4541  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is Based on People's Faith on: June 26, 2017, 02:48:41 PM
"With no government or “anchor” backing up cryptocurrencies, the only foundation that cryptocurrencies have is people’s faith in their value.

In this case, what will happen when that same trust from Bitcoin holders can be diminished or for heaven's sake be gone...would that be the end of Bitcoin?

Do you really think other currencies aren't based on trust? Government backing doesn't mean anything when people don't believe in it and don't want to use it. Look at some of the inflated African currencies. They are backed by governments and still worth dust. Like those dollars from Zimbabwe and similar banana republics.
Trust and faith is the most important. The government doesn't make a country, the people do.
4542  Other / Off-topic / Re: What to do with my bitcoins ? on: June 26, 2017, 02:43:49 PM
I won't spend my Bitcoins at the moment. I think that as of now holding it is a say that I believe in the Bitcoin future and the blockchain technology.
I think that when a big retailer such as Amazon, Ebay, Alibaba will accept Bitcoin I might start using it.
I also think that holding is better. Bitcoin is very profitable at the moment and has high chances of being worth much more. Holding fiat isn't profitable at all, so I'd say the answer what to do is obvious. Spend fiat and hold/accumulate Bitcoin.
If I could I'd switch all my fiat to Bitcoins, but I still need fiat to pay my bills.
4543  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Watch A NATO F-16 Buzz The Russian Defense Minister's Plane on: June 22, 2017, 09:58:01 AM
Wow I have just watched the video and couldn't understand how Russians left Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu vulnerable against a possible air attack? This is weird as hell.
His plane doesn't have a long range radar. They'd have to send something like that to follow him and warn of incoming planes.

If a supersonic jet comes at you and you're flying a big cow like the minister, you can only sit and watch. If that F-16 pilot wanted to shoot him down there would be no stopping him. Escort would probably shoot him down after the fact, but the minister's plane would be a fireball.
4544  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia faces shortage of PC graphics cards due to Cryptocurrency mining on: June 22, 2017, 09:50:21 AM
What is stopping them to buy thousands of graphic cards already in the market especially from China? I think Russians are lying just like when hash ocean told us that they are mining with GPU and because they buy from wholesale it will be profitable and other lame excuses Cheesy
I could open an online shop right now and order as many as GPUs I'd like and could afford to pay for and receive them after a week at my doorstep.
We're living in a modern age, we have internet now you couldn't possibly fall for this propaganda made up to show that coins like ETH and other coins which we could mine using GPU are very good and profitable.
Correct. They may have shortages locally, but there's always import.
Chinese stores are offering cheap shipment to Russia and it takes maybe 5 days for a product to reach you. Also their prices are sometimes much lower than retail. If you're determined to buy hardware there's no stopping you. Also, like you said, there's so much used hardware on the market, but miners are afraid of buying those because they're planning to stress their cards and need long warranty.
4545  Economy / Economics / Re: The legalization of bitcoin. on: June 22, 2017, 09:45:27 AM
I'm having a hard time trying to understand why anyone would want a country with bitcoin as the main form of currency. As a really volatile coin, prices would raise and fall almost daily, as globalization made almost every single product international. Living in the island would be a really terrible experience, or just plainly impossible. It would make bitcoin a "real" currency... But that would change nothing on how things work today. It's a bad idea, in general.
Actually the more people are using it the less volatile it becomes. More distribution = more stabilization. If a country started using it as a main currency, there would be 20 million people using it on a daily basis. That's 20 million more users who have to turn their savings into Bitcoin.
We'd have a sharp increase in price, a lot of new users that will receive their wages in Bitcoin, more stability in the market as new people won't be playing, they will be using it to buy stuff, which means they won't be dumping or reacting to dumps, as there will be nothing to dump into with no national fiat currency.
4546  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can anyone explain to me what is faucet farming exactly? on: June 22, 2017, 09:28:34 AM
Thanks for the clarification guys! I just have one more doubt.
Suppose I have two accounts and use one account to claim faucet, gamble and transfer it back to first account, does it also come under faucet farming or not? I think it does but just to be sure, I'm asking... Thanks in advance people
It's not farming because as a user you have the right to a single claim, and that's what you're doing, just not with the account that you use to play.
Why are you doing it though? You're not gaining anything by claiming a faucet with an alt and also risking a ban.
4547  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Putin-Backed Russian Priest Says Beards Protect Men from Being Gay on: June 20, 2017, 09:50:34 PM
Last time I checked Putin had no beard Grin
On the other hand does that mean the longer the beard the more scared you are? If it's like a talisman, those with long beards must feel very threatened, maybe even on edge. That priest's beard is quite long  Lips sealed
4548  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New to mining, need advice before spending $$$ on: June 20, 2017, 09:45:58 PM
So, if I was to purchase a few s9's and run them day and night It wouldn't be worth it?  I'm confused.  I am also in the financial part as well but would like to add to it if profitable.
If you take Philip's estimation, you're looking at 2 years of mining ROI, but that is with power cost. If you have panels it's a different story, because after those 2 years the panels will still be operating, so you have to take that $126 a month in power, multiply by 24 and subtract from the cost of the panels that you'll need to run a miner and you'll know how much of the cost of panels will the S9s cover in 2 years, while they are reaching ROI themselves.
4549  Other / Meta / Re: BAN ALL SIG CAMPAIGNS on: June 20, 2017, 09:24:23 PM
It's funny how everyone here that's suggesting to ban signature campaigns are all enrolled in them.

Because we all love money obviously. What else do you think we are posting here for? Chit chat?  Grin I wonder what will happen when the business for the more industrialized posters dries up. World famine and mass exodus from the forum?

Many people were posting here before the era of signatures begun and are still posting (some of them with sigs), why shouldn't they?
If you're doing something anyway and someone offers to pay you for that you'd be stupid not to agree. Campaigns won't be banned because people are free to pay for advertising and free to advertise. This forum is all about freedoms and choices, if you don't like sigs you can disable them, report spamming users, or leave the forum and move to reddit.
4550  Economy / Economics / Re: Coin market caps vs. National GDPs on: June 20, 2017, 08:17:24 PM
A staggeringly meaningless comparison.

Watch what happens to any crypto market cap if more than a fraction of a per cent of holders decide it's time to cash in. The 'real' figures are probably 1/100th or less.
And what will happen to Ukraine's GDP and currency if Russia decides it's time to annex more than just Crimea?
We can speculate like that, but ultimately all fiat is vulnerable not only to manipulation and local disturbances and natural disasters, but also to war.
In a wartime prices of land and properties fall and prices of gold and silver go up. Bitcoin could and probably will act like gold in such case.
4551  Economy / Economics / Re: Does the Price of Bitcoin Matter? on: June 20, 2017, 08:11:30 PM
It depends. If you're trading it surely matters, because you're frequently converting, so you have to consider both prices, whatever it is that you're trading for (fiat, another altcoin). If you're holding and aren't interested in conversion, the price still matters to you, because value in fiat is the value in products and services and that''s your ultimate goal, to convert Bitcoin into products and services and make your life more comfortable.
4552  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin implants? on: June 20, 2017, 08:03:31 PM
I feel that the main human problem in the future is the uncontrolled population, no more land for aquaculture, and even for economic equities, in this case implanted chips in human body are needed to control the movement and human populations, this sounds creepy, but this an effective way to become a Solution and future effectiveness. Bitcoin is the solution for the economy because natural resources for the production of paper money/metal coins are extinct, technology is the last human hope.
This is an unreasonable fear spread by some crazies, probably those weirdos from greenpeace.
Do you know how much land is currently uninhabited? I'm not talking about land with extreme conditions like the Arctic Circle, but normal land that can be used for farming.
The answer is a lot, more than we need and more than we will need in another 100 years of growing. If somebody decided to grow food in the uninhabited parts of Russia, he'd be able to feed whole Europe for centuries to come. We're not facing overpopulation problems, just some areas are becoming crowded.
4553  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Need to start mining (MASSIVE BUDGET) on: June 19, 2017, 07:58:03 PM
The main problem that I see is you have no idea how mining works and how rigs are assembled and operate. In your case I'd recommend hiring an experienced miner, even one that does it as a hobby, to prepare everything for you.
You need to make calculations and decide if it's profitable in your area, get a secure location with stable power and internet and buy hardware. You'll also need someone to monitor the rigs and be there to check if anything stops working or starts to overheat.
4554  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Safe to buy accounts here? on: June 19, 2017, 07:31:25 PM
Don't buy accounts. It's not only easy to get scammed, even if you use an escrow.
What if you buy an account and the seller reports you to a trusted user and that person leaves you a negative?
What if the seller scammed someone, but that person hasn't come forth yet?

It's much better to make a new account and gradually build your reputation.
4555  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buy BTC at one exchange, sell it more expensive at another? on: June 19, 2017, 07:27:03 PM
It used to be much easier back when the transactions were confirming in 15 min and fees were at half of today's prices. I've been doing it from time to time, but I don't recommend sending from one exchange to another because it might be hard to prove you own the sending address in case your balance doesn't get updated. This means you have to send from exchange 1 to your wallet and to exchange 2, which is going to take about an hour and cost you a few $.
4556  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Genesis Mining on: June 19, 2017, 07:21:27 PM
Lets see mate, I invested $50 3 month ago in DASH mining, I have received 0.001 every day not to mention the days without any payment.

I made barely 0.1 DASH which is how much exactly now? so 3 month they took $50 from me and I haven't even earned back my fucking money.

I practically donated them some cash.
And it's all your fault. If you spent as little as 10min reading threads about them you wouldn't have paid anything for their falsely advertised services.
There's so much written about them here. Some opinions are positive, but most are not. If people really cared about their money nobody would buy cloud mining contracts and there would be no need for threads like this one.
4557  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Africa should be nuked, all evil originated there on: June 19, 2017, 07:07:58 PM
All evil has originated in Africa, let's start cleaning up the planet.

But but but.. the animals. You would really wipe out the zebras and giraffes? What did they ever do to anyone?

I'm all for genocide but at the cost of all that wildlife it isn't worth it.

Maybe use biological warfare instead of nukes. That would be much better. AND the animals get some food as well.

I heard there were experiments in order to create a virus that targets certain genes and attacks only if it finds them. This means you can program it to kill only black people or only men... The main problem is containing it to an area, so that it doesn't travel back to you Wink

Watch out, agencies are watching us here. If you ever commit a crime they will use this post in court to prove that you're a sociopath Grin
4558  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Finsbury Park attack:one dead in 'potential terrorist attack' near London mosque on: June 19, 2017, 07:02:40 PM
People are hitting back. Muslims think they're going to keep attacking people with no response. That could have worked when they were living in their third world countries and coming to Europe just to blow themselves up, but now their families are here and can be targeted. Unfortunately terrorism is not the best way of fighting these fanatics, we should be better than this and fight them openly by deporting them and banning their extremism.
4559  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-03-23]Who's Buying Bitcoin? Demand Persists Amid Fork Fears on: June 18, 2017, 09:14:13 PM
What fork fears? We are still far from accepting any network upgrade and if it comes nothing bad will happen. We'll have an upgrade that many altcoins already had and went through. After a fork you don't lose any money, you get your money in both chains and both will have value. Once people decide one of them is better and worth pursuing that one will gain value while the other may start losing it. May meaning that both chains can be gaining value if people decide so.
4560  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How do you feel about the death penalty? on: June 18, 2017, 09:02:55 PM
Death penalty shouldnt exist, every human has the right to live. every soul.
What about the humans that live to kill others? If you let them run loose they'll start raping and killing children, maybe your children. If you put them in jail they'll look for an opportunity to kill other inmates or guards. Such rabid dogs should be put down.
I respect your opinion and am generally against death penalty, but serial killers and especially serial child killers should isolated from society completely. The best idea would be to drill a hole in the rock, 50m deep with polished walls, so that they can't dig and climb, and throw them all in there. If they kill each other then so be it, but it's much cheaper to just kill them.
