4581  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin being decentralised an illusion? on: August 13, 2021, 11:09:15 AM
Someone once theorized that Satoshi Nakamoto was actually the government. This was all an elaborate scheme to get people to be tracked by a "pseudoanonymous" digital currency. I am cynical, but not that cynical.

However, I do believe the system is already being controlled. It does not take much capital to move cryptocurrency prices or markets. It is done all the time in the stock market.

It's an old theory yeah but I really don't think the government's that smart. If he was government, then he was acting independently or a few of them were doing it together as funded by governments. I mean there are layers upon layers of state funding and all parallel and oblivious to each other. So if it happened, it was technical but never intended.

There is SOME control of the system for sure, but it still beats every other system out there.
4582  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin faces strong resistance to reach $50k? on: August 13, 2021, 10:24:02 AM
This week started with much anticipation for Bitcoin price analysts such as myself with high hopes that we are going to see a 50k Bitcoin price at the end of the week, we saw how Bitcoin price reached above $46k during this week before correcting down to $44k at the moment and the weekend is almost here.
What are your Bitcoin price predictions are we going to enter the weekend in green and what is your price prediction this weekend.

It's not over yet though, just in the last 24 hours, it looked like it was going to head down quite deep as it was red everywhere but then as soon as Asian markets closed over here, everything picked up again. Bitcoin back to making a weekly high on Friday. Altcoins are the same and really enjoying this boost. It could be the circle of giving I think so for another weekend. Very good August so far.

$150m? Seriously! I don't understand how desperate City is to try to get Kane for that number especially after paying a big amount for Grealish.. Maybe ManU and especially Chelsea squad are terrifying them that much? Chelsea looks very dangerous at this point after getting Lukaku so dropping points by City might cost them the title.

The 130m (euro/pound) clause has been there already for a long time and Levy, the Spurs chair, he won't budge from that price. They still have 2 more seasons on Kane's contract so I bet you they feel it's worth keeping him if they can't let go for that amount of money. I personally don't think he's that great, but it is what it is and strikers aren't so much in supply right now in modern football.
4584  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io "Soccer Blackjack" @ 21.00 odds on: August 13, 2021, 07:47:18 AM
Yikes, 13 points and we're not yet at halftime... looks very much like a bust is on the cards, doesn't it? Switching off live score updates as this is getting a bit too much to bear. Very pleased when we end HT at 7 or 8 points. Nervous but all right at 9/10... but 13?

But hey, no points, no glory. Let's hope they both take a chill pill after the break.

I had some hope at the 80 minute mark when we were sitting at 18 points...

Full time result:
Goals: 6
Cards: 6
Corners: 12

Another bust with 24  Undecided

Well, no glory without busting your blood all over the place right?Smiley I actually checked scores in between sleep here and there and I knew it was a bust even at 50th minute (15 points maybe?) Scary to play these leagues but then again as you guys say, no points mean we'll never reach 21.

Get the bad juju out of the way right?
4585  Economy / Economics / Re: What’s the nature of currency? on: August 13, 2021, 07:05:23 AM
Bitcoin operation is indeed not very easy for novices. They are fundamentally different from the original bank payment operation methods, especially the most basic security measures such as the preservation of private keys. Quite a lot of novices eventually lost their bitcoins due to improperly kept private keys. This is a huge lesson for each of us. Bitcointalk has done a great job in the basic popularization of Bitcoin.

Yeah, that was my point. I know it's getting easier and easier, but I honestly have to admit it wasn't straightforward at first, and it's almost guaranteed you'll make a mistake in your first few attempts at using Bitcoin, and I consider myself a little bit more educated than average and still I've made mistakes (wrong fee, wrong coin, wrong change address etc. Like you said, the most basic step, private keys, is even missing from most newbies.

Bitcoin still has to find a way somehow to be even friendlier to use.
4586  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The intrinsic value debate. on: August 13, 2021, 06:00:04 AM
I won't get into the argument of what counts as intrinsic value and what doesn't. All I need to know is that the US dollar isn't actually backed by what is traditionally called intrinsinc value, but no one questions the value of USD simply because America is America.

But now in defi with hacks continuing to happen, and on altcoins 51% attacks getting more and more common, is the security of Bitcoin not provably its intrinsic value?
4587  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- now at: 21/22 3rd Qualifying Round on: August 12, 2021, 06:12:13 PM
By the way, I noticed that the rule "who begins a series of penalties that wins" was the work even more tightly than before. I can't even remember when I last saw the opposite, although statistically the team starting the streak has an advantage of about 10%.

Not sure what you mean by this rule? If you have a streak of penalties you have a better chance of winning the shootout you mean? Didn't this also happen in the last EUROs though? Smiley

Italy failed the second kick and then England made it 2-1 so the pressure was on Italy, and then Italy even missed the last, but then we all know England missed their last 3 shots and boom, trophy lost.
4588  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 12, 2021, 02:53:22 PM
Good afternoon brothers!
I have something now to be regular again on the forum. Premier League and bitcoin, I have nothing else to enjoy. Bitcoin is boring until it hits $100k to be honest.

DarkStar_, welsh are new additions with few more new names I can see. Welcome brothers. Let the game began. I will be making my selections very soon.

As always, good luck to Liverpool. Hope we will have a great season.

Actually I remember them from last seasons so they are definitely now new:) Welcome back, I seem to remember you were missing for a while because of life and work? It happens to all of us, so we're happy to have you back.

I'm still struggling to make my picks as I really want a good start:)
4589  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 12, 2021, 02:20:25 PM
I still find it strange there is so little interest in a league that used to have the two GOATs of football.
it's always been like this in this board, with or without messi/cr7  Sad

Come to think of it yeah, I don't really know anyone in this forum from Spain or Spanish speaking countries, just mainly other West Europeans and Asians who can speak English. Maybe it's just a language thing? Huge La Liga following in Asia, of course, nothing like EPL but it was mainly Barca and Real responsible for that here.
4590  Economy / Speculation / Re: The market is not good on: August 12, 2021, 12:56:34 PM
Since the market is showing some good push towards this August which supposed to be a bear season as speculated by other it means that we will have a great upcoming months and I really think that we can see those good pumps coming. Now bitcoin step at $46k and we are close to reach at $50k so if this continue to be bullish then provably we can see bitcoin  reach its ATH again or maybe it creates another new ATH this year.

And here right now is happening the dip I was expecting all week long. Still above 45k which is very very good support to show the market. I think we might still see even 43k before Saturday comes though. Some "bad news" from the industry about the hack of Polygon and defi market has some spillover effect to ETH, and possibly because of wrapped BTC lost there.

Or am I wrong to think any of that has an effect?
4591  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My first bitcoin shopping on: August 12, 2021, 12:09:22 PM
Thank you for sharing, may this forum forever be a place to share such things:)

My first experience with Bitcoin as a means of payment was from another forum member here, who is always shy to say it and even sadly, he doesn't remember it anymore but that's not an issue.

He asked me to send him something from my home to another home, across the international mail borders and he paid me in Bitcoin. It changed my views about money because I didn't need to even say which country I was from or open any account:)
4592  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 12, 2021, 10:59:31 AM
when ronaldo's departure from la Liga made the competition look no longer attractive, and now messi has also officially left Barcelona so that of course will make the charm of la Liga fade in my opinion, the departure of the best players who have charm certainly makes La Liga become less desirable to watch and this also El Classico will feel like a normal match, and maybe we have to wait long enough to see the arrival of new quality talents such as messi and ronaldo, and in my opinion now only suarez has quality quite good in La Liga Grin.

I think La Liga will survive. It will for sure take a hit but we've all seen the GOATs come and go. Becham left United and the club didn't fade. Ronaldinho left Barca, and Luis Figo (although haha we all know where to) and Ronaldo (original) left Real but nothing faded.

New stars and new heroes will fill the void.

El Clasico is something else though and yes, maybe that will need new heroes and villains.
4593  Other / Archival / Re: July Regulatory War Against Binance...is CZ Ready to Surrender? on: August 12, 2021, 10:38:21 AM
But once fiat off is disabled, then the exchange will be over.

Binance rose to prominence w/o any support for fiat at first. Until about last year it was necessary to use a second exchange or service to buy crypto with fiat, then deposit crypto into Binance. Curiously, now it seems common opinion that the removal of fiat means the end of Binance.

Yes but that was because most exchanges at the time had no fiat support. Now to have an exchange that is just crypto alone, you might as well use a DEX, which is why Uni and others (including pancakeswap) are popular. But people now need a place to buy and sell crypto for fiat. And my question still remains, is EURO withdrawal still available?
4594  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io "Soccer Blackjack" @ 21.00 odds on: August 12, 2021, 07:57:16 AM
Well, who expects what today from this championship match?

It's a pity of course that Lukaku will not take part in this derby, despite the fact that he is already in the UK. In any case, I expect today that the clubs will exchange a couple of goals, since Chelsea and Villarreal have not met before, therefore mistakes cannot be avoided. Roll Eyes

Villareal tried to do another penalty shootout win to get the victory against English opponents but this time Chelsea were ready for it unlike Manchester United before.

This was more like an exhibition match but I read the scorer had a shoulder injury, hopefully not like the Salah final that kept him out for months?
4595  Economy / Economics / Re: What’s the nature of currency? on: August 12, 2021, 07:24:07 AM
Underlying infrastructure and all that yes, but the interface on top also needs to be very good. And the "fiat ramps" as they say.
Bitcoin is pretty easy to use. I mean at least as easy as it comes in the crypto world. The usage issue is being solved with the Lightning Network pretty well I'd say. There is almost >2k BTC on LN now. So, the usage is definitely growing and it is more a matter of regulatory convenience now rather than technical convenience.

Same for the Fiat ramps. It is mostly about what regulation will allow which will determine how "adoption" grows. There is another way of looking at it though. Even without much regulation, Bitcoin has done well. People who take the time and effort, eventually find ways. Maybe it is better than bitcoin is for self-starters, rather than for those who need to have their hands held all the time to decide whats good for them financially. Most of those people should probably then just stick to Mutual Funds and shit.

It really isn't. For me and for you, it's easy but you can't argue that it's easier than fiat and fintech apps.

And I do love Bitcoin so it's not like I'm attacking it but when I first came to use it 4/5 years ago, the apps weren't great if you want your own open source wallet which was non custodial. It's better today but it's still not as easy and friendly to use as other fintech apps but that's a problem we may not be able to solve if you still want people to set their own fees, have their own coin control, have multiple spend, etc.

It's also an attitude that we have to change a little. Instead of saying to people boy, go stick to mutual funds and shit, I think we can also look inward and make things for the mainstream.

We keep saying mainstream adoption right? So  shouldn't we act it also?

Shakhtar Monaco is definitely the highlight for me, but I would really like to see the French make it through to the group stages.

Rangers were a shock yes, but I think the expectations were too high on them. Remember they've not been in Champions League for so long and the quality of Europa where they played is very different. Full credit to Malmo. Have they ever been in Champions League?
4597  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Italian Serie A ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 11, 2021, 10:55:43 AM
No problem, you are already listed in OP for both pools. Will make the actual Superbru pools later today and start sending links to paid participants. I just strong armed another one. So it should be at least 12 participants for this pool Smiley

That's really good news and thank you, I've also already accepted the invites and I see myself in both pools. To those who haven't joined, you can even make your Superbru predictions and when you join a pool the predictions are already there (in case you cannot join immediately) so do that first!

I have no fav so I picked AC Milan because Kaka Tongue
4598  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 11, 2021, 10:23:11 AM
Allowing people to join until end of September is a good idea, but I still find it strange there is so little interest in a league that used to have the two GOATs of football.

Oh and yes I woke up to Messi PSG news finally. The nightmare has truly entered for Barca. Tough time to be a fan now but I wish Messi the best (I still wish he joined a better league).
4599  Economy / Speculation / Re: The market is not good on: August 11, 2021, 08:53:34 AM
But it is still above the support level of $45k so that's the most important thing right now.

That's bitcoin for you, fluctuates every week but at the end it can go on the direction of North, meaning the price can still grow even if we have this minor dip at 1%-2% from time to time.

And now that we are entering the last quarter, it's going to be a wild ride, it's either we reach a new all time high, or bitcoin will fall dramatically, I do hope that the former will happen.

And the fact that it's already midweek and still going strong should be a very positive sign for all of us. I was expecting a dip below 40k again but if this 45k holds and becomes the new support we are definitely seeing a return to ATH by September!

October is the final quarter and I think a lot of bears are getting worried:)
4600  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The relationship between Bitcoin and human civilization on: August 11, 2021, 08:02:35 AM
Yes, currently many countries are trying hard to create a Bitcoin version of FIAT by utilizing the same technology, blockchain. The fiat digital currency issued by the government is essentially different from Bitcoin. The fiat cryptocurrency uses only blockchain technology, which is a substitute for paper money, and does not adopt the real Bitcoin idea. Let's take the issuance of Bitcoin as an example, the total amount is 21 million. I believe that no government will limit the total issuance of its fiat digital currency. They will only continue to overprint currency. This is no different from the original banknotes.

The only thing that resembles Bitcoin in all these digital fiat versions is the ledger. But everything else is completely different though. Basically, the same thing with alts and most crypto. Only inspired by Bitcoin, but only from the technology. Everything else, namely control, permission are retained. Even immutability and supply caps are all gone from these blockchains:)
