4481  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: SEC Charges Film Producer, Rapper, and Others for Participation in 2 Fraudulent on: September 13, 2020, 11:46:19 AM
The question is why SEC took so long to file charges against these famous personalities?

I'm guessing is that amount of money involved, and now that we are in the defi hype, I wouldn't be surprised to find a new wave of personalities endorsing similar to what ICO did in 2017, getting help from friends. But the end result will be the same, scamming unsuspecting victims.

$2.2 million and a measly $75k civil monetary penalty? Doesn't sound right.
4482  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crypto in Q3-Q4 2020. Hodl or use for purchases? on: September 13, 2020, 11:00:32 AM
Hey everyone!

The price of crypto has been pretty volatile over the last few weeks and BTC has once again sunk below 11k. This made me curious about what the community does or plans on doing with its crypto assets today and in the nearest future. Do you hodl and hope for the price to skyrocket, or perhaps spend some of your coins on various goods and services, and if you do - what do you purchase? Is it even worth spending your coins on anything you can get using a credit card?

Personally, I would rather hold my bitcoin now, no way that I'm going to use it because I'm a firm believer that the price will eventually pick up, maybe not this year, but perhaps a new all time high can be reach in 2021-.

Maybe there are members here that do used their crypto to buy stuff or even pay some bills, but not me. I'll stick to the plan of accumulation (this is a good time) and then sell some when we hit new all time high. What if it didn't hit all time high as predicted? Then I won't sell, simply as that.
4483  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: September 13, 2020, 10:32:58 AM
^ Yes, it is expected, and actually we have been calling it for years now. We need fresh blood to pump up the tennis scene and stay away from the big 3. However, we want them healthy playing their best and see how the young generations are going to react to them.

If not for the pandemic, I'm sure it could either be Nadal or Djokovic in the finals, not downplaying Thiem, Zverev and Medvedev and others. But the pandemic has benefited them someway. So I do hope that the future of tennis will rest on the hands of this 3 and other rank players.
4484  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Spamming 547 satoshis. But why? on: September 13, 2020, 09:56:00 AM
As we can see is the cheap way to spread a message on the network, and this will become more common in the future, since the network is public information then why isn't a good idea to use it to promote a business?

I'm against spam but this is a smart way to do it, is like investing in google adds but this campaign will last for ever Wink

I disagree though, it's not that smart if you are going to advertise in lieu of spamming the bitcoin network unless you want to hit two birds with one stone here and since I'm guessing this comes from BSV, it's pretty obvious what their true intentions are.

We can see that someone says that it is complicated and he really don't know what is this about. They better just spent their money like google ads you said or press release or something.

4486  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Peter Schiff son buys more bitcoin against his advise on: September 08, 2020, 08:25:44 PM
The funny thing is that even Peter Shciff's follower voted on his son,  Grin.

Just shows how different where the time is, Peter is an old traditional fart, compare to his son, who is open minded has his own thinking as far as investment goes. Also doesn't surprise me if Peter is really into bitcoin, with all the shilling he is doing right now with BTC.
4487  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't get tricked by hidden spam on this forum on: September 08, 2020, 07:49:42 AM
I would just like to bump this thread because it seems that those shillers has evolved as well.

1. They will put like a wall of text to look like it was well crafted posts and carefully thought of
2. Then they discreetly insert what they are shilling for, i.e trading exchange.

This is just one example seen recently: The 3 Most Trusted Crypto Trading Platforms in 2020.
4488  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bearish! on: September 07, 2020, 11:05:40 PM
Is btc at its lowest right now or it will still fall near to $9k?
Whales are locking heavily on $9k. What are ur views on it?

No one has the crystal ball to predict if we should fall near $9k or go up again to $12k. Whales? they have been in the market for so long and I doubt that they can control or locked in heavily on $9k. The market is 24x7, so how would they manage the so called manipulations? They can change the course of the price to favour them, but it will be just on the short term.

There are a lot of smart investors today, more than the rally in 2017, so I have heavy doubts that they can play the market again whatever they wait. And we are not in a bearish trend anymore, the market just had a correction specially after having a huge resistance in the $12k range.
4489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Atlant - An overly undervalued token on: September 07, 2020, 10:46:00 PM
This is an old project if I'm not mistaken and a lo of hype around it when first released. However, just like the rest any of hype project, it's growth is not sustainable. And looking at ATL stats on https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/atlant/, -93%.

So nothing has change ever since, although is has low marketcap, the trading volume speak for itself. Yesterday's volume is $151.88, very very low. And if ever the price goes on a spike, it's just pure pump-and-dump, in my opinion. Unless they have something new or some updates on the project, I would say that it looks like dead to me, just to be honest with you guys.
4490  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Atomic wallet's phishing website is being promoting in google's ads. on: September 07, 2020, 10:13:11 PM
Someone already posted it in the Scam Accusations board, [Scam]: Fake Atomic wallet thru Google Ads.
4491  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Scam]: Fake Atomic wallet thru Google Ads on: September 07, 2020, 03:31:12 PM
Also reported to Google as well, so let's hope that it will be taken down.
Hey there. Nice catch! Anyways, any reference you could point out in which if I saw some scam sites/links? Whether it's advertised in Google or not, what to do? As you said, you already reported it. Like what are the steps and needed information to make it a successful one? I'm going to try it if I found some malicious websites possible for scamming and report it here as well.

I don't think there's no secret though, earlier I tried to used the term "Exodus Wallet", and I saw one phishing site, similar to what the OP find. Unfortunately, I didn't archived it or take a screenshot.

Code:
https://exodus.cm/
https://exodus.sg/

@aioc - I agree with you, but these criminals are really good at hiding their intentions when they avail of this so called Google Ads, they can camouflage and cloak it during application, that's why Google can't detect it right away. So we need to be very vigilant and report it to them if we find phishing sites.
4492  Economy / Goods / Re: AUTHENTIC REAL Nike Adapt BB 2.0 "Tie-Dye" Basketball Shoes SHIPPED FROM NIKE on: September 07, 2020, 03:00:45 PM
Maybe a scam / stolen goods sale after all.

I think that's the correct sentence Jimako... Wink

And it doesn't make sense though, official Nike stores all over the world are doing sales 10% to as high as 50% off. So why would I try someone here, specially a newbies, plus the shipping fees are going to be very high.

So thanks but no thanks, everyone shouldn't be caught by this so called sales or price-off. So can get better deal in your local Nike stores.
4493  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: September 06, 2020, 07:35:03 PM

De Minaur vs Khachanov is going on  Minaur won first set very easily and I was expecting this is going to be good for him but suddenly in second set he lost his touch and now Khachanov is leading by 5 - 0 have no idea what wrong happen with him badly down hopefully fight back.
After down in the second and third sets, De Minaur finally won in the fourth set and also the fifth set.

Good comeback from Alex, he will now be facing Pospisil next, who upset Bautista Agut.

Good to see Serena defated Sloane Stephens and advance to the fourth round, at his age now She still plays well, She will be a formidable opponent for the favorites of other champions like N. Osaka.

Stephens Sloane is touted to be the 'heir' apparent to Serena when she won this tournament in 2017. But it seems Stephens has lost her touch. Yes, good to see Serena still chasing another US Open even at her age.

There's another controversies, some players are getting quarantine specially those who are in contact with Paire. Some of those players are still in the hunt for a title, singles/doubles, but organiser excluded them in fear of a spread so those players really felt bad about it.
4494  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any Hope for Libra? on: September 06, 2020, 01:41:54 PM
It's a done deal for Mark's pet project, government around the world are totally against it, not because they are against crypto, but they don't want to give Mark and Facebook too much power. So the idea was scraped for now and if ever they are going to come back, they need to reinvent themselves.

However, I doubt that nations specially in EU will pre-approved it, I mean even US is afraid of it, so it's a failed project itself and there's no hope that Libra will comeback anytime soon. This is the perfect time actually because people are into crypto as we are in a bull run, sadly they can't take a piece of the big pie right now.
4495  Economy / Economics / Re: Our chance to reset on: September 06, 2020, 01:12:04 PM
I think in every worst situation, humans has this ability to find a way to turn it into positive, just like the WW2. Millions lost their lives, directly or indirectly and we should say that it was also a reset. But still the horrors are feel even after more than half a century now.

So with this pandemic, many died as well, lost our jobs, our businesses and everything, so we really couldn't say it's a blessing, perhaps it let families closer to together because of the lockdown. But if you don't have money to bring food in the table, then there's nothing positive about it. And now with the looming crisis in the horizon, it's either we adopt in order to survived.
4496  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Early members, give us an insight on: September 06, 2020, 12:15:42 PM
Hi there

I would like to ask the people who joined this community in its first years. What tip you could give new members who just got into crypto

Better to look around and explore this community first, read and take down notes. There will be a lot of information overload, but that's good though, at least you will learn how to filter all this information to your advantage.

Others have mentioned a lot already, but it will be a continuous journey, specially if you chooses to become a full time trader. So it might take years for you to learn but there are no shortcuts, you have to work really hard to reach your goals.
4497  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Card counting in black jack on: September 05, 2020, 11:11:15 PM
There are many articles on this topic, just read about the evolution of blackjack. All changes in the rules for shuffling the deck and the number of decks occurred precisely because of the people who learned how to count cards.

Yes, but having more deck of cards in a shoe as a way to counter these card counters means less revenue for casinos as it will result in less hands.

I don't know any gamblers who are a card counter, perhaps this is just a niche and only a handful remains in this business because casinos has also evolved on how to catch them. Not illegal per se, but you can land in jail, specially if you have been forewarned already and then you return to play, that is trespassing as casino is a privacy property per law.
4498  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: September 05, 2020, 01:15:36 PM
So far a lot of the top seeds in the Men's draw are doing well, I was happy to see Alex de Minaur win in straight sets as I am a big fan of his. Stefanos Tsitsipas is coming up soon, I'll be watching him closely as I did bet on him to win the US Open @10 odds as Djokovic was too short for my liking even though he will be tough to beat.

Sorry mate, Stefanos Tsitsipas just lost today. But I would tend to agree that the Djokovic odds is not worth it. However, the following could be a good and attractive odds to bet in sportbet.io

(a) Medvedev @ 6.42
(b) Thiem @8.79
(c) Zverev @14.56

De Minaur vs Khachanov will be interesting, I think Khachanov will have this one.
Shapolalov vs Goffin is another good match to wait for, and so is Thiem vs Cilic.
4499  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US file a lawsuit to recover funds from a hack by North Korea on: September 05, 2020, 12:16:13 PM
@slaman29. Also, if the hackers used Monero, the department of justice might not report it because there would certainly be nothing to report. It would be a free advertisment for Monero if they include it hehehehe.

And Monero is not viable for hackers or criminals though, as some top exchanges are delisting it as far as I know since 2018 because of government pressures. So criminals still will love to used bitcoin, mix it up and think that they are not going to get caught by blockchain analysis.

Monero are just being used as second tier coins for criminals, like crypto jacking or crypto mining.
4500  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Swiss Canton Zug to Accept Taxes in Bitcoin, Ether From Next Year on: September 05, 2020, 11:50:01 AM
Well, at the very least this is a sort of a statement that goes like "Bitcoin is not just a criminal or a pedophile's money but one which is legally accepted." This is a nice way of acknowledging Bitcoin, of recognizing its viability.

At least for those who really understand what bitcoin is, specially liberal nations such as Switzerland, this is really recognition as what crypto can be, without the negativity surrounding it.

However, I would imagine that paying taxes in BTC or ETH would be highly like trading's 'buy low sell high.' I'm inclined to think that tax paying in BTC and ETH would be like 'pay in crypto when high and avoid when low.'

If given the options, then it is better to pay with fiat I guess, and just preserved your bitcoin or ethereum for the long haul. But then again, others could argue that crypto is another form of money, hence they can use it regardless if the price is high or low.
