4442  Economy / Economics / Re: CFTC Orders JPMorgan to Pay Record $920 Million for Spoofing and Manipulation on: October 01, 2020, 09:39:30 AM
Perhaps the answer as to why there are no bankers in jail is that they aren't prosecuted and a deal is being made under the table. Just like in this case, almost $1 billion is fair enough for this government's prosecutors. Or probably this kind of manipulation is sophisticated in itself, that it is hard to established the facts in the beginning.

We all know what manipulation and deceptive conduct and spoofing, but do we really know the intricacies of it that it took many years for CFTC to just file a settling charges against JPMorgan. Perhaps we really need to see another dire effect of this kind of manipulations like financial crisis that CFTC or whoever agencies it is to have someone put to jail for bringing a disaster. So there some weaknesses to the legislative law that it is hard to draw the line between right and wrong.
4443  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Quantum resistance on: October 01, 2020, 09:01:42 AM
Nothing I guess, bitcoin will readjust if dev's know that it is already vulnerable so this so called quantum attacks. And as far as I know ECDSA or secp256k1 is quantum resistance as long as our public is not known. So as a bitcoin user, to protect us from this so called quantum attacks, we shouldn't re-used our bitcoin address. As for brute forcing our private key, those quantum machine will still need more computing power. And if so SHA256 will be broken, then we should go to SHA512 and so on.
4444  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / For the record, the last time we had a presidential debate, the price of bitcoin on: September 30, 2020, 01:39:44 PM

https://twitter.com/Travis_Kling/status/1311101954949443584

This tweet gives me a good chuckle, 2016, the price is below $1k, and now the the US has again, had their first Presidential debate, the price is well above $10k, so that's more than 10x gain in four years.

Wonder what will be the next price four years from the next Presidential debate? could the pattern repeats itself,  Cheesy

4446  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Manny Pacquiao vs. Conor McGregor on: September 30, 2020, 12:35:34 PM
just like Mayweather vs. Mcgregor fight, this will end up a Boxer won over streetfighter .
Conor is a great fighter but not inside the boxing ring.

i will definitely go for Manny pacquiao.

I agree that Pacquiao had an upset win against Thurman. But still I am quite skeptical about his chances against Mcgregor. He may be more suited for MMA, but Mcgregor is in the top of his form. Obviously you can point to his recent defeats (such as the loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in boxing and to Khabib Nurmagomedov in MMA), but his last performance (TKO against Donald Cerrone) once again proves that he's among the best out there.

BTW, one of the reasons why I would be making a bet in favor of Mcgregor is that the gambling odds will always be biased for Pacquiao, due to the huge number of fans who bet in his favor. I would say betting in favor of Pacuqiao is like a high-risk move, with potential for a low-return.

Boxing and MMA is quite different, if it's boxing, it's Manny who will win and if its in MMA it's obviously Mcgregor.
MMA vs boxer, not a good fight to watch but since this attracts money, good for them.

And one thing I would disagree, Pacman does not upset Thurman as he was the betting favorite in the fight.

Manny Pacquaio was not the initial favourite though, it was Thurman,

Quote
According to the boxing odds at MyBookie.ag on May 15, the opening line for the Pacquiao vs. Thurman fight had Thurman as a -135 favorite (wager $135 to win $100). Pacquiao's opening line was +115 (wager $100 to win $115).

https://www.forbes.com/sites/peterkahn/2019/07/05/why-manny-pacquiao-became-the-odds-on-favorite-to-defeat-keith-thurman/#32faffe45231

But the odds change as the fight gets closer, (which usually happen). However, in this fight, Manny should be the opening betting favourite and I doubt that Conor can overcome it. Obviously, they are going to fight in the ring, although Conor has a powerful left as well, Manny has a good chin, (although broken by Marquez), but still I believed it can hold against Conor's left. And we all know that Pacquiao is a volume puncher, his right hand is underrated, but I think it will be his main weapon against Conor and then it will be finish with his left.

Can someone help me register an account on this site?
I get restriction from the internet network provider I use on this site. It could be that the site has been blocked by the government. If I use a VPN, does the site prohibit it ?
You can definitely use a VPN and that would be a workaround. The thing is if you are in one of those jurisdictions mentioned in the Terms and Conditions than you should not play on there. It's up to you but you better be careful.

I believe he is from Indonesia like me, I do believe it is fine to use VPN.
Afaik Bitsler has local Indonesian community with many members, the local Indonesian chatroom is also active so there are many Indonesian users on Bitsler.
Still he should be careful if using VPN, better to use the paid one instead of the free one to avoid connection to other accounts.

I just checked their ToC: https://www.bitsler.com/en/tos

So Indonesia is not on the list of restricted countries. I'm also in a neighbouring country and I have registered without any issues whatsoever. VPN could be one alternative, but I would first check with your local internet provider to see what is the issue are before using VPN at all.

I think it's been on the lifeline for two years now, and this year we have witnessed it's call for help. True we need this kind of 'decentralised' store, but the truth it, nobody is actually using it. They are even comparable to to DEX today, as much as we have been calling traders to used it, actually only minority are into it, hence low liquidity, as compare to let's say CEX like Binance.

I know it's sad to hear that they might be closing in the future if no external help comes in. But it is what it is and I doubt that they will got the needed donation to continue with their platform. Again, this is evident two years ago, but for now it is not viable. And one factor is that it is there are a lot of limitations, and that makes crypto users stay away from their services.
4449  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA Season on: September 29, 2020, 06:53:19 PM
Yeah but that's not really my point. My point is that championships are won by superstars (yes of course there are always exceptions but for the most part this tends to hold true).  That said I'm probably the biggest Andrea Iguadala fan here on bitcointalk being from the same hometown as Andrea and being the same age I used to watch him play against my high school/buddies and just absolutely destroy us.  He might be the worst Finals MVP ever but man he has had one hell of a career.  I hope you hit on your bet.

That I don't agree much.
Superstars are a big plus but it is still won by a team play.
Remember, GSW ain't a superstar team when winning their first championship. I don't even know Draymond Green or Klay Thompson back then.
Then, there is Pistons as a good example with Billups, Rip, Prince and the Wallace's.
Another is the Mavs finishing the 3 musketeers of Miami (Lebron, Wade and Bosh).  Grin

I see a chance for Miami here but they will need to be ready by a bombard of offense and defense. Choking will be the reason they will be swept. Nothing more.

If Miami is going to lose this finals, I do hope that they won't get sweep though. There's a lot of factors in this match. Can Miami defend a team like Lakers that is too quick and a good defensive team as well? Who are going to guard Lebron or Davis?

As for the odds, yes don't sleep on Miami yet, they are a live underdog. There's no superstar in the team, but that is good enough to bring them into the finals. I remember Jimmy Butler's interview during their series against the Bucks and the man is full of confidence on his team. Now we know what he is talking about. And it seems he found his home in Miami and a click with coach Erik Spoelstra. And I think he will be the difference for Miami, if will go on to win and upset LA.
4450  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: September 29, 2020, 12:23:40 PM
Did anyone of you guys check the odds and put a bet?

[..snip..]
Nadal is the obvious favorite followed by Djokovic and Thiem.

Who do you guys think will upset them? Tsitsipas is very inconsistent will Schtwartzman and Zverev but comes short. It will boils down to Nadal and Djokovic again? The odds is still attractive, but I haven't put any bet as of yet.

Nadal has an open road to semi-final, with Zverev there, do not think that anyone can kick him out
Djokovic has an open road to semi-final as well, with only major player there, if we can call him that on clay, is Khachanov

Yes, Zverev is a potential opponent in the QF and then Thiem in semis for Nadal.

Djokovic will have Matteo Berrettini in QF and then Medvedev in semis. Another possibility is Tsitsipas in semis as well.

But we all know why Nadal is the favourite here, he is nearly unbeatable in French Open, 93-95. I think it will only be Djokovic who might be his top competitor.

TWITTER
• @IOHK_Charles – Bitcoin's price is going down? Remember everyone, after the FUD, news trading and manipulation clears out, we still have a global movement that's going to change the world. We will see 10k btc again and welcome 100k. Crypto is unstoppable. Crypto is the future.

Yes, interesting to see these kind of old thread and their predictions. This is pre halving and pre pandemic, and they are calling about bitcoin getting into the 5 digit range. And it eventually happen in 2020 even though we see the price have a massive decline due to corona virus outbreak, the only prediction that is worth to see is $100k, which coincidentally was the s2f model is also predicting in the next coming years. So let's see how it goes.

Well we can go back to a lot of threads in the past, even at 2010 people really don't know how big bitcoin will be in future. Even the 2017 predictions are off, if my memory serves me right, I saw one prediction saying that at the end of 2017, bitcoin will be price at $5k, but look at how everything ends, we also touch $20k back then.

So I wouldn't be surprised to see 6 digits in the future. S2F model is just one of the many predictions pointing to a direction that $100K is possible and a trillion dollar market cap.

4454  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Manny Pacquiao vs. Conor McGregor on: September 28, 2020, 01:22:47 PM
I know this will be a big night, and a big seller for the fans. However, I'd just like to see Conor actually get back into the UFC, and start earning his way back to a title shot. I'm not a fan of these boxing crossovers, since someone of Conor's quality, and persona should be fighting for titles, and not these white collar boxing events. I do think this will be a good fight, and ultimately Pacquiao will come out on top. Although, I'm hoping Conor, and Dana sort out their issues, and get Connor back in contention for the title within a few years.

If I'm not mistaken, Conor hinted a return to MMA, but obviously, it seems that the talks has break down because he wanted to fight Pacquaio now for a bigger money.

I do doubt it though, I believe Conor thinks he deserves big money for the once big name he was. Don't get me wrong hes still a massive name inside UFC, but he was taken apart in his last but one fight against Khabib, and against Cerrone it was too short lived to really get an idea of whether he can return back to the big names.

I think he had lost the enthusiasm once the taste the huge pay check fighting Floyd Mayweather. And he knows that no Dana or at least the UFC can't give him that, not even fighting Khabib. So his only options is to chase Manny and probably retire for good.
4455  Economy / Speculation / Re: Predict the bitcoin price range as we enter the New Year on: September 28, 2020, 12:29:03 PM
I'm not seeing the price going below 5 digits, on the contrary, we might see a new highs, probably in the range of $14k at the end of the year. There's a lot of indicators that we are somewhat in a sort of mini bull run, in the last leg of this year, we might see this bullishness specially approaching December.

So I would say $12k and up. Although there is still the looming financial crisis because of the pandemic, but people, just not in crypto, are starting to see the benefits of bitcoin as an asset. And we seen the during December, the price seems to have a good run. So with that said, my vote is:  $12,001 - $14,000.
4456  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: BOUNTY AND UNFAIR TREATMENT OF HUNTERS on: September 27, 2020, 11:53:10 AM
Just to be fair with the projects, perhaps they've learned their lessons from the 2017 bull run. Many bounty hunters cheats a lot of campaign with alt accounts but no one. complain that time from bounty hunters because they make a killing out of it. But the community started to have merits, and bounty cheaters are caught one by one. And then the project offering has been reduce and now we have started to hear this complaints for the last 2 to 3 years or so because the market witnessed a bear market.

I guess for bounty hunters, if you find the project offering you cheap rewards then skip and look for other bounties. We are no longer in the 2017 hype, everything has change then. It's no longer a "job" for everyone. You might as well be a trader or investor to make more money instead of joining scam and fraud projects.
4457  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Not your keys, not your Crypto – Kucoin Hacked! $150m Stolen. on: September 27, 2020, 11:05:01 AM
This is sad news for the crypto market and for Kucoin we all understand that there is no certainty in the crypto market and that putting assets on an exchange is risky.
However Kucoin has insurance and I expect the stolen funds to be received back.

If this is true, $150 million is a lot of money to be given back, and I don't know if Kucoin has that much money to refund back the stolen funds to their customers. And it might take months or years to refund that huge amount.

So if you are one of those who have lost your funds in the hack, I will say that don't expect to get your money the soonest. Don't be negative on my statement, it's not false hope either. And let this be another lessons for every crypto trader. For others who didn't lost, then good for you, but still having huge amount sitting in one exchange is not a good practice. Although it might merit to try CEX because of this incident, it might take a while though, because we all know that CEX has its own pitfall as well.
4458  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Charlo vs Derevyanchenko on Sept 26 on: September 27, 2020, 10:41:00 AM
I'm not a fan of the Charlo brothers, but I still think Jermall is going to win this one.

Derevyanchenko is coming off two losses in the last three fights, against similar tier fighters to Charlo (Golovkin and Jacobs). And he only beat a bottom-feeder like Culcay by decision.

I'm going to go for Charlo in 5-8 by KO/TKO.

Once Charlo wins, he'll still be in third place in the middleweights though, Since Golovkin and Saul Alvarez are the only two ranked higher than him, with massively better records too.

I'm also for Charlo he has a clear edge here but Derevyanchenko is a tough fighter, after this fight Charlo should go against Alvarez or Golovkin as clearly he is overshadowed by these two fighters he is third rank in the current middleweight champion he has no big fights yet compared to these two great fighters.

Alvarez vs Golovkin III is already in play, Alvarez vs. Golovkin: The Trilogy we've all been waiting for! , but obviously it needed to be rescheduled because of Covid-19 pandemic.

He can chase Demetrius Andrade for the WBO title, if boxing politics will not intervene.

As for Jermell, Patrick Teixeira is the only other title belt holder at 154 lbs, so a fight with him will be a unification bout.

In any case, good win for the twins, they have passed the toughest test of their career so far.
4459  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Casimero vs Micah - Sept 26 on: September 27, 2020, 10:02:26 AM
That's a disrespect to Inoue, he should take the fight, unless he is afraid.

I don't think it's disrespectful to Inoue, remember that English is not Casimero's first language obviously. We have seen worst, Floyd or Conor is way disrespectful to their opponent. He is just expressing the need for Inoue to really face him in the future, because he wanted to show that Inoue is not the monster that everyone wanted to project. And Casimero has proven that he can back up all this pre and post trash talk.

I wouldn't say this is an easy fight for Casimero, Micah offer him a lot in the first round. But obviously, Casimero is giving everything in his punch and it's very heavy. Micah has a chin as well, but it is the body shot that really take everything from him.

There's two whale already:

This can be a great gambling site considering big whales are playing into this site.

Yes, whales are waiting for new gambling site to come along and I think chips.gg offer them another way to play with their slots and promotions. So I'm not surprised that whales are already inside the casino.

I will echo the sentiments about crash games, become addicted to it on other casinos, the adrenaline is different as compare to playing dice on slot machines. It will be a good addition to chips.gg games.
