Money flowing back into alts post BTG...

And in the ninth week, the candle turned GREEN
cAPSLOCK must be out of BTC   Grin

Actually I bought just a little more.

9 more red candles?

LOL.  I have no idea if I am brave, a fool, or a brave fool.

Better to cut yourself on a falling knife than buy at the top. Which is what most people seem to do.

Time will tell if the cuts are superficial or deadly.

Amidst the fog of war that is currently all crypto markets but especially alts someone bought ~ 800k USD worth of XMR @ market.

Can you elaborate a little bit on that. How could one interpret that?

Well its an educated guess, but if you look at the time and volume there was a sudden spike of ~10000 XMR driving the price temporarily up from 1460 to 1515 before it drifted back into its range.

Upon deeper inspection I probably overestimated the purchase size.  More likely ~8-9k in buys which may be more around $700k at current values...

Wow, maybe it's just me (and I'm not a "trader" at all, just a simple hodler so don't take it as any real advice here) but this latest BTC run just seems SO much "too much too soon too fast" ... doesn't it?

A little birdie told me this'll peak out at around $6800-ish and then after the manic stooopid "free coinz it's forkin' Yo!" nonsense subsides, and the reality hangover sets in, we'll see yet another "crash" all the way back "down" to "only" about $4800 or so.

A "crash" to where it's still 5x on the starting point of the year, in other words. LOL.

As a hodler, I'll take that, just fine... thank you very much.

Anyway maybe worth a little side-play here to increase XMR stack a bit. Just feels SO much MORE obvious this time around, for some reason?? Hmmm...

Ive been catching falling XMR knives all the way down.  I've gotten pretty bloody. :/  I am to the point now that I actually feel TOO heavy XMR and too light BTC.

XMR is cheap against BTC now though.  I am just exhausted by all the action currently.

So anyone wanna bet next week it'll be a fresh new China ban, or some Jamie Dimon bullshit, or some other crap?

You know they just can't let this run for long without something something FUD something.

This has got to be the biggest bubble on either side of a thousand years. Something will give eventually. But someone dumped 28,000 coins, like what, yesterday? I'm cautiously optimistic.

I like your style.  And bubbles happen during the birth of new markets.  See the 90s.  An opera starring GOOG, AMZN, APPL, MSFT with a supporting cast of hundreds, among a field of thousands of dead and defeated.  Quite dramatic.

That stuff is just the overture to this stuff...

We live in interesting times and happen to be in the best possible seats.

Who are the stars?

Who dies before the fat lady sings.

They will talk about this as long as men live.

Well, really it seems that you were not making any point - because no one really should believe that anyone, such as me, is offended from some goofball comments on the interwebs.   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Regarding my "new exchanges", I attempted to register and get verified on both Kraken and Bittrex, and Kraken verified me quickly and Bittrex has gotten hung up on some algorithm in regards to my verification documents and their support is not responding to my ticket in which i request assistance.

So, for me, it is good, for now, to have a place to send some of my Bitfinex value (that is Kraken), and I might lighten up my exchange load a bit too.  Currently I have  about 30% of my total value on various exchanges.. including the about 8% of my value that is currently on Bitfinex (all dollars have been converted), and has to be moved before November 9.

No. And this is the last exchange I choose to have with you.  First I tried to be helpful.  Then cordially offered an apology which you poo-pood above.

I made several good points in help to you.

1.  Ledger already has an ETC wallet.
2.  Ledger is developing a Monero wallet.
3.  Leaving Crypto on exchanges is dangerous.

Maybe its a matter of perspective.  Risking 30% of my crypto holdings is unacceptable to me.

Your snarky comments are tiresome.

Save your time with any response - as you have made my very short ignore list.

Hi Guys, how come Monero coin, dips further and further? When you look at the graph, its trend is going down since the last pump of August 28? It has been 50 days and it still going down?

You think 8 red weekly candles isn't normal?  Where have you been?  Cheesy Tongue   Monero always drops on good news, and there is a lot of good news lately, that's all.

Am I right?  I do believe 8 red weekly candles is a record.

YOU!  YOU did this!  You bought again, didn't you?!

I have done NOTHING but buy exactly once a week for 8 weeks!  What does this signify?!??

What was your point?  To lecture?  If I have a ledger nano s and a trezor, then seems like I would have a sufficient quantity of coins there, too, no?  Maybe I have some coins and other value on exchanges for trading?  How is a guy going to trade coins if he does not put some coins (and/or value) on exchanges...   You have no idea regarding my exposure and you are assuming and giving unsolicited advice.. was that your point?

If your point was to share information about possible places to keep coins, then that was helpful.. but going on an unsolicited lecture still seems quite presumptuous to me and you do seem to be assuming facts that are not in evidence.  no?   Tongue

I am sorry to have offended you.  I wish you luck with your new exchanges.

If there is any "best founder ever" then it's undoubtedly the bitcoin founder. All the kids that popped up after him are just substanceless derivatives.

I've always thought there is a strong possibility the anonymous cryptonote author "Nicholas van Saberhagen" actually IS "Satoshi Nakamoto"

N.S. / S.N. for one thing, as an obvious intentional clue.

Second, Satoshi disappeared right around the time CN started.  And when he left, he said he was leaving to "pursue other things". It's not a huge stretch to consider that a redesign/reboot of his best idea would be what that was.

Very doubtful someone like him would just totally turn his back on what he'd already accomplished. It'd be very natural to want to start with a clean slate and design a "bitcoin 2.0" from the ground-up with no baggage of the 1.0 concept design.

Finally, the #1 and maybe ONLY, biggest obvious FLAW, in bitcoin's design intending to be "money" is that it isn't fully fungible.  Cryptonote (and thus, Monero) builds on the basic bitcoin design ideas to SOLVE that, and make the world's first crypto-currency that IS really "MONEY".

Satoshi never took any credit for cryptonote, of course, so this is all just wild speculation, and for more IF Hal Finney was Satoshi (or part of the team) and was diagnosed with his terminal illness at that time, he certainly would've been "thankful for today" when he started up Bytecoin (XMR precursor) even if maybe he erred a little bit on trying to structure it with the premine (to provide funds for his family after he was gone, maybe... something that Satoshi or the Satoshi Team did not do when they started up the BTC genesis block, of course.  Hal could be forgiven for that lapse in judgement at the time, and under the circumstances... I'd think.  Doesn't detract from his legacy or reputation IMHO at all...)

I have considered this as well.

Where it looks like it breaks down to me is the code.  Does not look like the same person.
4494  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 18, 2017, 05:29:03 AM

I have both the ledger nano s and the trezor and neither of those wallets support either ETC or Monero.

The Nano S does support ETC. https://www.reddit.com/r/ledgerwallet/comments/6cw1ig/ledger_wallet_etc/

The Ledger Nano S has a Monero wallet currently under development. https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/75w4s4/ledger_hardware_wallet_monero_integration_some/

YOU NEED TO STOP STORING CRYPTO ON EXCHANGES.

How can someone who is as enthusiastic about cryptocurrencies not understand that one of the fundamentally key beauties to cryptocurrency is the ability to take responsibility for managing your own wealth without significant exposure to counter parties?

Ah well... you a thirsty horse, and you are standing on the banks of the Nile...
4495  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 17, 2017, 09:57:20 PM
To get on topic a moment... this price action is interesting to me.

We have

BTC relatively flat
BCC rallying strongly against BTC
Alts seem to be rallying against BTC
But the crummier alts are doing well while the better projects languish.  (I put XMR in this camp)
... There there's ripple...

As to XMR.  I feel like there are some strong developments and rumors out there... Is this sell the rumor and buy the news?

Water damage doesn't sound too bad, have you attempted to recover some data?

 Cheesy

I Lald
If you meant the use the past tense of lol, I think it's lodl.

It was a star trek joke. Right off the cuff too. There has to be someone here who can appreciate. I thought you were my people.

One of the saddest of all the episodes IMHO...

I am a speculator.  I do use Monero to buy things.  But I also buy it to hold it because I think it has the potential to be worth much more in the future.  Unfortunately for me I have lost almost all my XMR holdings.  I know it's popular to talk about boating accidents... but I just keep mine on USB keys, and then I leave them in pants pockets and wash them and then dry them (I wonder which part of that does the true destroying?) so the private keys are gone and my dozens of XMR are lost.

But I keep trying!

To continue my recent trend of "talking my book"...  I am taking one LAST (seriously... cut me off after this one, I can't make it home if I have another) dip into my precious BTC pile to supplement my XMR holdings.  I have entered one last time (I SWEAR IT THIS TIME I REALLY DO) @ .0168 - .017.

Wish me luck!  Let's see if can not lose these too.

You know one of the things I bought with my monero is a Cryptosteel. Wink  Another was a Ledger Nano S.

That was uncharacteristically nice of you!  But no.  There is no hope for recovering my losses.

I do seem to have "sunk" the price with my entry...  all is right in the world at least.  Maybe one more purchase!  Just a little one. (I CAN QUIT ANYTIME I WANT TO!)

Starting to feel shity exchanges are rather safe after all the boating accidents and machine washing Moneros:) I had a paper wallet gone with wind, and a few days ago i found it when i was packing to move homes once again:) so i actually have a few BTC that are not balls deep in alts. might throw it monero way.

Yes.  I think it is safe to say Monero are the most LOST cryptocurrency of them all.  By far.

People buy them, and then they are gone... leaving no trace.

Eventually the reality of what this actually means will sink in for MANY MANY MANY more people...

Big PROPS to "Cyrus" who responded very quickly and got my account reset for me tonight.

I was expecting to wait a week and/or have to maybe accept my account was lost... but he came thru with flying colors.

Excellent work... thanks.

And thanks to y'all for the support here too.

Welcome back!  Who knows... maybe you are up for a change... but if not... here ya go. Wink

Oh... and I don't know what eidoo is... but fuck it, pardon my vulgarity.  I will have nothing to do with it whatever it is.  (I am assuming the hacker was being paid to shill it)
