I probably could run Electrum on my N900 (not sure) if I spent some time on it Yes, you can. But you will need easydeb chroot. Python used on maemo5 is prehistoric. Nice... I'll try to run spesmilo while I'm at it too. Thanks for the tip. Especially my wife will be happy when she sees this on her N900. She just started actively using Bitcoin, and constantly asking what her preferred client should be. Luke-jr has compiled all kinds of custom stuff for the N900, ask him about it. I think one such thing was bitcoind itself, crosscompiled to work with whatever distro he was running. (Suse? I don't remember)

Seems Richard Stallman is not following bitcoin.
He makes a good point though. It isn't anonymous, because exchanges can track you, and using it through Tor is annoying.

This is the right response : Address: 178.32.31.42 rjk : Do you also use Windows 7 ? Which browser ? Ciyam : which browser do you use ? If you want to try another solution, you can use directly a DNS server supporting .bit like 178.32.31.41. (Here is how to change your dns server : http://wiki.opennicproject.org/ConfiguringYourComputer [doesn't seem to have instructions for windows 7, only for XP...] ) You can also use : http://dot-bit.org/How_To_Browse_Bit_Domains#List_of_Web_proxiesPeople reported it working under windows XP, several Linux, Iphone, with firefox, chrome and safari. Maybe windows 7 is the black sheep... People reported it not working if your DNS provider respond fake replies to non-existent domains (also know as dns redirector). Are you concerned by that ? I use Windows 7, and I tested with both Internet Explorer and Pale Moon (a Firefox variant). I use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, which do not hijack DNS requests. I am guessing that Windows 7 is indeed a black sheep there, and after some searching I found that you may need to edit a group policy for it to work right. Here is a pic of how I did it: Note that it still doesn't work for me, but I may need to reboot (haven't yet). You may also need to modify the next policy down (Connection Specific DNS Suffix) to Enabled as well, and specify namecoin-suffix.dot-bit.org. Inspiration from here: http://superuser.com/questions/71853/windows-7-not-appending-connection-specific-dns-suffix

I call it lose. The claim being disputed didn't involve aftermarket heatsinks. Especially not .... $140 aftermarket heatsinks.
The claim dispute may or may not involve aftermarket heat-sinks, as the post didn't specify. Also, the claim in dispute included an additional fan for every rig. In addition, there was this little gem which you completely ignore- It gets into the high 90's and occasionally the low 100's here in the summer (desert climate). I used a small evap cooler last year during the summer So okay. Assuming he doesn't have the custom heat sinks is already a stretch in your favor. But given that, you honestly don't think the addition of an extra fan per rig AND an evap cooler would be enough to compensate for lack of said heat sinks? Calling it a lose is wishful thinking, or a desperate act of someone who knows he was proven wrong Listen, I give up. Is that what you wanted to hear? Good for you, you win. Yay. Now please drop it because this is beyond a joke. I'll keep cooling how I want to, and you can keep cooling how you want to. Mods, could the offtopic be split off? OP, sorry for ruining your thread.

Hell sir. I am very much interested in the item you have for sale. Since I am currently overseas for business, I shall arrange for my shipper to pick the item up at a time and date of your convenience. He will exchange with you a cashiers check for five thousand USD ($5000) which I request you deduct the cost of your item from and return the difference.
Ahahaha sure

MtGox will sweep any coins out of the address when it is added, and will keep it for future use and sweep out any coins added later. The coins are sent to a new address and credited to your account.

namecoin-suffix.dot-bit.org is a zone, not an address. You can't ping it.
Okay - but neither the Windoze .reg nor Linux /etc/resolv.conf methods described in the namecoin wiki are working for me (although initially bx.bit did come up under Windows for a while last week). If anyone has any method that works to see ciyam.bit (just from Australia is fine as perhaps it is impossible in China) then I'd really appreciate to know it (the OP website doesn't work either). Yeah I applied the .reg to my windows 7 installation, and it appears to make nslookup work properly, but I can't get it to work outside of that. Default Server: google-public-dns-a.google.com Address: 8.8.8.8
> ciyam.bit Server: google-public-dns-a.google.com Address: 8.8.8.8
Non-authoritative answer: Name: ciyam.bit.namecoin-suffix.dot-bit.org Address: 178.32.31.42
> I haven't really pursued it much, but I haven't needed any .bit domains recently.

an exploit has not yet been developed and a patch is already available.
No exploit... that you know of. The bug has been there for probably a decade. It's not bug appears, bug patched - where your vulnerability is the time between discovery and patch. It's bug exists for _years_, bug discovered publicly, bug patched. What demons lurk behide the wall? We couldn't see. The same applies to any remotely accessible service, including SSH. I'll hand it to you that it is open source, and therefore less likely to have a showstopping bug, but that does NOT mean that bugs are impossible, far from it.

A lot of unwarranted concern here IMO. This is only an issue if you enable Remote Desktop, which is already known to be ridiculously insecure. It's disabled by default, so don't worry, if you've never used it you're not at risk.
Cite? Have a good long password, and SSL with a proper certificate from a CA, and login rights only for users other than Administrator, and it works fine. The vuln above is something to worry about, but an exploit has not yet been developed and a patch is already available. Sure, it doesn't offer certificate based auth like SSH does, but you can use smart cards if you aren't good at making a secure password. Add a VPN on top if you are really paranoid, and change the port for good measure.

Pinging namecoin-suffix.dot-bit.org from either PRC or Australia results in: unknown host namecoin-suffix.dot-bit.org so AFAICT the instructions concerned .reg entries or /etc/resolv.conf are of no use whatsoever now (and yes I can no longer go to bx.bit or anything else that had worked in my attempts before). Must admit it is a tad disappointing to have purchased a shiny new TLD that to all practical purposes is unreachable. namecoin-suffix.dot-bit.org is a zone, not an address. You can't ping it.

My BFL hashrate seem to be commensurate with my GPU hashrate in terms of U and A in cgminer, just for the record.
I have seen no evidence of throttling with my single. Been pretty constant at 829Mh/s. I have 4 more coming tomorrow so I'll have my first 5Gh computer running in the next 24 hours. +1, it's only been down twice, once when my USB hub died, and another time for a reboot. Aprox. 73 degrees Fahrenheit ambient. Ufasoft (for now)

Tycho, Any chance you could tag Deepbit's coinbases? Make it easier to detect the Mystery one block miner.
You can use the transaction count of 1 as filter to detect the Mystery miner. Its a crutch but would be fairly accurate for now. Deepbit's blocks always go to 1VayNert.... don't they? Could tag them that way.

Just thinking, maybe the topic of this thread should be Remotely related to the BitForce Single and Rig Box. Maybe this post belongs in Meta.
We've already discussed them until we were blue in the face. What more do you want to know that is on topic?
