4541  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: March 26, 2020, 01:05:49 PM
Looks like Bundesliga will get suspended at least until April 30th. There are 9 rounds left to be played, plus the relegation matches and the cup matches. Next season is set to start July 31st for 2. Bundesliga and August 21st for Bundesliga. Counting from May on, this is 15 weeks until the new season starts for 2. Bundesliga. The players should be well rested, so no problem with playing double fixture weeks until the end of the season.

For 2. Bundesliga the regular season could be finished by the end of May then. There are no teams left in cup matches from this league, so each team has two months of preparation until the new season starts (apart from the team that plays relegation to Bundesliga).

For Bundesliga, it's a little bit more difficult, since you have the cup matches and EL/CL, but the new season starts 3 weeks later. So this should be fine as well; all competitions should be finished by middle/end of June.

If, which is quite possible, suspension is extended for more weeks, there is still the possibility to postpone the start of next season into September/October and get rid of the winter break, which will save another 4 weeks.

And if nothing helps, I could think of a 17-round-season for 2020/2021, which will start end of the year then.

April 30th is the optimistic scenario. But see what is going on in Europe.
Spanish pandemic is now rampant. La Liga was discussed to start in the end of April as well but I don't think that this is going to happen. Germany and Bundesliga are going to be another station of the virus and will possibly affect the restart of the league

All of those plans are too far, for now, when the epidemic in Germany and the pandemic on the globle have still been very seriously.

All of those solutions are only potential ones and they totally depends on how the epidemic in Germany will go next weeks. The massive testing campaign in Germany help to temporarily reduce the CFR (case fatality ratio) at the nation, like what we see in South Korea but over time the total number of death tolls will increase. The lower CFR figure (compares to figures of Italy or Spain) makes us feel Germany is safer than the rest nations in Europe but it might be wrong. I have a belief that the epidemic in Germany will end sooner and that will help both Bundesliga and 2 (even months). Bundesliga to finish the season with a little delay. Nevertheless, I am not sure about the severity of death toll at the end in the nation.

I am pretty sure, we will see Bundesliga come May again, but behind closed doors. There are more and more people demanding to relax the curfew and at some point authorities have to give in. Some Bundesliga teams train again in small groups and the infected german players are healed. These are all young people (some coaches/staff are older) and younger people will be allowed to go out again after Easter.

Only scenarios, where I don't see Bundesliga starting in May again are a) if the situation in Germany gets really bad or b) if the situation in China worsens again after they are slowly re-starting their economy (which is happening right now).

There’re so many scenarios listed out here and no one here knows which will pan out, but I’m sincerely hoping that this virus disappears for good and we can complete this season. Also It’ll be horrible if this season is declared null and void, because in my personal opinion it was by far one of the most entertaining season I have seen in the German league and I strongly felt that Bayern would loose the title.
4542  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk has been blocked in Russia because of Gambling advertisement on: March 26, 2020, 09:23:03 AM

strange that they block a crypto forum all because there were gambling ads. they could just bann the gambling sites since online gambling is illegal to them. a message could be banning cryptocurrency  Grin

Indeed. I think that the ads is not the reason why the blacklisted the forum.
In the end, they could just block the cryptocurrency ads not banning the whole forum.
Cryptocurrencies are what they do not want...

Banning the forum is not a good decision by them. I know there are many Russians here on the forum. They will not be liking this decision. I am sure you can still access the forum through VPN if you are in Russia. Anyone who is in Russia can tell us the exact situation.

This really affected a lot of users since gambling is in demand for several betting sites. Russian residents is the huge part of gambling industry whether it's physical or virtual type. Accessing through vpn can be inefficient at all, because the security of the country is very strict and they're aware that through this kind of portal called to be illegal access due to certain restrictions.

This is shocking and surprising at the same time because I have never seen a forum getting banned because of advertisements, and in coming days I believe that we shall find more information about it. Though VPN is always an option but I feel VPN users can be traced, hence if anyone has any safe VPN recommendations which our Russian members can use kindly post those names below.

^^ I didn't heard any official statement so far but as of now India is in complete lockdown for 21 days so no one thinking about sport or cricket anymore. 99% chances are "No IPL" this year.
Lockdown for 21 days!
That's very hard for a nation with this large number of population. I can imagine the poor citizens who do not have enough to bring food in their mouth. Is your government doing anything for them? What is their plan for them?

By the way, welcome back.  No IPL will be boring lol

Still lockdown is better than a curfew. In lockdown essential services are still working. By the way if you have not heard in the history of Indian railways this is the first time that all passenger services have been cancelled.

It has been lockdown everywhere and not only in Asian countries, although I do believe that its much harder for the under developed country public to deal with the lockdown situation as compared to the developed world.
Never thought that there could be  time when there would be no cricket anywhere in the universe.

IPL is almost cancelled and BCCI is keeping the organisers money and earning interest on it, because once they start paying all the advertisers and ticket holders they’ll incur a huge loss. Also a summer without IPL will be really boring, and what makes it worst is Ms Dhoni India's former captain wont get a final goodbye in IPL too.

4544  Other / Politics & Society / Trump’s decision to choose economy over people life’s will end badly for him? on: March 26, 2020, 04:40:56 AM
If you have seen my posts here then you’ll know that I’m an avid Trump supporter, and have been rooting for him to win a second term but now I feel that his decision to open US economy so soon will hurt his chances of winning the elections. Further I’m sympathetic to his beliefs too that US economy will completely crash if the lockdown persists for few months, but I just wished that he could have prioritise human life’s over profits. What are your thoughts on this will this decision backfire on Trump, and will this lead to his defeat in the upcoming US elections.

4546  Local / India / Re: India shutdown for next 21 days , opinion? on: March 24, 2020, 05:39:26 PM
So a few hours ago, our prime minister, Modi, has announced that due to Corona there will be a 21 days strict lockdown in all over the country. And those not following will be punished accordingly.

The country was leniently locked for few days and when I got out today outside for to buy an important stuff, a traffic police chased me and hit my elbow with his stick and I got into a verbal fight.

I think although the situation is really intense, this is just too much. Many poor people would just die off this if there's a strict lockdown even if government promises to supply resources as a country with such a big population is really very hard to feed with governments limited resources specially in rural areas.

What do you think of this and what alternate ways you might suggest..

@iamsheikhadil I woke up in the morning to read this news, and I’m not surprised as many news outlets were already saying it that he was going to be locking the country down today. However once again I’m disappointed in the way he’s announced it, as he could have at least given you people one or two days to store stuff before the country is in lockdown. Also I’m puzzled as to how a law officer can hit you, you should consider filing a police complaint against him.

4547  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Did gambling cause you to have difficulty in sleeping as a gambler? on: March 24, 2020, 01:39:44 PM
Just a few days ago, the government of my country made an announcement about stay at a home policy which made me get boredom. During these few days, I have been involved actively in gambling mainly on virtual sports betting which I have lost beyond my imagination.
I think most of the countries right now are applying a lockdown on the whole country because of the COVID-19 that is affecting all of us in the world. Hoping that this will end in the next months.

At first, I lost a whopping sum of #30,000 (NGN) in a local currency, I played some games and won with some good profits which I used to Carter for the family but went the next day to meet my Waterloo during which I lost the said amount.
I converted your currency into USD and that is around $81. Not a huge money for a regular US citizen but for you as a Nigerian, that is a huge amount already.

This has affected me and caused me a sleepless night because the said money wasn't for me but the entire family for upkeep during this trial moment. I am regretting my loss because the remaining members of the family aren't aware of this loss. This has not happened to me before now until this compulsory self quarantine from the government.
Before you gamble, you must think of this question. "If I will gamble this money and lost, will my family not be affected into it?".

You're suffering sleepless nights because of your own decisions and out of your boredom too. Now you've learned your lessons I think. What can you do right now?? Maybe stop gambling and focus on your family because what I see here is you can't take a huge loss. If you lose you become sleepless and it can affect you and your whole family too.

The best advice that I can give. DON'T GAMBLE AT ALL STARTING TODAY AND FOCUS ON YOUR FAMILY INSTEAD.

@LogitechMouse I have lost track of the number of countries that have been put in lockdown, but a lockdown is no excuse for reckless gambling especially if you haven’t gambled before. @Becky666 what you’re expecting is pretty normal for a new gambler, and with time you’ll get used to it however I would advise you to be careful in your initial days and avoid chasing your losses. Also one way to overcome this would be to make some kind of affirmations like: I forgive myself, and I allow myself to sleep peacefully at night hope it’ll help you.

4548  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: About Compulsive gambling. on: March 24, 2020, 09:43:00 AM
It is really not easy to get over the addiction of gambling. Gambling is something which really can make people an insane addict.

That is the extreme type of addicts. One end of the spectrum and not the complete spectrum. There are casual gamblers too how go to Vegas for a stroll and burning some cash at hand. But they dont expect to win and come back soon enough.

Quote

Gambling addiction needs a lot of interference of family in the life of a gambler along with proper medication. There are no ways that one can on his own get over the addiction.
In the extreme variety, it does need professional help but lets not make that as a general statement because it is not. Rather it follows a bell shaped curve where the maximum frequency is for those who are occasional players. They play for fun and at the most need the help of their close ones to stop them.

I have shared my story here before in one of the threads, and while I agree that I became seriously addicted to gambling I disagree with the fact that people like me can’t recover, because we very well can recover if we wish to recover and that’s how I recovered despite being a gambling addict.

Further @best dreams I once again disagree with your analysis that a gambler can’t recover on his own, because they can and I have personally seen people who have recovered because they felt the need to do so.

Lastly in my personal opinion I feel that what you’re saying maybe partially true, or you have very less experience of the gambling industry hence you’re being overly judgmental in the case of addicted gamblers.
4549  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 💰 Summer Tokyo 2020 💰 Discussion and bet thread 💰 Summer Game on: March 24, 2020, 07:10:27 AM
This is not an easy solution.
Your idea is valid but has many other problems, the best solution is to postpone it to the end of this year if possible if the climate of Japan permit it.
Why?
Because if the games will be postponed to 2021 we enter on other problems for some spots like athletics.
From 6 August to 15 August 2021 we will have in Eugine USA the Mondial.
So if they will postpone Tokyo's games then they will need to postpone Eugine's games and probably many others.
It is no an easy solution but the situation demands we need to have extra ordinary decisions as we are going through extreme situation like we never anticipated even in the wildest dreams and in that phase the only solution is to move all the tournaments at a future date and Olympics is a major extravaganza that happens only every 4 years and hence i am hoping they will not cancel rather extend the events at a later date.

There has been a major announcement by the IOC, and now they have decided to postpone the Olympics by a year which is sad news for the organisers but a welcome relief to all the participating countries. Also I acknowledge that postponing this event would have been a painful decision for them, but these are extraordinary times and this decision will help the sport as all countries will now be able to participate in the Olympics next year.

4550  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: March 24, 2020, 03:36:51 AM
The finals of the Uefa Champions League and Europa League are now officially postponed with no date.

This was obvious after the postpon of Euro now called 2021.

This was really an inevitable decision to happen and I was wondering why members here are assuming that since they postponed the Euros first it was because they want to give priority for both UCL and UEL which looking at it realistically isn't possible. Europe particularly in Italy, U.K., Spain, and France doesn't show signs of the infection slowing down and these four countries who have a lot of infections are the ones who are still part of the Champions league so without them recovering until now I don't see UEFA continuing their competition. Other than that we have seen reports of teams having players being infected with the COVID-19 some of them are even the star of the team like Dybala and I don't think Juventus will let the competition continue with their team being underpowered.

@Theb yea we all knew this was coming and I too wasn’t optimistic about the leagues resuming again anytime soon, but now we officially know that’s it’s not coming in April or May. In my personal opinion we won’t have the 2020 - 2021 season instead we will see the resumption of 2019 - 2020 season sometime later in the year and once all the leagues end then Euro 2021 will be played (*this is just my theory, not a official statement*).
4551  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Alvarez vs. Golovkin: The Trilogy we've all been waiting for! on: March 23, 2020, 05:31:47 PM
IMO, the only way Gennady Golovkin can defeat Caneolo Alvarez is through knockout. The jury is extremely biased, and they will never allow an UD against Alvarez. This has happened two times before. GGG won both the fights, but the biased judges refused to acknowledge that. My prediction is that this time GGG will knock out Alvarez, to avenge the humiliation he had last time. My only concern is his age.

Exactly, a knockout is the only way for Golokvin to win this upcoming fight. Judges seems afraid of Golden Boy Promotion's top honcho Oscar Dela Hoya  Grin. IMHO, he can offset the age factor by training very very hard just like what Manny Pacquiao did. GGG maybe not be on his prime anymore but this guy have Canelo's number and hope he can land that lucky punch that will put Canelo to sleep.

Yep, that's the only way that GGG can win. And it will be a fitting for him as we all know that he was robbed specially on the first fight. However, Canelo Alvarez has one of the toughest chin, it hasn't been cracked before, even by a Light heavyweight like Kovalev, although there is an argument that he is no longer on his prime when he fought Alvarez.

I think Canelo's Endurance is way better than Golokvin's. I watched Canelo's fight and most of his opponents are tired and chasing some oxygen while he is just in control and focused. He showed no mercy every time he fight inside the ring but I know Golokvin is very prepared and focused about Canelo's preparation and style. But I think that in a boxing match, each boxers are vulnerable to a lucky punch because it depends on the body movement of the target. This fight is based on how strong your chin are, if you aren't trained to resist a strike in a chin then you are going to be defeated in just one click. I believe that Canelo will win this fight, it is more likely to be a Unanimous Decision or KO, I guarantee you that Canelo Alvarez will be the winning corner here.

It’s difficult to see a knockout these days hence I don’t expect Golovkin to walk-in and knock out Canelo that easily, however if he fires on all cylinders right from the start then he can definitely win by knockout. @Latviand there’s no doubt about Canelo’s endurance, but considering how Golovkin is preparing himself for this match it’s getting more difficult for me to choose a clear winner.
4552  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: March 23, 2020, 01:39:10 PM
I reckon uncle Dana should cancel everything and organize all of the main events in 1 UFC event after the war versus the coronavirus is finished hehehe.
Dana White is adamant that he will not cancel UFC 249 and he even challenged the media regarding that, not sure what he is thinking and with the situation getting worse i highly doubt that the event will take place and the arena is changed for now and where they will be planning the fight is still a mystery, if Dana White is so adamant then he will move the entire event to UAE if the UAE government allows the fight to happen in their territory .

The fight will definitely get canceled and under no circumstances will the fighters fight too, as they’ll be concerned for their safety and their fans safety too. Furthermore the UAE government will never give them the permission to go ahead as this virus requires people to maintain social distancing, hence it’s only a matter of days before they make the announcement to cancel the fight.
4553  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Physically vs Gambling Online Using Crypto on: March 23, 2020, 09:41:47 AM
Gambling Physically is better than online gambling because on casino we can play many kind of game physically with real money but on online you can't do that. In casino we can meet to our friends. So, I think Gambling in Physically is good than online. But, In this time many casino is closed due to Coronavirus outbreak that's why we have to avoid crowded place. For this crises now we should play on online.
There shouldn't be any argument against online gambling is best right now because of the crisis of corona outbreak. But, there should be equal advantages and disadvantages with both gambling physically and gambling online using crypto. In my country the there is no possibility of gambling physical with crypto because all of gambling houses here are accepting only local fiats. But, the expenses in physical casino is almost three fold compared to online gambling.

If you want to gamble within a limited budget then you must choose online gambling. But online gambling will easily lead to addiction because of its easy availability whereas physical gambling will not be possible for everyone at the moment they think about playing gambling which could lead to less possibility of getting addicted to it.
That's why there are pros and cons in physical and online casino so it's up to the person whatever he/she chooses when would they like to play gambling. And about of the addiction topic, I think you can't just say that online casino is leading someone close to gambling addiction because it may vary from person to person not on who played online gambling.

Well, on the bright side this pandemic crisis is helpful to the people who are addicted already. They can't play gambling anymore since most casinos are closing already for a month. Although it is still dangerous if you get one of the symptoms so it's better to stay away from the crowded places.

This debate cannot have a fixed answer as some people will prefer online gambling only, and others will continue to prefer land based casinos but due to this virus now all will have to gamble online only. While people will gradually shift back to land based casinos once it opens, but online casinos have their advantages too like bet back, bonuses, rain, and you can even make friends online so do give it a try you’ll most likely fall in love with it.
4554  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What old coins are you still holding? on: March 23, 2020, 05:06:44 AM
I don't hold any old coins except bitcoin and ethereum. I think these two are the OGs of cryptocurrencies although I recognize some of the old but didn't get itself pumped because they're nearly dead or dead totally at all.

From earned the best coin was TEMTUM but I didn't get paid  for late KYC that's very weird case.
But Temtum isn't an old coin nor token.

@jossiel I yet hold Bitcoins, Litecoins and Ethereum only, as these three are solid coins which keep on giving good returns over a period of time. @hamukione in my personal opinion you should focus on these three coins, and besides these coins you can even consider ripple as that’s also a good coin to have in one’s portfolio.
4555  Other / Politics & Society / Re: World War V: Man against Virus on: March 23, 2020, 03:06:34 AM
It's not a war despite how a whole lot of people try and turn everything these days into a "war". Nor do I see any sort of coordinated effort. It's mostly been reactions to date as opposed to being out ahead of things. I would consider a coordinated effort having the entire scientific community world wide working together on this with some group overseeing the efforts to ensure there is no duplicated i.e. waster effort and splitting up the various efforts to complete things as quickly as possible. Do we see that? We hear practically squat about any of that which is how this will eventually be beaten. Everything else is just reaction and containment. In other words, all I see is a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off running around spreading panic and fear.

I agree with you there is no formal top-down control, more like a group of planes flying more or less in formation in about the same direction.

As for the panic and fear, there are those who consider playing those cards appropriate for the greater good. Example, agitators on the subject of climate change. Nothing new in that.

@Viper1 though this is not an official war but each and every country’s prime minister, or presidents are terming it as war to make their citizens understand the gravity of the situation, but they’re yet not uniting even in these times is ridiculous. @Spendulus panic and fear is normal these days as everyone wishes to live for as long as they can, however politicians are misusing it for their personal gains.

I'm wondering, how far estimations from the reality? Smiley
I think it is on spot for this given day, despite the fact that we don't know if the 34k won is extraordinary high/low or represents the daily average.
I dont know if windice includes chat rains/wagering contests/telegram giveaways/... in the amount won, if not those giveaways would lower the sites profit, too.

All in all we can't say if windice is profitable or not because we simply dont know anything about their costs (developers, infrastructure costs, taxes, ...) ...And I don't think Windice will show us this numbers Wink

I agree, I should  not have called it "profit" because they have a lot of expenses, such as paying their great mods, for example. Smiley

Also, that number, reflecting the USD won during the last 24 hours, varies greatly from one day to another. For example, today it is more than 2 times greater than yesterday:

So, it was a very rough estimation, but I hope their business is good, especially considering today's numbers. Smiley

In my personal opinion Windice has been doing great business, and while I do know there’s not much official record of their profits but the very fact that they’re able to pay their users on time says it all that they’re doing well for themselves. Furthermore if anyone needs more proofs look at the number of bets played out there, it has only substantially increased and that would not have been possible had they not been making good money from their business.

With an average fluctuation / day of $1240 per BTC , ( 1240 = volatility for the last 10 days ). It will be a rather risky affair to predict the value 10 days ahead . ~

It's 8 days ahead, actually, but I agree that with the current volatility it's going to be pretty hard to make a right prediction. On the other hand, the are good chances of winning 20x of your bet and above.

Look at this range, for example:

I wouldn't say it is that unlikely for BTC to end up in this range by the 1st of April.

@merc1969 indeed due to this virus the prices can take a hit anytime, or if the news come that cases are going down globally then prices may suddenly shoot up too hence it’s impossible to predict the correct levels at the month end. @Betwrong while I’m optimistic about bitcoin prices, but don’t you think that $11500 - $12000 is bit unrealistic even for bitcoins?.

Ex Real Madrid President succumbs to Coronavirus COVID19  Cry
Lorenzo Sanz was Real president from 1995 to 2000, during which time the Madrid giants won Champions League twice
Source: https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11835/11961683/lorenzo-sanz-coronavirus-claims-life-of-former-real-madrid-president

The Virus started out jokingly but right now it's bringing a lot of gloom to the football world
It is very risky for him because his age is under the attack target of the virus. I hope he will recover well.

Relates to Real Madrid, it makes me shock to know Luka Jovic broke the isolation rule in order to join his girlfriend's birthday. I hope all football players who have been under isolation period will obey all rules, in order to help them staying safe in the pandemic as well as help communities around them.

Well he should be more cooperative about this kind of thing because it is dangerous to around him if it violates the rules of isolation if it's already like this then it is not impossible that it will spread faster to other players who will become infected with corona.

It seems like almost all of the European leagues and players have been hit by co-19 so I think this should be a joint opponent to eradicate the corona virus.

This is really sad news though I didn’t see Real Madrid matches back then, but the very fact that they won champions league twice proves that he was a great president for the club. Further the club should heavily fine Luka for breaking the quarantine rule, as social distancing is a must to stop this virus from spreading ahead.

Paulo Dybala is also positive with his girlfriend to coronavirus.

Damn lot of good players from Juventus are getting infected Cry, First Rugani, then Blaise Matuidi and now their star player Paulo Dybala. Hope he comes out of it soon.

since a percentage of the Italian population has been infected by the virus it is logical that many players have also been infected, the strange thing and that they are all without symptoms, in your opinion they will all accept the reduction of 30% of their engagements to help their clubs ? ...

That's what the virus is. Person infected will have 1-14 days of fever or will become sick. After that, they would start showing symptoms. In players case I would say only mild fever or symptoms would occur. Only ones who are getting in worst situation are old people or who are already with some disease.

@Avirunes he’ll be all right as most of the patients who have got it are experiencing mild fever and cough only, and those who have lost their life’s were also suffering from hyper tension, diabetes and high blood pressure, and I believe this all also could be a cause for their death but the media is refusing to focus on that. Also it’s pertinent to note that more people are recovering than they’re dying, so let’s take a moment to pray for those who’re infected and I hope they come out stronger out of this.
