Reading questions like these makes me wonder if these people did learn any basic physics at high school... Facepalm
Physics does not teach such knowledge. It is better to ask unclear questions from experienced miners.
Knowing physics will not help you choose a good power supply for your mining farm. You can buy the most expensive PSU, but this is not a guarantee of the best choice.
I can write you a list of power supplies, and if you are a Ph.D. in physics, you will not give good advice.
This knowledge can be gained from your mining experience or the experience of other miners.

You nailed it, what's physics have to do with selection of power supply for your mining farm? How many physics experts even know how to build mining rigs? Can they do it without google help or asking someone? I turned a freaking riser backward and got my gpu killed, why can't physics safe me from this? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
You confirm my words. Some beginners damage their video cards in this way. You gain knowledge from your own experience, and your losses are your payment for experience.
Or you keep a close eye on those who have already made mistakes and teach other miners not to make similar mistakes.
You cannot service and repair mining farms if you are annoyed, hurry up, etc. Before turning on the mining farm, you need to check all connections and power cables.

Corsair HX series power supplies are some of the best in the world. They are the quietest, they do not heat up and correspond to all the declared characteristics. I have been using these power supplies for over three years and they have the best energy efficiency and a 10 year warranty.
If the question is whether it's worth paying the extra $ 100, then I would buy the Corsair HX.
I also use more standard 80+ silver power supplies because I pay us $ 0.04c per kw.
With your electricity bills, I would try to save every kilowatt.
4463  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Strange increase in hashrate after changing powersupply on: April 08, 2021, 01:12:25 PM
Miner29 can you pls share the type of memory your gtx1660 super is using? I have hynix memory 1660super and now even get closer to 32mh, getting 35mh per 1660super will be a real game changer, meaning with 3 pieces of gtx1660 super you are already at 100MH+
I have seen many miners who use such video cards, but they have a hash rate of 31 megahash from each video card.
You can get a higher hashrate for a short time by increasing the memory frequency, but the farm will not be able to work in this mode.
I would not use the maximum overclocking, because this will lead to overheating of the video card memory.
4464  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: In view that there arenīt gpus or the ones that exist have an exorbitant prices on: April 08, 2021, 01:05:48 PM
These video cards with unlocked at 8gb give a result of 36-40 megahash when mining Ethereum. (Depends on overclocking and power consumption of the video card)
I cannot say whether this is a good buy or not, because you need to look at the state of the mining farm.
In my country, these video cards cost $ 600-700.
How much money do you need to buy this 320 megahash mining farm?
Buying used equipment is always a big risk, and these video cards have been in mining for more than three years
4465  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: If you don't ask you don't get on: April 08, 2021, 12:55:19 PM
If you need support, then publish instructions for mining your coin for beginners, and profit from more common equipment.
Miners need a profit and they will mine the most profitable coins, some people mine coins for the future, but they need to understand what kind of project you have.
4466  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it safe to mine on a full (unpowered) x16 riser? on: April 08, 2021, 12:46:48 PM
I will answer with your terms.
full x16 riser are used to build farms on two types of video cards 470, 480, and 4 GB analogs for mining Ethereum using a lol miner and 3060 so that the Ethereum hash rate does not decrease.
Otherwise, you can use regular x1 raisers. This does not affect the hashrate in any way.
for your video card, be sure to use 6 pin raisers, for example
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002082548102.html?
do not use sata raisers

4468  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Problem with my GPU, GTX 1070 on: April 07, 2021, 03:20:35 PM
What type of driver version you using?
Nvidia: 465.89  - Look carefully at the logs

Toyoras

If you are using windows 7 or 8, install windows 10 pro.
For 1070, do not use the latest drivers, because the hash rate when mining Ethereum is lower.
What are your settings in the baht file?

Use MSI Afterburner for settings
Core +100
Porer limit -75
memory +500

no OpenCL no fun:

EDIT: system with one Nvidia 1080ti
Check the hash of the downloaded miner to make sure you downloaded a non-viral version.
Remove your drivers using utilities and download new drivers, but without Resizable BAR support. Use versions up to March 2021.
After reinstalling the drivers, the problem usually disappears. What operating system do you have?
4470  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Strange increase in hashrate after changing powersupply on: April 07, 2021, 02:59:07 PM
I'm getting 35MH on my gtx1660 super today after changing the old powersupply to a new platinum rated power supply, I don't know if this is what actually brings the increase in hashrate because I was getting 32mh before, does any of these makes any sense?

If your old power supply unit had an underestimated voltage of 12 volts, then a decrease in the hash rate is possible.
35 megahash is an outrageous result for these video cards.
I see 4 shares in the photo. This is a very short time interval for analyzing the results. Wait 24 hours and see the average hash rate on the pool

I have not seen 450 watt power supplies with the ability to connect 4 video cards Smiley
4471  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Lowering power consumption as possible on: April 07, 2021, 02:51:53 PM

1. Remove hdd from the PC and start loading OS either windows or linux straight from USB drive, 16gb recommended if going windows 10

2. If you can change that i5 cpu it will help, find something lower like pentium CPU instead, they are less power hungry

3. Use mini monitors for display like in picture below

1.To install Hive OS, an 8 GB flash drive is enough, for Rave OS - 4 GB. The price of flash drives for 8 and 16 GB is almost the same, but if you have 8 GB, then you do not need to buy 16 GB.

2. The processor has a power saving mode, and for simple tasks, most of the cores of the I5 processor will be disabled / inactive, so the consumption will not increase. But there is no point in using expensive processors in mining farms.

3. Why use a monitor on a mining farm? As a maximum, it is needed for the initial configuration, then the farm is managed through remote administration

4472  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Questions about mining software, pools and gas fees! on: April 07, 2021, 02:43:51 PM
Ok, I think the other question I already have the answer! With Awesome Miner I have an availability of softwares without the need to actually install them myself, so it's just a matter of allowing Awesome miner to switch between T-Rex, GMiner, PhoenixMiner, etc. That's great cause I didn't want to go into too much trouble.

Currently it's mining ETH with Trex 0.19.14 at 25.6Mh so there's work to do with tweaking these 1700s!!

Alright, I think I'm all set up here, just waiting for a few extra risers, set Binance mining pool and ready to mine!
If you use the hive OS and install drivers from 2017 or find an old version of the system in the interval 2017-2018, then your 1070 video card will be able to mine 29 megahash. With new drivers, the hash rate is worse, as if the manufacturers are doing it on purpose.
Choose any pool you like. Since you have 5 video cards, it is probably best to use the one with the smallest output limit.
4473  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 5.5c: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux) on: April 07, 2021, 02:35:18 PM
Does anyone happen to know what the newest Nvidia driver is that PhoenixMiner works on correctly?
The newst version of the miner (I asume older versions have the same problem) doesn't work with the newest Nvidia driver, I only get rejected shares.

Do not use GeForce RTX 30 Series drivers With Resizable BAR Support
Explore which processors and motherboards support this technology.
I looked at analytics from IT bloggers on this technology for games, and they have different results in tests - much worse than Nvidia claims.
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/geforce-rtx-30-series-resizable-bar-support/
Better install the latest drivers before March 30, 2021.
4474  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Power efficiency question on: April 06, 2021, 02:56:42 PM
Don't overpay for a power supply. Usually miners use 80+ Gold.
But there are also Chinese manufacturers who do not pass certification, but their blocks give the same results.
QDion QD 1500 90+
Yorjim 1600w 90 gold
etc
4475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Merged Mining on: April 06, 2021, 02:49:36 PM
I've never heard of Bitcoin being merged mining.
I know about merged Mining in Dogecoin & Litecoin
https://research.binance.com/en/analysis/merged-mining
But in my opinion, the profit in merged mining depends on the number of miners in the coin and on its price.
The more miners use merged mining, the less profit.
4476  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best internet connection for mining? on: April 05, 2021, 03:11:27 PM
I use a 4g modem, a compatible router with a USB port for the modem and an additional antenna to amplify the signal.
A mining farm does not require a 100 Mbps connection to work, my farms worked at a speed of no more than 4 Mbps.
So it turns out that in places where the cheapest electricity is usually very bad Internet.

I'm using a H+ modem and the result is very bad, latency around 1000ms to 2000ms and also causes lots of rejected shares, 4g Modem can do better job I believe, using 4g on my smartphone for mining the latency is always around 100ms to 300ms but still router gets the best result when mining, got this experience from a friend mining farm
Why does your modem perform worse than a mobile phone?
The 4g modem has an additional slot for connecting an external antenna, so the data transfer rate is higher.
And all mining farms are connected to a router with a Usb port.
In my opinion, a cat 5e cable is cheaper than Wi-Fi adapters for each mining farm Smiley
4477  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 33.1 MH is achievable on gtx1660 supers on: April 05, 2021, 03:10:02 PM
You've got a good graphics card that supports this overclocking. Basically, these video cards have a hashrate of 27-31 megahash.
For a long and trouble-free operation of the video card, I try to reduce memory overclocking.

Ya I was going to preorder 2x 3070 for aud$1200 but they just went up to $1700 the other day  Embarrassed
I could buy 2x 3070 Gigabyte Aorus for aud$1500 each, in stock atm.
Can claim 4yr warranty on them since I would get within 30days of payment.
Really dont want to pay more then au$1300 for gpu thou.
My power cost is us$0.28 per kw (highest in world for over 18yrs here) and thats the cheapest I can get it also,
only reason I can make any profits is because I have solar some of the time, looking into 2 small cylinder turbines too.

With the PSU would a 1300watt be enough to run 3x 3070 and a 1070? or should I look at 1500w?

I found these 2 from decent brands
https://www.auspcmarket.com.au/clearance-sale/seasonic-1300w-prime-gold-psu-ssr-1300gd/
https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/power-supplies/atx/70014-sst-st1500-gs?gclid=CjwKCAjwpKCDBhBPEiwAFgBzj3pcrxgwmP9AYb305cwXAkwLpxtW6FgTDSA7gEBqjge5ksVAeAbWNBoCUzEQAvD_BwE

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give (cant even post on reddit yet lol but you have been very helpful)

3x 3070 =3x120W =360W
1070 = 130W
mobo+CPU= 150W
total 640W
You can still buy 2 3070 graphics cards to use all the connectors on your motherboard. Your power supply will not consume more than 1 kilowatt of electricity from the wall.
seasonic-1300w expensive power supply,I would buy 2 power supplies

4480  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: HODL your ETH while you mine on: April 04, 2021, 10:32:20 AM
Looking at the market right now I believe that ethereum will keep growing higher and probably hit 3k soon, I think I'm going to keep storing my ETH from now on doing so can get you closer to ROI faster since the ETH you keep will add more in value, I suggest you do same thing if you buy your GPU at high price like many did this year
You will not be able to keep all the mined coins. Any miner has electricity costs, room rental costs, and others.
You can hold some of the mined coins, but some of the coins will probably have to be sold to get a return on investment in mining.
Because if a price dump occurs, you will incur losses.
Because if the prices of coins fall, then you will lose money.
