4501  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Indian police say rats ate 600kg of cannabis from station storeroom on: December 08, 2022, 07:30:00 AM
This story reminds me of the Martin Lawrence & Will Smith movie Bad Boys 2. In that movie there were rats that were eating all of a drug kingpin’s cash before he could export it to Cuba. “It’s a stupid problem to have, but it is a problem.”  When they hired exterminators that’s when the undercover cops showed up. I guess I’m this situation they don’t have to worry about that, although I’m guessing that their internal affairs unit has been keeping an eye out for stoned rats.
4502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 4000BTC encrypted wallet.dat (HELP NEEDED) on: December 08, 2022, 07:05:38 AM
Hi everyone,
Recently I got access to an encrypted wallet.dat which contains 4000 Bitcoins.
~

It is a fake wallet file, and you have been tricked into buying something that does not exist.

Even if it isn’t a fake wallet file and is completely legitimate, the fact that it’s encrypted should be enough for you to know it isn’t worth your time. The wallet could be encrypted with a stronger password than the private key it’s safeguarding. It’s not like people go around handing out wallets with a ton of value and a weak encryption. That’s why everyone is saying the same thing, this is a waste of time and effort.
4503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining Ergo and Ravencoin for 2024 on: December 08, 2022, 12:29:33 AM
Ravencoin has always been a bit of a darling to me. I like that it seemingly had Overstock’s support at one point and had paid developers working on it. I’ve never even heard of Ergo, so I assume it’s just another shitcoin with a large advertising budget? If it were me and I had to choose between holding those 2 coins, I would mine a more profitable coin and use them to purchase RVN. Better would be to use a site like NiceHash and stack sats…
4504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My friend has S11 Pro, Which Crypto Will give me more profit than Bitcoin mini on: December 08, 2022, 12:27:01 AM
The options really are limited when you’re talking about a product that is made with a dedicated ASIC specifically for mining BTC. Sure, there are other options out there but nothing is want to touch and even if you were planning to invest in a different sha256 coin, you’d still be better off mining BTC and then using that to buy BSV or BCH or whatever other shitcoin you might have your eye on.
4505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Trading Crypto With a Job.. on: December 08, 2022, 12:24:52 AM
I’ve never heard of that exchange so I assume this is some sort of advertisement for it… Anyway, I don’t think it’s a good idea to trade at all regardless if you’re at work or not. Sure, losing money while making it is probably better than losing money at home, but don’t fool yourself, you’ll lose money like all other traders. Be an investor and build a portfolio instead of enriching an exchange to take your money.

Abour Poirier and his staff infection.

It was always hard for me to understand how irresponsible adults are about their health. When their kid gets a tiny red pimple, as an allergic reaction to overload of new food, they sign that kid to a hundred of doctor visits. But when they themselves are about to die they are like “naaah, it will cure itself”.

It want like Poirier put on his socks in the morning, went to gym, put of a socks and observed that mess with his leg. Such staff problems does not happen instantly. He must have skipped showing that crap to a doc for days or a week. In addition, his responsibility could lead to infecting other people in the gym! What a douchebag.

He’s training and fighting every day. He probably thought it was just like the thousands of other injuries he’s had in the past and didn’t think much of it. Eventually when it became clear this was something he wasn’t used to, he went to the doctor and got it fixed. I don’t think he should be criticized for not being a pussy. I’m sure if he went to the hospital for every little thing that you would, he’d live there.

I’m glad he’s responding to the antibiotics and wish him well.
4507  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are the chances of FTX raising funds... on: December 08, 2022, 12:19:31 AM
Unlike that Shark Tank guy (I forget his name) I don’t believe there is any chance that anyone in their right mind will hand over billions of dollars to Sam now that the cat is out of the bag that he’s just a bad scammer and not a trading genius. Before people thought he was this altruistic guy with tons of money, but it’s clear now that he was a con artist obsessed with creating a false image of himself. It will be a miracle if he avoids jail and if FTX raises the funds they need, you can be sure the money is as dirty as can be.
4508  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MTGOX Claim Identity Verification - I am blocked, can't select Repayment Method on: December 06, 2022, 11:46:35 PM
Thank you, Gallar, for constructive and supportive comment!  I got verified!

Nice.  I'm glad you got it taken care of.  It would be a shame to have problems this far down the line when payouts are seemingly just around the corner.

I finally took the time to verify my identity and select a repayment method.  I chose crypto and an early lump sum repayment.  I may still switch it to the other later payout, but we'll see.  I'd hate to think I'm leaving BTC on the table and I have no need for it anytime soon, but I don't like the idea of letting them delay this any further even though it is probably the smart thing to do.  Anyone have a strong opinion either way?
4509  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 06, 2022, 11:44:04 PM
Tuesday night on TNT has a lot of superstar power on tonight's doubleheader.  First you have the Lakers and Cavaliers.  Always a good matchup when LeBron takes on Cleveland.  The Lakers have been playing great lately too so that game might be surprising.  The Cavs are favored to win by 5.5.  Then you have the Nuggets and the Mavericks.  The Mavs just played yesterday against the Suns and that's a pretty intense matchup so I'm guessing they may be a step slow today.  With the Nuggets also 5.5 point favorites I think everyone else is expecting them to win also.  Gametime in about 45 minutes.
4510  Economy / Goods / Re: ~ Buying a TESLA CYBERTRUCK with BITCOIN ~ on: December 06, 2022, 08:16:21 PM
But anyways, I wish you good luck and I will be following and waiting for your review of the truck when you finally get it - congratulations in advance mate.
this is awesome lol, can't wait to see it! congrats! Cool

Thanks guys.  As this thread continues to age I can't escape the reality that time stops for no man and just hope that with all the calamity in the world I can live long enough to own one of these bad boys.  Smiley

Today did bring a cool new Cybertruck rumor.  There are people noticing a drawing of a 2-door Cybertruck at Tesla's museum exhibit and putting that together with comments from Elon about a smaller Cybertruck making sense in the future are now sure that a 2-door Cybertruck is in the works.  You can read the comments and see pictures of the 2-door Cybertruck drawing using the below link.  Smiley

4511  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Selling 4 original Beatles Mini-Records, Two with original signatures. on: December 06, 2022, 08:08:09 PM
maybe a little less due to the fact they have random names and writing on them

This is probably the biggest thing for me.  Without having the signatures certified they basically ruin the records.  That along with the poor quality makes them something that would not be coveted by hardcore collectors, but may be a good buy for a Beatles fan that wants to listen to some old records.  That's why I think this would be a difficult item to sell here.  Maybe a pawn shop or a forum for Beatles fans will bring you a little more in the way of good offers.  I'm not sure there's any hardcore Beatles fans around here that would value these for the music on them instead of the collector's value.
4512  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Two Bitcoin Stories from the AfroBitcoin Conference in Ghana 2022 on: December 06, 2022, 07:59:43 PM
I'm not sure if using Bitcoin to pay a ransom to kidnappers is exactly the sort of development we'd like to see with Bitcoin, but I'm glad that someone feels they were helped out by it.

I like the second story much better and would like to think that Bitcoin has helped some oppressed women become financially independent from those that control them.  I hope that these sorts of stories are what continue to appear as they represent the good side of Bitcoin, while story #1 seems to represent more of the bad side of what Bitcoin can be used for.  With a little luck, maybe we'll see more of story 2 in the future and less of story 1.
4513  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BASIC TRADING UNDERSTANDING on: December 06, 2022, 07:56:26 PM
The most basic form of understanding when it comes to trading is that there is a sucker in every trade.  If you don't know who the sucker is, it's you.  This saying seems especially true when it comes to trading cryptocurrencies.  You either understand that things like FTT or LUNA were scams created to alleviate you from the trouble of holding onto your BTC.  My advice, hold onto your Bitcoin and don't get involved in any trades where it isn't clear who the sucker is.  Personally, I think anyone willing to give up their BTC right now is the sucker, so unless you are overinvested and need to sell to pay bills, hold tight to your coins and avoid being the sucker.
4514  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The patience to hold is a gift on: December 06, 2022, 07:54:14 PM
There are people with patience, and there are shitcoiners.  If you've held Bitcoin for a good amount of time, you've probably made a lot of money.  If you've traded altcoins for a good amount of time, you've probably lost a lot of money.  That's just how it works.  That patience to hold Bitcoin has been rewarding for many.  I've even heard that Bitcoin exists to reward savers and punish traders.  That seems to be true looking backward.  I don't think given a long enough time frame the future will be any different.  Buy Bitcoin, hold onto your BTC, don't let any exchange or service talk you out of them, and you'll probably do alright.
4515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Need Help with Full Node on: December 06, 2022, 07:38:21 PM
You might not need a node to interact with ethereum though, I think you can do a lot of things from a wallet.

This is sort of what I was thinking as I was reading this.

Are you sure you need a full node?  What are you doing that makes you think that you need a full node?  My understanding is that running an ETH full node requires a ton of space and is a total pain in the ass.  The beauty of smart chains though is that you can interact with the chain without needing a node.  Maybe you misunderstood your friend and he was talking about uploading a smart contract to the chain as opposed to downloading the chain?  I think more information from you would likely lead to the advice of just using smart contracts on the chain and avoiding a node.
4516  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CHANGING TERMAL PADS ON ASIC on: December 06, 2022, 07:35:30 PM
Here I am again, it has been working for more than 1 hour with the fans at 90% and the temperatures are stable at these values. The oc is automatic and changes frequencies automatically. Some asics are hotter than others, probably due to layout.

A couple of those bad boys are getting pretty hot.  If you're happy with it that's fine, but making sure that a good connection with the heatsinks is occurring might be a good idea.  I've never used thermal pads and have always been a paste (pasta?) guy.  It just seems to work better.  I'm glad you've come to the same conclusion (seemingly) and that you were able to get this running.  I would be a little concerned about a couple of those ASIC temps, but they seem to be in the minority so hopefully even if they do burn out you'll still be able to operate the miner fine.  Good luck!
4517  Economy / Speculation / Re: Generational Buying Period is On-Going on: December 06, 2022, 07:30:40 PM
I agree.  If you've been sitting on the sidelines watching this market and waiting for a time to get in, this is it.  You should be dollar cost average buying into this market and if you're lucky you might get several months or even a year to accumulate before it jumps up and starts another run.  If history repeats, you'll be well rewarded, but you do have to take the risk.  You have to buy, buy regularly, and resist the temptation to trade.  The next halving isn't so far off that we could see a ton more falling and the market has been holding up well in spite of all the calamity and miners selling.  The next bubble is only about 900 days away.  Stay alive.  Hold on.
4518  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin Price Hit $23,000 in Q1 2023? on: December 06, 2022, 07:27:38 PM
That seems like a reasonable prediction if the market does start to rally.  Much better than some of the other folks like Tim Draper calling for a $250,000 BTC next year.  I think it's likely we bounce around in the $20K-$30K range until the market can find direction and this FTX nonsense is behind us.  I haven't seen any evidence that the 4-year cycle is dead though, so personally I would stick to making outrageously high predictions for the summer of 2025.  FTX kept BTC prices low by not buying BTC for his customers and dumping their money into shitcoins.  If regulation happens to stop this sort of market attack in the next bull run, things could get wild.
4519  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stake.com Ghostnipple: Identity Theft and IP Theft on: December 06, 2022, 07:25:10 PM
I don't think you posting content on their platform and them not being willing to remove it counts as the theft of intellectual property.  I don't believe they have any responsibility to act upon your request to remove your content.  Sure, it sucks, but I imagine the reason for them doing this isn't to profit from your amazing content.  More likely they don't have the manpower to be catering to people who are worried about such things.  They have money to make, not a community to moderate.  If you are causing problems, they aren't going to tip toe around to make sure you feel like your rights are respected.  They'll just take action and move on.  The level of catering you're seeking can't be scaled at the level they're operating.
4520  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My concern of security when using casino houses. on: December 06, 2022, 07:21:45 PM
I've had friends call me late at night to pick them up after winning a lot of money at casinos.  It's a genuine concern.  People will stake out winners and jump them in parking lots to steal winnings.  Casinos especially seem to have some of the shadiest customer bases of any place I can think of.  They also stay open late at night.  If you've got a ton of cash on you and it's late at night, walking through giant parking lots probably isn't the best idea.  Where I live you can carry a gun so it isn't the worst thing to have to do, but if you're able, having a friend who can pick you up right at the exit is the way to go.
