4421  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin vs. Gold: which has been more of a safe-haven asset in 2020? on: June 08, 2020, 11:44:56 AM
I would always go with gold if it's compared with any kind of investment, however I will choose bitcoin in a sense that I like bigger profit so I'm willing to take a higher risk. And with bitcoin, I believe this technology would attract massive adoption in the future and it will result to a significant increase of value due to its adoption.

For typical investors, it's a no-brainer that they'll always pick gold for stability and security, but since we are in crypto, I think we can say to ourselves that we are risk takers who wants bigger return.

PBA players with expired contracts fear months without salary if stoppage lingers

Quote
By August 31, more players will have their contracts expired including stars such as San Miguel Beer’s Arwind Santos and Alex Cabagnot, Alaska’s Jeron Teng, Rome Dela Rosa of Magnolia, Meralco’s John Pinto, the NorthPort duo of Paolo Taha and Nico Salva, and Phoenix’s Jake Pascual and Dave Marcelo.

They will be affected if the PBA will not resume soon, we know that they are earning well but their standard of living has change as well, so they are still slave with their salary that they need to earn in order to survive. Pandemic was never expected, but I hope it will give them a lesson to always ensure savings as our future is always uncertain.
4423  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Las Vegas Casinos are open - end of the Pandemic era. on: June 08, 2020, 09:52:15 AM
I guess we all knew that Las Vegas casinos were planning to open soon, but how many of you’ll actually thought that they would be opening it so soon? because I’m shocked that they have opened it as the number of corona cases are rising only.

Furthermore flights to Las Vegas are already full, and people are coming in large numbers to play out there, hence I’m sincerely praying that no one gets infected while playing out there.

Though they have set up various safety measures, but I’m not sure what their protocol will be if it’s found that an infected person played out there, will they be forced to shut down their casinos, or will it be business as usual for them?.

So Latvia and UK opened ahead of Las vegas according to your post here?

Hope the next to operate is Las Vegas because there are too large amount of money that the government might earning this pandemic because of the stop operation of these casinos.

I thought Las Vegas casino is already opened. that's the title of the thread.

It's also what this article told us.

It's less than a week since the operation has started, let's see in a month if there are not complains or report saying the government are wrong in allowing casino to operate, but let's not hope for that.
4424  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA Season on: June 07, 2020, 09:38:35 AM
If we based the prediction below, we need some kind of miracle for the spurs to make it to the playoffs.

The San Antonio Spurs have a 2% chance of making the playoffs and a <1% chance of winning the NBA Finals

I'll wait if there's a betting odds for the spurs that says "will spurs qualify to the playoffs?".

If based on the percentage, then we can assume that the odds will be very attractive, probably 10x or more?
But anyway, I agree that they struggle this season, but spurs are spurs, regardless of who plays as long as coach pop is their coach, they are still a dangerous team.
4425  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Betting this June? on: June 07, 2020, 08:25:48 AM
It's only business to Bob, LOL. Every sports are already resuming and I'm sure everyone is aware that this could be the new normal for us. Our lives should move even with the current threat of the virus. And probably those boxers that are going to be in the ring could have been tested for the virus itself.
Testing is necessary, that's part of the process to ensure those who are in the venue are negative from covid-19, the success of the sports mostly depends on how the boxers, the people involve especially the promoter will comply with the specific guidelines to be given by the government, so since they are into money, they will surely protect their interest by following the requirement.

Thanks for the odds, I'm not sure to bet though, it seems that the favorites are going to win in my opinion. I'm not seeing any upsets in the first fight in this pandemic.
You'll bet for the winner, you will win, but the odds are about are 1.01 and 1.10.. I not gonna take that, if there's a handicap, maybe that would attract me.
4426  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: June 07, 2020, 07:11:49 AM
As per IATF, sports activities will only be allowed on Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ). With the numbers still growing every day, I doubt Manila will shift to MGCQ from GCQ. I even believed it will be revert back to MECQ. I think if the numbers will keep increasing within the whole month of July, I will expect that PBA will not resume as they set up a timeframe to decide until August (October is the target date if the decision to resume will be made on August so 2 months preparations).

I think the PBA has to return, NBA are going to return soon, that is despite the fact that US has the biggest number of cases in the entire world, and actually Las Vegas casino was already open.

source: https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/destinations/2020/06/06/las-vegas-reopening-casinos-business-coronavirus-george-floyd-protests/3163910001/

Therefore, if other country can do it, I think with strict measures, PBA can resume their season.

Let's look at the figure, per https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html

Philippines has 21,340 confirmed cases, while USA has 1,920,061, and yet they didn't close businesses because they know the economy will suffer more.
4427  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Devs please have some respect on: June 06, 2020, 12:29:25 PM
A scammer devs is good on blaming anyone, most particularly the bounty hunter, but they didn't realize when they blame the bounty hunters, it's the same as blaming themselves as they are the one who hire the bounty hunter to promote the project. 1% of the supply is very small if all the supply are sold, but if not, it will create a significant change on the price if it will be dump by the bounty hunters especially if investors have no interest on buying it.

As per personal experience, I have a participated in some bounty campaign in the past and although I like to see but I prefer not to dump it as I don't like to get a dust from my hard work promoting the project, I just hope that someday, the bull run will come back so even poor altcoins now might at least reach its ICO or IEO price.

I really thought that vegas will open soon, but I don't expect a lot of people will come and play, that's risking their lives and I don't know why gambling is more important to them than their health. Well, since this happened already, let's just hope that it will not help to aggravate the situation USA is currently facing.

More money going to the government but they will just spend it to help the growing number of people infected with the virus, it does not make sense if this move will fail.
4429  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Decentralized currencies but Centralized trading on: June 06, 2020, 08:55:56 AM
Exchange will always be the last platform that we need since bitcoin does has not gain a massive adoption yet.
People will still rely on fiat as everything can be purchase with fiat, and you are right "Decentralized currencies but Centralized trading", that's the norm even in the future as bitcoin can never beat fiat in terms of adoption.

Bitcoin has always been an alternative as payment system, let's accept the reality.
4430  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your Choice To Stay Longer Online Or Casinos on: June 06, 2020, 08:07:30 AM
I'm much more fun playing offline casinos.
Because there are always people there, always something happens, constantly someone jokes.
In general, a cheerful and laid-back atmosphere reigns, while at home everything is monotonous and the same.
I also like that kind of atmosphere where I have someone to talk to while I am gambling, but I don't have a lot of friends in a casino so I bring my friends to make our gambling activities more fun, when going into a land based casino, all I can say is that it's gonna bring real fun but chances of winning is very low, that's for me only, don't know about other people.

Therefore, I sometimes like to go to online casinos with webcams.

Never experienced that in my life, would you mind telling me what kind of games that we can use our webcam when betting, or what particular casino you are using?
4431  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: June 06, 2020, 07:12:59 AM
Since we will make a mini-betting.

1. I suggest to have atleast 2 weeks to bet so that there is no more speculation. In addition, we don't know if on the last week of this month PBA will officially announce it. So I suggest that we have to make a duration time in betting.
I agree with this, so hopefully the rules of the game will be available soon, so we can start anytime.

2. We should have an escrow service or addresses so that those who bet for no or yes can send it right now until the duration period.
I think the total amount is not big enough since I don't expect a lot of people will participating.
Let's just say 10 usd per bet and we will get a maximum of 10 participants, that is just 100 usd and for me, I don't mind bisdak40 holding the funds in an address known to the public.

Quote
I just observe that there is zero bet for "no" haha. It's too hard to bet no when there are many bet in "yes". So we may adjust the winning rate for 60/40?

60- yes
40- no

If you bet 400 pesos in "no" you can win 600 pesos if you are correct. And if you bet 600 pesos for "yes" you will win 400. So that we balance the game? What do you think?

We may depend the rate based upon the update or number of bettors.

I'm okay with the odds, I will still bet for no even if I'll only win 40% of my bet.  Grin

Set the game sir bisdak, I will bet 10dollars for "yes"

10 usd for no, I got you mate.  Smiley
4432  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA Season on: June 06, 2020, 06:38:11 AM
For the Nets fans waiting for Durant to play, he's already ruled out playing for the 2019-2020 season. I guess he learned how not to rush in while recovering from an injury when he was in GS. Good choice. Kevin Durant confirms he won't return for NBA restart

He learned the hard way for sure because he is out for one who season because of that one big mistake when he force to play to help his team.
Durant is one of my favorite players in the NBA, so I'm hoping that the injury he suffered did not really affect him a lot and I will see the same Durant when he comes back. He has a big responsibility with the Nets along with Irving, I think if these two will just stay healthy, they could be a good contented in the NBA.

Nets has a good standing when the season will resume, so I also hope that they will make it to the playoffs so they will get the experience that might help them in the next playoffs, with Durant and Irving back playing. I don't expect them to win in even in the first round this season BTW.
4433  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: PAGCOR waiting for the approval to reopen land-based casinos. on: June 04, 2020, 08:11:56 AM
If the approval can be released in this month, that will make many gamblers at the land-based happy because they can go to those places to play many gambling games again. But I hope people can search for the other news about the safety of that place, so they don't have to worry about going there. Besides that, people need to make sure that everything is okay. The land-based casino needs to prepare their places, including preparing the hand sanitizer in many corners in that place for the visitor.
Once it's approve, it's not gonna be the normal, we will see a new normal. If I am not mistaken, Manila the capital of the Philippines is under GCQ right now, so it's just right for casinos to be re open. I know a lot of people are concern of the risk, but let's just say that they will never open if they are not putting measures to minimize the risk.

The other choice for people is they can wait for a while, perhaps wait for a week or two weeks before they can visit on that casino, and they can see the update every day for that place so they can know if they can visit that place without worry.

People can wait, but the government has been spending a lot, so they need to balance their finances so they will also generate income from their operation aside from taxes they will receive from private entities.
4434  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: June 04, 2020, 07:30:34 AM
Without going in deep thinking what's the specific task Abueva is assigned to do as the last thing before considering lifting his ban, I'm sure that is related to the social activity such as lending a help, joining an environment drive, be a good example to others or anything that associated with helping the community.

We have seen his contribution in this pandemic, so this should be a good reason for the PBA to consider letting him play again.
I don't know if he is still that Abueva when he comes back as he has been laid off for quite awhile already, but hopefully we will see him a the same beast.

The Covid-19 is a crisis to anyone but that also opens the doors for us to see who are the ones that will provide help and support during these hard times. A good opportunity for Abueva to show that he is just a bad boy on the court but a good one in real life.

Hopefully, once he comes back, he is now a responsible bad boy without the actual meaning of it. Bad boy in making points, bad boy in penetrating the defense, bad boy in making plays, and a good team leader.

He is aging. 32 years old is considered as post-prime. He needs to be a responsible player until he resigned. This is his last chance.

32 years but looks like he is not aging, he still has that energy in him, he is the only one in the team who can bring the energy because he has that kind of swag, but based on what I notice, coach Alas loves to rotate his people same with the style of Alaska, I just hope that he will consider abueva playing more minutes. probably 25 minutes or more average per game.
4435  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: June 02, 2020, 10:49:54 PM
~snip~

I think Abueva have already done his part for the commissioner to lift the ban on him. During ECQ in the NCR, he have helped many individuals that were suffering from the effects of this pandemic. I agree with harizen, when the PBA resume, Abueva will be a part of it. It's just interesting to note that a former bad boy of the PBA have made that appeal  Smiley. Abueva's antic is very far from that of Distrito. Today's rules are made because of the acts committed by them.

I hope you are right and we will see him back when the season will resume.
There's no rumors about that now but it's been almost a year already and once PBA resumes and Abueva is back, this will create a big headline in the PBA and this will caught the attention of the people to watch the games, I also think that PBA will become more popular now that the biggest network in our country are still not allowed to operate. If abueva will be allowed to play again, do you think the Phoenix has a good chance being a contender in the all Fiiipino cup?
4436  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin hits $10k, Coinbase goes down (again) on: June 02, 2020, 04:46:28 PM
I think this is what some exchange really do, the last time bitcoin pumped, our local exchange coins.ph the biggest in our country also conducted a website maintenance, I don't know exactly what's the tricks here, can anyone educate me?
I've noticed this many times now, but upon thinking on it, there is something in the exchange that is going on so I guess it is the traffic they are receiving. As you said, the biggest local exchange in your country also does the same thing. So I guess it's a matter of user base number, Coinbase as on of the biggest exchange right now there is no doubt that the traffic on their website is heavy especially when the bitcoin pumps, user transaction is getting out of control so that's why they are having sudden maintenance and issues. Thus, this might be a drawback for the coinbase since a lot of people are complaining.
I don't think that is a good excuse, they already know their clients, hence they can prepare for that, though the maintenance was just short, but it has taken the opportunity of the traders to make some good entry or exit point, I really doubt its just about the traffic, if other sites can handle big traffic then why coinbase can't? Anyway, not much of an excitement now, it's already over as bitcoin has started its dump already.
4437  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Good news from Ohio - Sports betting will be legal now. on: June 02, 2020, 04:20:39 PM
I think other states will follow.I can think that they have done it because the Coronavirus totally destroyed the US economy where unemployment rate is in the highest level since November 1982 which was the previous peak. Now the governments are looking to revive the economy in every possible way including legalizing gambling.

That's my theory too, it's very timely so we can only think that it's related to effect of the current situation.
It's just sports betting but sports betting is a big industry and I think majority of big bettors are betting on sports, and as this industry is growing, it would also result to a positive impact on a certain country's economy.

Like I said, they are a billion dollars industry.

4438  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA Season on: June 02, 2020, 03:30:45 PM

I think so because it was not only Doncic who is running the team, when they acquired Kristaps Porziņģis by trading their other players, their team has become a playoff team. Now, since the season will be shorten, they have already secure a spot in the playoffs and I'm expecting that they will do better against the biggest teams in the West, if they manage to enter in the NBA finals, that would be a great gift for the fans and I think it's possible as they have a very good teamwork now.
It's possible it is Clipper which they will be against.
A strong competitive duel will be witnessed.

Luka and Kristaps against Kawhi and PG13.
It will be an awesome game.
Season standings, Clippers won twice against Mavs. Last was January where Luka and Kawhi scored 36 points with 11 rebounds for Kawhi and 10 for Luka.

Which team is good to bet on this series?
I think Clippers will certainly be the favorites here, but if there's a handicap, then I would probably take the Mavericks in the series.

A +2.5 handicap for the mavericks would be a good bet IMO.  what do you think?
4439  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: June 02, 2020, 01:45:25 PM
That's a lot of good news about Abueva, I'm with you hoping that the commissioner will look into it.

here's the interview of Willie Marcial and ask about the status of Calvin Abueva.

https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7smiwt

According to him, "may pinapagawa ako sa kanya, kapag naayos niya yon, malamang babalik na siya"... not the exact words but the content of his statement, so meaning, Abueva was given a specific task that he needs to comply so for sure it's not hard to do it.

I hope "he will comply para pwedi ng maglaro".

That seems to be a very familiar picture, that "meme" was very popular, and it made sense that you used it here, I hope he will comply to the demand of the commissioner so he will come back, but I'm just curious, isn't it hard to comply the demand since he's been suspended for almost a year already?

https://www.rappler.com/sports/by-sport/basketball/pba/232276-calvin-abueva-suspended-indefinitely

I think the suspension was given after the game, so let's say he was suspended last June 4, the date that article above is published, so that's almost a year already, I think he serve a long period already.
