4461  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Halfsize Avalon "proposed" in latest update -- 45Gh/s on: April 23, 2013, 11:39:22 AM
Yeah a notification via newsletter in advance to give us time to deal with fiat conversion or to raise funds..
Last time me and two friends went thru hell to come up with the cash and we got butchered and robbed of our opportunity!  Sad
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=159340

We already know there will be a new batch for order, as they gauged interest.

You can expect the price in BTC will be lower than last time, based on their formula that takes in account (rising) difficulty and the expected payback time.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=155345.msg1670882#msg1670882

So BTC 45 - 50 tops

We know Avalon only takes payment in BTC

We know they want to promote people to use new BTC related services and tools like Bitinstant and other ways of buying and earning BTC (try for example Localbitcoins next time)

So logically you should already start to save up and gather BTC, and prepare. That way you'll not get caught in the last minute with your funds stuck in some foreign bank transfer and loose valuable time.

Well, I think we all know that batch #4 will arrive in late June, early July if everything goes well... That's 2 months from now, so you should multiply difficulty x3 (27 million aprox.). That would mean 25BTC in 30 days for a 45GHs. I really don't know how some of you guys say that you will be happily 50BTC or even 80BTC as I read earlier when BFL started shipping and chips are sold by the hundreds of thousands

That said, at 25BTC per 45GHs unit I would gladly buy +5 units. More than 25/30BTC per 45GHs, frankly speaking is too high IMHO. Difficulty will skyrocket very soon, just imagine when all those chips hit the network + ASICMINER + BFL, etc.
4462  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: List of Avalon ASIC batch 3 orders on: April 23, 2013, 11:28:58 AM
Base on current status of Batch#2, it is high possibility that the shipping of Batch#3 will be delayed too.

Looks like so - but then again BitSyncom said there is a slight delay in new higher speed assembler installation, once that is done, things should move much quicker. Fingers crossed.

Let me start looking into adding a received date column :-)

Yeah, I would love to see also a batch #4 at a very good price (let's say at 0.5BTC per GHs) shipped very soon (let's say early June). I would buy quite a few of those.
4463  Economy / Services / Re: BFL ASIC-750GHs Shares to Sell(1,500GH Miner) on: April 23, 2013, 11:20:29 AM
You all realize that the 1,500GHs miner does not exist and won't exist for a long time, right?

BFL fucked up with the project power consumption, 1,500GHs will never fit a single case and will take too much power for any residential installation.

Unfortunately buyers of the 1,500GHs mini-rig are screwed big time.
4464  Bitcoin / Hardware / Avalon batch #4 pricing? Speculate here... on: April 23, 2013, 11:15:03 AM
Given the difficulty projections now that BFL has started to ship (slowly) and ASICMINER is preparing a big deployment, I'm wondering what price we will have for Avalon batch #4.

They said shipping will be between late May and early June - nevertheless, because of past history I would count on receiving the units not before than July.

I would expect the difficulty go x4 from here to July, plus a very steep increase as soon as the Avalon chips hit the network (August/September?), thus I would pass on a 90GHs Avalon priced above 50BTC. At current exchange rate that would be still $72.2 per GHs ($6,500 for a 90GHs machine), which is pretty expensive when compared to the $50 per GHs of a BFL miner. Nevertheless, I believe that the higher cost of the Avalon would be justified because of their history of providing the product in (more or less) the announced timeframe.

What I'm afraid of is that the pricing will be MUCH higher.

What do you think? What will be the pricing for batch #4? And how much would you be willing to pay for a batch #4 machine, 45 or 90GHs?

4465  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMINER: Erupter Blades. Review, comments, photos, and discussion! on: April 23, 2013, 06:58:21 AM
Did all auction winners end up paying? I've got my batch #2 Avalon listed in goods at >40% off BlockErupter winning price with no bites from anyone, including those that bid over 42BTC but did not win. Seems like they would be all over a deal like that. I'd have to agree that this sale smells a little fishy.

The difference: blades were immediately available - in fact they have been already shipped. Avalon batch #2... Who knows when it will arrive?

Having the unit on hand makes a HUGE difference.
4466  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMINER: Erupter Blades. Review, comments, photos, and discussion! on: April 23, 2013, 06:55:47 AM
I'm interested to see if these will pay off or not.  76 BTC seems like so much to me.  Best of luck to you investors.

i think these guys are betting on BTC in the future is worth more than BTC right now...

In which case the 75 BTC would be worth more as well...

Yes, but the value of 75BTC @ 19th April (when i exchanged cash for BTC) != value of 75BTC @ 1st September.

So just keep your 75BTC until 1st September

If the difficulty grows as projected, those blades will breakeven at best, thus if you think BTC price will rise just hold on your BTC

Simple logic and common sense.
4467  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ☆☆☆ Opportunity to Invest in Avalon ASIC chips ☆☆☆ on: April 23, 2013, 06:53:13 AM
have you ordered the chips or are you waiting for people to fund this project?
Regards

We are waiting for investors to fund this project and as soon as we hit 780 BTC we will order 10k of Avalon ASIC chips.

Good luck with that.
It's so massively overpriced, it's not even funny.
Let's assume someone wanted to buy boards with a total of 10000 ASICs on them. 3500 BTC is, whatever, $425000 for 2800 GH/s?
Seriously, man?

Yeah, assembly 3,500BTC? I think they mistakenly added a zero, no way you spend 3,500BTC ($425k) to manufacture units with 10k chips.
4468  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ☆☆☆ Opportunity to Invest in Avalon ASIC chips ☆☆☆ on: April 23, 2013, 06:51:27 AM
4000+ BTC (net 15% management costs) for <3000 GH/s with a four month waiting period.

Vs.

80 BTC for >70 GH/s for batch 4.

Ummm...

3500 + 15% is roughly 4000 BTC

Assuming Avalon Batch 4 is 40BTC, why not just buy 100 Batch 4 units which should hash at 5000GH/s.  No need to cut your fingers or do any work other than setting them up.

Whoops I gave away my plan  Grin

I would REALLY hope Avalon batch #4 to be 25BTCish for 45GH/s and shipped at the beginning of June. If Yifu does that... Well, he'd be my hero. I wouldn't find it so strange given the fact that BFL started to ship indeed.
4469  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ☆☆☆ Opportunity to Invest in Avalon ASIC chips ☆☆☆ on: April 23, 2013, 06:39:00 AM
It would have made much more sense if you first bought the chips, then asked for funding. You are already a week behind of the first chip buyers, and you know time is everything in this game...
4470  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How I got robbed of 34 btc on Mt.Gox today on: April 21, 2013, 11:07:53 AM
Seems like MtGox need to start using some form of email-verification before the transaction to other accounts/out of MtGox actually happens.

Huh
How about people stop being cheap and just buy a yubikey. Is $30 (or however much it costs) too expensive to protect your money? Email verification pales in comparison to having a physical hardware token. Come on people,  stop being cheap and just buy the thing!

Come on, you just need to do a couple of small trades and they will send you a yubikey for free

And Google Auth is free too

This is the low.

Do you want to buy any?  I have some for sale.

HAHAHAHA

This was good indeed

4473  Economy / Speculation / Re: Yup, still feeling bearish. on: April 19, 2013, 03:20:48 PM
Think about all the people who bought from ~150 to the ATH - what are they going to do now? Sell as soon as they can, imo. If they were sophisticated enough to hold then they probably wouldn't have bought in at those prices in the first place.

Many sold ad 50-70. And sold lots of coins.

This is true. We have ATH volume the last days. Just a couple of days +500k coins dumped, volume was even higher than in the first bubble. I don't think there are so many who have a significant amount of coins willing to dump - they already did.

This does not mean we are NOT in a bear market: we are clearly in a bear market. I think the mindset changed for a lot of people: before the crash it was "let's hold to see where it gets". Now its more something like "let's see how soon it arrives to $130 so I can sell". I say $130 but it can be $150 or $160, that point is different for everyone, but I think its clear the mindset changed a lot.
4474  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BFL starts shipping Jalapeno this week!? on: April 19, 2013, 03:04:36 PM
I hope they will ship it with the power supply. When I preordered almost a year ago it would run from the USB buss and it would be half the size.  Undecided
that's what i thought 2, now it got 25-50 design
about power supply, lol  Grin
if they ship 5 gh's soon i would be happy with or without power supply, i just need that thing makin some money as soon as possible.

Yeah, you will make tons of money with a Jalapeno, you will be able to buy peanuts almost once a week.

The available trading platforms for cryptocurrencies are laughable at best. A site that controls 80% of the market can barely keep it's servers afloat. Our team of web developers and coders are working tirelessly to present a trading platform to envelop ALL cryptocurrencies under one platform.

We will make it easy to deposit and withdraw your funds in whatever way you wish to receive them (fiat or crypto). We are also developing an API for third party trading software.

If we are going to move Bitcoin, Litecoin, and other cryptocurrencies into any prominence we need a powerful, effective exchange that sets a true value on these currencies. JOIN US BY LENDING YOUR SUPPORT HERE! http://igg.me/at/replacemtgox/x/2833550

Hey, what kind of low-level trolling is this?

You really think somebody is going to fund YOUR exchange, with no reward at all?

Keep dreaming.

Emergency! I have semi-large sell order 1 cent below 150... Not sure if i should close it, was expecting a more gradual thing with thinking time! What to do - help!

sell
4478  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Bull Market is Back, Baby on: April 19, 2013, 07:01:09 AM
If resistance at $130 is broken we will immediately go up to $150/160

and we will see

Funny, 150/160 was exactly what I predicted would be the price at the end of this week in another thread.

I could bet 130 and 150/160 are breakeven points for a lot of people.

Anyhow we already seen days with INSANE sell-offs, we had ATH in volume, so I don't think there a lot of coins left for massive selloffs

4480  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is anyone else seeing this strong resistance above 92? on: April 18, 2013, 10:28:26 PM
Spike to 102, not much resistance left at this level.
So much for theory.  We should already know that Bitcoin has fundamentals on steroids.
FWIW, next resistance at 115, then blue skies to 170

We'll see resitance at $130 and $160, very common b/e points
