Tell us how you really feel. Don't hold back. This is not a poll, it's catharsis. Be sincere. Be honest. Be brutal. If you don't feel anything really passionate to say, then say nothing and read feel what Bitcoin is to this community.

China has even more restrictive policies than USA. Everyone *wants* to do business with China, but fear the policies. When fear of US banking system > Chinese banking system, then China gets more banking business.

Trillions of dollars are "money laundered" every year. This argument is a red herring. It's far easier to form shell corporations and move millions through phoney business deals than to make untraceable Bitcoin transactions. Bitcoiners just need to ignore this nonsense, comply with whatever rules are imposed and move on. If someone really wants to launder money, they will use banks and fiat money anyway, not Bitcoin.

The technology is here, yet people are afraid to use it. People are afraid of what the US government will do even though they don't have any rules to follow. It's like finding a cure for cancer and then prosecuting the doctor that uses the treatment because cancer treatment is a thriving industry. I hate to use that analogy, but it really is that serious. Millions of people have died indirectly from the current financial system.
Maybe that's what is needed. Let's find dying people to test the Bitcoin vending machines because they have nothing to lose. Let's see if the government will throw them in prison and then create a law to retroactively charge them with. /end rant #endthefed

Did you restart Electrum so it could re-sync?

The OP offers a noble suggestion. Be careful about identifying yourself in any way, but imprisoned people need this care. I feel I have let down people I've known that fell through the cracks of society. Those cracks are widening every day.

The need was not as urgent. Torrent was created out of necessity after Napster type services were shut down. There is a new paradigm growing out of open sourced distributed and decentralized networking. There are plenty of breakthroughs to come nobody has imagined.

They had my CC on file from android app purchases though I've never used wallet. There is no option to use a bank account. I wonder if it will accept VCCs or gift cards. Otherwise, there is no point to this because I can already use CC or PayPal to purchase things.

100k would be enough
$122,000,000 may seem like a lot to you, but not to everyone. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

Couple years ago it was "Don't talk to the CIA! They're Evil, and will Destroy Bitcoin!" Now it is "Don't get involved in DC lobbying! That's Evil, and will Destroy Bitcoin!" In a few more years, I bet it'll be "Don't go to the United Nations! They're Evil, and will Destroy Bitcoin!" I'll quote myself from a related thread on google+ Walking along the beach this afternoon, enjoying the California sunshine, I think I realized where the fundamental disagreement lies. Financial privacy / freedom is a larger issue than Bitcoin, and I personally think it would be better to fight that fight separately from Bitcoin. Yes, Bitcoin is a great tool that will (I hope) bring us greater privacy/freedom. But I see advocating for Bitcoin as separate from advocating for financial privacy/freedom in general. So: I think if you want financial privacy/freedom in general, then there is at least one US organization dedicated to that goal ( http://freedomandprosperity.org/ -- we should get them to accept Bitcoin donations). I hate reinventing wheels, and am a big believer in focused organizations and projects as the way to get things done, so I think the Bitcoin Foundation should concentrate on making Bitcoin successful. I'm walking along the beach in CC, TX thanks to Bitcoin and thinking something similar, but that's just a segue. There may come a day when in fact everyone BEGS for regulation compliance for safety's sake. The real strength of Bitcoin is that its rarity regulates government, not the other way around.

The idea of Ripple isn't that bad, but it needs work. The trust issue needs to be mitigated. Perhaps online Credit Unions can be formed to operate the Gateways. Bitcoin Bearer Bonds consisting of multisig transactions can help keep the operators honest. Perhaps WoT members can hold the bond.

Are abundant here.
There is an aweful lot of begging going on for Ripple acceptance. I give it another month or two and we'll be seeing yet another premined coin system take its place.

How cute. I know the power of DHS. I am a member of DHS Highway Watch. One time I reported a bed spring laying on the highway in a call to 911. DHS broke in on the call because it was me calling it in. They have all the power of the FBI and CIA, but none of the accountability. None. Even Gestapo had to answer to their dictator, yet DHS answers no one.
Look, I'm not against regulation, but this play just shows how clueless DHS is. On a side note, I wonder how airline miles are traded and what licensing mtgox would need to issue airline miles with big long serial numbers.

A Century ago, Uranium was used as an energy drink because they only saw it as an energy emitter. It took a small group of brilliant scientists many years to make something really useful with it. Combining elliptic curve cryptography and p2p networking are like the invention of fission. Now is when the fun starts.

You would think that ... but this is Bitcoin. Just about all the businesses are like that.
There is no way that product is profitable if you have be an MSP with auditors and franchises.
Like every other industry, soon those jobs will all be automated and financial businesses will become much more profitable without human labor costs. The food service industry is in dire need of minimum wage employees and will welcome the displaced auditors. The way you get rid of tax preparers is with transaction based taxation at the time the transaction is run. The way you get rid of auditors is...? That one eludes me as people cheat all the time and all an auditor does is increase the risk associated with cheating and thereby reduce the level of cheating. They don't prevent it. Bitcoin supports triple-entry accounting which is absolutely impossible to "cook." Businesses will adapt automated biometric technologies for ID requirements. I hope future conferences will feature these technologies. The future looks bright! BTW, I hope there will be video links for those of us unable to attend.
