They will need to install million dollar Bit-Coin scanners at every airport now. I suppose it will be a no-bid contract with Halliburton.

Regulation only affects acquiring bitcoins. The fundamentals do not change. Speculators have already taken this into account.
And this is why I'm a noob. I have no idea how that relates to my prediction. Your "Account Verification" hint infers regulation of some sort. I doubt you have any information that hasn't been considered and extensively discussed on this forum.

I traded all my Ripple at therocktrading.com. Ripple is just another DigiCash that will fail. In the mean time, if they want to blow 9 figures marketing it, I'll cash in.

Currently Mt Gox and other exchanges are the only source for price reporting. With a decentralized exchange, how will anybody know how much Bitcoin is worth? How do black markets work? Not very well.

edit: Is this the function of the Advanced feature: Markets?

Personally I don't think it's a good thing for that megalomaniac to have interest in it.
This worries me, someone who has built the worlds largest repository of more than a billion people's thoughts, photos, address, phone numbers, friends, etc and actually could give two f**cks about user privacy, and was a part of the NSA PRIZM program (naturally) getting into btc will completely throw out what bitcoin is about. No thanks Mark. I remember someone mentioning that back in Facebook's early days Zuck was speaking to his cronies, and mentioned that "people who use Facebook are stupid" this was before the platform was opened to devs. Once the open graph and other FB APIs became available and I took a look at the massive amount of data you could use in your app I was a believer in the fact that he probably did make that comment. Many of the people using Facebook have no idea the things us developers can access on them. Remember Mark is a nerd. I don't follow your objection. Why don't you start the world's largest social network and base it on anonymity? Here's a freebie. Call it PoserBook. Nowhere did I say I wanted to start a social network. What Mark has done is an achievement in of itself. But I think your missing the point of what I'm saying the mission statement of Facebook and what bitcoin stand for are not in alignment what so ever. Since when is the mission of FB not about making billions? What better way to monetize everything than with Bitcoin?

I don't expect a breakout until there is more good news. June-August are vacation months in USA. There really isn't anything exciting going on in Bitcoin, so maybe getting outdoors and forgetting about it is a good thing. Bitcoin cannot die. Repeat after me. "Bitcoin will always bubble."

I am a little surprised that Namecoin isn't in the mix here.

I understand that OT is open source like Ripple,
Currently Ripple is *not* open source (and it needs XRP which OT does not). Ah, I see they have a GitHub, but no source files. Suspicious Scam.

I understand that OT is open source like Ripple, but is it also centralized like Ripple as well? What makes OT any different than Ripple? Bitmessage is a decentralized messaging system that could relay Ripple gateways as well as OT servers could it not?

why not? I thought Bitcoin suppose to connect the world
potentially losing the world's reserve currency status is never a good thing. It's the best the world could happen. Finally some survival of the fittest again... Or at least a lesson in humility.

If IT folks would spend half as much of their time learning about Bitcoin as trashing it, they would have a better understanding. Posts like these just confirm my opinion that most IT (present company excepted) have tunnel-vision and limited intelligence.

Electricity prices are probably mining cost-prohibitive. But OTOH, Satoshi Nakamoto probably owns 10% or more of the bitcoins just himself.

I'm amazed at how much people here are insisting so much to make bitcoin more adapted and are failing quite fantastically
This movement is defintely showing signs of exhaustion and desperation
Do you have an example of such an insistence?

It sounds like they don't know how to incorporate Bitcoin into any other regulating agencies. With voluntary regulation, they have a point of contact to harass when something happens they don't understand. Who would be willing to stick their neck out like this? It would be better to wait for a sovereign nation to adopt Bitcoin. Then FinCEN would have little to say about it. They would either outlaw it and remain in the 20th Century, or embrace it and join the globalized economy.
