4481  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Where would Twitter go after its takeover by Elon Musk ? on: December 09, 2022, 09:04:32 PM
Everyone seems to be ignoring the definition of a shadow ban that was given when the claim was made and using a different definition that would make the statement a lie.

Semantics is the weakest form of argument.  Trying to use doublespeak now to pretend they weren't lying is ridiculous.  Twitter was lying and got caught red handed.  I'm sure the abuse goes even further than what we've already seen, and what we've already seen is enough to distrust our government.  When you look into all the details of ex-alphabet boys getting positions in Twitter to make their manipulation easier from the inside and it's clear as day that this has been happening.  Although everyone already knew this because it was obvious.  Now it's fact instead of conspiracy theory.  The really crazy part is that YouTube and Facebook are even worse offenders but have deeper pockets to avoid a buyout.  I hope this latest set of events has them terrified and questioning their bad behavior.  I hope it all comes to light in the end and liberals are able to digest they've been brainwashed while being mature enough to switch their views based on their new understanding of reality.
4482  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NFT ?? What do you think about it ? ? ? on: December 09, 2022, 09:00:47 PM
I still don't understand what the phenomenon of these pictures is.It's funny to me to watch how what cost hundreds of thousands yesterday is worth nothing today.I can understand if the nft is attached to the subject of real art and it gives the right to transfer, then yes.
I have never bought them and do not plan to, I do not see any uniqueness in them except as a record in the blockchain.

I think that eventually all financial assets will be tokenized on the blockchain.  It's crazy to me that there's no real way to prove I own shares of anything in my brokerage account.  You just have to trust your intermediary.  We've all seen how well that works out with the FTX case.  I'm sure just as shady activity is happening with major brokers, but they've had a long time to figure out how to hide their holdings from the public and operate as fractional reserves.  The transparency that NFTs could bring to the world of finance shouldn't be understated.  Stupid works of art, yes, now they are.  Someday they'll be how you prove you have retirement funds.  First though I think NFTs need to take over the gaming sphere and do away with companies stealing from children for skins that can't be resold.  Then that generation will require proof of their investments and NFTs will be that proof.  It's coming, although probably a decade away.
4483  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Medically assisted deaths could save millions in health care spending: Report on: December 09, 2022, 08:42:48 PM
I personally find medically assisted death a topic which is hard to stomach.
We all have read or heard about the right to live and right to have access to healthcare... but having the "right" to die would open several new and scary implications to the population of a country or the world.

If Death becomes a right and if we normalize it even further, what would be the limits?
If a young adult decides their life is not worth living anymore, would any kind of intervention to prevent it be considered illegal? against their rights?

Would crisis-lines be abolished?

I assume this is how population control will begin in countries with socialized healthcare systems.  First, everyone will cheer as they all get access to free medical care.  Then they'll discover that the wait times and care received are horrendous.  In order to combat that problem the government will first allow people to begin having their lives ended with medical procedures, then when budgets continue to grow out of control they will look for new cost saving measures.  You get X disease, it's too expensive to care for you, so you'll be medically euthanized for the good of the population.  Want to have kids?  Sorry, you said there were only 2 genders so we're going to sterilize you.  Born with an uncurable disease, sorry, we can't afford to treat you, euthanasia.
4484  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: December 09, 2022, 08:32:53 PM
The UFC implementing the McGregor Rule?  It seems the UFC is not happy that their biggest star has turned into a steroid freak movie star and wants to make it harder for him to return with a new set of hoops for him to jump through after waiting 6 months to fight again once he starts being tested for PEDs.

https://www.bloodyelbow.com/2022/12/9/23501197/usada-announces-new-conditions-for-fighters-coming-out-of-retirement-ufc-mma-news

While this is probably the right thing for everybody involved, I have to say that I wouldn't mind if the UFC started a new fighting class for people who do not want to undergo testing.  At least then you know that the competition is fair.  I'm pretty sure most of these guys have ways around the testing procedures anyway.
4485  Economy / Goods / Re: WTB vintage NES and SNES games on: December 09, 2022, 08:19:02 PM
I still have my original Nintendo I received as a gift back in the 80s.  I would never part with it though.  I'll admit that there's been more than one occasion when some drinking led to challenges of Tecmo Bowl (I never lose) or a few Super Off Road races.  I may even find myself playing a game of Mike Tyson's Punch Out here and there.  I think I lost the 4-player adapter and most of my other accessories, but it's possible I may have a power pad (the thing you ran on) or a power glove (the controller you wear like a glove) sitting around that I am not very fond of.  No idea what these go for, but if it's a decent amount I could go digging through the attic...  I'm guessing eBay is probably full of this stuff for cheap though.
4486  Other / Meta / Re: We can not discuss if 'ChipMixer is a honeypot or not' outside their own thread? on: December 09, 2022, 08:12:30 PM
WoW! Just WoW! As soon as I created this thread here, the thread got unlocked and moved from Bitcoin Discussion to Service Discussion. Nice Ninja move by someone in the moderation team to tarnish my reputation in public eye. Kudos to the people who think, after spending 8+ years on BitcoinTalk, I can not recognize the difference between a locked and an unlocked thread. I should have taken a screenshot. My mistake, that I did not.

Well, doing something behind your back also counts as admitting that the decision was a mistake, so I don't really see all the fuss for this topic now. We can go about our own lives now, I wouldn't get upset about things that some stranger on the internet does.

As the shadiness of mixers is slowly being revealed and regulation is beginning their crackdown, maybe sweeping all the curious behavior surrounding Chipmixer and it's paid supporters here under the rug isn't the best idea.  Seeing this latest complaint makes me think that moderators shouldn't be allowed to participate in paid signature campaigns.  They're already being paid to be here by the forum itself, why allow them to continue abusing conflicts of interest to double dip?  It seems like others should continue to post threads like this calling out questionable behavior and those engaging in it should be checked for conflicts of interest.  Feels to me like moderators of this forum shouldn't feel the need to have to protect their income sources by abusing their positions here, but what do I know, I'm just a disgraced former contractor.

4488  Other / Archival / Re: SONDORS Metacycle - $5,000 (now $6.5K) Electric Motorcycle on: December 09, 2022, 07:55:11 PM
Sure, make those of us in the north who can't ride all year jealous :-)

Seriously congrats and enjoy it.

Obligatory since I don't know how much you do ride / have ridden: electric bikes have a totally different feel off the line and in the torque curve. Although one like this is probably not as bad as the Livewire or a Zero, don't just hop onto a trafficked road, do a few loops in a parking lot 1st.

Been there done that. Hopping off a 125+HP 80 ft-lb torque bike onto a under 50HP and 80 FT-LB torque Zero I almost launched myself into the side of the building.
The power is just THERE no clutch let out, no build up, just go.

-Dave

Thanks.  Giving some background on my riding experience...  The only street motorcycle I've ever ridden was a Hondamatic 400 about 20 years ago.  I crashed it into a brick wall trying to beat an automatic gate after leaving a party (I was a teen).  I decided after looking at how I rode the thing that I would for sure kill myself because I have what some may call impulse control issues when it comes to dangerous activities.  I'd like to think I'm more wise and responsible now, but we'll see.

That being said, the Hondamatic was also an automatic clutch motorcycle, so I feel like it will be somewhat similar to the Metacycle.  However, if you enjoy my coins at all and have been thinking about buying any in the future, I'd recommend doing so before I start riding this thing around town.  Maybe they'll be collector's items if the worst (or best depending on your view of me) occurs.  https://nastyfans.org/mint
4489  Economy / Speculation / Re: The most stupid dip in Bitcoin's history - and why we can be happy now on: December 09, 2022, 07:47:49 PM
During times like this where there isn't money to be made trading, and mining is a losing venture, it displays how important it is to be diversified not just in your holdings, but also your revenue.  Setting up deals so that you receive some guaranteed BTC regardless of the exchange rate and also deals that pay you BTC in a set USD amount.  This is so that if the price goes up, you are rewarded handsomely by your BTC denominated revenue, but if the price goes down, you are also rewarded by receiving more BTC in your USD denominated deals.  You can accomplish this by offering services for a price in BTC, or goods with their price set in USD.  Things like signature campaigns also usually pay a set BTC amount or a set USD amount, so you can choose which you're missing and diversify that way.  This is the best way to defend against being sad about dips or missing out on price increases.
4490  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why speculate when you can be at peace with Bitcoin on: December 09, 2022, 07:34:42 PM
Many encourage the long -term hold, but in my opinion as long as we have time and can be daily or weekly profit, of course this is a good thing, every morning I check the price of bitcoin then I will immediately take action to sell or buy, after buying then I immediately installed at the selling price by adding profit margin of at least 5%.

Well, my advice to you would be this.  Find the wealthiest people in crypto you know, and ask them how they did it.  Then find the person who bankrupted themselves with crypto and ask them how they did it.  I think we all know how those two conversations would go.  The wealthy person would say they believed in the idea of Bitcoin and purchased to hold while ignoring the daily movements.  The bankrupted person will tell you the story of how they traded altcoins and got their portfolio up to millions of dollars before losing it all when the shitstorm swept away all the shitcoins.  You probably know this already deep inside, but you think you'd the exception to the rule and will beat the 95% of traders who lose all their money.  My advice, listen to the folks who have made it in this industry, and I'm fairly sure none of them will tell you trading is the way.
4491  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 09, 2022, 05:58:25 PM
There’s a good doubleheader on ESPN tonight. First up is everyone’s favorite, the Lakers vs the 76ers. I tend to think the 76ers have the advantage there. Especially if AD is still battling the flu. Then we have the Bucks vs the Mavericks. This should be a good one as well with the leading MVP candidates facing off (Luka and Giannis). A great night of basketball ahead for sure. Enjoy!

The email I have been waiting for has arrived. My Metacycle is set to arrive sometime in the next month. I should be receiving a call in the near future to schedule the exact date. Pretty exciting. I’ve never owned an electric vehicle before so for me this is quite a step forward that I’ve been looking forward to. Now I am crossing my fingers and hoping it gets here in time for Christmas. 4493  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Are Elon Musk & Trump planning a coup in the US? on: December 09, 2022, 04:48:43 AM
Elon Musk and Donald Trump aren’t two people I could ever see working together on anything. Besides both realizing that the liberal party has lost its damned mind. I think they both have different motivations in their lives and I don’t think Elon wants anything to do with politics. Maybe when he’s older he’ll (like Trump) get fed up with the incompetency in government and try to fix some issues.
4494  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mark Mobius Prediction Bitcoin could hit $10k at 2023 on: December 09, 2022, 04:19:15 AM
These people coming out with price predictions at the bottom are basically useless. That prediction would have been a lot more valuable as we were hitting new highs, like when I was saying it… Now is the time to be predicting the next peak, not pretending to have some magic prediction abilities being Mr Obvious. Make no mistake about it, now is the time to be a buyer, not a seller. Resist those trying to part you from your coins.
4495  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 09, 2022, 04:15:29 AM
Close game between the Heat and the Clippers. Bam playing really well with 29 points already with half a quarter left to go. PG13 trying his best to keep the Clippers in the game. Ideally I would have expected Clippers to win but the Heat playing at home seems to have taken the edge.
PG13 is leading the LA Clippers but the Heat are still ahead. Bam is having a great night, he is also leading the Heat in this game. With few minutes left, it's not yet certain who will win as we've witnessed a game yesterday when the Jazz steal a win in a game that suppose to be a win by the Warriors.

The game is over, Clippers were not able to win on the road despite their big effort. Heat defeated them by 5 points only, so they were not able to cover the spread. The final score is 110-115, Bam with 31 points while Butler also has 26 points.

It’s hard for the Clippers to beat good teams with Kawhi not playing. Tonight John Wall had a bit of a tough night, leaving a lot for Paul George to carry. The Clippers have a lot invested into players that aren’t available at their best very often. That makes it tough to win consistently. Hopefully Wall and Leonard can get healthy for the playoffs and are able to contribute more frequently.
4496  Economy / Gambling discussion / [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: December 09, 2022, 04:11:37 AM
ChatGPT is all the rage at the moment. I’ve seen that people are asking it to predict sporting events. Would you leave gambling decisions up to artificial intelligence? Do you see any potential drawbacks for outsourcing your bets to a software program? Has anyone here tried this yet? Do we need someone to put together a thread of ChatGPT predictions to see how accurate they are?  Any other thoughts?
4497  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC, more closer bullish days ahead. on: December 08, 2022, 05:09:24 PM
A majority of the people I know that got into crypto have capitulated from this FTX fiasco. Whether they lost funds there or just didn’t want to deal with the stress of a declining portfolio, they are selling. This to me is a great sign we’re seeing the bottom. I am starting to get so bullish, it pains me that so many are not going to be around for the next jump up, although something tells me they’ll be back in 2025 to buy the top again.
4498  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MTGOX Claim Identity Verification - I am blocked, can't select Repayment Method on: December 08, 2022, 05:06:45 PM
I finally took the time to verify my identity and select a repayment method.  I chose crypto and an early lump sum repayment.  I may still switch it to the other later payout, but we'll see.  I'd hate to think I'm leaving BTC on the table and I have no need for it anytime soon, but I don't like the idea of letting them delay this any further even though it is probably the smart thing to do.  Anyone have a strong opinion either way?

can you share the link where the verification is done for the payment of funds from mt.gox?
I somehow always ignored it because I don't believe that anything positive will happen there, but you are right about that feeling of leaving BTC on the table.
thx.

Mtgox.com is a good place to start. I think it redirects you to claims.mtgox.com but this is me on my mobile assuming that. Following the steps and not getting links from strangers is probably good advice.

Not sure why anyone would ignore the mtgox situation if they had funds there, but to each their own. Something will definitely happen with this, and likely before next summer.
4499  Other / Meta / Re: Posting about metaverse project? on: December 08, 2022, 05:04:11 PM
This is an interesting way to advertise your project while trying to stay within the forum rules for posting in this section. The discussion here really shouldn’t be about the project, and a link to it isn’t really appropriate in my opinion. It should probably be locked. If everyone who had a project to promote made a thread like this in Meta it wouldn’t scale too well. As far as promoting your project, this is a poor first impression of it…
4500  Other / Meta / Re: bitcointalk forum vs OpenAI - ChatGPT on: December 08, 2022, 05:01:13 PM
It is impressive what ChatGPT can do. It’s a glimpse into the world that is quickly approaching. I’m sure a day in the not too distant future will come when internet interactions are majority bots/AI and human beings have to be sought out. Forums like this seem like the easiest casualty for a human majority as I think ChatGPT could already surpass a large % of the users here on post quality. I’m sure advertisers will be running their own AI forum bots to bypass the need for signature campaigns. A whole new flood of issues is about to hit the internet me thinks.
