these aren't worth a lot. You can get tons of them via hostgator.
4582  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Gigabyte 770T-D3L v1.x with 5 GPUs - Yay or Nay? on: June 07, 2011, 08:53:34 PM
the cards *may* pull too much power from the motherboard. that's the only issue i can think of.
4583  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Whats better 168$ 5830 or 226$ 5850 on: June 07, 2011, 08:48:05 PM
Can 5850s really go to 375?  The stock was like 250 so that's a pretty huge increase.

Yeah maybe 350 or 325 not sure.
umad?

oh, and 5850 aren't that expensive. I can get one for $200, new, shipped, after rebate.
4584  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Eliminate the need for mining pools? on: June 07, 2011, 08:44:07 PM

4585  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Shift the decimal point over? on: June 07, 2011, 08:43:09 PM
maybe an option? I like the classic numbering scheme better.
4586  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Would this quad GPU mining setup work? on: June 07, 2011, 08:40:47 PM
A) You cannot put an AMD CPU with an Intel socket. Moreover, that mobo is socket 1155, so the cheapest CPU you could get with that would be the i3-1200. $99 from Microcenter, or $125 from newegg.
B) That motherboard only has 2 PCI 2.0x16 slots, so you could only have 4 GPUs in there unless you buy some adaptors
C) A 750W power supply is nowhere near enough for 4 GPUs. Maybe 2.
you don't need pci-e x16 slots for mining. x1 is good enough and 750 should be enough for at least 2 GPUs, and probably 3.
I was assuming that his properly stocked garage included a dremel and a soldering iron... add in a pizza box and some duct tape, and you can make anything fit!
not sure if serious
4587  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 2x XFX 5850, both no POST on: June 07, 2011, 04:33:25 PM
if shipping isn't expensive, RMA one of the card. (just to test if it's really broken)

another possibility: your motherboard hates ATI/XFX video cards Cheesy
4588  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Dummy plugs in XP? on: June 07, 2011, 04:28:54 PM
I'd seen in a few places that XP doesn't require dummy plugs to run headless or see cards that aren't plugged into monitors
nope, you need dummy plugs, or go with linuxcoin
4589  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 2x XFX 5850, both no POST on: June 07, 2011, 04:27:51 PM
so i guess the card is DOA?
4590  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 2x XFX 5850, both no POST on: June 07, 2011, 04:26:00 PM
diagnostic procedure:
1. disconnect 5850
2. plug in another card that is known to be working
3. do not disturb any other parts of the PC
4. see if it works
4591  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 2x XFX 5850, both no POST on: June 07, 2011, 04:21:18 PM
tried plugging them in one at a time?
4592  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How can I setup my own pool? on: June 07, 2011, 04:01:07 PM
you should be running a mining proxy, that connects to a pool. Even with that much hash rate, it's going to take forever to get a block.

4599  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / best way to anonymize bitcoins? on: June 06, 2011, 01:36:08 AM
For a coin laundering site, what is the best way to anonymize transactions? The best i can think of is receiving bitcoins at multiple addresses (to verify that you actually sent the coins), and then forward ALL of it to a single "master" address. This way, all the coins coming in is completely mixed with the others. Then, the coins will be sent from the "master" address to their intended recipients, in 2+ separate transactions.
4600  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why I have fallen out of love with democracy. on: June 06, 2011, 01:26:05 AM
1. user presents opposing side, does a good job
2. topic starter says his argument is invalid because he is the opposition

Huh?  The topic starter hasn't made a post in here since he started the topic.  I provided a solution to the corruption in my first post in this thread.  Ironically one that is usually favored by libertarian types.  More government doesn't solve the government corruption problem.  Also Socialist Democracies aren't free.
whoops. got the two users confused.  Embarrassed
