4581  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Mjesečna Analiza za Hrvatsku Lokalnu Zajednicu (Bitcointalk Croatian) on: May 16, 2021, 04:56:19 PM

Lista aktivnih clanova u periodu 1.4-30.4

4582  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: May 16, 2021, 04:49:41 PM

4584  Economy / Reputation / Re: Marlboroza.....!!!! on: May 16, 2021, 08:59:23 AM
From the conversations with @marlboroza on our local board some time ago (iirc beginning of the year), I got the impression that he simply doesn't want to force his activity on the forum if he doesn't have anything to add or is too bored at the moment, and that's been going on for months now.

That is a perfectly normal behavior on any other forum, which is somewhat different here as members are paid to post, so we often force ourselves to write even though we don't have anything new to add that hasn't been said few times already in the same topic.
4585  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bounty Campaign Manager needs to be evaluated and force to pay Hunters. on: May 15, 2021, 08:06:08 PM
Please direct me on what to do so that I wouldn't fall a victim next time. A lot of people are really suffering for this. I have experience this several time. So what's the functions of the escrow, where do I get it and how to use it. Direct me
It's not your job to find escrow, but to only join bounty campaign whose funds are escrowed, meaning that tokens/coins/whatever are held by trusted 3rd party (so neither altcoin project or bounty manager) and that way payment is secured. But having bounty funds escrowed is not foolproof either as there were cases where altcoin projects simply issued new ones, making escrowed altcoins worthless.

Thing is, campaigns like that are extremely rare, and that would probably mean you would join few at best in a whole year, so an average bounty hunter ends up joining almost anything, hoping that it won't get screwed but more often than not it ends up like in your case.
4586  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM ALERT] Solstarter Fake public sale - There are lots of mock sites to avoid on: May 15, 2021, 03:10:33 PM
Maybe, because when I have started posting threads here they already have a lot of ETH and USDT in them, I don't know where the source of this money is whether from victims or others.
From time to time, scammers send some ETH/BTC to their own wallets, just so addresses appear more legit at the beginning if anyone decides to check, but I doubt that's the case here. When you follow ETH leaving some of the addresses you shared, it's intereting to notice how some are very careful and are using Tornado Cash to hide the trail, while others are sending ETH to that scammy HitBTC exchange,

By the way, from where exactly you got that first address with that currently has more than 70 ETH? I just checked those fake Solstarter websites that you shared and didn't see that address on any of them. Are you sure that address is connected to them?

Now IDOs are increasingly targeted by investors because every IDO who is selected on the whitelist is only a few to be able to join the public sale and this is where the greed of scamers starts..
Yep, there is a huge amount of interest in IDOs at the moment as altcoin projects completely changed their M.O compared to ICO boom in 2017. Back then they were basically allowing everyone to join ICO, getting tens of millions of dollars that way casing the price to dump almost immediately. They got smarter now; they set very limited amount of tokens up for public sale (usually few hundreds of thousands of dollars) and then profiting once token gets listed since price goes x100+.

4588  Economy / Economics / Re: Binance under investigation on: May 15, 2021, 09:40:38 AM
Same old same old, there is always some investigation going on, whether its Bitfinex/Tether, now Binance etc.

I think that this ongoing Binance investigation will lead to a dead end, as many other similar before and nothing significant will happen. But even if it does, I don't thik that it would affect Bitcoin much and even if it did, it would be just temporary. On the other hand, shitcoins like that SHIBA you mentioned (and many others) that are listed there would definitely tale some serious beating.

4589  Other / Meta / Re: Moderator - Informal Plagiarist on: May 15, 2021, 09:07:24 AM
Do you understand what you said? He publishes 25 such posts a week, completely copied from news sites, adding one or two small quotes and adding a link in the hope that this content will not be considered plagiarism.
Whether we like it or not, current forum stance is that as long as you share source link you can copy/paste as much as you want, even word for word and you won't  fall under plagiarism rule.

With that being said, I do think that this is a bad practice and that senior forum members should know better and format copied text properly so that the difference between own words and copied material is noticed immediately. The way it is formatted in the example you shared is indeed misleading and sets bad example for others, especially new members who might think that this is a proper way to deal with copied content.

4590  Other / Meta / Re: Forum going slow? on: May 15, 2021, 07:13:19 AM

4591  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM ALERT] Solstarter Fake public sale - There are lots of mock sites to avoid on: May 15, 2021, 07:08:23 AM
I am not surprised to see fake Solstarter sale websites as there is a lot of hype going on around Solana, and people saw what happened with Polkastarter price (x200+ ROI) so people are expecting the same. Naturally, scammers saw that as an  opportunity for easy money, as always.

Have they stolen a lot of money already? Or your post was just in time to warn others about this scam sale. Looking at their website, it did look legitimate at first glance but the devil's in the details and you can see that it is a fake sale, I hope that no one has been victimized by these scammers, they are getting craftier each day.
Looking at those addresses that @OP shared, more than 100 ETH was sent that way so far, and new ETH keeps coming as we speak. Absolute champion is the first address mentioned ( 0x66f2B5fd4d0779Cb2e72035b61ab49A202Eee9A7) with more than 70 ETH received so far, in only two days! This is serious amount of money scammed via such a rudimentary scamming technique. Scammers don't even have to work hard, all they need is people's greed and naivety  and that's about it.

Grin

4593  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tesla destroys bitcoin :-[ on: May 13, 2021, 06:14:43 AM
Tesla destroys Bitcoin? Lol what a clickbait title! It's just Elon Musk talking shit as always and market overreacting, as always. So I would say, just another crypto day. Or to sum it up with the meme

4594  Economy / Economics / Re: 3.9million users took part in the Elon Musk poll; What will be Tesla's decision? on: May 12, 2021, 05:13:35 PM
First of all, I am not a conspiracy theorist. But Elon Musk's recent behavior is very suspicious. Previously I would have considered such tweets as pure trolling. But nowadays, the intention is suspicious. Especially his tweet, which came at a time when Dogecoin price was down by 40%. I have to admit that I don't have any proof for any sort of manipulation being done by Elon. But right now a lot of madness is going on with this shitcoin. Maybe I was not logical or rational. But let's wait for a few more weeks and see what happens to Doge.
Elon is indeed manipulating the price of Doge, but I think that he is doing that out of boredom and for some shits and giggles, and not because he wants to help some Dogecoin whales.

You have to ask yourself why would richest man on earth help some Dogecoin whales, when he can make some meme shitcoin himself and probably make hundreds of millions that way, if he wants.

He is simply having a field day with Doge and is probably amused how his single tweet can affect price so much.
4595  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What are apps you used when it comes to see the value for BTC and others? on: May 12, 2021, 12:50:26 PM
When it comes to apps on mobile phone, I used  Blockfolio and Delta, but few years ago I removed them from my phone completely. My problem was that I was checking prices xyz timer per day (like many others I think) but I wasn't actively trading or anything like that, just passively watching. Since it's kinda counterproductive to look at prices if you won't really do anything about it (it especially wasn't fun during bear market) I just removed them and never looked back. It was hard at the beginning, but now I am at the point that I don't really care about daily price movement.

Regarding the websites, I prefer Coingecko over CMC when checking something out, even though I don't use that either on the regular basis.
4596  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Creating a successful token on: May 12, 2021, 05:22:27 AM
99.99 % (I'm being optimistic here) of the tokens are made solely for the purpose of making its creators rich, without any real need or utility whatsoever. There are some odd cases where creators want to get rich (nothing wrong with that afterall) but token and the whole idea actually has some sense and use case.

Regarding your question about successful token (at least in the short term) recipe is pretty simple, just focus on whatever is currently popular (DeFi, NFT, meme coins) and shill it like there's no tomorrow.

4597  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: May 11, 2021, 08:36:50 PM
If we take into account the cases with the deletion of old posts, then I have a question, why take into account old posts and topics when it comes to the number of posts for a specific fresh month. Your statistics do not reflect monthly activity, they simply calculate the average between what was and what is. And shows the result. If the moderators try, then I will not be surprised that we can see in your statistics something like: 100 posts per month were published in the Russian locale.
Even though I already explained why I prefer Merit Dashboard when making these charts, here it is again. And yeah, that's why I sometimes mention that numbers might be affected by the deleted posts, like I did in the last overview when I said exactly that for Russian board.

I had the same dilemma few months ago when I started using ninjastic space and I also noticed the difference in numbers compared to merit dashboard. Thing with ninjastic.space (that I didn't know but DdmrDdmr explained it to me) is that is also counting all those posts that were for some reason deleted from the board, and that's why number is usually inflated compared to numbers found in merit dashboard. For example, if you had some spammer who wrote 20 posts in Indonesian board during March, and his account got nuked and all posts deleted, his posts will still be counted even though they are not there anymore.

With that being said, numbers on merit dashboard can also be wrong in case that mod deletes/moves threads around, but I decided to stick to merit dashboard numbers in the end as it doesn't seem right to count spam posts that have been deleted for days or even weeks.

So, in the end neither Merit Dashboard and ninjastic.space are 100% correct, and some weird results will happen, but I decided to stick with the former when making those charts as I prefer occasional odd results due high amount of deleted posts over inflated numbers. To get clearer picture of board activity, best is to use both of them.

I will start using ninjastic.space  (which is an awesome tool ) for the post chart when/if deleted posts get excluded from the count. As simple as that.

4598  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: May 11, 2021, 08:11:25 PM
That is, you want to say that the moderators suddenly began to delete half of what is published there? The difference in calculations is 3-8 times different.
As I said before, topics moved/deleted don't have to be new ones to affect post count difference, inactive old topic from few years ago that got moved will affect numbers. My assumption that such a big difference is probably caused by mods work is based upon previous experience in similar situations.

Year ago, while working on one of these overviews, I noticed that Arabic board ended up month in negative of ~200 posts. Since i was relatively new to Merit Dashboard and didn't really know how it works but kinda wanted to figure out what happened there, I contacted one of their active members asking can he maybe explain the situation. He contacted their mod who eventually contacted me, explaining that he indeed did some cleaning and moved/deleted some topics, causing this anomaly. Similar thing happened to Croatian board 6 months ago when we got few new child boards so bunch of topics were moved around and  merit dashboard showed us having 1/3 of the posts that were actually written during that period.

If you really want get to the bottom of this, I suggest that you ask your mods about it, and if they really confirm that they haven't moved anything around, that would leave us with some glitch affecting Russian local board numbers.

4599  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: May 11, 2021, 09:25:37 AM
There are no large new topics in this section for a long time, this is the smallest section of the locale. A moderator will never delete a huge thread. It will either be transferred to another section of the locale or taken to the Archives. There are no major topics from this section in the archive, which means that all topics are in place.
Topic deleted/removed doesn't have to be new one in order to affect monthly post count in Merit Dashboard. Let' say that you wrote 300 new posts in "Oбcyждeниe Bitcoin" during April 2021, but in the same time some old topic got removed/deleted which had 3300 posts, meaning that total difference will be -3000, and will affect numbers significantly. These things happen with pretty much every board occasionally, and with Russian board for the last couple of months.

And if you look at the diagram for counting the number of posts that I made, you can see that the counting algorithm broke about six months ago and began to show incorrect data for the Russian locale:
Yep, from November 2020 and up until now Russian board numbers went down, but I don't think that its due broken algorithm, but deleted topics/posts. Best is probably to ask your local mods what is going on, did they delete or move some stuff around.

And I wouldn't have focused on it if this broken data wasn't misleading. Because of this data, discussions about the death of the locale began to take place in my locale, and people began to speculate about what caused such a sharp drop in activity among posters. But in fact, there is no sharp decline and there was not. Just crooked counting algorithms that sowed the panic. Undecided
Yeah I am aware of the fact that people don't look in depth what is going on but rather just look at the chart and immediately draw conclusions. I try to mention in every monthly overview that they should check a bit more thorough to get the clear picture of the real situation, as this is more intended to be a brief overview, and not too detailed one, as I want to keep it simple in order to not bore people too much.

I don't know if anyone is doing that in Russian local board, but it wouldn't be a bad idea if someone makes detailed monthly overview of your board, like I am doing for mine, and some others for theirs. Great example of detailed overview is  this one made by @fillippone for Italian local board. It might help clear the situation and calm people down.

4600  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: May 11, 2021, 12:50:51 AM
Lol, what? Rikafip, by what data did you get this number of 1787 posts in the ru-locale for a month?
If you read my post carefully, you would notice that source of my data is @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboard. Its literally the 2nd sentence of the post, right there at the top.

I am perfectly aware of the differences between numbers shown in Merit Dashboard and ninjastic.space and I talked about it before in this topic. Those two tools have 2 different ways to calculate post count; Merit Dashboard takes into account difference in post numbers, while ninjastic.space counts all posts written, and in total amount includes even posts that are not there anymore and were deleted, so that tool can also be misleading.

Hi rikafip, the number of Indonesian local board post recorded on the merit dashboard is less than that recorded on ninjastic.space. I would like to know which one is more accurate to display on the chart ?
If the data in the merit dashboard is more accurate than ninjastic.space then I'll update my thread with data that might appear to be in sync with your thread.
I had the same dilemma few months ago when I started using ninjastic space and I also noticed the difference in numbers compared to merit dashboard. Thing with ninjastic.space (that I didn't know but Ddmr Ddmr explained it to me) is that is also counting all those posts that were for some reason deleted from the board, and that's why number is usually inflated compared to numbers found in merit dashboard.

Now, as I mentioned that in my post (and many times before in this topic), post number shown in Merit Dashboard is heavily affected when there is some big clean up by local mods, like it was case in Russian board for the last couple of months. As seen in Merit Dashboard, in the board called "Oбcyждeниe Bitcoin" there was negative difference of 3094 posts, meaning one of your mods probably deleted whole topics, that lead to this huge difference, and skewed numbers. And I even mentioned that in the post you quoted, as seen below

I must say that it is surprise to see Russian board with such a low numbers. I did notice that they had huge amount of posts deleted  last month, so part of the reason for their low numbers is probably that
