4581  Other / Meta / Re: Ponzi schemes & Investor Based Games on: May 21, 2021, 08:15:09 AM
Let me make it very clear, I am strictly against these schemes but if the admin has decided that there is space for Ponzi schemes, do we as members leaving trust on them is valid? Maybe we can rather make a topic inside the section that clarifies there is a certain risk involved in these Ponzis.
I asked myself the very same questions some time ago; from what's the purpose of having such board to why even bother to tag them in the first place since that board is made specifically for that reason.

Then again, the member who promotes  ponzi on Investor-based games child board might try to conduct the business in some other parts of the forum, so I think that other forum members should be aware of that, therefore tag & flag is warranted.

Being caring is good but we should not act like we kids are playing in the forum. Everyone who has BTC probably has some brain and is above 15 at least and if gambling is accessible for them, so should be Ponzis and risks that come with it.
I do not trust anyone who promotes ponzi scheme, as simple as that. And how else to express untrustworthiness other than leaving feedback? After all, that's what trust system is for.
4582  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] Burst.Money project, scamming bounty manager and participants. on: May 20, 2021, 01:21:07 PM
Makes sense but you know earlier we had a lot of ponzi signature campaigns and the way we get rid off them was through sheer discipline. No manager would just work for such campaigns and similarly we need to build a culture where no manager would work without escrow. It will take some time but eventually things will be better.
Even if by some miracle you get consensus from all bounty managers (or at least reputable ones) not to accept bounty campaigns if funds are not escrowed, project owners could simply circumvent that by hosting bounty campaign by themselves, so I don't think that there is an easy solution to all that due nature of altcoin bounty campaigns. The only way that can be done if forum itself get involved in regulating that, but I doubt that will ever happen since even outright scam are not moderated here.

What baffles me more than anything ( even more than the fact that bounty hunters keep getting into those altcoin campaigns while chances of them working for free are pretty high) is that these altcoin campaigns are still a thing here. I mean, bounty hunters follow each other on social media platforms, articles they write are copy/paste material from whitepaper so what is their actual reach among potential investors?

Hi guys!

We have several open slots. We are ready to accept from 1 to 3 participants.

4585  Economy / Reputation / Re: Why all these fake conversations? on: May 19, 2021, 08:39:14 AM
They also get away rather easily, no one dares to report a post made by someone of high rank for some reason while everyone is read to bash the newbies. We need to be rational if even speaking against a big name or person or even rank.
Since only forum mods can see how reported who, I see no reason not to report post made by some high ranking member in case of  shitpost/offtopic/whatever. I did my share of such reports, and in most cases mods deleted/moved not just posts, but the whole topics.

According to me we need to start using the ignore button more often and we're good. With the requirement of merits there are not many new members who can spam the forum so if you once take a day and ignore all the spammers, I think you are good.
Agree on this, ignore button is seriously underused here, but that's not just specific for bitcointalk, but on the many other forums as well. People simply like to argue, write nonsense and respond to trolling, no matter whether they are paid for such posts or not. On this forum they do that (especially repeating what's been said before) a bit more than on the others, but what 20 years of forum activity taught me is that its just how it goes on these discussion platforms.
4586  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] Burst.Money project, scamming bounty manager and participants. on: May 19, 2021, 08:27:13 AM
I think you need to be more responsible because the real loser here are the bounty hunters. Please take tokens from them in advance next time because unless the tokens are escrowed, this can happen at anytime.
Thing is, even if @CryptopreneurBrainboss insisted on getting tokens escrowed, it probably wouldn't change the outcome; owners of that project would simply find some other bounty manager who wouldn't ask for escrow, and would probably done the job much worse than @CryptopreneurBrainboss. So in the end, bounty hunters would get screwed too. But even if tokens are escrowed, there are still ways to screw bounty hunters, like issuing new ones making old ones completely worthless.  It is true though that manager would protect himself in this case, if he insisted on getting tokens escrowed.

As others have said before me, that's simply a risk of being a bounty hunter, and it's up to them to decide whether or not to join non escrowed bounty campaign.
4587  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everything you wanted to know about Grayscale BTC Trust but were afraid to ask! on: May 18, 2021, 08:56:20 PM
Grayscale is still actively buying Stellar (XLM) for the last day, 79957 XLM was purchased for the month, the company has already bought 414568 XLM, there are no savings for other crypto assets, only sales

Getting more and more involved in shitcoins is truly going to help Grayscale, right?

Decent amount of shitcoins there, but ETC at the 3rd spot really sticks out like a sore thumb (not that BCH at 5th is much better). Isn't that like a half dead project, with nothing really going on and on top of of that they had several successful 51% attack in the last few years?

Whats the catch, as I just can't wrap my head around it.
4588  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Looking for bitcointalk account on: May 18, 2021, 04:34:33 PM
In case you didn't know, account buying/selling is highly discouraged practice here on the forum which will end up with you getting tagged, and probably even scammed by fake account seller.

I would advise you to rethink all this, and in case you want to remove some newbie restrictions like being able to post images, get Copper membership instead.
4589  Other / Meta / Re: What Would Be Your Reason to Leave Bitcointalk? on: May 18, 2021, 04:12:01 PM
Anyway, I'm pretty sure the people who voted for "Crypto has made me wealthy already. I have no reason to be here anymore." are in it for the money. Shocked
That looks like a logical answer, but doesn't necessarily have to be the case.

Let's say that you are just an average guy, working some job for an average salary, can't afford much and spending few hours a day browsing the forum, talking to others and while doing so, getting some pocket money via signature campaign. Then suddenly, through some dumb luck and meme shitcoins pumping, you end up having 10 million dollars. You may wanna travel around the world ( maybe not during this covid19 crap), start your own business etc. With money, you get the chance to do many things that you couldn't afford before and you only have so many hours in one day, meaning you will have to cut some things.
4590  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: May 18, 2021, 03:04:21 PM
I don't know if has been mentioned (probably not) but Toni Kukoc, one of the best European basketball players of all time will finally be introduced to the NBA Hall of Fame. Several years later than he deserved, but better later than never, as they said.

For those NBA fans who weren't old enough to see him playing, closest comparison I could think of is Jokic, in terms of BBIQ and style of play, which was strongly focused pn playmaking & shooting 3s. Unfortunately, when he came to the NBA he was forced to buff and wrestle under the rim with physically much stronger players. Bull basically ruined him, but despite that he still had pretty good NBA career, winning 3 NBA titles with the Bulls during that golden era. Player with his qualities would probably dominate the NBA today.

Just to show what kind of player Kukoc was; back in 1987 during u-19 World Championship, Yugoslavia beat United States in the group stage, with Kukoc shooting 11/12 for three points. Yugoslavia beat United States once again in the semifinals and eventually won the Champioship, with Kukoc being voted MVP.

4591  Other / Meta / Re: What Would Be Your Reason to Leave Bitcointalk? on: May 18, 2021, 02:24:54 PM
theymos never struck me as someone willing to shot himself in the foot. He knows very well the traffic that is generated from signature campaigns as well as the altcoin boards. That's why there is no such option in the poll Wink
It's true that chances of signature campaigns getting removed is very low, but that could still happen, meaning it should have been included in the poll, imho. Even more so as we know that big part of the forum activity is the product of the ongoing signature campaigns so it would be interesting to see how many would vote for that option.

I voted for several "Age, family, life, and/or personal problems prevent me from being active." since it was the closest one to the reason that could get me away from the forum, and its simple boredom. There are forums that I am active for at least ~20 years, and every 4-5 I got fed up and take a break so I guess it could be the main reason for leaving this forum too (at least for some time).

4592  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Mjesečna Analiza za Hrvatsku Lokalnu Zajednicu (Bitcointalk Croatian) on: May 18, 2021, 10:23:08 AM

4593  Economy / Speculation / Re: How low will Bitcoin go??????????????????????? on: May 17, 2021, 06:35:48 PM
Let me check my crystal ball and I'll get back at you Cheesy

Joke aside, I don't think that we will see anywhere close to the 10k. Going down to 30k wouldn't surprise me at all, but I don't think that its going to fall down pass that. Even if that happens, all that means is that we will have an opportunity to acquire more cheap BTC. Either way, its a win!
4594  Other / Meta / Re: How to hide Elon Musk topics? Reqest for userscript on: May 17, 2021, 05:39:41 PM
So after having Bitcoin Discussion board spammed with topics about Elon, we are on the way to get the same thing in Meta  Grin

4595  Other / Meta / Re: Don't you think some people in the forum are giving too much importance to Elon? on: May 17, 2021, 10:55:04 AM
Crypto community in general is paying too much attention to Elon and his shenanigans so I am not surprised to see it here too, but I think that's the usual case on Bitcoin Discussion board, to talk about whatever is the hottest subject at the moment. So one day is Elon, another day is something else etc so business as usual I would say.

One option is to ignore creators of this topics or maybe report some of them for duplicate topics and wait for moderators reaction.
Bolded part should be done more often. If more people report duplicate topics, I am sure that mods will react and do something about it.
4596  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Načini povlačenja, pretvaranja bitcoina u HRK on: May 17, 2021, 09:17:38 AM
Kakvo prepoznavanje ljudi moji...

4597  Local / Trgovina / Re: Kupujem BTC do 20 milijuna EUR on: May 17, 2021, 07:19:40 AM
ajde objasni kako ce dobit otkaz i kako ce najebat kad im svaki put dode totalna druga osoba? Kako ce ona nju prepoznat? Nikako

4598  Other / Meta / Re: Should all scam busting techniques be made public? on: May 17, 2021, 06:43:42 AM
Why only them and not the whole Bitcointalk community?
The Bitcointalk community doesn't have a say in who gets banned anyway. theymos doesn't ask the community if he should ban user X or not. He either bans someone or he doesn't. User X will be told he got banned and the reason why. If he wants more information or proof, he can take it up with the forum admins who again make the final decisions whether user X will be unbanned or not.
Keep in mind that by revealing scam busting techniques you are also educating others who may not be interested in scam busting, but may use some of things when evaluating whether to invest their money into something/use some service etc. So if all those evidence and techniques are unavailable to an average forum user, we would miss some serious educational opportunity.

For example, during this bull run one friend told me about some "promising" altcoin project, asking whether I am interested. First thing I did was reverse image search as team looked dodgy, and of course team was fake. Now, if other more experienced scambusters didn't reveal some of those techniques I would think that team is legit, as Google didn't find anything. Only here I learned about Yandex being much better for that purpose, which is my first choice now.

I believe that you should share these techniques. If they are effective, then others can implement them and you will have exponential effects.
+1
4599  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Mjesečna Analiza za Hrvatsku Lokalnu Zajednicu (Bitcointalk Croatian) on: May 16, 2021, 04:56:19 PM

Lista aktivnih clanova u periodu 1.4-30.4
