Back then it was entirely possible. Sri Lanka was a really good team, capable of giving strong competition to big 3 teams and India had a weak bowling attack (especially in the pace bowling department). And back then, Virat Kohli had just started his career, and was being overshadowed by heavyweights such as Gautham Gambhir, Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag.
It is true that India had weak bowling attack than Srilanka at that moment. It was advantage for Srilanka but don't forget that batting line up of India was the best at that time which Srilanka had not.

Well.. you can say that... players such as Sehwag, Sachin and Gambhir were among the top-10 batsmen at that time (I am not listing Kohli here, because at that time he was not being considered as a "legend"). If we talk about the bowling, then Sri Lanka had Lasith Malinga and Muttiah Muralitharan, who were legends. For comparison, India had Zaheer Khan, Sreesanth and Munaf Patel, with Harbhajan Singh being the first-choice spinner.

Agree, now bounty has come to an end and we won't see many successful campaigns like before, so we need to work a lot harder than before to get the best campaigns

Yeah, although at this time it's very rare to find a good campaign, that doesn't mean the crypto project is dead. We must be patient and keep trying to find a good project, I believe, of the many outstanding projects, there must be a good project. Hopefully we can see the golden age of the crypto project as it did in 2017.

There may be new projects out there and I am not discouraging anyone from participating in them. But I have made my opinion clear in one of my previous posts. There is no respect for bounty hunters here, despite all the hard work they put in. Unless this mentality change, I am not going to participate in any of the bounties. Another condition is that the exploitative rules of bounty campaigns must be changed.
4463  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: COVID-19 and its effect in Gambling World on: April 02, 2020, 04:35:07 PM
Yes, what you're saying is right. I agree that but at least we can try to get immunity from consuming healthy food and live healthy so the virus cannot break into our body. By staying at home can help us to prevent the spreading of the virus, and I think every people in every country can do that. We help ourselves, the doctor help the patient, and we can reduce the infected people by the virus. We also forced by nature to live healthy by this virus because if we see in the big cities and growing cities, healthy lives do not become the main thing.

If everyone stay at home for 14 days, then there will be no new infections. Because the Coronavirus can survive in the air for only a few hours. But the problem is that there are a lot of anti-socials out there, who believe that it is cool or macho to break the rules and put others at risk. Also, there are some teenage idiots, who think that Coronavirus infect only the elderly people.
4464  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: COVID-19 and its effect in Gambling World on: April 01, 2020, 06:46:42 PM
So everyone should stay at home right now and listen to their government, probably for the first time ever governments are actually right about this one.

The government response varied from country to country. For example, in countries such as India and Russia, they have enforced draconian lockdown measures. Those who venture out without a pass risks getting arrested and put behind bars. At the same time, in countries such as Belarus and Brazil, the administration has refused to act against the outbreak. In Belarus, even sports events are allowed to go ahead as planned earlier.
4465  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Have you received coins or tokens that you forgot that you promoted on: April 01, 2020, 06:38:09 PM
LOL... this has happened to me a couple of times. The last time I participated in a bounty was sometime in 2018. But even in 2020 (almost two years later), I continue to get tokens credited to my ERC-20 wallet. Back then I had participated in a large number of bounties and I had given up on some of the campaigns where it looked like the payments are getting delayed. But now I am surprised to find the rewards getting credited, after such a lengthy delay.

That's almost 1 year and 4 months time before we will be able to see the Olympics. I hope this will give players and countries to continue the preparation and those who were lacking in preparation can utilize this additional time and come strong after an year.

Because of the COVID 19 outbreak, sporting events are being cancelled and the athletes are not being able to train properly. Even if this situation comes under control within the next 2-3 months, it will be tough for many of the athletes to get back to their regular routine. It is going to be an irreversible damage, which may take a few years to reverse completely.
4467  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WHY THE BLAME ON BOUNTY HUNTERS FOR SHITCOINS? on: April 01, 2020, 06:26:13 PM
Some time bounty hunter only allow what recommended by bounty campaign manager, after seeing who is the bounty manager they will allow and joined the bounty campaign without checking first, they have know with bounty manager review about his bounty management before update.

This is a strategy being used by many of the bounty hunters. But I would say that it gives no protection against low quality projects. A good bounty manager may make sure that the bounty hunter receives his tokens. But at the same time, these tokens will be useless if the project is not performing well and if the development timelines are not being honored.

My prediction : India Bats first and SL is going to chase down the target easily.. Sangakara wins the World Cup for his team by hitting six...  Cheesy

I don't know whether Binance will manipulate the data or not. But one thing is sure. From now onward, Coinmarketcap can't claim that they are an independent and unbiased organization. They may not be having any bad intentions. But what is the aim of Binance? What do they plan to achieve from this purchase, after spending such a huge amount of money to acquire CMC?
4470  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: March 31, 2020, 06:04:07 PM
Folks.. it is not just Cricinfo, which is doing these "RetroLive" and "Virtual Reality" matches. A few days back, another website was showing the virtual match between the PSL finalists. I don't blame them. There is not a single cricket match ongoing at any part of the globe. On the other hand, football fans have the option to watch the Belarussian Premier League. Too bad that cricket is not a popular sport in Belarus.  Angry

While, BCCI is desperate to find a window to host the entire IPL (49+ matches) in August - September, PCB is finding it hard to complete the PSL 2020 playoffs (4-5 matches)  Tongue Looks like they are in a state of uncertainty whether to postpone the playoffs to November or declare Multan Sultans as the winners as per the Play Rules.

Source: https://www.republicworld.com/sports-news/cricket-news/psl-2020-unlikely-to-be-completed-this-year-due-to-coronavirus-crisis.html

If I am not wrong, then only 3 matches remained in the PSL before it was suspended due to the COVID 19 outbreak. But I watched most of the group stage matches live on DSPORT and I have to say that the matches were of very high quality. I would say they were more of IPL-BBL level, rather than BPL-Super Smash level. The crowd response was really good and the foreign players performed well. They should not worry too much about the remaining three matches. What they achieved was phenomenal.
4472  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: March 29, 2020, 04:08:07 PM
This is only a time where it is underrated. Once we start WIPL may be for a year or so it would not get a good response but definitely in coming times we will see a good response and if it done by India where people are crazy of cricket and if get some good support from celebrity as well people will come to see them and surely we will have a packed stadium as well. Only a matter of time before it starts getting to pick up.

Being an Indian, I am a bit more skeptical about the future of the WIPL. Even matches involving the national women's team doesn't get a good response within India. In Australia, the women have a lot of interest in sports and a lot of them follow women players such as Ellyse Perry. But here in India, women are more interested in TV sops and shopping, rather than in sports. Among my female friends, there are only a very few cricket fans.

But that doesn't mean that BCCI can ignore the women players. They need to start the WIPL, latest by 2021.

I am working full-time since 2006. During this time, I managed to build a good portfolio and I was planning to buy a new house in 2022. But the ongoing COVID 19 outbreak has disrupted my plans. 50% of my portfolio is made up of cryptocurrency and till now it is down by 40%. Another 30% of the portfolio is made up of equities and mutual funds, and I am in deep red here as well. I am feeling depressed right now. It seems like the world has ended for me. My dreams are all shattered and I don't have any hope for the future.
4474  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is why I sold my 0.67 BTC!! on: March 29, 2020, 03:39:20 PM
Hello Community! What’s going on? Hope you guys are safe & staying home! Basically, I live in New York (I’m an expatriate indeed) & you guys know the current situation!! We are suffering badly, although I’m not scared of! Last night I sold my loving 0.67 BTC, since I need cash money!
I believe, in near future when the situation will be normal, I’ll buy it again since I have no doubt on the future of BTC & its use case! Please guys, stay home stay safe & don't forget to pray for us.

What to say? Ideally I would have asked you to wait for a bit longer, but I am also getting skeptical now. Global economy is inching towards the deathbed and within a few days the number of COVID 19 infected will cross the one million mark. The total death toll is now more than 32,000. Here in India, we are under a strict lockdown and it will continue till April 14th. A lot of people have lost their jobs and there is a gloom in general. I would say one thing at this point. This is even worse than the recession that we had in 2008-09.
4475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty alone is not enough on: March 29, 2020, 03:18:54 PM
If a project has no angel investors and no sponsors, I believe they will fail in the future. A big project will never depend too much on bounty, because bounty only helps their project become more popular. If they wanted to find investors through bounty, their strategy was wrong

The basic purpose of the bounty is to advertise about the project, through various social media channels such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube.etc. And for emerging projects, there are hardly any good options apart from the bounties. A very few may manage to advertise using mainstream channels. But the vast majority of the projects may not have the financial strength to do something like that.
4476  Economy / Economics / Re: Corona has killed economy of many businesses on: March 29, 2020, 03:06:20 PM
No one knows when it will end. Headlines like "coronavirus cure found" have mushroomed since February, but working on vaccine may take 6 to 8 months. I can't accept a statement that corona killed the economy. It wasn't merely panic around the virus.

It is very hard to create a virus against these viruses. Because they mutate very rapidly. Even if you come up with a vaccine against the COVID 19 strain, a few months later another mutation can appear and the vaccine will have no impact on it. And with the virus infecting almost 700,000 people till now, I think that mutations may have already occurred. By the time the scientists come up with a vaccine, it may not even be effective against the virus.
4477  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in multiple altcoins on: March 29, 2020, 02:53:20 PM
Five altcoins is a very good way to start, remember you will also need to always monitor the coins you are holding and if you are having too many it might be hard to monitor all, I prefer Bitcoin, BCH, ETH, Chainlink and Neo

I would agree with this. IMO, 5-6 is the optimal number. If you have half an hour or one hour to spare everyday, then you can manage this many coins. Anymore than this, and you would struggle to track them all. I am saying this out of my own experience. At one point, I had more than 40 different coins and tokens in my wallets. In 2018, I made a very tough decision to keep just 5-6 of them, and to dump the rest. And surprisingly, it worked out very well for me.
4478  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: March 29, 2020, 02:47:20 PM
It doesn't matter if there are no cheerleaders or much prize-money ( although I prefer same prize-money for both men and women tournaments , it might be difficult as men sports gather much larger views than women , unfortunately) or any other thing , all they need is a platform to showcase their talent and in the meantime the audience to enjoy the matches.I think they can play a new 15-over IPL ( I think it will be interesting ) . I feel 10 overs is too less and 20 overs is more in a less scoring match , 15 overs would be ideal .

Anymore reduction of the already reduced 20 overs per side would mean that bowlers would completely lose their significance in cricket. I would say that 20 overs is ideal. The batsmen have the advantage here, but still the bowlers have something to play for. If you reduce it any further, then it will become boring, as you will only witness one type of shot from the batsmen during the entire duration of the match.
4479  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: IPL Mutual Pool Discussion. on: March 29, 2020, 02:13:36 PM
Can I slightly take this discussion off-topic? Because I want to have a debate about the player salaries.

I came across this article recently:

https://www.thecricketmonthly.com/story/1123792/who-gets-paid-what-in-cricket

And I was surprised to learn that the annual contract pay for Steve Smith ($1.469 million) was greater than that of Virat Kohli ($1 million). And even more surprising is the fact that within the Indian team, the individual with the highest package is the coach Ravi Shastri (popularly called "Damaadji" in India), with a package of $1.17 million per year.

Here is how Shastri's salary compare with the salary of other coaches:

4480  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: March 29, 2020, 02:12:12 PM
Just now I checked the schedule for the 2019–21 ICC World Test Championship, and was surprised to see that no matches were scheduled for April-May 2020. The IPL was supposed to happen during that time, and therefore the cricket boards decided not to play any bilateral matches during this period. But their calculations may get disrupted, in case IPL gets shifted to Q3 or Q4 2020.

Just to keep everyone update on this...

BCCI makes deal with the ICC and other boards, Its same business as usual as far as i know. In this deal BCCI gets open window for IPL, ICC gets big chunk of money and prominent boards gets money +commission + bilateral series on regular basis and on special cases in very suitable holidays. Ever wonder why Australia never visit any country on boxing day?

I don't think that BCCI will make any deal with the ICC or with any of the other boards. ICC was forced to block two months every year in the international cricketing calendar, for the IPL. This has been happening ever since 2008. I have never heard about the BCCI reimbursing either the ICC or any of the other boards for this inconvenience. Actually they don't need to. BCCI controls a large part of the ICC revenue and therefore they can do whatever they want. The other boards have limited options.
