4501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What You Think About UNI coin Is It good to Hold It For Longterm perspective on: October 07, 2020, 12:05:09 PM
Imo, users who traded on uniswap before September and received the free 400 UNI tokens should sell the coins and take the returns they can get now, UNI tokens, just like quite a lot of altcoin tokens are only good for short term, if you are looking for good crypto to hold, you can exchange your free UNI tokens for either Bitcoin or ethereum and hodl it. Eth network is looking forward to eth 2.0, while Bitcoin got halved few months ago, which are green signs of a spike in both of this coins, and are very much better options than holding UNI tokens.
4502  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some tips for posting habit and to grow in bitcointalk forum on: October 06, 2020, 08:21:55 PM
Sixth, Read all the post above before making the reply. As much as possible try to avoid replies that are already mention. You can agree to it and add details if you think it is necessary but not to repeat the same reply or ideas that has been posted above already.
This one is something I like to do, but it's more difficult if you're actually posting in a page other than the first (I prefer to always post on the first page of a thread), If you're making a post on maybe the second, third or fourth + page , it's pretty difficult to read every post made prior to the one you're about to make and tbh everyone will feel lazy to do that.

That being said, I think the most salient is to make sure to have read the op very well and few replies afterwards to be sure if there is still a need to post your own ideas. And another thing is, most times discussions changes slightly away from the original post and posters who post a little later, after reading only the op, might look slightly off-topic, so if the thread is more than two pages or so, it's good to read the op, few replies after the op and a few replies before the one you're about to make, it'll help to understand the thread much better, without reading everything.
4503  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: October 06, 2020, 08:03:42 PM
If the absence of fans from the stadium reduced the enthusiasm for the big teams and boost the aurer of the mid tier teams on the pitch or
It's just the Covid19 and stress at due to too much previous participation in other leagues by big teams.
It's neither of that imo, absence of fans in the stadiums affects all the teams and the hurried conclusion to last season was felt by all the premier league teams. That being said, no English team actually went past the quarter finals of the CL and those who dropped in the QF, and semis of the Europa league had delayed start to this season, so it's a fair playing ground for all the teams. Everton, Villa, West Ham and the other smaller teams doing well are only in good form, and it's best they keep picking up this points, so in the end they are far away as possible from relegation, cause the big boys will definitely soon take at least the top 3 positions in the table.
Would love to hear your opinions on this.
Covid-19 is still in other countries, like Italy for example, but fans are already allowed into the stadiums, not in the numbers it used to be before, but it's better than it being totally empty. imo, the epl can start allowing a fair number of fans into the grounds, maintaining social distancing and with their face masks on, it'll spice up even more, an already spiced up 2020/21 epl season Grin

Earning a bit of money than learning good knowledge is not worth it so, I decided to join this forum because I know that I can learn better here than cryptotralk.
Of course, all you need to do on cryptotalk is just to post and you get paid, that's definitely bound to affect the levels of quality post on that forum, but on btt, even if you are ever going to get paid to post, you must have been posting quality posts for sometime on the forum, contributing to the forum, helping newbies, giving suggestions and other whatnots, all these will enable you rank up and eventually if you wish, earn on a signature campaign.

So, you have actually picked the better forum, which is Bitcointalk, if you read through the threads on btt, you'll understand how much efforts users put in to educate other users on the important aspects of the Bitcoin network like security, privacy, anonymity, trading advice/investment plans etc.
IMO Cryptotalk and similar forums based on paid to post incentive won't last that long, unless they can create their money out of nowhere (looks like Cryptotalk did it with their token). Even if they were able to do that, the money you earned will be smaller as time goes on. Might as well do some faucets.
+1.
Cryptotalk tokens will prolly be worthless in the long run, and they are paying users with it now only to keep the forum running, I think if there is no incentive such as they are doing, their traffic will be close to zero, that's why it's somewhat counterproductive, and better to build a forum based on quality than earning incentives.
4506  Economy / Economics / Re: I lost my job, how about you guys? on: October 06, 2020, 05:06:59 AM
I know the only thing that will help me survive this crisis is cryptocurrency that is why I am active here again because fiat had failed me.
Traditional institutions plunged when the pandemic hit and have been struggling for the better part of this year, that being said, I know Bitcoin can be used as hedge against the constant devaluing fiat currencies, but mind you, Bitcoin is also a speculative asset that is still far from being stable, do not consider relying solely on Bitcoins or crypto, look to other assets, the stock market for example, gold is another good option, Gold is pretty stable and is a 'safe haven asset'.

Many people have also switched to self employment, either through providing a service or establishing a small scale business, and some governments are supporting such micro businesses to boost their economy, my point is simply that, surviving only on cryptocurrencies is risk in itself, in the long run, it's a shrewd investment plan, but short term plunges and Fud can be cataclysmic for someone with no other source of income or business.
4507  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto Scams & Our Roles. on: October 05, 2020, 07:04:48 PM
The rule of thumb to avoid scam is to wholly take the responsibility of being your own bank without trusting third parties and exchanges, there is a misconception about the Bitcoin network and scam, tbh most of the scams in the network stems from users follies and mistakes, this follies can be avoided, only if the users will be their own Banks and will painstakingly prioritize their security.

Mass adoption is affected by the misrepresentation of the network by the media, even on the beginners and help section, there are many threads on crypto scams, it's possible for newbies to stay shy off this network because of this risk concern. That being said, talking about our roles, I have stated many times already that it's impossible for anyone to protect everybody on the Bitcoin network, hence our role is only to make sure we are correcting this distorted picture the media is portraying, and try to lead people in the right direction through education on how to use this network without losing funds, few of which are, using: Non-custodial wallets, safely stored private keys, seed phrases secured, not telling everyone your own Bitcoin, etc...

Pointing Bitcoin users to btt is another valuable role we can play, this forum has protected/will continue to protect alot of people from crypto scams.

4508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Blindness in DeFi and sheeple to wealth on: October 05, 2020, 06:41:45 PM
According to the some analytics, DeFi starting to be ready for the second round of pump. Whether it true or wrong it's safe to avoid it, as lots of better investment option out there. I would choice Bitcoin here over DeFi, that's make me more comfort.
DeFi itself may not be scam per se, but most DeFi projects are losing value fast, in addition to the many exit scams, I can then state categorically that scams have taken over the DeFi network and though investors love to play around with coins when they are hyped, it's a risky way to go and the majority will lose their funds without making any ROI.

The second DeFi pump will allure investors nonetheless, crypto investors keep going against the rule of thumb of doing their own painstaking research before Investing in a project, most especially when that project is riding with so much hype, just like DeFi is doing at the moment.
4509  Economy / Economics / Re: People lose Faith and Hope for banking and tradional markets on: October 04, 2020, 08:40:02 PM
People lose hope and faith tradional markets like stock markets banking and Even Gold.
Stock prices are going high, even now that the economy is down cause of covid-19 pandemic, and even as people are investing in btc, they are doing same in the stock market, and for Gold, it's more stable that most assets and is preferable to hedge against inflation/devaluation.
Our new Banks Will be Cryptocurrency Exchangers like binance!
That is not true. Cryptocurrency investors have the responsibility to 'be their own banks' and not let exchanges do that, you should not store your coins on custodial wallets. Exchanges will never be 'banks' in this network, at least for users who understand how to store their coins safely.
There is Bad situation and Now People want to Get on BTC Before its too late.

4510  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: October 04, 2020, 08:05:10 PM
Eric García wants to leave man city
He has to leave City before the window closes tomorrow, with the acquisition of Ruben Dias, Eric Garcia will get little or no playing time in peps team, and though he's young, I think he should leave the Etihad if he wants to play, Barcelona have been trying to bring him back to the Camp nou, but they just can't reach a successful negotiation with City atm. That being said, Eric is in his final year of his contract with City, if he doesn't move now, he'll leave for free next season, the thing is Barca kinda needs his services starting from this season and can't wait till then to get him for free, we'll see what happens tomorrow.
Yes, rumors that Edinson Cavani, Uruguay's top striker, will be carried off for 2 years by Manchester United in the transfer market this summer and has a very large salary of around 200 thousand pounds sterling per week.
I don't quite understand this transfer by Manchester United, after watching them concede 6 today against Spurs, I don't know how much Edinson Cavani can improve this team up front, Edinson is no longer an excellent CF, and I know he was prolly bought as a makeshift, but Martial isn't even a prolific CF, so they actually needed a complete striker and they aren't getting that.

A draw between Leeds vs Manchester City does not mean Manchester City are playing badly.
Of course City are not playing bad, do they ever play bad under pep, but they are dropping points and Liverpool are winning, if klopps men win today, City are already trailing by eight points, with a game in hand though, but it's still not acceptable and if Liverpool replicate last seasons form and winning mentality, then pep can already start watching the title slip away to the red half of merseyside.

Talking about merseyside clubs, Everton are still on their 100% record in the premier league. James Rodriguez, Calvert and the rest of the boys are all on top form, can Carlo Ancelloti pull of a title challenge with Everton this season, they look like they can, even if they don't win the Epl, a top four finish will mean a UCL spot and that's a dream for Everton fans.

P.S The merseyside derby will be tougher this season and IIRC, Everton vs Liverpool is right after the international break, can Everton enjoy success in the Derby this season, cause they rarely do.
4513  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Advice or Help Plan for newbies on: October 03, 2020, 08:05:44 PM
Why else people come?  For money off course!!
You cannot state categorically that that is the reason why users join btt, Bitcointalk is not a forum that pays to post, like cryptotalk, so it's not a scenario were users register and immediately start posting to get paid, there are stages users must pass to become 'eligible' to earn from the forum. If one is interested in Bitcoin, then they should be on this forum, there is no better crypto forum than btt, to learn the responsibility there is of 'being your own bank' and avoiding scams.

If you even have money to invest in Bitcoin, without a fair level of knowledge on the network, it's security protocols and other whatnots, then such people will definitely make mistakes, they'll choose the wrong wallet, make errors in keeping their private keys/seed phrase, will easily fall for malware and phishing links and will prolly lose their funds, all that is what the forum protects users from through the contributions of other users who put efforts in posting about scams, how to avoid them and the best ways to store funds. That's what people come here to learn and discuss Bitcoin generally, and if the users who make this knowledge available earn through signature campaigns, there should not be any complain about that.
4514  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Interviews] with Bitcointalk members on: October 03, 2020, 07:15:57 PM
Thanks to the Bitcointalk community and to Zazad, this are my answers to the questions, I hope you can all read to the end Grin

1. When and why did you become interested in cryptocurrencies?
By interested, I'll take it to mean the moment I had heard and seen enough for me to decide to join the Bitcoin community, when was in mid 2018, and why is: I'm pretty inquisitive, so the moment I read about Bitcoin on the internet, I decided the technology reposited so much for someone like myself to benefit from, as a student from a country with a poor economy and high level of inflation, I considered Bitcoin as an alternative to my devaluing fiat currencies and since then, I've adopted the technology without any recourse to regret that decision I made two years back.

2. When and why did you buy your first bitcoin?
IIRC I've not bought Bitcoin from an exchange before, I mostly deal via p2p, as I consider it less intrusive into my privacy. when was in 2019, and why was because I had 'earned' all my Bitcoins prior to then, without giving fiat in exchange, I wanted to experience buying Bitcoin with my money, as well as Increase my btc stack in my portfolio, I've been buying little by little since that time, but most of my Bitcoins have been earned through one service or the other.

3. How did you get on the forum?
This is the best part of this questionnaire, cause I consider this forum the best annex of my Bitcoin journey, cause without this forum, I'm sure I would have lost every single sat I have earned/bought and I must have left the Bitcoin network by now, calling it a scam as many people do from the 'outside'. In the university I had this tech savvy friend who was always on his laptop looking to learn new things and inventions, that friend of mine found out about Bitcointalk and shared that knowledge with me, and since we both were already interested in Bitcoin, we needed guidance and we found out this forum can provide us with that as well as an opportunity to also earn more Bitcoins for ourselves, I know it's prolly not possible, but anyone who owns, invests or trades in btc or cryptocurrencies ought to be on btt, and I'm happy to be part of this community.

4.1. What prevents mass adoption of cryptocurrencies?
There are many factors hampering Bitcoin adoption:
a)The media, the media portrays the wrong side of Bitcoin to people who aren't in the network yet, there have been so many publications of scams in Bitcoin, without actually mentioning the follies/mistakes of the victims, this somewhat discourages new adopters to the network
b)the risk concern of losing funds, joining the Bitcoin network comes with a whole lot of responsibility of protecting and securing your funds yourself that many people do not want to take up
C)lack of understanding, for example there are many people who are yet to join the network because they are yet to fully understand the technicalities or what the network is all about, if these people actually get a clearer knowledge, I think they will join the bitcoin community and Increase btc adoption.

4.2. How do you think mass advertising of gambling projects has a positive effect on the development of the forum or harms the community?
If gambling companies are advertising their services on the forum, there is no problem with that, people are quite used to gambling, and will do so even without this companies advertising on btt, many casinos now support crypto on their site, it helps in adoption, and advertising on the forum benefits all parties, it's a win-win for all, the forum, the companies, the campaign participants helping with the advertisement, btc adoption and all.

4.3. How do you consider whether 2-3 years of experience in cryptocurrency is enough to successfully invest or does an investor need to receive special education?
Obviously two years and above is quite a long time, actually enough to get a degree, lol. Special education isn't needed, but of course we all have different learning speed, but two years should be enough time even for an average Joe to understand btc investments and other whatnots involved in it. And mind you that success in investment doesn't always depend on how long one has been on the network, though experience ensures you make the right decision 9 out of 10.

5. What do you think of the current Merit system and signature campaigns?  Do they harm the forum?
They do not harm the forum in any way. The merit system doesn't have any flaw from my own point of view, though it can be frustrating at the beginning if one starts of by not earning them when truly putting effort, but that should not discourage such users, as going forward they'll start to get noticed and merited likewise. The merit system has also mitigated a large chunk of the spam on the forum, atm, I don't see anything to be changed as regards the merit system. As for signature campaigns, If a good user will contribute to the forum and earn bitcoins for doing so, then so be it, that's exactly my thoughts on signature campaigns on the forum, just like the merit system, it has no flaws as far as I know and nothing should be changed in that aspect.

6. The most useful forum topic? Most helpful users?
The most useful topic is a subjective question, we all have areas we put more of our interest on, so "most useful topics" will vary from user to user, for me I'll say it's the topic that introduced the merit system, by theymos: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0 the merit system changed quite a lot of things on the forum and has numerous pros like I had said earlier in the question on the merit system. As for most helpful users:
I'll start with cryptopreneurbrainboss, who is a wonderful asset to the btt/btt African community, a great campaign manager and good merit source. The next is Hhampuz, I'll have to say his contributions to this forum is somewhat 'underrated', to handle the number of campaigns/contests he does on the forum and do it smoothly deserves great praise, he is an asset to this community by a long mile, fillippone, one of the fastest merit earners on the forum with more than 4000 merits, he inspires me and many others to do better and I'll conclude with LoyceV and DdmrDdmr, their tools and statistics have made the forum easier to use and understand.

7. 3 things you would implement on the forum?
The forum is perfect imo, I see so many users asking for the new software to come sooner, I'll be happy if it does, but I love the forum the way it is and I wouldn't implement anything new if I'm giving the honors.

8. Do you trade on exchanges or invest in projects?
No, I stopped trading long ago and the only project I believe/invest in for now is Bitcoin.

9. Tell a story about your big profit or big loss?
Okay story time, when I was new in the Bitcoin community, I believed in diversification back then and I bought so much altcoins/tokens that managed to list their coins on exchanges, I held them for quite a while, waiting for them to go to the 'moon', I literally had to watch my money go to zero, as those tokens lost all their value and were worth nothing after many months, that's prolly why I focus solely on Bitcoin atm due to that loss.

10. What do you think about the DEFI ecosystem?
I don't know too much about the DeFi system, I didn't bother to look deeper into it, but I think it's investors should be careful and understand it could prolly end up like ico/ieo, after all the hype turned into a total scam with many users losing their funds via that process.

11. Is your anonymity a vital necessity or precaution?
I believe in anonymity, I think it's necessary for me, and I try as much as possible to give very little about my real self away on the internet, privacy/anonymity/security should be a necessity for all Bitcoin users. a treatise on Bitcoin and privacy by fillippone is a good thread for everyone to read and understand it's importance.

12. The last cryptocurrency book you read?
I'm yet to finish any Bitcoin/crypto book, but for now, I'm currently reading "Mastering Bitcoin", I've not had the time to finish it, but however slow I am, I'll keep reading it till I'm done.

13. Advise 3 cryptocurrencies/tokens for investment in the next 1-2 years?
Bitcoin, and maybe ethereum, the third will be either Bitcoin or ethereum, lol.

14. How much will Bitcoin cost at the end of 2020?
Bitcoin will cost around 17-19k at the end of the year, while 2021 will see it cross the previous ath.

15. P.S. (Optional)
The forum is a wonderful place to learn quite a lot of things about Bitcoin, everyone should have fun here as they acquire the knowledge the forum gives us all, thanks all.

4516  Economy / Economics / Re: Stocks fall down due to trump catching the virus on: October 02, 2020, 02:27:21 PM
Is the economy dependent on the health of Trump?
The economy isn't dependent on the health of Trump, but a big news about Donald Trump (for example uncertainty around his life or whereabouts) can affect the stock market and maybe even Bitcoin (it could be positively or negatively), but Trump infected by covid-19 isn't a pretty big news (cause if he actually has it, he'll definitely recover), and that info is yet to be confirmed if truly the POTUS has actually contracted corona virus or not, the fall in the stocks/Bitcoin imo had nothing to do with Trump and his wife contracting Corona virus.

4517  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beware of "Pay original fine" - a scam method on: October 02, 2020, 06:48:19 AM
For the exchanges that don't have reputations or a small exchange, maybe I only register and see what is inside on that exchange, and if I think that is not fit for me, I will leave and not use that exchange to trade.
The rule of thumb for users who want to trade or try out small exchanges like this is to play around with small amount, or coins of low value, so if the exchange comes out as scam, locks your deposit and asks for a ransom, forfeiting your initial deposit would not be too much of a problem and the loss will be minimal. Depositing large amounts of btc into untrusted exchanges is how people get scammed more than once, cause they panic when the scam exchange locks their funds, and they will gullibly want to retrieve their initial deposit as it's worth much and they deposit again.
4518  Other / Meta / Re: Do we need / does anyone want a what happened to member "X" thread? on: October 02, 2020, 06:29:10 AM
"what ever happened to them" and it looks like they just up and left.
Sounds like something most users will actually want to know about inactive users, if for anything, to be sure they are fine and okay and prolly not even to know the exact reason why they are inactive, which of course is their personal decision. If a user is inactive, their friends on other social platforms can give a heads up to everyone on btt that they are fine and doing well (without going into details) if there is a thread that's already discussing that users absence, but if there is none, then there is prolly no need to worry about it or to start one.
4519  Economy / Economics / Re: Are the Central Banks starting to worry about the public's perception? on: October 01, 2020, 06:31:53 PM
Even if the central banks aren't worried, the public's opinion is definitely changing. There have been many reasons for that to happen this year alone and looking to the coming years were inflation could be at the peak, Bitcoin and other anti-inflationary assets like gold are already being purchased by the masses and corporations that formerly kept their assets solely in fiat, to act as a hedge against a constantly devaluing fiat currencies.

The central banks and their directors may not be worried, they have a way to always make the system favor them. TBH I think it's the 'common man' that should actually be worried about their funds, and have to choose the option of anti-inflationary/decentralized/alternative assets such as btc and gold to retain a pretty stable value of their funds.
4520  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: October 01, 2020, 05:02:30 PM
Manchester United would have hoped for an easier group, they look like the team that could finish third in that group behind PSG and Leipzig, two very strong teams, sorry to Manchester United fans, but I think they could end up in the Europa league at the end of the group stage.

Group G brings Messi and Ronaldo back against each other, after their battle in Spain, the media are already talking about it and fans are already looking forward to that match, the both teams (Juve and Barca) will definitely go through, but what football fans around the world will want to see is when Ronaldo and Messi come up against each other yet again.
