I have to work up the courage to send a PM to @theymos. ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) Theymos isn't scary ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Image storage may not be too brutal because Talkimg is still used by bitcointalk forum users only. But if it's used by a lot of people like imgg of course it will require bigger hosting. I checked my own images: In the past 4 years, I've uploaded 369 images (31 MB) (I'm not counting non-image data). If you multiply that by 1000, it still fits a fairly small VPS.

I bought my first funded filled "physical Bitcoin"! I was happily surprised to find chocolate Bitcoin at budget store Action. ![Image loading...](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Floyce.club%2Fother%2Fchoco1.jpg&t=664&c=iDZh6cyMLBep6Q) ![Image loading...](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Floyce.club%2Fother%2Fchoco2.jpg&t=664&c=30rflCONYB0dXA) I like how Bitcoin awareness is slowly spreading.

That's not good: This domain is owned by Alibaba Cloud. If they decide to change the URL (be it soon or 10 years from now), all embedded images are gone. It also means you have a vendor lock-in: you can't move to a different webhost anymore without losing those images. I'd say change this while it's still early. I don't like this, but I think many alternatives people are using today for uploading images are doing something similar. Most image sharing sites don't really care about long-term availability of user-images. We can't expect joker_josue to use his own hosting and hard drive space for this It's not as if cloud hosting is free. but have you tested how imgur, imgbb and others are handling this? From what I've seen, they host the images on their own domain, or a subdomain of their domain. That gives them the possibility to move to a different webhost without breaking external links.

Why don't you continue this in your other topic? Update: I guess it wasn't clear: this was a rhetorical question.

AND guess how much ive lost to malware/virus/ransomware: IN 12 YEARS OF A HOT CORE WALLET IN WINDOWS,. ZERO NOTHING NADA ZILCH NEGATIVE That sounds like survivor bias. Many people have never lost their coins, but that doesn't change the fact that many others did lose their coins. I've never needed my seat belt, but that doesn't guarantee I won't need it in the future. security all comes down to the person. rarely is it ONLY the OS thats the security problem.. True. But it can help a lot. I'm not installing Wine to run Windows malware.btw i use hardware wallets and paper wallets for my main stash, core and my phone have spending amounts. And that's how it should be ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) As long as you can afford losing it, there's nothing wrong with using hot wallets.

It's going to be a boring price update: 1BTC = 1BTC

I hear a lot about VM. How to have one and how much it costs. I will appreciate a link or article about it. I use VirtualBox. It's free. Install it, and install your own OS inside or download an image.

It seems that some of the newcomers have become "immune from the ban." From what I've seen, it varies. But Ledway has reached the limit: Autoban user: N/A in topic #0 by member #3550782

I was curious for a long time so I've done it. But why? You know it's not going to fit, and the exact percentage doesn't mean anything. When you have reached the download bitcoin blockchain up to 100%, it is only temporary because the amount of Bitcoin itself has not yet reached the maximum limit ( 20,999,999.9769 bitcoins), so there are still many blocks that have not been mined. Bitcoin blocks will continue to be mined after the last (fraction of a) Bitcoin is mined.

With regard to backups, I would like to discuss the following point: IN ANALYSIS: Every month I will manually make a backup of the images from the previous month, which will be available (for a few days) for anyone who wants to keep them. Can I make a daily backup? My (donated) dedicated server has enough space to keep this up, and I like making incremental backups with rsync. This gives a TimeMachine overview of old snapshots, in which all existing files get hardlinked instead of downloaded again. I manually clean up older backups once in a while. This would require access to use rsync on your server though.

Regarding this, I am using Linux inside virtual software like VMware and so for operating wallets. What do you guys think about this? or there is still some vulnerability? Your guest OS is only as secure as your host OS. It's better to do it the other way around: on a trusted OS, use a VM to run untrusted software without risking your host OS.

attacks such as Reverse shell attacks can compromise your system just by you connecting to a website that might not even seem malicious. In this case, it is actually imperative that you're using a secure OS or else you are exposed at all times The site asks for a login, so I can't read it. If what you're saying is true, that's simply ridiculous! How is it even legal to sell an OS that can get compromised from visiting a website, and why is the manufacturer not liable for that?

although it was written on January 30, 2018. Reading it back is fun: If he would make the same transaction now with 20 Satoshis/byte fee We now think of that as a high fee!

Wow even if I wouldn't call that a massive attack for now, it starts to scare me a little bit to be honest. Unlike what some people are saying above, Electrum could be not so safe to use anymore if those testimonies are true. So what could we do now ? Only using it as a cold wallet? But how we will make Lightning Network transactions now? Hot wallets have never been 100% safe, no matter which one you use. Microsoft Windows has never been safe either, and most computer users make mistakes once in a while. Any substantial funds should indeed be kept in cold wallets. Do you accidentally allow something which malwarebytes blocked? No if my memory serves me right. I usually read the alerts by antivirus, antimalware programs and I always choose quarantine/remove option , allow is not even a chance. I haven't use Windows in a long time, so I have to ask: is this "normal"? I would expect to use antivirus software as an absolute last resort, and wipe the system the moment it finds something. You make it sound as if it finds and quarantines malware on a regular basis.

If the Cybersecurity and Privacy board was added any time in the last 3 months after the situation with julerz12, maybe a post there (such as one explaining and emphasizing that all users should be using Linux over Windows) may have prevented the OP from being hacked. That's very unlikely to happen. I wrote this years ago: How to prevent this1. Don't use Windows, but we both know you're not going to change that. A more realistic suggestion would be to use a hardware wallet, but both julerz12 and Avirunes knew that already.

I suspect mempool grows at the end of each month and today is the last day of the month. Maybe just a coincidence, but I send coins on 30th or 31th of each month on a regular basis and mempool is almost always congested. Need to check the graphs to make sure though. Here's the graph: ![Image loading...](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Floyce.club%2Fother%2Fjohoe12.png&t=664&c=33Hjb7Yadu0PSg) I don't see a clear increase in fees at the end of each month. At the end of November and January it went up a bit, but nothing more than what happens in other parts of the months too.

you would just write [r=5][nbsp][/r].
I can imagine a tag like that also being useful for other things that come up in signature design (like long sequences of the same character). I don't think this will ever be implemented: the 4000-character limit in signatures is meant to limit the page size. If theymos wanted to increase that, increasing the limit would be much easier.

Full Member zanezane returned after 2 years, and changed from short posts to excessively detailed posts. He's suddenly "answering" many questions on the tech boards. Thoughts on this? I'd say it looks like generit chat AI diarrhoea: Downloading the blockchain isa resource-intensive process that requires a lot of bandwidth and time. Doing so over a public WiFi network increases the chances of the download getting interrupted, resulting in wasted time and bandwidth. and also could potentially violate the network's terms and service, which could lead to legal consequences. It is very important to note that you should only discard your old wallet once you have you confirmed that ll of your funds have been successfully transferred to your new wallet. You should also make sure to securely erase any sensitive information that may be stored on your old wallet to prevent unauthorized access.
Make sure to store your passphrase in a secure location, such as a password manager or a physical safe, to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands. Red parts: I suspect he added those typos on purpose.

You should probably change the title from [Apr 2023] Fees quite low! Use this opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs to something else before some poor sap decides to consolidate their inputs ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) . That poor sap will learn the cheapest lesson possible: don't act on headlines but actually read and understand before doing ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) If he learns this lesson here instead of in "invest your pension in cloud mining", I call that a win. It's rare for fees to go up in the weekend though. It looks like many people started consolidating after mempool was empty for the first time in months.
