4481  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano S Plus on: July 04, 2022, 02:55:22 PM
I was reading more complains from customers of ledger nono s plus devices, showing that built quality is not very good.
Plastic is poor quality and I saw several reports of plastic parts cracking around the screen similar like with old model S like I reported before:
https://www.reddit.com/r/ledgerwallet/comments/vq08bh/ledger_nano_s_body_cracked_and_screen_does_not/

Second issue I noticed was with one of the buttons on this device stops working after short time, that makes it unusable.
You can replace this with new device if it's still in warranty, but question is what happens after warranty expires:

4482  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: What do you think about UKISS Hugware? on: July 04, 2022, 02:39:53 PM
While it does look neat, I would not buy it. I don't think that I'd buy a HW that doesn't allow me make an old fashioned non-electronic backup. If that's the only option, I'd simply use cold storage for the relevant funds.
I think that Ukiss Hugware won't be the only hardware wallet using system like this, unless something changes in future Block (Square) is planning something similar for their upcoming hardware wallet.

Other than looking like a cool pocket knife, this thing is a non-starter.  It has absolutely nothing going for it.  It's closed source, no independent backup, and no recourse against loss or failure of just one of the two required devices, making it a potential loss just waiting to happen.
Biggest problem for me is the fact that you can only use Hugware with their Hub software, and no third party wallet could ever work with it.
In case their company goes bankrupt (like many crypto companies today) they will probably shut down their node, that would make Hugware useless and all coins lost forever.

Even though the R-key doesn't have the ability to add a wallet or move assets to another account, it can still be used for "importing wallets" and "sending/receiving assets" to/from other addresses [a bit strange], but I still hate every bit of this hardware wallet [e.g. they're not even selling them separately]!
This is full table of differences between A-key and R-key.
I don't know how moving of assets is different from sending, but it is certainly limited.

4483  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BestChange is not a scam on: July 04, 2022, 02:27:05 PM
We have made it clear that what matters is not the jurisdiction of the exchanger, but jurisdiction of the custodial service they use for receiving and storing cryptocurrency.
But how can we know what jurisdiction they use if they didn't disclose this information anywhere on their website, and they didn't say what third-party exchanges they are using?

Firstly, the point is not about confiscation in this context, but about freezing for the time of investigation.
In case with openchange this was not temporary freeze of funds for investigation, they wanted to confiscate 100% of coins (without kyc), until customer said he will reveal their sensitive information in public.
Now they are holding 10% of his coins, and it's clear there was no investigation at all.

This would be misleading. If this policy would be implemented in a limited number of services, but in reality, this happens very often, that’s why we would need to put mark on 90 percent of exchangers, which contradicts the principles of marking. We mark only those services that do something untypical.
I think that 99% of forum members involved in this discussion thinks that BestChange review system is currently misleading and needs to be improved, so we can't all be wrong about that.
It's not misleading at all to say that some exchanges are asking for kyc more often than others, and isn't this the main reason why most people are using BestChange in the first place?

We check over dozen of various technical parameters, besides professional linguistic analysis, to remove the majority of fake reviews, both positive and neutral, paid for by competitors of this or that exchanger.
I would like to see some statistic with number of positive feedback being deleted, but I am sure number of those is much less compared to closed deleted negative reviews.
If I post 100 positive and 100 negative reviews, I am sure that 100 negative reviews would be deleted, and more positive reviews would stay.
This is how your feedback system works, and hiring more workers wont really fix this issue.
4484  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Hacking a Samsung S3 to recover a Bitcoin wallet on: July 04, 2022, 01:44:05 PM
This was interesting video to watch but spoiler alert, ending was very disappointing and title was again just a clickbait commercial self-advertisement campaign from Kingpin.
I guess he earns a living like this so I can understand him, but why saying fake $6 million number in the title  Tongue

How about Don't use gestures as lock codes in the first place?
I honestly didn't know how insecure gestures are, but I generally don't trust modern smartphones at all.
People think that newer smartphones are safer, but I think that opposite is probably closer to truth.
Using strong password for phones is not a great idea, unless you want to type it every time device gets locked, and that is time consuming and boring.
I don't think that PINs are much stronger than gestures, and I am sure most smartphones have similar hidden backdoors giving them easy access if you know what you are doing.

4485  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Need helping finding the right wallet for me on: July 04, 2022, 01:32:45 PM
Let's say I save the private seed of my Exodus wallet, how can I be sure that in 20 years from now, Exodus wallet will still be a working product, that I can download from a new computer perhaps and import my seed into?
You can't be sure that anything will work 20 years from now, and mostly likely Exodus and most of the stuff you have now won't work.
If you look back in past there are already some bitcoin wallets that are not existing anymore, like Multibit or many old ledger devices.
This is not the problem for Bitcoin as long as you have seed words or private keys in safe place, you can always recover it and use any wallet available in future.

The private key of my Bitcoin wallet is different ofcourse, but I do wonder, will this private key allow me to import the address into other wallet softwares? Or do I have to import it on Exodus?
Don't speculate and try it right now, you can even create new test wallets and see if it works, and it should work just fine.
You can have multiple addresses formats in many wallets (Electrum for example) and bc1 format is currently best one you can use.
4486  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Crypto lender Celsius mulls possible restructuring amid financial woes on: July 04, 2022, 01:18:56 PM
Do we know if Celsius's loan to 3AC, which was the catalyst for their collapse, was over collateralized, under collateralized, or not collateralized at all?
I don't know about that but I am starting to think of all other companies like Celsius, and first thing that pops in my mind is Crypto.com (nobody is talking about it) and maybe even Robinhood.
Maybe we should create a list of all alternative similar platforms, and warn people to stay away and withdraw any coins they have there.
Same thing could apply for all centralized exchanges, even those with highest trading volume like Kucoin, Bitfinex, Binance, etc.
Withdraw your coins and don't wait for them to start firing people and blocking accounts.
4487  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] KRAKEN.COM - Exchange with USD EUR GBP JPY CAD BTC LTC XRP NMC XDG STR ETH on: July 04, 2022, 01:08:18 PM
Why is kraken.com so very slow nowadays? Every click that has something to do with security takes about 30 to 60 seconds.
Are you by any chance using Firefox browser with some adblocker like uBlockOrigin or some other extensions and custom settings?
If nothing else helps I would try testing it with some different browsers that should be updated with latest versions, maybe try Brave (based on Chrome) or fork of Firefox called Librewolf.

On Kraken website I found a page for Browser troubleshooting, so it may help checking that out also:

4488  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM EXCHANGE: Openchange (Openchange.cash) (PARTIALLY SOLVED) on: July 04, 2022, 12:57:27 PM
A couple of days after public posts, threats that I will expose their previous wrongdoings, their use of fake identities and everything else that I have found, and proved them that I do have some info, like names and addresses of their Australian Paypal accounts, that I will report them to every hosting, domain registrar, etc. they accepted to process my exchange after answering a few questions, without KYC, but to keep 10% as fee because transaction is high risk.
So, I got 90% back.
I never heard of any exchange that is charging extortion fees like this  Roll Eyes
It's better than nothing, but did openchange returned your Bitcoin from the same address you sent them, or they used some different address?
For me it's obvious all their ''high risk''kyc transaction talk fee is bs, and they are using this as an excuse to make extra shady profit from their customers aka stealing.

I also noticed they just added ToS where they can take 10% for "high risk fund" which didn't exist few days ago (unfortunately i didn't archive it).
They can't retroactively change terms like this and steal 10% from people like they did from Janyiah201...
This scam exchange should get blacklisted, everyone should avoid using it, and BestChange needs to have this information seen on their website feedback.
4489  Economy / Services / Re: [FULL] WasabiWallet.io Review Campaign | 0.002 BTC/Review on: July 04, 2022, 09:42:08 AM
I used old Wasabi wallet before, so version 2 was a big change for me and I needed some time to get used to all the changes.

First thing I saw in new wallet is new terms that I had to accept and that is legal document between service proveder znSNACKs and me as the person who is using this service.
Money laundering is strictly prohibited in this terms, and we know that can have different interpretations, so by using Wasabi wallet I basically have to accept Coin Filtering
that is done by zkSNACKs and they have no obligations to disclose any details about that to me as a user.

After accepting new terms I had to wait few minutes until Wasabi was synced and I could create a new wallet by generating 12 seed words.
First problem for me happened when I tried to create new wallet connecting Trezor One hardware device, but it failed many times reporting that something is wrong with my device, or I had to unlock it.
My Trezor works perfectly with Electrum and Trezor Suite, so I thought that new Wasabi maybe doesn't support Trezor, but in their documents they claim to support Trezor, ledger and coldcard.
I have no idea why Trezor doesn't work with Wasabi for me, and I guess developers needs to fix something.

After this fail I experienced one more problem with Wasabi wallet.
I sent coins in Wasabi for Coinjoin and I decided to test how new coinjoin works, so I selected option for maximum speed and pressed start that looks like a play button.
Wallet was on for whole day and nothing changed, privacy was still showing 0% after many completed rounds of coinjoins.
Next day I decided to disable Tor and try again Coinjoin, because I heard there were some issues with Tor network... but with no luck.
My privacy was still 0% and coinjoin didn't happen even with Tor disabled in settings, and reason for this is unknown.
Note that I could complete coinjoins with older Wasabi version in past without any issues, but maybe they are not accepting my coins this time.

I could send and receive coins just fine but I personally don't like new interface for this, and then I run into third issue.
After searching everywhere in settings and on their website I found out that there is NO COIN CONTROL in Wasabi version 2?!
We are 2022 and I don't understand thius decision, but some information I found from Wasabi team is saying they did it because most people don't use coin control correctly  Tongue
Instead of removing something completely it would be much better to have it in some hidden settings for advanced users.

Few things I like about Wasabi is dark theme and discreet mode, but I think that everything else is a step back compared with older Wasabi wallet.
Lack of coin control, unsupported Trezor wallet, and inability to perform coinjoin makes my conclusion easy.
Unless some big changes happen I probably won't use Wasabi and I will use other wallets for everyday use and for privacy reasons.

4490  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM EXCHANGE: Openchange (Openchange.cash) on: July 03, 2022, 11:18:15 PM
Sounds like OpenChange need to come clean here and tell OP which third party service is currently holding his coins ransom.
Did anyone ever saw any of their team members in bitcointalk forum?
I doubt they will register here and explain anything, but there is still hope to get this information via BestChange forum members.

I would be asking for the results of the audit so he can independently verify how they have decided that mixed coins are "100% stolen", since that is clearly and provably incorrect.
I can't wait to see this ''audit''  Cheesy

How authentic these reviews are? I feel negatives were not displayed but only the positive reviews are there.
This is standard practice with most websites and services, they only show positive feedback with questionable history.
For example, I know ledger model X hardware wallet had many complains from customers (battery, firmware issues, etc), but if you check their reviews page it has almost perfect score:
https://shop.ledger.com/products/ledger-nano-x?view=reviews
4491  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM EXCHANGE MONITOR: BestChange on: July 03, 2022, 10:58:05 PM
Honestly no one was scammed by Best_Change. How would they? BestChange is a site who compares exchanges and help the users to pick the best service to exchange their corns. I will not accuse Trustpilot for losing money in a site just because I saw positive ratings about the site in Trustpilot.
I would agree on this one with you, and I am not blaming BestChange for scamming anyone, but I think they could be misleading customers with their reviews.
Can you imagine if Trustpilot would only have positive feedback, what would be the point of that website?

The question here how BestChange are conducting business with the exchanges. Because these exchanges give them money to list their site, they are obviously biased to work for the exchanges. They need a system which favours the exchanges. Otherwise there are no point for them to have a controversial UX which shows 0 negative rating for all the sites they list.
I am not even sure how websites get's listed both on BestChange and similar websites like TrustPilot, and we can clearly see big exchanges there like Binance, Kraken, Bittrex, etc.
I don't think CZ or other owners would paid anything to BestChange for listing there or they gave them some percentage, but than again only they have few negative reviews on BestChange website.

But when it did not then they are in the forum seeking our help. How are we going to know all of it?
I think that BestChange needs to make major rework or their review system, or things like this will continue to happen in future.
Today it is issue with KYC, tomorrow it can be with something else, and there is no way to see real history of solved/unsolved problems with exchanges.

I've used BestChange too, and posted in their topic several times. I like their service.
I used them as well before and I had good experience, but if same thing happened to me with 0.25 BTC I wouldn't be happy about it.
4492  Economy / Reputation / Re: Royse777, Bitlucy and long story in brief on: July 03, 2022, 10:33:48 PM
It's dirty when you pretend to be a friend to benefit your business.
He never pretended to be a friend and you don't know what happened with him taking over some of your campaigns, but I guess I could also ask him to prove how he got this latest job  Cheesy
However, Royse I think you don't need to reply like this with counter attacks, it's much better to prove you are not owner with few telegram conversation screenshots.
One image speaks better than thousand words, and I have to say that you could handle this much better.

I think that JollyGood and Yahoo62278 are being a bit overzealous, especially Yahoo62278 who gave Royse a negative feedback just because he was not happy with answer he got from Royse.
Yahoo should read better what was written in this topic before, because I said that me and several of DT members read some of his private conversation, that is showing he is not the owner of Bitlucy, so no need to keep insisting so hard on that.
I have no idea why he keeps pushing so hard and it's not like his history of campaigns is perfect, or was it ok to promote Yobit and similar stuff Wink

4493  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: I am panicking on: July 02, 2022, 09:21:45 PM
What about running a big magnet over the hard drive? Wouldn't that irreversibly delete everything on it and even break the whole disk?
There is no way you could do this unless you are using really old hard drives or magnetic tapes for storing data, and if you use several strong industrial grade magnets for this purpose.
I don't think that modern SSD are affected by magnets, but you can use metal shredders or anything else that recycles electronics.

Now that's scary.  Assuming the device wasn't compromised along the supply chain, one would still need physical access to the device to attack it this way, correct?
They don't need physical access to your device if they have control over servers that distribute firmware, that all devices need to download and install.
Speaking about that, everyone should know that ledger is doing something similar with ledger live app having no signatures to verify.
ledger co-founder aka reddit moderator btchip is aware of this problem, and they are migrating to new github repo:

4494  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium: how to verify address on hardware wallet? on: July 02, 2022, 09:02:38 PM
I try to stay away from that company.
You know that company Shapeshift actually owns Keepkey (I believe they purchased them in 2017), so they are probably monitoring all transactions made with your hardware wallet unless you are using your own node (if that is even possible) Cheesy
4495  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The Lightning Network FAQ on: July 02, 2022, 08:57:30 PM
There is one more centralized exchange adding support for Lightning Network, that is Bitflyer from Japan, but they are also working in other countries around the world.
I never used this exchange and I think they have mandatory kyc verification (someone correct me if I am wrong) but this is good news for growing LN.
I can't find any information about their node and it's status, but there are some information on their websites:
https://bitflyer.com/en-us/FAQ/lightning_us

4496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: My questions regarding wallet on: July 02, 2022, 08:47:51 PM
I use a trust wallet to store crypto. My question is how safe it is to store over $20k coins? Yes, of course, I take care of keeping my mobile safe and virus/malware free so never click on any unknown link as know about his as i am in IT field.
It doesn't matter if you are working  in IT or not, I wouldn't use Trust wallet for storing any coins, or I would use it only for pocket change money.
This is closed source wallet and you can find better open source alternatives that probably work even better.

There are many YouTubers who always recommend for hardware wallet to store coins valued over $10k but i have following questions regarding hardware wallet?
I don't really care what most youtubers have to say, they are paid shillers and they are probably recommending one more close source crap like ledger.

What if I lost or damage my hardware wallet? Do i need to buy same hardware wallet and restore my coins? or can use private keys in any other online wallet and get my coins back?
And what if you lose you mobile phone with trust wallet?
It's much more likely to lose or damage something you carry with you everywhere all the time.
You should keep backup seed phrase offline on paper or metal, and you should have strong password and passphrase for your account, so it' doesn't really matter if you damage hardware wallet.
You can always restore all your coins to any BIOP39 supported wallets, hardware and software.  Roll Eyes

What if the hardware wallet is damaged or corrupt?
What kind of question is this... you buy new one if you want, or you don't, same like with anything else that gets damaged or broken.  Roll Eyes

4497  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Recent events should make you withdraw all your coins to your own wallet: Part 2 on: July 02, 2022, 08:29:49 PM
Voyager are next to freeze all their customers' accounts, essentially holding their money hostage
I never even heard about Voyager app until now, and I don't know why people use that for such a small earning percentage.
Taking a big risk, giving custody of your bitcoin to someone else, just to earn 12% annually is a terrible deal, but hey who am I to judge what other people are doing.
I just checked their website and sure enough, they have their own shitcoin token with revolutionary staking crap...
Let's make prediction for next crypto vompany going bust in this bear market, maybe something connected with Tether?
4498  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Kucoin users, are your withdrawals okay? on: July 02, 2022, 08:22:53 PM
In an interview with Forbes magazine, Sam Bankman-Fried mentioned that there are smaller exchanges that are now secretly insolvent. He did not mention specific exchanges, however, there is someone on Twitter who said that there are rumors that Kucoin will halt withdrawals in the near future.
He is just trying to make better deal because he is trying to purchase other small crypto companies and expand his reach, especially after their deal with Celsius is gone bust.
I don't think this has any connection with Kucoin that is one of the biggest crypto exchanges in the world, but I would still not keep any coins on Kucoin, FTX or any other centralized exchanges.
If you are not big time trader, than se exchanges only for trading, and non-custodial wallets for holding your coins.

Why is your portfolio on an exchange at all? The only coins which should be anywhere other than your own wallet are coins which are being actively traded.
I have even better proposition.
Pretend like you don't have any portfolio and uninstall all portfolio tracking apps, especially during bear markets, and you will sleep much better Wink
4499  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM EXCHANGE MONITOR: BestChange on: July 02, 2022, 08:12:07 PM
We don’t have a notion of a “negative review” on our website, the red marks unsolved financial claims to the service. Maybe it’s not the most obvious UX-design, but our service is over 15 years old, out of which for 13 years it has been exactly in this design and loyal users know about this feature.
That would mean that all other (positive) reviews available for exchanges are just solved financial claims?
I don't think your explanation is good enough, because I can clearly see people praising service, saying communication was great, and we can also see love messages...

The icon is obligatory only if KYC is obligatory for every (or for the absolute majority) of transactions. It there are random KYC-check for transactions with high level of AML-risk, we don’t make exchangers set this icon.
You need to add information for ALL exchanges with random kyc check may be performed and coins could be confiscated.
Alternative option is to say that all exchanges could ask for kyc.

Currently, our staff number has increased sufficiently to process the majority of these cases manually, that’s why we are already working on changing this system — soon exchangers will have a very limited number of attempts to lift a claim on their own, without our interference. Please wait for this update, we are already thinking about all the details.
So what happens if I create bunch of fake positive reviews and ''attack'' your system like that?
Why don't you consider that to be abuse in the same way like you consider ALL negative reviews?
For example, I could hire bunch of people to make minimal transaction and write 100 or more positive reviews for openchange or any other exchange I want.
You can't control this manually and delete every negative review like you are doing now.
4500  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM EXCHANGE: Openchange (Openchange.cash) on: July 02, 2022, 07:58:21 PM
Indeed; I got a positive impression of BestChange since browsing Bitcointalk, since respected community members wore the BestChange signature. But this case makes me hesitant to continue trusting BestChange in general. If BestChange ratings can so easily be manipulated, it begs the question of what use that site even is.
I didn't know how this ratings work but I certainly don't like it and I don't understand why would positive feedback be any different from negative feedback.
If they say how someone could abuse feedback for negative reviews, than I can say that anyone can do exactly the same thing for positive feedback to create fake reviews.

In my country, Greece, it is not legal to make a purchase worth of beyond 1,500 EUR with cash, as they say, to avoid tax evasion. You must only make it with bank accounts, credit/debit cards and cheques.
This is crazy, I don' understand how people accepted this rules Shocked
So that means you can't even buy a laptop, bike or cheap used car with cash if it's 1,501 euros?

It now sounds like OpenChange uses deposit addresses owned by another exchange, and not their own funds. If that's the case, the Reserve: $175 804 859 probably isn't correct.
I think they are probably using Binance and other similar centralized exchanges like that, and they use their own account for trading and taking percentage earnings.
Any exchange that uses third parties should notify users about that in their website.
