4482  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Balance on Exchanges Reducing on: October 12, 2020, 05:13:10 PM
If the statistics given is accurate, do you opine that due to fewer Bitcoin users withdrawing their funds through exchanges, Bitcoin is on a bull run? The Bitcoin market reacts in many ways and this info may actually not mean an appreciation in price leading to a bull run for Bitcoin, it could actually mean the opposite, but we'll see the direction the BTC market takes in few months to come, I prolly think the halving of few months ago is a better indicator of a bull run.

That being said, mind you that exchanges aren't the only means of exchanging Bitcoin, it could also be that more people now exchange their Bitcoins via P2p trade and not on exchanges, and hence withdrawals are still happening.
4483  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Belgian investors lost $12M to crypto and forex scams last year by clicking on a on: October 12, 2020, 10:07:19 AM
Users blame Google for not filtering ads, and most of this ads very well 'stocked up' with malware are presented to crypto users which they click and redirects them to be scammed, but mind you that the average Joe on the internet knows that Google search/Chrome for instance is a bad choice for browser/search engine, but they still use it. Users should see this thread: Privacy, ways to protection, to help them choose good browsers and search engines for privacy and security. That being said, ad blockers should also be used by crypto users, these privacy responsibilities are obviously a must for all to protect your device, data and funds from being compromised. I'll quote this to summarize it all:
Stop using Google to find the website of exchanges, services, or wallet.

Stop following random links without checking the URL.

Start using uBlock Origin.

Never type your seed in anywhere.

How many times does this need repeated?
4484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Chinese central bank to airdrop 10 million digital yuan on: October 11, 2020, 07:29:40 PM
I would like to see this digital yuan coin on mainstream crypto exchanges too. If that happens mainstream crypto market and crypto coins will really boom because it will become very easy to buy, sell or exchange crypto for atleast the Chinese people right now.
The digital Yuan or any other CBDC is not a decentralized cryptocurrency, it's centralized and not the same as Bitcoin or other dex coins, imo, cbdc's are not of any benefit to Crypto adoption, and it won't be used on crypto exchanges or like dex crypto's.
if this is officially launched then the US will lose one step from China.
That's why I've said many times before that launching CBDC's looks too much of a move in flaunting political powers by different countries, the U.S. will look to make new progress with this news about the digital Yuan, that's why I'm not interested in CBDC's since they aren't decentralized and are only digital versions of the countries fiat currency.
4485  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to learn on how to distinguish merit looking and a helpful post on: October 10, 2020, 09:08:11 PM
Imo, there's nothing like a 'merit looking' post, it's either a post or thread is helpful/decent enough/Hq/teaches something original etc, or is not, if it does any of that, then it can earn merits, if it doesn't, then it may not. That being said, it's still pretty subjective, what teaches me something original or i consider as hq may not be the same for another user.

There's no need to distinguish anything, if a post is good in your own standard, then you can give merits to it, and if it doesn't cross your standard, then don't merit it and forget about the intent in the mind of the poster, and mind you, there is no way to categorically ascertain the reason why a user made a thread, you can only assume and can be wrong, so no need doing that in the first place.

Can you tell more?  If i reply on the forum to someone they fro sure dont get my email. What is a danger to reply to a private message of a scammer?
There is actually no danger per se to reply a private message of a scammer, I've see situations people reply and play around with the scammers before blocking them, but not starting a conversation is the better choice, some users who are not too familiar with how scammers operate can get allured as the conversation gets deeper, that's why as a rule of thumb, it's better not to reply such scam messages, then block the user from sending you PM's going forward, delete the message and report such user.
4488  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bank of Japan to begin digital currency proof-of-concept in 2021 on: October 10, 2020, 11:01:29 AM
The US has theirs but it's known to be the Libra.
This is not true, the U.S. are working on launching it's own CBDC called the "digital dollar" and not libra. Libra is a coin owned by Facebook.
The question is how it is going to fare with crypto and how it's going to affect us, will it be successful or not?
It's not going to affect us (decentralized crypto users) in anyway. CBDC's are centralized currencies, that will be more or less the same with the countries fiat currency, only that it's going to be digital. Most of the advocacy to launch digital currencies by some countries is only for political reasons, we've seen how the U.S responded to the digital Yuan, with their own digital dollar, it's more of politics/economics for most of this countries and it's not affecting Bitcoin or any other decentralized cryptocurrencies.
4489  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: October 10, 2020, 10:08:31 AM
The game has been so competitive since the beginning.
Of course it has, but I know most of the smaller teams that have put good performances and are up in the table right now wouldn't be able to maintain this standard for too long, we saw what happened with Leicester City last season, after playing so well from the beginning right till the break caused by the pandemic, still fell out of the top four position heading to the curtain been drawn.

Everton are going in that manner this season, and though they have an experienced coach in Carlo Ancelloti, I don't know if they'll be able to get a top four finish, it'll depend on the bigger teams, and I'm sure as games go by, City and Liverpool will pick up their form and take the number 1 and 2 positions on the table, but we may see different teams completing the top four slots at the end of this season.
4490  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto Scams & Our Roles. on: October 10, 2020, 01:32:03 AM
For newbies investing in cryptocurrencies advised to hold if you get your funds downtrend. Do not get emotional to which it could result to selling and lossing of some funds.
Selling some chunk of your asset when there's 'fud', isn't part of the scam the op is talking about in this thread, your ROI may be small or even nothing, but you aren't losing your funds per se, you're actually selling them yourself/willingly, to prolly meet one basic need or the other. Scams are hacks, phishing, malware/ransomware/email attacks etc, were scammers compromise your wallets and takes you funds, without you being aware, or get hold of data from your device and requests a ransom, or situations were users send funds to scammers in typical 'giveaway scams', etc, afaik it's quite different from "selling" during btc plunge.
4491  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Treasuries on: October 09, 2020, 10:45:54 AM
I will work to improve this spreadsheet, trying to monitor the trickle down effect kickstarted by Microstrategy decision.
Square was an obvious follower. Now I am really curious who’s going down the same path.
I presume quite a few corporations are also going to make the same move, it's good for adoption as I'm quite sure other companies will be tracking the pros the decision taken by Microstrategy, square and Grayscale is having on their company before making a decision themselves to follow that path. And with the increase in MST stocks after investing in Bitcoin, it's a good signal for more btc investments by other companies. I'll prefer when Bitcoin is flashed and highlighted in the news for these, than scams that's most times the faults/follies of the victims, who don't take responsibility of their privacy and security.

Well done fillippone

Imo, the opposite looks the case to me as I think the "decay" of source merits is actually a good thing. If you don't spend it, it decays, it kind of encourages MS's, as long as they are active and have enough time to spend here, to try as much as possible to empty their monthly source allocation before it gets "decayed".
4494  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: October 08, 2020, 12:23:58 PM
Liverpool under Klopp has always shown an impressive reaction after such a devastating defeat. Even though the last one was special and historic as Klopp jokingly stated himself Cheesy I hope they are going to end the winning streak of Everton next week.
Next weekends Merseyside derby will be different from the ones we've had for quite a long time now, going into this game Everton truly look like favorites imo, Carlo Ancelloti's men will be looking to extend their 100% record, why Liverpool will need to bounce back after letting in 7 against a team that were so close to relegation last season, I predict either a win for Everton or a draw.
Yupp the rumor has it, Manchester United are in touch with pochettino even since few months ago , ole have to go now before it's too late , saving several points are better
If OGS gets sacked right now and pochettino takes his place as United's manager, this Manchester United team wouldn't still compete for the title this season imo.
4495  Other / Off-topic / Re: [PSA]: FBI gives warning about using WIFI in Hotels on: October 08, 2020, 09:59:41 AM
I will bring my family to a hotel in weekends and then do some work from there and uses their public Wifi.
The hotel or the host of the Wifi may not be scammers per se or have any intention to maliciously steal users data, but you can't be sure of their security practice and if they are really protecting their service from hackers, they could easily be breached and users of their services would be affected. That's why crypto users should always verify before using any service, and since it's not possible to verify how secure a public WiFi is, it's better not to use it.

I choose the option of always taking responsibility of my own security and data, even if your wallet and funds are not in the device connected to a public WiFi, hackers can also get other informations about you, and attack using any of them, for example, email phishing, ransomware or even personal information that can lead to you been tracked and a $5 wrench attack, becomes a possibility after getting your data or compromising your device.
4496  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency Adoption: A Breakthrough? on: October 08, 2020, 07:15:52 AM
Over here in my country our fiat currency is also losing value and things don't look to get better, with possible inflation in the coming months, I don't think there's actually any fiat currency that's not felt the negative impact of this pandemic, including the USD, thing is, it's all on a different scale, but truth still remains that devaluation/inflation is happening and prices of commodities are gradually climbing higher that before, if the government will be able to stabilize things and shift the economy back on track is still to be seen.

Cryptocurrency adoption is a good thing, but definitely not a total panacea to this current economic situation, even the governments are coming up with their own centralized digital fiat, I'm talking about CBDC's, and even if they are no different from fiat currencies, and nothing like decentralized crypto, they are still going on with it for political reasons and also to weigh the effects it could have in boosting up their economy & fiat value. This year is good time for Bitcoin and crypto adoption for many individuals and corporations as we've seen with firms like 'MicroStrategy' and few others already, "Fiat is not going away", but it looks like it'll continue to lose more value going forward, and assets that can hedge the value of funds can be used to counter that.
4497  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BEWARE OF THESE SCAMS!! on: October 07, 2020, 05:01:47 PM
It's a good list, but mind you that many of the investors interested in this DeFi hype aren't doing any painstaking research to find the scam projects, most of the DeFi tokens are pump, dump or fake coins, imo, most of this investors are already aware of the risks in DeFi, but atm, it's all about the hype and pumped ROI that they can get from it, I don't even think there's a need to warn investors about DeFi anymore, users who are investing in it feel they can handle the risk, not that they are unaware of it.
Got some earning on these and loses too but of course its risky.
Imo, the people who could lose out the most in this DeFi hype are people who consider holding DeFi tokens for the long run, DeFi investors should always take out their ROI when they get them, with all the scams going on, DeFi doesn't look set to last too long.
4498  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: October 07, 2020, 04:39:29 PM
It seems that after Ferguson left, they lost their vision and want to achieve everything quickly, buying players instead of creating them through work and training.
It's not just Manchester United spending money this days, every big club has to spend money, (paying little attention to their academy) to be able to compete with the other teams around them, the problem in United's case is I believe they are spending money on the wrong players (like new signing, Edinson Cavani imo), who aren't performing to the standard man u fans expects of them. Mind you that during Fregies time, there were less big money transfers as there are now, and the players Ferguson signed then, always performed very well.

The league is only just starting, with four games played, but it already looks like it's impossible for Manchester United to win the EPL this season, that's how bad they look to me. Some years back, how dare your write off united from competing for the Epl title.
4499  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple Chairman threatens to leave US over crypto regulation on: October 07, 2020, 12:22:18 PM
I don't know if Ripple's executives actually mean it or if they are somewhat threatening to leave the U.S. to see if that will push their cause for lesser regulations on cryptocurrencies by the U.S. government and the SEC. That being said, it's difficult for a crypto company to function properly in hostile and crypto unfriendly environments, and if the company will grow better and faster in another country, then I think they should move over there.

Just like in the article, the thing is if the U.S. are actually aware that this regulations are going to discourage crypto and even blockchain companies from setting up and functioning in the United States, and even if the U.S have the best economy in the world, they'll rue it in the long run if they are far behind other countries in crypto adoption and blockchain usage because of some of this unnecessary regulations.
4500  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What You Think About UNI coin Is It good to Hold It For Longterm perspective on: October 07, 2020, 12:05:09 PM
Imo, users who traded on uniswap before September and received the free 400 UNI tokens should sell the coins and take the returns they can get now, UNI tokens, just like quite a lot of altcoin tokens are only good for short term, if you are looking for good crypto to hold, you can exchange your free UNI tokens for either Bitcoin or ethereum and hodl it. Eth network is looking forward to eth 2.0, while Bitcoin got halved few months ago, which are green signs of a spike in both of this coins, and are very much better options than holding UNI tokens.
