4461  Economy / Speculation / Re: get a loan and reinvest it on: April 08, 2021, 02:15:41 PM
Hello. I see different platform like nexo, blockifi, etc... that can borrow you crypto or stablecoin. I'm here to ask if you have a strategy for example you borrow btc with an interest rate of 6% and then you use it on defi with 8% APR. Thanks for helpful. Cool Cool

Taking loans out on any asset to invest into a volatile asset is a terrible idea always.  Thats how people end up bankrupt and rekt. Work more make more fiat and invest that.  Only put in what you can lose is what they say right.  Don't borrow to try to make money its a losing strategy.
4462  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Converting Bitcoins? on: April 08, 2021, 02:07:15 PM
Ok so if I convert Bitcoin to Ethereum I know I will be taxed. If I convert Bitcoin to GUSD, will I also have to report that to the IRS so I will be taxed?

Depending on your location yes.  A transaction is a transaction and in places that tax those transactions then yes you will owe taxes on the net gains you claim.
4463  Economy / Economics / Re: Why you can't be rich by owning crypto on: April 08, 2021, 02:05:48 PM
The value of Bitcoin have increased by 707% over the last year,  and the average deflation is 96%

As the value of Bitcoin increases, it's owners would have a reduced incentive to do their job, and they would retire at a younger age(since they would have enough money to live the rest of their life). This would decrease the global productivity, even if the demand remains same(or even increase due to increased wealth). This would in turn increase the price of all commodities almost at the same rate as that of Bitcoin(law of supply and demand)

So even if your rich, and your net worth is increasing with increase in the price of Bitcoin, after everyone have adopted Bitcoins globally, even your richness wouldn't be that much rich, since the value of the things that can be brought with those bitcoins would actually grow the same rate as the bitcoin(due to decreasing productivity)

The illusion that the value of your Bitcoin wallet is increasing only works when you compare it with other currencies, and if every other currencies go extinct, the only way to measure our currency is by number of things that can be bought for one unit(purchasing power)

I'm not sure if that's how it works, correct me if I'm wrong(I'm not really an economist)

Ypu are making it much more difficult than it needs to be.  Lets take the idea of the pizza from Lazlo.  In 2010 a coue pizzas and some soda cost Lazlo 10,000 bitcoin.  Today that same 10,000 bitcoins can buy you how many pizzas?  And in 10 years from now will it buy you even more pizza than it can in today's world.  If so your bitcoin you own is more valuable tomorrow than it is today making you "more rich".
4464  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: April 08, 2021, 01:39:42 PM
Not that it matters because the nets if all healthy will crush anyone in the East, but the knicks are really settling in on their annual 2nd half slide.  They continue to lose games by one or 2 points.  One shot here or there and its a different outcome.  They need to start winning these games.  Now sitting in the eighth slot things aren't looking hot for them.  A shame mitchell went down, with him in the game its a completely different knicks team.
4465  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why not wrap your Bitcoins? on: April 07, 2021, 12:55:15 PM
I would never hold bitcoin in any other form besides bitcoin.  I know this whole wrapping and eth, defi, yield, etc is all the rage but as quick as it started is as quick as it will end, and when everything shakes out I wouldnt want any of my bitcoin mixed in with some of this garbage.
4466  Economy / Speculation / Re: Altcoins pumping like crazy - is the BTC Bullcycle ending? on: April 07, 2021, 12:52:14 PM
Hi guys,

do you have any thoughts about the topic?

I found it an Indicator in the last two Bullruns, that when Altcoins pump really heavy like right now, it can mean the Bullcylce might end soon.
What do you guys think, do you have Indicators for the end of BTC Bullcycle

Thank you guys.

Kind regards.
Hector

I dont think that altcoin trading is an indicator one way or another in terms of how bitcoin will run in the short future.  They might have coincided with each other in the past but I dont think it can always be used as an indicator moving forward.
4467  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is trading an occupation? on: April 07, 2021, 12:49:03 PM
Its an occupation as you are making money and its a liability when you are losing money.  In short no its not an occupation.  You can consistently "win" or make a paycheck week to week.  It is what it is, trading and in some sense if you are trading altclins you are pretty much gambling.
4468  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: April 07, 2021, 12:45:04 PM
A good win by GSW, I thought that they are really out of the game, the lead balloon to 10 points, 5-6 minutes in the game. But then they step it up, Oubre hitting three's and the winning 2 free throws. Then Steph also hitting as well. Just a different GSW when Steph as the leader in playing in the game. He was rested in the first half of the 4th quarter, but the team keep it at a distance and keeps fighting.

It's really a team effort, definitely, when Curry and Green play, the team is very confident to win the game. I like their young core also doing their job, playing good defense. Bucks is without Giannis though, but Middleton is the one who keep them in the game. It's that Golden State wanted this victory to keep their hopes a live.

For Sixers, Joel just pick where he left off, another MVP performance.

They still got that mentality, being former champ they have the fighting goals.

They've maintain that chemistry as even they are really playing tough the desire to stay in this competion still inside the whole
squad, Steph really step up lifting again his team to snatch this game, Congrats to those who take them for ML and handicap
it's really a good value bet.

Curry really needs to be healthy especially now that his team is struggling, that was a close win but a great win because that's against the Bucks. I like how cluth Curry is in this game, he really is a real superstar as he always deliver right when his team needed him the most.

They are just a piece too short though.  I dont know if they can claw every game against tough teams like that.  In a multiple game series I think they would be exposed.  I really thought golden state would have been better this year.

Tough loss for the knicks tonight.  Had the game tied with 15 or so seconds to go and had the nets miss a shot.  Then give up an offensive rebound and a foul with 3 seconds to go.  They are starting to look like the second half knicks of past where they just flop into nothingness.  They need to snap this losing streak and string a couple wins together.

They are struggling, they need to solve this problem the soonest so they'll not go down. Nets are playing without Harden due to early exit but they just dont' have the ability to win in close game. Knicks had an impressive start but here we are back in the old days.

Completely feel like that.  In years past they played well up front and then before you know it they lose 16 out of 20 and are cemetery out of the picture.  Losing games by 1 or 2 points.   They need to win a couple of these games otherwise its just the same old same old knicks...I fear the latter 😑

I submitted 15 of the full-sized Ginter X black cards a few weeks ago, and they sat, status received but unchanged, until late last week. Now they’re in the grading phase, so I hope to have them back soon. However, I can’t help but wonder if (A) they will speed thru the grading process in order to catch up on the backlog and (B) how that speedier grading may affect the results. We’ll see soon enough.

Good luck to all the others who are waiting on graded cards.

Chris @ TBPCo.

Penny good luck to you.  Express was a good option, going value now will net you over a year wait time.  Pending how the results end up it will be a score.  I know its not popular thought here but overall I feel the card game will dip some its been very bubbly and when that "free" stimulus money spending dies down i expect these types of things like cards to slap a little.

Rough couple of nights.  Spurs taking a beating from Houston, and the magic actually looking like a team that isn't just go and lay down.  Overs seem to be a thing of the past, is defenses getting better?  I feel like earlier in the year every over was hitting.  Either way gonna be a good game from the sixers and Celtics tomorrow.  Early pick i le under 223.5 on that game.  Hoping for a tight game.

That premium is bonkers in today's market.  Would also like to know what if any buyers there were.  And on top of the 35btc there is a 2%escrow fee?  What is the function of the escrow and who would be the escrow in this transaction?  For what its worth I'm sure we all hope you got at least the min bid but I would assume you didnt.
4474  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: April 04, 2021, 01:25:29 PM
With the spurs loss, my win streak has been oficially ended.

I had some excitement when they rally in the 3rd quarter, but that's the only quarter it made me excited because after that, things are back to normal, Pacers just played well that game and even if the Spurs won in the OT, they could have not covered the spread anyway.

Everything does comes to and, but it's been an impressive streak to be very honest, big ups!

Early picks.
Nuggets -15.5 against the Magic
I don't know if it's worth the bet for others but it is for me.  Grin

That Nuggets -15.5 is too high but what Magic showed last night convince me that Nuggets could also dominate them. Sometimes magic can upset a favorite team but I don't think they'll do that with the Nuggets who are streaking hot now. I'm riding on the Nuggets pick but I'll probably take it during live, that's too high, maybe I can get like -10 at least.

I'd agree with @Freedomgo on this, even If I'd expect Nuggets to be dominate the game, a 16 points margin just seem rather to high, so I'd pass on this, but I wish you good luck with the bet.

With a spread that high it seems like a trap game to bet on orlando.  Wouldn't be surprised here if the nuggets by something crazy like 120 to 95.  I like the nuggets in this one here.  Orlando is going to start tanking, they just don't have the talent to keep up.

Swing and a miss with the knicks last night.  4th quarter they were terrible.  Tonight I am going with...dun dun dun the knicks -1.5 against the Pistons.  To counter that i am also taking the over at 201.5.  My hope is that they are more focused this game as they are slipping in the standings and need this game. But if they play terrible defense and lose it I expect the Pistons to have to score 110+ points.  Good luck tonight everyone
4476  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin had its best Q1 performance this year since 2013 on: April 02, 2021, 11:13:46 PM
Interesting but when we look back 50 years from now there will be a lot of coincidences and less amount of perceived trends.  Bitcoin is different now versus 5 years ago and the average investor/trader is different than 5 years ago so I dont expect bitcoin to always follow the same time trends day by day, week by week and year by year.  We will always see new "trends" form and break which will end up being just coincidences.  With that being said i hope we follow the same path a q2 is killer 🙂

Here's my pick

Game : Celtics vs Rockets.

Celtics playing 3rd game at home with 2 loses, I guess they are due for a big win and they can win against the Rockets here, probably this is an easy win by the Celtics with 15 points or more.

Therefore my pick is Celtics -11.5

I do like the Celtics I just don't know about the 11.5 maybe I might tease that down.  Honestly I like the knicks at home +6.  I know Dallas has looked much better but I like the knicks at home against a .500 team getting a bunch of points.  Looking for a big night out of someone else not named julius randall.

PSA is only shutting down orders for a bit.  They had a massive hiring frenzy so lots of new employees and they over ran their local usps.  This break is just to clear some of the clog, they probably don't have enough bonded storage space for the massive amount of orders.  They are currently expanding.  Business as usual in a couple months.

How's it going here?

After days of rest, I'm back with sharing my pick, I hope the streak will continue.

Early pick.

Game : 76ers vs Cavaliers.

I consider the Cavaliers as a real bad team, their struggle will continue and I like the spot of the 76ers now since they are in 2 losing streak but they have a good last 10 games record with 7-3.. so I'm expecting a bounce back win against this struggling Cavaliers.

Therefore my pick is 76ers -8.5

I'm tailing on this 76ers pick, even without Embiid I think the team shouldn't find it very hard to cover the spread.

My Main bet for today will be on the Brooklyn Nets -2.5 vs Hornets; I'm feeling a bit skeptical about this pick because Harden wouldn't be playing, and Griffin is also said to be unavailable.

Thats why the odds are so low, I still like them over Hornets.  Kyrie is going to shoot 40 times tonight lol.  All depends if he is on or not.  Could be a 50 point game from him tonight:)
4480  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: April 01, 2021, 10:53:39 PM
Nets -3.5 vs Hornets for 1.95? Is this some kind of a steal or there are a lot of injuries in the Nets roster that had not been announced yet?
Anyway, I might still bet for the Nets later while waiting for reports.

Two possibilities, it could be a steal or a trap, most likely a trap because Nets are just -3.5 which unbelievable the way they are playing.

I would stay away from this game of I would just bet a small amount, I don't like it, looks like a TRAP to me.

Meh I'm taking the trap lol.  Betting the over just in case.  No way nets lose a low scoring game against char right?  Also taking the Pelicans-9 here.  Think they easily win by double digits but I'm dead set in on nets and over.
