4522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin be considered the “gold” of crypto investment? on: November 19, 2020, 05:17:03 PM
For the one millionth billionth time, Bitcoin and Gold are NOT the same thing.  Asking the question "is investing in Bitcoin as good as investing as gold?" is completely misguided.

Gold is a precious metal, it is used as jewelry, inside electronics etc.  Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency, an electronic means of payment.  Yes they both share the properties of being a financial asset and a store of value, but are very different things.  Gold is a much better store of value /hedge and shouldn't be compared.  The answer to the question whether you should own bitcoin or gold is simple...own both.
4523  Economy / Collectibles / [Free Raffle #1 of 2] - Alpen Coin -Hybrid/Funded on: November 19, 2020, 05:07:17 PM
Frank from Alpen Coin ( https://www.alpencoin.ch/ ) wanted to thank the community here for all the support since he released his first coin back in the summer time.  I will be hosting TWO thank you raffles for Frank (participants can only join ONE of the two raffles).

First coin to be raffled is coin #380 , Series 1, Matte Finish.  This coin was never released as the hologram was ruined in production, so Frank has added a Series 2 hologram to the coin..making it the only "hybrid" Alpen Coin in existence.

Rules: 1 spot per person, must choose which spot you want, no brand new accounts allowed.

Shipping: Worldwide Included (Not responsible for any customs/duties/VAT fees).

Once raffle is full I will choose a future block to mined, the last character in that block decides winner.

Arizona the Public Play today and the way they have been looking not surprised.
I dont like the Seattle Defense and to be honest, R. Wilson has not been looking like R. Wilson the last couple of games. Will he wake up today?

Im still on the fence but probaly give Wilson a chance. Lets hope he wakes up!

He didn't look like Wilson the last game but the game before he still threw for 390 yds and 2 TDs.  Last time he faced Arizone he put up 388 yards and 3 TDs..so I think he will "wake up" this game but I'm not sure it's enough to cover the -3 AZ spread, which is exactly how much they lost by last time they faced off in week 7.  They are at home this time however, so that certainly helps some.
4525  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 25k new Bitcoin addresses in 1 hour on: November 19, 2020, 04:23:32 PM
Everyone is saying No, as if there's nothing to take away from this.  I think it is worthy of taking in to account to an extent.  I'm not saying it's a huge tell tale sign, but it's still notable.  We can always assume that the majority of new addresses is from existing "bitcoiners" and compare bull run times like now compared to slower times. Surely there is a difference.

Right now my favorite sector to invest in is the IoT sector or "Internet of Things".  Semiconductors are a big part of this sector and how it works.  I have been a big investor and fan of Nvidia, Skyworks Solutions, AMD, Texas Instruments etc for some time now. An ETF they are all in SOXX, has been one of the best performers for years now.  The IoT sector is taking over the world. Being connected at all times is big business and will only continue to grow.
4528  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin always remain an investment vehicle? on: November 18, 2020, 03:56:33 PM
I use bitcoin right now as a means of currency all of the time.  I buy and transact with both friends and businesses.  Yes Bitcoin has become an investment, but it's inherently not one.  It's harder for people to see this during bull runs like right now where it's expensive and slow to transact, but often this is not the case. So the answer is we are already there.
4529  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe NBA is rigged? on: November 18, 2020, 03:54:26 PM
Rigging up games isnt that something surprising but on todays era where i cant see any games that do have some shady decision calls by refs.
There's still a lot today mate, but they are careful with it as we already have a media where people can freely published what they see, so it will be easy for people to know and the organization as a whole will be affected. I know one ref admitted that he is rigging the game but he did not say it was the order by the organization or the top management, it was only for his personal interest.

That ref was caught decades ago and there's been no proof of cheating or fixed games since.  I am aware that there is cheating someway somehow in every sport, but for there to be refs constantly fixing games in the NBA, I think the players would pick up on this.  Players care a lot about the outcome of game, they make a ton of money as is..if anyone knew it was going on they would and they wouldn't stand for it as a whole.
4530  Other / Archival / Re: 6 Most Popular Criticisms Of Bitcoin on: November 17, 2020, 05:17:17 PM
1. Bitcoin is too volatile to be a store of value.
I would agree to an extent.  Gold is technically a better store of value.  That being said, a store of value doesn't guarantee that it won't change values up or down quickly.

2. Bitcoin has failed as a means of payment.
Bitcoin is still being used as a means of payment, so not sure how this is the case.

3. Bitcoin is wasteful.
This has some truth to it, some not.

4. Bitcoin is used for illicit activity.
So is every other type of currency on earth.  Bitcoin used much less , as fiat money is much better to use for illegal activities.

5. Bitcoin is not backed by anything.
This is a positive, it is a decentralized asset.

6. Bitcoin will be replaced by a competitor
This is very possible.
4531  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: November 17, 2020, 05:13:33 PM
Of course the year that the draft isn't very deep the Bulls get the 4th pick.  However of all years to be glad you don't get pick one would be this year.  I'm not sure how much of LaMelo's dad I can take.  Surprised at how good all those boys have been however. Hopefully the Bulls can pull a rabbit out of a hat this time around.

Nice job putting this together.  I had heard Citi was bullish on bitcoin but wasn't exactly sure what they were saying about it until now.  I think this goes to show how far the adoption of bitcoin has truly come. When you're getting financial money transacting businesses such as PayPal and Citi Bank, that says a lot, as they never wanted anything to do with bitcoin initially.
4534  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen for Amazon to accept Bitcoin? on: November 17, 2020, 04:44:36 PM
I think the only e-commerce / retail giant out there that has ever accepted bitcoin was Overstock, and I'm not sure that they do anymore.  I think that Amazon simply doesn't have the need or desire to accept bitcoin payments right now.  Honestly if they did, how many of us would even use it?  I think bitcoin needs to evolve as a currency before this will happen.

Thought I'd share Alpen Coin's newly produced coin shared by Alpen Coin maker Frank.  I'm not sure when this is going to be on sale. I think Frank did an awesome job and not that I didn't love the first coin but I like this one even more so.  Also he did a great job with the hologram size and placement this time.

Nice ones but are those funded again? What kind of metal they used this time? They look a bit too shiny. I like the coin, maybe will get a chance to grab one or two this time Smiley

These coins will be funded with .001 BTC.  I'm not sure what metal was used I'll have to ask.  Personally I don't think they look too shiny, I think they look great.

@ EVERYONE ..be on the lookout for a FREE Raffle where you'll get the chance to win one of the new Alpen coins.  Compliments of Frank who wanted to thank this community for everything.
4537  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Latest Bitcoin Cash Fork Effect on Casascius Coins (or other 'pre-fork' coins) on: November 14, 2020, 10:25:28 PM
I don’t see why they wouldn’t add value. Personally I simply see forks as dividends. I also would only value these forks as to whatever their exact value is at time of sale. I personally think all bitcoin forks are shit, so I put no value or premium on these forks future potential values.

Some Satoris, BTCC coins/chips, Titans, Lealana, Casascius..pre-fork coins I can think of off the top of my head.
4538  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: November 14, 2020, 09:50:15 PM
Just wanted to share a good laugh.  One of the reasons the Chicago Bulls suck so bad is because of their dumbass fans.  They have allowed ownership to spend no money and or put out a good product on the court yet continue to watch games both on TV and in person.  They in fact had the highest ticket sales up until last year or the year before..pathetic.  I recently saw some talk about Russell Westbrook possibly going to the Bulls.  A TON of Bulls fans were saying "we want Derrick Rose instead" or "Forget Russell bring Rose back".

Just thought I'd share with you how difficult it is to be a bulls fan lol.

This is actually good because they still know that D-Rose can deliver even after a few injuries but we can't deny the fact that Russ can still deliver even though he ain't wanted in any teams. Russ should return to OKC so we can play with Steven Adams since their duo is still yet to be proven. D-Rose on the other hand should really be traded within a team that would be a contender to win the chip.

I am going to have to disagree with ya here.  The Bulls bringing Derrick Rose back makes very little sense. Rose hasn't played a full season since 2010.  The guy is constantly hurt.  Plenty of teams would love to have Westbrook too.  Despite facing some injuries himself, he's much less injury prove than Rose.  Last year Rose averaged 18pts , Westbrook avgeraged 27pts ( of course played 7 more games than Rose too).

Westbrook is someone you can build around, Derrick Rose is absolutely not.
4539  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what happened to Bitcoin and cryptocurrency? on: November 14, 2020, 09:39:41 PM
China recently released their own form of cryptocurrency.  If the United States were to ever do so, I would imagine it would look very similar to the currencies that China issued.  They are centralized coins, where the government can completely control it unlike bitcoin, which is decentralized.  This is the major difference here and why bitcoin and other crypto coins would survive just fine.
4540  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does China FUD matter anymore? on: November 14, 2020, 06:56:20 PM
This is a great question and personally a great topic to revisit for myself.  One of the first questions I came on here and asked was about the effects of China banning cryptocurrency.  Back when every time China said anything about bitcoin or crypto the value would either drop or rise significantly.  Anymore today I'm with you and the chart..I don't think it matters at all.  Bitcoin and crypto has become too global, mainstream, and is much bigger than just one country.
