4581  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can a corrupt team cook a blockchain? on: June 29, 2020, 11:28:48 AM
I know behind the scenes at the code level (or maybe node level) there is a lot of control a developer can have.   Is it possible for a corrupt team to make it that only certain people are getting stakes?
You never know, anything is possible in this wild west of crypto.

It would be best to document your investigation first before accusing anyone though. Also check if there is something erroneous on your side of things, talk to other trusted users and see if the same problem is happening on their end as well. These should be your basic groundwork but if your evidence is quite suggestive, then make a thread in "Scam accusations".

Sometimes though, it is possible to take help from the developers (someone older) and sync wallets again, are you sure you have done that?
4582  Economy / Economics / Re: Gold Price Prediction & its impact on cryptocurrencies on: June 28, 2020, 05:28:10 AM
-snip-
I dont completely agree with your choices though. This is a bitcoin forum and thus a thread like this will get a response like yours but still it is not a logical one.

You see, gold and property are limited resources and thus their demand will be rising as population grows, because hey, they love to breed like rabbits dont they? Grin

Anyway bitcoin is also having a limited supply so it is also a winner here. But fiat money is obviously not a good thing to keep your money in. Stocks are good if you know what the put money into and when to exit. Its needs more daily analysis to keep up and difficult to maintain a proper portfolio. Invest in consumer good sector in stocks when prices are low, you will be getting a green streak.
4583  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a Store of Value on: June 28, 2020, 05:22:55 AM
Is it really a store of value? Huh The way I see it, it all depends on whether you’re going long term or short term. For a short term I wouldn’t call it a store for value, you’re just investing and trying make some profit from the fluctuating price of BTC. And when I say long term, I mean at least two years. If you check the price of Bitcoin, every year or two, it will appreciate to a level that is more than what it was before.
Two years is still somewhat mid to long term in my opinion, because it is a subjective scale comparing to the stock market, I would say at least 6-7 years is a good long term period for holding bitcoin. Because of the drastic fall that happened after 2017 Q4 and now that the market price has reached above 9k USD, people are at profit. However this was not the case back in 2012-13,14. Bitcoin was in 3digit price figures at that time.

Quote
Moreover, a store of value asset should remain with least possible fluctuations so that people will not lose their networth over the time;
Here comes the importance of portfolio management. One needs to increase/decrease the weight-age of bitcoin and other assets with time to manage their fund properly.

Quote
I agree bitcoin is bullish on long term but how it will help short term investors.
Much comes from the derivatives markets which have recently boomed a lot. Also the short term trading strategies for day trading is there. No guaranteed profit but some people like that.
4584  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Development bounties? on: June 27, 2020, 10:56:15 AM
I can't seem to find development bounties in bounty threads.
Does anyone know of where I can find good development bounties?
The proper place for that would be either in "Services" or "Project Development".

Quote
Or is the whole of crypto not actually building products Huh
I would honestly say yes and no.

There are good quality projects being developed but there is a shit ton of shit projects being promoted heavily though the trend has reduced to some extent. You see the whole project development thing is good and people join them provide their services and get paid. Its like a day job there.

This is not the same as what the word "bounty" is commonly used for here. The term you are looking for is "team member" I believe. Bounty is for rewarding some users who take part in promoting the project and not develop the project.
4585  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: What happened to ICObench? on: June 27, 2020, 10:52:33 AM
People lost their trust on review sites especially ICObench because bitcointalk community exposed they are giving fake reviews and decieving investors money and also not much of legit bounties are active so they have no reason to be existing here.
Exactly, something similar happened with all the ICO rating sites out there.

You have to understand that this is not like S&P or Moodys where they rate Bonds. Even they are heavily bribed to keep those bonds on the top, but nobody is there to investigate and punish them. Here the impetus comes from the community, where people are seeing the failure that ICOs and IEOs have been.

Added to that is the worthlessness of the tokens that have been sold. ICObench even used a "Premium" system to list new ICOs on top of their page for more viewership. All these things led to some problems within the community and thus you can understand how it went down.

I am sure they are still there just their digital footprint is lagging now. I am also sure they will be back soon with a new persona.
4586  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you know job/investment related to crypto that provide stable daily income? on: June 27, 2020, 10:47:19 AM
You can invest your money and become a trader on the cryptocurrency market.
But trading is not a job that is confirmed to give you 100$/day like the OP says, it will vary and the only possibility of that is a day job that pays a fixed amount every month.

Quote
The important thing is that you need to have a vision so you don't have to lose money. This is not easy, I used to want to make money like you but I have little capital.
Dont be disheartened by that. I believe every coin in our own capital is worth it. Everyone works hard to make their money and so we should invest diligently and not carelessly. Always keep liquid cash at hand and invest the rest in different sectors, apart from crypto as well.

Quote
So I always diligently participate in all the bonus campaigns on the forum to make money. My life is like that.
Thats not bad but problem is that even this forum is not something that is eternal, so you should have a backup plan, trust me, you can thank me later.
4587  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Uber or Airbnb running on bitcoin on: June 27, 2020, 10:42:01 AM
I always thought it was a good idea when you can pay for your purchases with cryptocurrency. Otherwise, it's just useless.
If paying for services is your only point of being "useful" then yes it is useless. Let aside all the ideological stuff of being different from the traditional banking system and giving the finanacial power back to the people. With governments not allowing the use because they are wary that bitcoin decreases the level of corruption that can be possible with fiat money. Sure enough it is "useless" Roll Eyes

Quote
It is necessary to implement similar payment systems in cafes, taxis and hotels.
Depends on the merchant and the government's approach to the coin. I dont see any ride sharing company till date accepting bitcoin so less chance of it getting into any of them but maybe in future we might see better or a project that allows bitcoin to be quickly paid to the driver in terms of their mode of payment.

@SiNeReiNZzz: Mellowads still alive? why does it not load properly and can't login from my side? is there a new url?

They're blocked by almost every adblocker.
Correct.

Add them to your adblocker's whitelist and you should be good to go. I also could not open it and tried this and it worked.

Quote
I am sure I had tons of credit there!
One of my referrals of Mellowads itself is still active for more than 2years now and gives me referral commission off the faucet claim. I have 0.00016 in stock there already for free and running some campaigns on them. Pretty nice cycling of invested money isnt it?

4590  Other / Meta / Re: Trust System on: June 26, 2020, 07:38:35 AM
What I like to say in this system is : Feedback is common, Trust is rare.

You dont trust anybody based on their rating. Since we have a history of people who have farmed their trust with small p2p exchanges and one fine day used that big green trust wall as a leverage to scam someone. On the internet, one of the basic rules do not trust anybody unless you know them in real life closely.

Feedback is a more general term. Feedback is often left of trades, which was why this system was made for marketplace but it has gone beyond that a method of marking scammers and frauds.
4591  Economy / Lending / Re: HOW CAN I GET A LOAN FOR A BUSINESS. PAY BACK IN SIX MONTHS on: June 26, 2020, 07:35:46 AM
Blatant begging threads without anything valid should be trashed. I wonder when such rules are going to get implemented here.

Mind changing the thread title to Sentence Case? All caps is similar to shouting loud.

You will get a loan only if you provide a valid collateral. This is not a charity, its a business marketplace.
4592  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: June 26, 2020, 05:52:19 AM
Why the visits to my link at MellowAds are so different, for example on the 10.06.2020, I have been wondering for a long time. The budget was the same every day.  Huh
They rotate the ads on different sites of their network. So it depends on how much traffic that site is getting that day as far as my understanding. Its nothing to worry or overthink, it is normal. During my first few days I used to be intrigued by seeing visits only but sad seeing no conversions. Paying mellowads to run aggressive campaigns is also a good investment but there is a plateau effect too, meaning that it is not directly proportional after a limit.

I think some kind of bug in the programming. It's not the first time either.
It not bug, because if it was then someone would have picked it up during all these years.
4593  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto's economic value is surprisingly low :'( on: June 26, 2020, 05:48:45 AM
Beside that, education and spreading out basic knowledge is just as important.
Have you tried doing this in real life? I have and it was counter productive, people wanted to know if their money is secured or not. What they dont like is that bitcoin is decentralized and they cannot accept the fact that there is no "hacker" organisation controlling it in reality. This is tough to make someone understand and added on top the negative attitude of the media has been a red flag on crypto. It will a take lot of time to change this mentality.

Quote
The more people understand it, the more people will use it.
People always trade ease of use to technology. So more understanding is irrelevant if they dont get the ease or speed.

Quote
The car also needed time to establish itself as a successor to the horse carriage, we need to give cryptos and blockchain more time
I think so too. It is growing and developing and gaining attention, slowly we will see better changes.
4594  Local / India / Re: BTC VS UPI ? on: June 25, 2020, 05:10:33 AM
This making of this thread is a joke at the most, but I appreciate the effort anyway.

UPI and Bitcoin are completely different things. UPI is an interface for fiat transfers, compare it with other payment methods like Visa, Mastercard. It has been adopted on many apps like stated above.

Bitcoin is a decentralized currency without any bank controlling it.

UPI is good for smaller volume payments, like paying the grocery shop, sending gifts to friends and family and so on. It has limits and defenitely not the way to go for buying a lambo(Pun intended) like @webtricks did Cheesy

Also the BHIM app is pretty buggy in my experience but it is still usable.
4595  Local / Press & News from India / Re: Warning! on: June 25, 2020, 05:06:49 AM
I have tried to make my near and dear ones more knowledgable about the problems of the internet being a big part of their lives now and that everyone should have a basic understand of cybercrime and how keep themselves safe specially since our country's cybercrime unit is lacking and we ourselves are the biggest factor who can prevent such incidents.

Few things regarding this was:
1. Checking email sender's address. Unknown address or accented letters = phishing.
2. Attempting to use the "Fear/Greed" intimidating tactic to blunt the vicitim's logic. Trust me, greed is enough to get control over any average Indian's mind and this need more work.
3. Not downloading any attachments from emails from unknown senders.
4. Bookmarking commonly visited sites and checking them first on search engines before visiting.

Its not enough, I know but basic for any user.
4596  Other / Meta / Re: How about restricting low rank people from opening new topics on: June 25, 2020, 05:01:22 AM
Report the thread, not the newbie. As simple as that. Multiple reports coming on the same thread creator will bring in some more restrictions and thus give the mods the warrant to ban/nuke the user.

Restricting someone from creating new threads is against what a forum is. A forum is a place for discussion and keeping aside the fact that this forum has a problem of repetitive topics which is unique to the problems of this forum, it would be a discriminatory practice for the new members who are joining.

There are bots, I agree. But the way to fight them is to report their posts. No need to engage them at all, let mods do their job and we do our part.
4597  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Is there a risk in connecting the wallet to decentralized exchanges? on: June 25, 2020, 04:55:55 AM
Now I want to trade via a decentralized exchange like Binance DEX when I do the connection asks me to enter the wallet seed and then create a keystore file and keep it on my hard drive while protecting it with a password. Then I connect to DEX via keystore file.
So when you would do that the password becomes everything keeping your coins safe and someone stealing them. Of course I dont suspect Binance to steal your coins trying to bruteforce it, they are reputed and will not be trying to your coins for their profit. But there is possibilities of how they are keeping the keystore file and if that data ever gets in wrong hands, then the password becomes the only thing keeping your coins safe.

Its better to use a hardware wallet than creating a new wallet to store the coins that you wish to exchange IMO.
4598  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Interview with Stake.com CEO Reveals Plans for Tether Betting + New Games. on: June 24, 2020, 06:28:20 AM
Sooner or later, the gambling website will accept another stable coin at their site, so the gamblers will have more options to place the bets.
Market demand may drive them accept stablecoins. But keep in mind that stablecoins are not the same as what bitcoin was initially idolized to be. Stablecoins are centralized coins and the risk of the people running them to control the coins just like a bank. Of course altcoins acceptance had to be done due to public demand so maybe in future stablecoins too.

Quote
Maybe accepting the stable coin can attract big gamblers who have a lot of money to play on the crypto gambling website because that can give the gambler from the fiat money to try to playing gambling using the cryptocurrency besides of using the fiat money.
Maybe, still the crypto community does not like the presence of stablecoins. Crypto is about volatile assets and that is what attracted risk takers in the market. But casinos have to run on what the public demands and not what is ideal.
4599  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: trade & investment is getting harder and harder. on: June 24, 2020, 06:23:33 AM
Well, it's almost thesame here and i know quite a lot of traders who are finding it difficult to make decent profit during this rather difficult time.
I am seeing people call the 6k mark as "difficult times" and now 9k mark as difficult. So which mark is "easy" for you? If you keep thinking like that no price will seem fit for your buying or selling and you will waste time thinking. Those who bought at low can sell at this time if they need money at hand. Price is not going down below 9k for 2weeks now.

Quote
Well i kinda attributed it to the whole market downtrends we are currently facing, the bears is at large and trading is much profitable during bear conditions. Nonetheless, there are still some traders making it quite well but it's isn't comparable to when there is a bull market
The market is bullish now for reasons unknown to me. It would seem that the crisis wave should have continued but people are probably seeing it as an opportunity to buy more bitcoin and raising the price.

Thus it is a good time to sell if you wish to. Buy if the price drops to 8k or lower.
4600  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Sometimes hunters are to be blame on: June 24, 2020, 06:19:31 AM
I guess the one who must be blame is the one who take actions. Everyone who chooses their own path is responsible for their choices so if anyone lacks research for joining a bad bounty, be responsible also for it because whatever the reason you may have, you made a wrong move.
True, but I have seen some hunters genuinely working to promote the project as if it was their own project. This type of mentality is going to hurt them severely when the project fails to deliver and cannot payout the bounties. Wiser ones have learnt from their mistakes and stopped taking part in these bounties and moved on to better and more stable modes of earning. The bounty section spam has also reduced much recently but some people are still making new account and taking part in them.

Nobody is going to judge a bounty to be bad or good because the world is like that, you need to learn to judge and face the consequences of your judgement.
