4422  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please Verify These CoinBase to First Paper Wallet Steps... Are They Correct? on: January 27, 2016, 11:51:54 AM
I 2nd the idea of ubuntu on a live cd. I use it on an old notebook with no HD and it never goes online. i grabbed the html from a paper addy site, verified the html is correct via md5 and saved it to a thumb drive. i print to a laser on 20 lb high quality paper, then laminate that.

see that a lot for mining software in general.

I just exclude the folder with mining programs from my antivirus scanners and use only the official download sites for the miners.

4424  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: My set-up to heat house using bitmain S7 (UPDATE 03JAN2016) on: January 23, 2016, 01:26:21 AM
I just found your post, really nice setup! I have been working on a similar project and loving the free heat off of it.

Where are your miners pulling the air from? Are you basically circulating inside house air or pulling fresh outside air?

Air is being pulled from inside the garage. I have vents on the far wall that let the air inside the garage. Stays around 45 F inside the garage at all times and during the summer doesn't exceed 55 F. Its a 2 car garage with room for my workbench and storage. So pretty big area to pull air from.

thats scary actually.. air from you cars exhaust and engine fluids being heated/burned etc

you must be taking precautions or you wouldnt be alive to post.. or never run engines (the obvious answer)

you probably tried this but standard procedure seems to be "run as administrator" sorry but the real life prevents me from reading all the previous replies
4426  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you do with your idle coins? on: January 22, 2016, 02:04:18 AM
i hodl 80% in good paper wallets, 10% is for play (i spend at bitcoin accepting places), 10% is to "invest' ie i kiss them goodbye. sometimes it even works out.

anyway going to switch the miners from the HTPC to the rPi B and the suberbpag with the artic breeze in a few days.
when you get it going please post a few photos.

will do. probably this weekend during our big new england blizzard we may or may not get.

I hear good things about that superbpag 70w hub.
Its very stable but Amazon carries it now under the name Pag

good to know. I got the last one under the "superbpag" search in amazon  Grin so there are more..

sorta interesting thing happened..

cgminer crashed last night. (vista32 on my 24/7 HTPC) so.. ran cgminer again and stick serial# 13 fired up but stick serial number# 24 did not, that is until I unplugged and replugged it back in and off it went. both were running before for weeks. not sure what happened. maybe windows  Roll Eyes. it is a usb2 port.

and oh not related to the above I bought a  superbpag USB 3 hub from amazon -  and a rPi B from crazyguy. also an artic breeze mobile (amazon again) and BTW that arctic breeze mobile says "virtually silent USB fan" umm no its NOT. it makes a hum.

anyway going to switch the miners from the HTPC to the rPi B and the suberbpag with the artic breeze in a few days.

use high rag content bond paper. print on a laser printer. seal in multiple layers of baggies or seal in plastic laminate.

Wow. I thing you are talking about this one --- http://www.lcipaper.com/digital-print-cotton-paper.html
This is a better idea IMHO for those who do not feel safe on emails. Maybe I will try it later.

thats a bit overkill methinks

do a search for 20 pound watermarked paper, that should find some quality stuff. its what I use.  get it at any office supply place.
4434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why saving seed in mail (secret words) isn't safe ? on: January 15, 2016, 01:55:02 AM
I have tried using many paper wallets but they all got damaged in no time.

crazyguy

I was at your asicpuppy site to order a rpi. it lists 55.00 cut to 29.99. I registered and went to the final step of the checkout process and the price stayed at 55.00. is there a code or something?

also is it a rpi B or B+? its not entirely clear to me on the site.
