4421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Zcash? on: October 30, 2016, 09:39:53 PM
It'd be fine if only it weren't a carbon copy of 42coin and didn't have an exponentially increasing block reward and didn't act like a cleverly created pump coin. It seems that the creators of these kinds of scams have started investing more and more into their overhyped, seemingly revolutionary coins that actually don't do much... it's not like zcash had some incredibly new feature in it that would decimate other coins. It's pretty much the complete opposite; if they had actually made this system with a block reward similar to bitcoin's, it might have gone somewhere, but it'll just continue plunging in price and support.
4422  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Idea: very-high-hashrate cloud mining for buying BTC on: October 30, 2016, 09:34:59 PM
You'd need to find a pretty reliable guy to source the hashrate, which is pretty hard to find these days with even holders of significant hashrate scamming people that buy into their mining operations. Other than that, it seems pretty nice. Don't miningrigrentals and hashnest already provide a service similar to this? I just don't like people hosting other people's miners in any way, shape or form at all really, but as long as it is made clear that the buyer is taking a risk no matter how trustworthy the seller of hashrate is, I guess it works.
4423  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 7 on: October 30, 2016, 09:30:23 PM
Is the Avalon 6 SE any different form the Avalon 6?
Nope, besides being cheaper at a price of 399$, that is, without shipping costs added on. Seems like a decent miner if you have the right electrical rate, otherwise, it's probably just Canaan unloading the rest of their Avalon 6 stock. Perhaps this is a sign that the A7 is going to be released soon? Smiley
4424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What the hell is going on with ZCash? on: October 30, 2016, 05:59:07 PM
It's just a cleverly designed coin that has exponentially decreasing prices due to the block reward. It was pretty much made to have an insanely high price, and then drop as time goes on due to the supply rising. Don't buy into it; unless some enormous dark market uses it as their main method of payment, It'll fade into oblivion.
4425  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CS:GO skins to BTC ? on: October 30, 2016, 05:51:55 PM
It looks good and I guess I remember seeing it on Reddit before , I can't understand If this is peer to peer or I'm selling to the owners of website themselves though ?

It's p2p. But they also have buy orders which let you instantly sell your item a little below the market price.
Which is why I didn't recommend them Smiley opskins also works if you are looking to sell items relatively quickly, although they do require verification and such just to withdraw, which is a hassle.

Buy orders are not available on all items and they're usually set so low you're paying 60-65% for items, which is lower than quickselling your items ingame and selling to a key bot. Automatic selling is incredibly unreliable and it's really not worth doing.
4426  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: HELP - JUST BOUGHT 3x Bitmain S9's - Fan Mod for Noise/Heat and/or Underclock? on: October 30, 2016, 05:46:05 PM
Ok sorry to create a new thread but I have 3x S9's on the way and I need help with noise & heat. I will be running EVGA-1600 PSU's (Platinum) on each of 3 circuits.

-------------------

CURRENT SETUP: For context, I'm running 4x S7's in a dorm right now under my bed and they're decently quiet (with fans and underclock). However, I heard that the S9's are 5-7db louder (stock configuration). Here's my setup:

2x separate 15A/120V circuits (front/main)
2x 15A/120V on a SINGLE circuit

I've messed with some S7's and have been able to run them continuously underclocked at 550Mhz/475/450/400 respectively yielding 4.7Th/s, 3.3, 3.0, 2.7. I plan on building a duct to expel any hot air out the window as this is overwhelming at the moment. Fans are between 50-65%.

-------------------

I didn't consider noise when I got the S9's. So a few issues:

- Heat: shouldn't be an issue after my duct is built; can vent out the window; we have A/C.
- Electricity: should be fine as well; got my PSU questions solved already

- NOISE: What's the best way to deal with this? Insulation? Aftermarket fan mod? Underclock + Fan Underclock? All of them? They would all be going under my bed to help a bit with that.

How loud are the S9's compared to the S7's with insulation/new fans/underclock/etc?

Thanks in advance!!

Edit: I did find a lot of threads on the S5, but not the S9. Someone recommended the Scythe DFS123812-3000 "ULTRA KAZE" (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835185054). Would that be good for a push-pull configuration on the S9 as well?

Cost is not a consideration, as S9's cost a lot in the first place. Looking for a straight-up answer for the best aftermarket fans Smiley

Edit #2: No aftermarket fans rather; found out it voids the warranty.

I want to set up a new mining center in India through BITMAIN AntMiner S9. I am totally new to all these stuff. Shall I have each and every information about the best mining hardware and all it's like stuffs PSU and other things.
I have many questions for this. I am non-technical person.

I will be thank full to you for assisting me regarding me. Any other specialist in touch with you, also you can suggest to ask him or her such guarding questions.

Your every help for this setup will be counted.

My questions are:

what type of internet connection needed to mine through S9? How much 1MBPS connection speed enough or need rather more for this? I want to install multi S9 Hardware and i am totally new to this thing.

Does this S9 Hardware available on Amazon contain any display system? or it is needed to attach computer or laptop?

At present Own i5 5200 CPU Lenovo laptop. Does S9 have Computer attached in built?

Can you send me pictures of your setup to my email?

My email is ashokgadhia@gmail.com

I will be very much thank full to everyone answering my questions.

Ashok gadhia

What else thing needed with S9 Hardware along with PSU?

Internet shouldn't be an issue for miners, as they require virtually no internet; latency has a slight impact on accepted shares, but it's usually no big deal, although i recommend 1mbps per ~10 miners. You can buy an ethernet adapter on your laptop and link miners up to it; that's the only way to attach it to a pc easily. Splitters should also work well if you do need them.
4427  Economy / Speculation / Re: $700 HIT ^^ TARGET 900-1100 on: October 30, 2016, 05:23:29 PM
Yes finally bitcoin hit the point of 700$. Honestly I even didn't expect to price grow up so fast. My prognoses was that bitcoin will reach this point only in the end of the year. Bitcoin was around 600$ for too long, it seemed frozen, but this days it started to grow. Now there is a question for how long bitcoin will grow or again will get frozen on the point around 700$?
My guess is that it's going to meander around 700 and rise again, with a few bumps in the road that hit it back down to the 650s. Definitely a surprise to us all that Bitcoin would reach this level before the year ends, but we've still got a very long journey to 1000. Buy low, sell high seems to be good these days, selling at 730-50 and rebuying once it goes down could also work well.
4428  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The House always wins. on: October 30, 2016, 05:20:43 PM
It's pretty much guaranteed that the house wins unless you withdraw early, or win and don't ever gamble again, whichever happens. Of course, both are pretty unlikely outcomes and most people like to go high and that usually results in a loss. The house needs to win for the casino to keep operating as well.
4429  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Non-Bitcoin Uses for Old ASIC Miners? on: October 30, 2016, 04:56:03 PM
sorry for bumping such an old topic but i read posts on a few different forums that suggested that these asic miners could be used for mining any sha256 coin, of which there are many.

does anyone have any experience with this?

thanks.

Smiley
Yes, it's possible as they were designed to be SHA256 miners after all. Just point the miner to the sha256 pool of your choice and it will mine for you there. Don't expect massive improvements, though- Bitcoin is usually the most profitable sha256 coin to mine, although Peercoin is sometimes more profitable.
4430  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is the minimum amount to start as a trader? on: October 30, 2016, 12:39:45 AM
There is none. You can start with dust or thousands of dollars in crypto, although learning will be your best friend. You can't expect enormous profits in the beginning, nor can you expect substantial profit starting with dust. What I do is I spend 5% of what I earn on this forum each month and allocate it to trading; it doesn't take up too much money, and I get small profit out of it. Time is your best friend in trading, learn and be patient. There is also lots of information and help out there, not just on this forum, but, however, be aware that not all info is true.
4431  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CS:GO skins to BTC ? on: October 30, 2016, 12:19:50 AM
skins.cash works fine, although their exchange ratio is somewhat subpar. Don't use them for katowice and special skins, however- you can get a higher exchange rate simply through selling items for keys and selling keys to key bots. I can link a key bot if you wish.

I've used skins.cash with nearly 400$ in items, and they've yet to scam me. They occasionally have slow transactions or issues, but they seem decent.

I would also be willing to purchase skins off of you if you do have any.
4432  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Wanting to start to mine for profit.. on: October 29, 2016, 11:46:50 PM
12 c / kwh is a "kill profit" excessively high electric rate for almost any miner.

The KEY to actually making money at mining is to get somewhere with a LOW electric rate - your "right around US average rate" by cryptocoin mining standards is HIGH.

7c / kwh you might be able to eek out ROI but even that's gonna be marginal.

Hint - I moved away from Iowa 'cause the 7.5-8c / kwh LOWER RATE IN NON-SUMMER MONTHS was hammering my mining profits, despite using every available trick to lower my rate.
The 14c+ "3 months of the summer" rate forced me to shut pretty much EVERYTHING down as being unprofitable.

I can back this up, I have electrical rates of just below 0.075$/kwh and I pretty much have no profit at all. I don't mine for profit anyways, so it's not a big issue, but if you live in a suburban or urban area, chances are you won't be able to mine for decent profit. Same goes if you live in most places in the U.S.

If you plan to mine as a hobby like me, go for it. If not, don't. You'll cry with your electrical bills.
4433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 700 BTC for 1zcash. on: October 29, 2016, 11:44:32 PM
The hype for this coin will settle down in a week or even less, what with this coin being dumped and rebought. Pretty much a revived 42coin, albeit with higher initial volume and more hype. Expect the price to go in a similar fashion to 42coin; there's just not much else to do with it except for the enhanced security it has over bitcoin. If it even survives, which I doubt it will, the price will be around or lower than 1BTC.
4434  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ZCASH - What is this shit? on: October 29, 2016, 11:41:11 PM
It's a pretty mysterious coin, with not much special about it except for the fact that it's more anonymous than Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies like Monero. There doesn't seem to be much to do with it except that, which is probably why the price for the coin only held the price of 1500BTC+ for a few minutes before plunging down into the low tens and now the price of ~2.7BTC. I think it's just a rather elaborate pump-and-dump scheme.
4435  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin trusted to put your real money on: October 29, 2016, 11:01:36 PM
I would trust it. It's the first that came here and the unique idea. Now there are lots of Altcoins but Bitcoin will always be the best.
All Bitcointalk users trust Bitcoin, otherwise we won't be here to follow the last news and discussions about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, some members mentioned the security cases which caused Bitcoin price crash in many times, this is the biggest challenge for Bitcoin now.
It's not always going to crash or rise, though, so i would actually say no if you want to store your money in bitcoin. Although other currencies also fluctuate daily, bitcoin is more volatile and is less suitable for storing money long term. HODLing isn't the best investment in the world, either.
4436  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What's better? High freq or more ASICs? on: October 29, 2016, 03:54:57 PM
Although overclocking and making an ASIC operate at a higher frequency makes it run faster and produce more hashes per second, it also increases its power consumption to a point where it may not be ideal. I'd just prefer a well-researched and thought through ASIC that doesn't require insanely high clock rates to operate at its desired hashrate.
4437  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: difficulty finally dropping like expected- dramatically. on: October 29, 2016, 03:52:55 PM
I am not sure how it will change in the future, but I know the last few batches of BTC will be released over the next few years so we may see some strange changes in future graphs.

Maybe you could clarify what you mean by the last few batches of BTC will be released...
Batches from where?  Who is releasing them and from what are they being released?  Is it the US Marshal service again?
He's probably talking about when the last few bitcoins are mined, there'll be large difficulty jumps and dumps again like there have been in the last few months. This is pretty much a dead thread already, i'll consider locking in and putting it into archive. No point since the real conversation has ended months ago.
4438  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: SUGGESTIONS INQUIRED START UP A NEW MINING CENTER WITH BITMAIN ANTMINER S9 on: October 29, 2016, 01:33:12 AM
You've provided us with no information whatsoever on how your datacenter is cooled, how much electricity costs, and information like that. What's your budget, even? Mining is difficult stuff to figure out at first, and I suggest reading a few other things on the forum to help you decide. Providing us with the info I've listed is a good way to start.
4439  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Transaction taking ages to confirm on: October 26, 2016, 09:14:10 PM
Like everybody else has said, RBF is going to be your best bet if you really don't want to do the transaction anymore. Don't worry, I've got a transaction of nearly 0.72 BTC with 55 sat/byte, and it's been unconfirmed for 5 hours. Give it time Smiley

If you are running on a blockchain.info wallet and you don't really want to open up your pc to make a transaction, you can use coinb.in to make and sign one. It's easy and simple, just provide your private key. I've used it for situations like this many times.
4440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Buying ICONOMI / ICN shares on: October 25, 2016, 11:23:59 PM
Price is now 0.00032 on Kraken, only for your considerations
0.000284, we'll see where this goes in the first week Smiley Maybe the ICO selling helped the dump become smaller, but most bounty hunters were smart and still dumped on exchanges. Nevertheless I'll be optimistic and hope the price goes up, which it probably will.
