It's a week after you signed up.
4502  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: November 11, 2015, 07:01:55 PM
No, the number/accuracy of the posts you have reported.
4503  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: November 11, 2015, 11:41:19 AM
It would be too much work for staff and mods generally don't get involved with scam accusations and is why it was removed. It would be just too much fuss and people would be pestering mods to tag the hundreds of accounts that try scam here.

Can't it be configured manually in such a way that an user with a negative trust of 2 gets that "5-cross tag" forever after 14 days, if the accuser doesn't change his mind (obviously he won't) but if he removes his remark (rare case) for that user within or after 14 days, the "5-cross tag" also gets removed automatically after 30 minutes?

Why do we need a specific scammer tag when the trade with extreme caution is usually enough and works pretty good at the moment?

And what makes you think staff couldn't be manipulated the same way?

FYI, "staff" members are not just selected merely by one's activity count right? If not, then staffs are to be trusted. Wink

Staff are selected by how good their reporting is, doesn't mean to say we can be totally trusted. People should do their due diligence with any user here regardless of rank. A staff member might not rip you off for a bitcoin or two but might for 100. Some staff may be open to bribes for certain things as well.
4504  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: November 11, 2015, 10:16:16 AM
It would be better to add this tag for scammers since default trust can be manipulated by some green trust members ! Huh

Quote
SCAMMER: Manually applied by administration, regardless of post count and gets 5 red Xs under his name.

4505  Other / Off-topic / Re: How much does a senior member account sell for? on: November 11, 2015, 06:29:15 AM
One time some guy want sell me Senior Member account for 0.05 !!! but he talk something that there is "potential activity" Sr. Member.. I thought that was suspicious cheap and gave up.

Potential activity accounts do go for much less because you often need to make a lot of posts to collect the full activity. For instance you could have an account with 60 posts/activity but a potential activity of 240 so you would need to get your post count up to 240 to get all the banked activity which can be a bit of an effort.

so verdict of price

This is probably the most accurate estimation:

Now I see them go for as little as 0.15 but lets say between 0.15 and 0.25.

If you want an account just check in Digital Goods or make a thread there wanting to buy one and see what offers you get.
4506  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Time to raise rates again on: November 11, 2015, 06:15:48 AM
They should peg the values to fiat if they're worried about fluctuations otherwise they're just going to be going backwards and forwards. Most won't raise the rates if the rice plummets to a new low either so it'd be good to know what you're actually getting
4507  Other / Meta / Re: Activity Question on: November 10, 2015, 06:01:40 PM
You didn't get my point...

If we only get 14 of activity each 14 days, how the fuc* the other guy have 20 of activity with only 6 days since his sign up?

The periods are fixed and do not start when you sign up. The new activity period was today so if you signed up yesterday and made a post then posted again today you would have 28 potential activity.
4508  Other / Meta / Re: Public list of yobit spammers(this one's gonna be long boys) on: November 10, 2015, 03:38:26 PM
Local mods can be consulted in that case and I sometimes send lists to them to check for clarification if I'm unsure, though if they're all short sentences it's not difficult to see something is up.
4509  Other / Meta / Re: Public report of secondstrade spammers on: November 10, 2015, 03:30:32 PM
-snip-
The mass banning may serve as a reminder for others to not spam, be it any thread.

I get why you made the threads and I applaud the energy you put into this. The last ban wave did nothing to remove spam from the forum though. See the BadBear quote, punishment is not working. Punishment never works, it will only lead to better hidden misbehaviour.

I would disagree about punishments not working if they're dished out consistently (though forcing/putting pressure on campaigns to not pay for these posts in the first place would help the most). Punishments do usually work and I think most will change their ways after a ban but you can't just issue one set of bans then nothing for months again (I think the last time BadBear started to crack down on spammers with mass bans was before I was even a mod and that was a while ago). When the last wave of mass bannings went out I did notice a decrease in spam, but over time it slowly increased back to normal and now it's the worse it has ever been. If people are made aware or fear that they're no longer going to be able to get away with shitposting then 9/10 they will either improve or stop it as it's just not worth it for them. We also didn't have campaigns like yobit and secondstrade back then and I don't think any campaigns were using bots to count/pay out either. I think cracking down with lots of bans for the worst types of users will hopefully send a message out but if nothing does improve then I will hold my hands up and admit it failed, but it's something we should at least try and we've got nothing to lose really. I still think pressure needs to be put on the problem campaigns and bans should be issued to them too. If they don't respond to them then some way to block their signatures entirely or manually remove them from users would put a stop to that. It's a shame that a couple of campaigns aren't doing their job because I've always said campaigns could actually improve the quality of posts here but only if signature managers do what they're supposed to and not allow poor posters on to their campaign in the first place and certainly don't pay them if they start crapping all over the place. If every campaign did this then spammers would have no where to go and unless they get up their post quality considerably their accounts would essentially be worthless.

It might be time to get rid of the cookie jar entirely instead of smacking on the hands of the greedy.

To continue your cookie analogy, if you have some guards looking out for people stealing from the cookie jar and quickly dishing out appropriate punishments for those that get caught doing so most people wont be stupid enough to continue and will usually stop, though of course there will always be a few sneaky users who disregard the fear of punishment and try anything they can to get around the cookie-police and continue their thievery/behavior. Those who do repeatedly try steal though will get a greater punishment ie permaban so it's probably not worth losing your account over a few satoshis.

At the end of the day it's up to the users if they want to compile lists here and we're not going to stop them. I'm usually not a fan of witch-hunts either and Staff probably aren't going to post lists publicly but the spam situation has got way out of control and is at breaking point really and sometimes it takes naming and shaming for people to actually pay attention. And there's nothing wrong with making the occasional post in games and rounds or in the what did you drink today thread but when your entire post history is in there or are all like this (myeyes.jpg) it's a problem. I think the biggest issue here is the campaigns and if they didn't pay for posts in games and rounds and off topic or even just actually checked users posts to make sure they all weren't like that then people wouldn't bother making them.

Wow, best formatting 2015. Still this is harmless spam its not destorying a discussion. Its shit in the toilet. I also agree that campaigns and their managers should not pay someone for this as its the easiest and most effective way to remove the cookie jar. How to get them into the boat though. I would think it is also in their interest to filter these users.

Spam is still spam in my eyes regardless of where it is. Just because off-topic might be seen as a toilet to you doesn't mean people should be allowed a free pass to piss all over the seat and floor and smear shit all over the cubicle walls. People also don't need to make sloppy, one word answers in there. I have made several posts - and used to post almost daily - in the what song are you listening to thread but I never just posted the artist/song name. I linked to a youtube video and wrote a sentence or two on why I liked it or what bands they sound similar to if someone else wanted to check it out. People just get lazy and it gets worse when they realise they can get away with it whilst getting paid and that's why they need a slap on the wrist.

...or are all like this (myeyes.jpg) it's a problem. ...

A guy posting like that deserve a ban but what I don't understand is why staff don't remove their first spammy posts?

Sometimes we do remove their posts (though it is time consuming to remove them one-by-one unless we nuke them) and I have removed a few of his but at the same time if I delete all his crappy ones and leave the good ones it could look like he's a good poster and nothing's wrong when we request a ban. He's banned anyway now so it's moot.
4510  Economy / Services / Re: Up to 0.035 BTC weekly for YOUR SIGNATURE *New rules on: November 10, 2015, 02:32:38 PM
Hi, Bitcoin Mixer!
Now my rank is:  Sr. Member
Please update information about me.

Thank's.

Roll Eyes Update what information? Everyone gets paid the same regardless of rank. The only thing you need to do is update your signature but I don't even think that is required.
4511  Other / Meta / Re: Public report of secondstrade spammers on: November 10, 2015, 02:27:56 PM
Just thinking out loud, feel free to ignore this.

Not that I like spam very much, but can we take a second and think about this witch hunt?

A post in games and rounds can hardly be constructive, same goes for many threads in off topic. Are those actually a problem though? Who visits the "what did you drink today?" thread and expects a discussion? Who visists a giveaway thread and is offened by people posting what is needed to claim the reward instead of long paragraphs of thought out ideas? We dont want spam where its annoying and distracting, where it hinders discussions, where it might even be dangerous (e.g. bullshit advice in tech support). Yes, it is sad if a thread that had potential dumbs down to mere examples, lists or opinions without substance, so shallow no one can reply. If the posts are not removed though, is the ban a solution?

I dont know the answers, but I hope you BadBear (and anyone else currently handing out bans) think about this as well. I have never seen you give out a ban towards a spammer that was undeserved or if it happened I dont remember it.

4512  Other / Meta / Re: Public list of yobit spammers(this one's gonna be long boys) on: November 10, 2015, 02:05:29 PM
Isn't this something that should be up to the senior board member and moderators?  What is the point of this, just to cause trouble?

It normally does and is going on in the staff section but people are free to post their opinion here. You can make a thread titled 'bitcointalk trouble makers' and list everyone has posted in here if you want.

Seriously?  Personally I see this just as you guys trying to make yourselves feel important.  On our boards, we have a staff that takes cares of these things.  If you guys tried something like this on one of those boards, we would ban you guys quicker than anything.  I am officially ignoring this thread, so say what you want.

Staff are taking care of things but if users want to report what they think are spammers to help out then they can do (whether that makes them feel important or not). Your forum doesn't sound thta great though if you ban members just for posting something you don't like. That's not how this forum works and that's a good thing in my opinion.
4513  Other / Meta / Re: Public report of yobit spammers(this one's gonna be long boys) on: November 10, 2015, 10:26:22 AM
Well I'm glad to hear that and hope many others take this attitude as opposed to just complaining or asking why they were banned. Nobody wants to issue bans but it's likely the only way some people will learn. Hopefully it will have a positive effect.
4514  Other / Off-topic / Re: Rumblr: The Brawling App on: November 10, 2015, 09:42:46 AM
Ridiculous. Would this even be legal?

Oh yeah bro, you wanna meet me on grindr rumblr bro so we can get hot and sweaty in real life bro?
4515  Other / Meta / Re: ACTIVITY AND Post RELATION Issue! [HELP] on: November 10, 2015, 09:22:59 AM
No. You can only get 14 activity every fortnightly period irrespective of how many posts you make. New period starts later today (around midday gmt time I believe).
4516  Other / Meta / Re: Public report of yobit spammers(this one's gonna be long boys) on: November 10, 2015, 09:20:40 AM
Users are constantly being banned for spam (with or without signatures) though we have been a little lax about it recently and it has built up to crazy levels due to a couple of badly run campaigns but some people are trying to get on top of it and these mass bannings are needed and long-overdue as people have got away with it for far too long. It's at breaking point really and if these spammers or spam campaigns don't get the message then I can't really see a future for them which would be a shame to let the few who are being lazy / shouting the loudest ruin it for everybody else. Hopefully people realise the value their accounts have and would rather change their ways and up their game rather than have their accounts permanently banned and ruin what is by far the easiest way to earn bitcoins.
4517  Other / Meta / Re: Who deleted this, and why? on: November 10, 2015, 09:09:35 AM
It was probably just done in error. Mistakes happen occasionally as nobody is perfect though as you're a newbie I sometimes feel patrollers might rush in to handle a report too quickly and not bother checking it properly, though I can easily see how this might have been mistaken as spam as there's a lot of mmm shills spamming links to the ponzi. Feel free to post it again.
4518  Other / Meta / Re: New gambling section? on: November 10, 2015, 09:00:13 AM
I wouldn't be opposed to it. A lot of the discussion in there isn't even really Bitcoin related (offering soccer tips or just general sport discussion etc).
4519  Other / Meta / Re: Checking reported posts on: November 10, 2015, 08:56:18 AM
Maybe on the new forum it would be a good idea that once you report a post you can no longer report it again or the link changes to 'you have already reported this post'. I think users being able to see a que of their reported posts and whether they were marked good or bad would be beneficial. At least people can see which stuff shouldn't be reported then.
4520  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Asus laptop $1200 on: November 09, 2015, 08:13:18 PM
Why don't you send the laptop to your house?
Because it may be ordered in the illegal way ??
By this the buyer will be involved in many troubles in future.
I would offer 2BTC shipped in europe, but only from you not forwarding services.
Why illegal?! Payment Method Gift Card

The gift cards can still be purchased with stolen credit cards. That's usually what happens.
