1  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance founder should be jailed for 36 months, US prosecutors say on: May 01, 2024, 02:35:04 PM
I don't see why is that surprise as just because prosecution asked for 36 months doesn't mean that he will automatically get that sentence, especially after he pleaded guilty.
Yeah but he looked suspiciously happy in that photo he shared, as if he made a deal with certain someone Wink

In many countries (like for example my country, Croatia) people like him wouldn't spend a single day in prison let alone few months.
I am sure he won't be in regular prison with killers or worst kind of criminals, and if Roger Ver survived 10 months in prison than CZ can do it also.
Speaking about prisons, I hear that Finland have best conditions in the world, even sauna is provided for inmates, and rooms look more like in average hotel.
Most US prisons are not like that, and I hear Canada is also asking for CZ head.
2  Economy / Exchanges / Re: eXch - instant exchange BTC / LN / XMR / LTC / ETH / ERC20 on: May 01, 2024, 02:28:10 PM
@eXch
Since you are already supporting LTC and you probably run litecoin node, may I ask if there a chance you can add support for Litecoin mweb addresses on your exchange?
This will increase overall privacy and you could be one of the first exchanges to add support for mimble-wimble in Litecoin.
Litecoin Core wallet already supports ltcmweb addresses, another wallet is forked ElectrumLTC.
3  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: PNNV.com - Major update #2 - need your review, again! on: May 01, 2024, 02:17:02 PM
NO KYC EXCHANGE = MIXER.
You can't put a ''mixer'' sticker on anything you want  Roll Eyes
Bisq is open source decentralized exchange without any kyc and it's not a mixer.
You can't send Bitcoin to any exchange and receive different bitcoin back, so exchanges are not a mixer by definition.
Some third party partners can also make any bitcoin risky, even if it's coming from casinos and gambling, that is silly and it makes bitcoin fungibility questionable.

4  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: 55 Hardware Wallets, compared feature by feature on: May 01, 2024, 02:00:03 PM
Added Grid+ Lattice1
I am not a fan of this Lattice1 hardware wallet and it's price, and I think it is more focused on ethereum than on bitcoin,
but since you added it already maybe you could also add their more affordable product that is used as a seed backup solution, and it's called Safepack.
Safepack is sold in pack of two cards and price is $40:
https://gridplus.io/products/safe-cards

PS
I still prefer Satochip card instead for this purpose.
5  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: PayWithUs - Virtual cards - NO KYC. Pay with Crypto. on: May 01, 2024, 01:45:32 PM
What other virtual cards that are no KYC but has custom names? Mind to PM me?
Sure I can, check you PM, I don't want to hijack this topic.
Please note that there is a risk with all crypto virtual cards, so I am not giving any guarantees if cards are going to work for sure or not, and I can't be sure if any of the cards would end up in a bad way.
6  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: OrangeFren.com - instant, KYC-free, exchange comparison on: May 01, 2024, 01:41:00 PM
There's a prize of 0.5 Bitcoin for correctly guessing the BTC/USD rate in a few days time. The competition doesn't require any KYC.
Crazy that I predicted very similar bitcoin price in different competition.  Shocked
Congrats to guy who won this reward Wink

We're already doing a Cryptosteel Capsule giveaway together with eXch here on Bitcointalk. We'll be doing a giveaway of MoneroKon tickets soon too, we might do it on Bitcointalk, I'm still not sure
Thank you for that, I appreciate it.
Both OrangeFren and eXch are doing some amazing things, not just with giveaways, but in general how you are operating and working in this crazy conditions of the brave new world.
7  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [No KYC] Prepaid Cards and Virtual Phone Numbers are available on Stealths on: May 01, 2024, 01:32:27 PM
Still looking for a Virtual card provider that can be used with Apple...
I think your best option is to look for apple gift cards.
There was several providers (Bitrefill, thebitcoincompany.com) who sold them for bitcoin and other cryptocurrency, but I am not sure they are still offering them.
Just make sure to use matching IP address to avoid getting rejected.

As far as I know they are providing virtual cards, not prepaid cards. This is probably the reason you were able to use it on Apple Store.
Is there any chance Stealths could provide non-kyc physical cards in future?
There is a demand for products like this.

PS
I just noticed Stealths has been listed on Kycnot.me:

8  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is this an obvious misuse of merit? on: May 01, 2024, 12:59:01 PM
No, this is not a reputation topic. It is about merit and not anyone's reputation. Merit related matters belong to meta.
Yes it is.
Even your topic title it is saying MISUES OF MERIT  Roll Eyes
You are talking about member and feedback he received, not about forum related stuff.

I insist that this is not a reputation issue, I think it belongs here. I am interested in knowing about the right and wrong use of merits. I think the topic is more of meta than reputation. Unless a moderator thinks otherwise.
Go ahead if you want to be silly and continue fighting with moderators and theymos Tongue

9  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Legendary Memeber defaulted 60$ Loan [chaser15] on: May 01, 2024, 12:53:43 PM
Flag supported.
He just ruined legendary account from 2015, but account probably changed hands since than.
Based on his merit history it appears that there is some connection with member harizen, goinmerry and few other accounts, that is probably all part of a larger farm  Tongue
10  Other / Meta / Re: Top reporters on: May 01, 2024, 12:39:23 PM
If I remember correctly, he used some automation tools to make it faster to report shitposts.
Ratimov was also very active with reports back than, not sure if he also used any tools or not, but he made reports mostly in his local board.

Frankly I don't know why I bother doing the reports, other than it gives me a personal satisfaction to see absolutely shitty posts get deleted. Bonus satisfaction points if they would have counted toward that week's sig campaign payment.
Same here, but I think it makes forum just a little bit easier to use for me, at least for boards that I usually visit.
I certainly wouldn't spend hours reporting posts every day just so that I could have reporters badge, but it would be cool if theymos could release fresh list of top reporters.
11  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is this an obvious misuse of merit? on: May 01, 2024, 12:31:41 PM
This topic belongs to Reputation board, not Meta, so better move it there.

Member krishnaverma received only neutral feedback so I don't see why this would be any issue, especially for some other member like you, unless there is some connection between you.
However, other members previously received merits for running bitcoin nodes, making bitcoin art, and doing other stuff, so I don't think his price prediction rewarded with merit should be a problem for anyone.
12  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase implemented Lightning Network on: April 30, 2024, 09:27:08 PM
As the title says, after last year's announcement that they are working on LN implementation, Coinbase announced earlier today that "starting today, support for the Lightning Network via @lightspark
will begin rolling out." and therefore joined many other top CEX (Binance, Kraken, Bitfinex etc) that already did that.
It's ''hunting'' season now so this news won't get much attention  Tongue
I wonder what happens if bunch of people connected with LN gets arrested soon?
Phoenix LN wallet just removed their apps from both Android and iOS stores, and I think all LN wallets could be in trouble sooner or later.

Just wait until average Coinbase customers try to use Lightning wallets... if they thought Bitcoin was hard, lightning will be impossible to use for them, and they will probably use some custodial wallet.
Don't even get me started about many issues with closing and opening of channels, and that most of the LN is centralized.
13  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam warning - Yomix mixer, turned into an exit scam! on: April 30, 2024, 09:00:20 PM
Secondly, how would they know that a certain user was from a darknet forum and another was from a clearnet forum?
By using your brain and eyes.  Roll Eyes

Hey dkbit98, on the other forum you say the only positive they had was mine. I don't know if it's a matter of your custom trust list but julerz12 is on DT2 and had also left positive feedback for them. Maybe someone should let him know about this too.
I dont have any custom trust list anymore, I  think I pinged both of you in one of my posts in bitcointalk forum.
This was just a suggestion, and I know he was a manager that worked with them before so he is well aware of current situation.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / MemoryDealers aka Roger Ver Arrested! on: April 30, 2024, 06:51:27 PM
We are officially at war!
One of the Bitcointalk forum members known as MemoryDealers aka Roger Ver was allegedly arrested in Spain for tax fraud.
Everyone knows him since the early days of Bitcoin, and later he supported BCH as one of the bitcoin forks with larger block size.
I was never one of his supporters but I respect what he did in early says of Bitcoin.

This was his last post in bitcointalk forum:

You can see what you described at https://map.bitcoin.com/, although many places are using Bitcoin Cash over Bitcoin at this point due to the poor user experience on BTC.

I wrote a whole book on what happened too: https://www.amazon.com/Hijacking-Bitcoin-Hidden-History-BTC/dp/B0CXWBCWDR/ref=zg_bs_g_10806607011_d_sccl_1/133-2063248-2793037?psc=1

Early Bitcoin Investor Charged with Tax Fraud

Man Known as “Bitcoin Jesus” Evaded Nearly $50M in Taxes
WASHINGTON – An indictment was unsealed yesterday charging Roger Ver, an early investor in bitcoins, with mail fraud, tax evasion and filing false tax returns. Ver was arrested this weekend in Spain based on the U.S. criminal charges. The United States will seek Ver’s extradition to stand trial in the United States.

According to the indictment, Ver formerly of Santa Clara, California, owned MemoryDealers.com Inc. and Agilestar.com Inc., two companies that sold computer and networking equipment. Starting in 2011, Ver allegedly began acquiring bitcoins for himself and his companies. He also allegedly avidly promoted bitcoins, even obtaining the moniker “Bitcoin Jesus.”

On Feb. 4, 2014, Ver allegedly obtained citizenship in St. Kitts and Nevis and shortly thereafter renounced his U.S. citizenship in a process known as expatriation. As a result of his expatriation, Ver allegedly was required under U.S. law to file tax returns that reported capital gains from the constructive sale of his world-wide assets, including the bitcoins, and to report the fair market value of his assets. He was also allegedly required to pay a tax – referred to as an “exit tax” – on those capital gains. By Feb. 4, 2014, Ver and his companies allegedly owned approximately 131,000 bitcoins that traded on several large exchanges for around $871 each. MemoryDealers and Agilestar allegedly held approximately 73,000 of those bitcoins.

Ver allegedly hired a law firm to assist him with his expatriation and to prepare his expatriation-related tax returns. Ver also allegedly hired an appraiser to value his two companies. Ver allegedly provided or caused to be provided false or misleading information to the law firm and appraiser that concealed the true number of bitcoins he and his companies owned. As a result, the law firm allegedly prepared and filed false tax returns that substantially undervalued the two companies and their 73,000 bitcoins and did not report that Ver owned any bitcoins personally.

The indictment further alleges that by June 2017, Ver’s two companies continued to own approximately 70,000 bitcoins. Around that time, Ver allegedly took possession of those bitcoins and in November 2017 sold tens of thousands of them on cryptocurrency exchanges for approximately $240 million in cash. Even though Ver was not then a U.S. citizen, he was still legally required to report to the IRS and pay tax on certain distributions such as dividends from MemoryDealers and Agilestar, which were U.S. corporations. Ver allegedly concealed from his accountant that he had received and sold MemoryDealers’ and Agilestar’s bitcoins that year. As a result, Ver’s 2017 individual income tax return did not report any gain or pay any tax related to the distribution of MemoryDealers’ and Agilestar’s bitcoins to him.

In total, Ver is alleged to have caused a loss to the IRS of at least $48 million.

Acting Deputy Assistant Attorney General Stuart M. Goldberg of the Justice Department’s Tax Division and U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada for the Central District of California made the announcement.

IRS Criminal Investigation's cybercrimes unit is investigating the case.

Assistant Chief Matthew J. Kluge and Trial Attorney Peter J. Anthony of the Justice Department’s Tax Division and Assistant U.S. Attorney James. C. Hughes for the Central District of California are prosecuting the case.

An indictment is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Topic will be updated with more information later, but I am interested to hear your opinion about this.

OPEN for proposals
16  Economy / Reputation / Re: BitcoinGirl.Club: How a condescending attitude equates to trust exclusion on: April 29, 2024, 07:15:18 PM
Wouldn't come here if you did not tag me. I excluded you from my trust list because I don't consider you the same person I had dealings with in the past.
Interesting little observation.
There was some issue with his account some time ago, it was claimed to be hacked or something, and I see a lot of password changes.
He didn't reply anything to your post but it would be interesting to hear why this member changed his posting habits, if he is in fact the same owner.

PS
Without revealing anything, I can only say that BitcoinGirl.Club contacted me few days ago and asked if I received any message from icopress telling me to distrust him.
He also showed me some half edited and censored screenshots that I never asked to see, so I can't say what really happened.
One thing I know for sure, this forum is full of snitches  Wink
17  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: How secured are Trezor Safe 3 ? on: April 29, 2024, 06:59:11 PM
Eventually, I got my Trezor hardware wallet. Upon setting it up, I discovered it doesn't have a battery
So you want to have battery that dies and creates chaos like in ledger nono X?  Roll Eyes
There is not a single good reason why battery should be added in Trezor Safe 3, but it's easy to connect it with simple power bank if you are paranoid.

Are we sure the apps won't pass the seed to Trezor when it is connected to the Internet?
Yes we are, but if you want to verify for yourself than first learn coding skill and read data from ledger source code.

Out of curiosity, which part of the onboarding process was harder in comparison to Ledger?
It's much easier to use than ledger crap.
No stupid apps, and no stupid memory limitations.

18  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: E-devices suitable for backup storage of seed phrases. on: April 29, 2024, 06:39:41 PM
I found one old Casio G-shock watch that could work very good as device for storing seed words, but this should not be used for storing large amount of coins.
Exact model of watch is G-Shock G-2900, it was released back in year 2002 and it not manufactured anymore, but it can be purchased as used device.
G-2900 have one of the largest data memory from dumb casio watches, and this can be used as offline storage for keys and any other text, with additional password protection.
This watch is perfect for traveling, it is very durable, hard to destroy, and it won't bring much attention from anyone.

There was also one hardware wallet BITHD Watch 2 that looked more like modern smart watches, but it is not produced anymore and Bithd website is down.
It would be interesting to have more hardware wallets in form of wrist watches.

19  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Sparrow Bitcoin Wallet on: April 29, 2024, 06:20:08 PM
I prefer to lose the whirlpool feature, rather than losing the wallet.
Do you think it was a wise choice? The question obviously goes to everyone who have been using Sparrow
I dont think whirlpool is going to survive in the form it worked in last few years, so yes it was only reasonable decision they could do to avoid the same destiny as another wallet with Japanese name  Tongue
However, that doesn't mean that we should now all give up the fight for more privacy on bitcoin just because it's hard and dangerous thing to do.

20  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Can what happened to Samourai Wallet happen to Electrum ? on: April 29, 2024, 06:13:19 PM
I saw that the founders of Samourai Wallets were arrested and that the website to download the wallet was frozen. I guess this has made users of this wallet unsecured.
Do you think this can happen to other software wallets ? Especially Electrum ?
It seems that we are in Wild Wild West, so they can do anything they want now, because they have the ''guns'' in their hands.

I don't think that Electrum wallet is going to be one of their primary targets, and I wouldn't worry much about that, but they could always add more pressure on electrum developers and servers.
Being anonymous bitcoin developers with good security practices is worth a lot these days, and it would be a smart decision hindsight.
