4581  Economy / Speculation / Re: price forecast for 125K/BTC by Marius Kramer by June 2021 on: March 15, 2021, 05:46:50 PM
125k by June 2021, yes I think its in the cards.

We really cant compare 2021 to 2017, we are experiencing a different wave of
investors, it isnt any longer all about OTC buyers, we have a lot of wealthy people
and corporations moving their wealth into Bitcoin to evade the upcoming inflation.
These investors are not selling at the end of the year like 2017, they are HODLing long term.

Look at PlanB's stock to flow chart and you will see that we can certainly
reach these highs this year.

4582  Economy / Economics / Re: Biden planning first tax hike(major) since 1993 on: March 15, 2021, 04:57:38 PM
The Pharmacist is right and I along with others have said this already, the trillions of dollars
of stimulus has to be paid back sooner or later. There will be pain to follow all this free money.

To summarize, these are the proposals:

1. Increasing the corporate tax rate to 28% from 21%
2. Increasing the income tax for those who earn more than $400,000 per year
3. Increase in estate tax (not sure how much)
4. Increase in long-term capital gains tax for those with annual income of >$1,000,000 (not sure how much)

All of these will have negative consequences. If they increase the corporate tax, then the unemployment issue will get even worse. On paper, the democrats are claiming that they are taxing the rich. But the rich have most of their assets in offshore tax havens and this measure will end up mostly targeting the middle class.

The ideas are probably correct but the application may not yield the desired results.

There are some wealthy individuals as we know who have migrated some of their
wealth into Bitcoin, will these new taxation laws drive more wealth into Bitcoin?

4583  Economy / Speculation / Re: We are going to lose 20% today on: March 15, 2021, 02:46:39 PM

-snip-

Regarding the price drop, I don't care. I'm still holding and yawning. If you go long term, small fluctuations like this are no big deal.

Me too, its a good plan to just HODL and be patient because you know what?
It will go back up, this is the current trend.

I'm just a little annoyed because I dont have much spare FIAT to avail of the Bitcoin SALE price.

Round 4 of 5 saw some very close matches with only 1 team unbeaten - Wales
France who still have a chance of winning the championship face off in the last
round against Wales, that will be an absolute cracking match.

The other game to loo forward to is Ireland v England and also to note that France
and Scotland have a game in hand.

Results from the weekend

Italy     7 - 48     Wales
England     23 - 20     France
Scotland     24 - 27     Ireland

4586  Economy / Speculation / Re: Btc will be 120000 USD maximum this 2021 on: March 15, 2021, 10:09:27 AM
I have researched and its my personal research. as per the conclusion . BTC will be 120K in this bull run. But if a government ban or somthing happended it may vary.

How about your thoughts?

Can you give us any further information on how you deduced this assesment?

How long will "this bull run" continue for? I am taking it that you and many others
expect January 2022 is when there will be a "crash". The theory behind this way
of thinking is "welll it happened in 2017/2018, so its going to happen again"

"A govennment ban or something" wont change Bitcoins popularity or value much
after all it would just be 1 government acting alone as ha happened on many
occasions previously.

This goes against how most developed countires are treating Bitcoin, they are not
banning it, they are trying to regulate the entry and exit points to and from Bitcoin.
4587  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin/Crypto Carbon Tax? on: March 15, 2021, 08:08:44 AM
Sooner or later all countries will tax crypto. Because they want piece of the crypto pie too

Most countries, with the exception if a few already tax crypto profits in the shape
of capital gains tax, treating it like any other investment.

In Europe some of us are already paying Carbon Tax so the more electricity you use
the more you pay https://taxfoundation.org/carbon-taxes-in-europe-2020/

If I buy an Electric Car which uses Electricity from the national grid, the same grid
which burns coal to generate electricity I dont pay any extra Carbon Tax just because
I have an EV, I pay the same rate as boiling a kettle.

The article is just another attack on Bitcoin using electricity again to beat it with.
4588  Economy / Economics / Re: I think I know who satoshi really is Am I Crazy? He He.... on: March 14, 2021, 08:49:53 AM
lots and lots of assumptions on the identity of Satoshi, the number 1 is that
Satoshi was a HE.

So after 10 years, 113 pages and 2255 posts in this thread >
Who is Satoshi Nakamoto?  (Read 137229 times) nobody is any the wiser.

Every suspected candidate has been mentioned, thats all though, there is nothing
to link with Satoshi which reveals the identity.
4589  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin all time high on: March 13, 2021, 07:42:25 PM
Seems to be a lot of buying for a Saturday night (in the UK).

Could it be people trying to get ahead of the game for Monday?

Dont know, it was the same last weekend IIRC...

Its just buy pressure, these threads can get outdated within a few days
my Blockfolio account shows the global average price for Bitcoin today at
$60,567, and more to follow
4590  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 36th America's Cup 2021 discussion on: March 13, 2021, 07:36:12 PM
Brilliant, This is getting more and more interesting, I certainly wasnt
expecting it to be so even.

As I said earlier, the starts are critical, along with close proximity racing
tactics and tacking.

I like that Team New Zealand are not showing their predicted dominance.

Ending note: I'm eagerly waiting for taproot to be finally activated.

The implimentation of Taproot Taproot will be a welcome upgrade.
It will provide us with a new level of privacy.

Nicely put stompix.
For those who cannot see what is happening I suggest they would look more into what the main blockchain surveillance companies are doing behind the scenes of every exchange, for instance (with all their KYT, AI powered real-time blockchain transaction monitoring that go abck and forth several hops along the way).
And for those who will fight hard until the very end, do not forget there are a few arrows that can be thrown.

Nobody said that keeping some financial freedom was ever meant to be easy.  Cool

Thank you for that link to the insightful article, everyone should have a read.

Its true, with governments efforts to catch us all in the TAX net I fear it will be
difficult to evade.
4592  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Younger Generation and Revolut on: March 13, 2021, 08:24:33 AM
I think the new generation now are aware of something new that they do not know. They are trying to learn and practice about that thing to see if that thing is good or bad for them.

-snip-

There is also a degree of FOMO, it always happens when there is an uptrend.
My daughter know about Bitcoin and my involvement but was previously sceptical,
now that Bitcoin has PROVEN itself she (and many others) deem it a viable option.

My task now is to educate her so that she then can educate her friends.
4593  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invested in alt in 2017 ..and now need help to dont do same mistake on: March 13, 2021, 07:32:11 AM
I dont fully understand, do you have 70% in Bitcoin or is it all in ALT's?
I dont do ALT's anymore, most would suggest 10 to 20% in ALT's & the rest BTC.

There will be plenty of price corrections to come but nobody knows
when that will be. We already had a 20% correction at the end of Feb.
There will almost certainly be dips before key price
points like $60k, $70k etc.

Quote
be patient and wait the famous correction .....
I take it you mean like 2017/2018, There are a lot of people who think
that same kind of "crash" will happen again, Why? There are different
investors this year, investors not interested in selling only buying.
4594  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is for Holders! on: March 12, 2021, 11:42:43 PM
Nope. Bitcoin is for whatever you see fit and for whatever purpose you want to use it. Depending on the person, it can be:

  • used as a hedge for economic uncertainty
  • as a speculative investment
  • to send money overseas or to send money in general
  • as a store of wealth for the bankless
  • to buy whatever item/product
  • etc

or a mixture of multiple things, or all things altogether.

spot on MK4 but the strongest thing you can do with Bitcoin is HODL.

If at all possible we have to Hodl for the future to be in a stronger position,
it kind of goes against what Bitcoin was designed for but that aspect of it
is still useable.

The weak hands are selling to Hodlers.
4595  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 36th America's Cup 2021 discussion on: March 12, 2021, 09:44:30 PM
Race 3 Luna Rossa gained time on Team New Zealand on every leg, very smooth sail.

Race 4 there was a definite speed difference, NZ seemed to be faster for sure but
LR were close for the first leg, second leg saw them make a mistake and its over for them.

So far its hard to pick a winner.
4596  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which plan seems better? on: March 12, 2021, 01:52:52 PM
Over the years 1 have been buying BTC, ETH & LTC, now its just BTC.

Look at what the Big investors are doing, they are buying Bitcoin, it has
what the long term investors want, wealth security, Ethereum and
Litecoin are not going to do it.

Hardware wallet - Get one now.
4597  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people care who Satoshi is/was? on: March 11, 2021, 10:41:47 PM
Yes most of us dont want/need to know who Satoshi was, its more
the mystique behind the person or group which draws the attention.

For me its not who Satoshi was its the master stroke of being and
remaining anonymous.

Its such an extroardinary thing to be anonymous from the first public
communication right up to the last known communication through the
years to today to remain unknown, remarkable.

Only the creator(s) of Bitcoin could master that!

I liken it in a way to The Voynich manuscript for the mystique...
4598  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Atari Set to Launch Cryptocurrency Casino Featuring Atari-themed Games and NFTs on: March 11, 2021, 10:13:45 PM
I haven't heard the news about Atari for a very long time, because it's been a long time since I played Atari either. And now suddenly there is news
that Atari will launch a crypto casino, this is very good news for the crypto world. With Atari's big name as an old game company, it can attract
the interest of many game fans who really like gambling. The owner of Atari saw a great opportunity in the crypto world, finally intending to launch
a crypto casino. Hopefully this can make more and more people get to know about cryptocurrency.

I didnt know they were still alive! I havent heard anything about them in years.
It makes sense to try and modernise by moving into a crypto casino.
How many 90's and 00's kids will know Atari?

Atari, the legendary entertainment company behind Pacman,
huh ? pacman ? i thought they became famous because of the legendary game space invaders   Huh  and the pacman was popularly known because of namco .

Players who earn $DG will be able to use the tokens to get involved in the running and management of the casino.
cool . does it mean that we can get the experience of running this casino ? thats new to me and they are too kind to allow this service , for sure different types of people ( gamer , non gamer , non gambler , gambler  ) that are going to try this  . itl also be better if they will add esports along with that casino because it was related to video games

Pac Man was 1980, Space Invaders was 1978! accourding to: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_age_of_arcade_video_games
Oh man I spend hours and hours and hours at Space Invaders and Pac Man on those
table arcades.

4599  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Best Place To Store Your Seed? on: March 11, 2021, 09:54:29 PM
Why is this topic in hardware wallets section?
Maybe OP jerry0 spammer created so many topics in one minute time that he got confused  Roll Eyes

I know some people have seed word backup placed in regular envelope with instructions and then given to lawyer with other documents as a part of his will, so in case of death his family will get them with all instructions.
Worst thing you can do is to keep seed words in your head depending on your fragile memory and bringing Bitcoins with you in your grave and afterlife.

People also make interesting things for hiding hardware wallets, something like this Beethoven Trezor Safe figure, but seed words are always more important than device itself:

yup, the seedwords are indeed more important than the device.
Personally I use stainless steel plate and attach that to some
structral element of my house, not a piece of furniture.
In a disaster this would survive, just have to look for it among
the ashes/debris.

-snip-

I use a very DIY cost effective solution myself although its not really portable.
SS plate 4mm thick with the works punched into the surface then screwed
to a roof joist facing in.

4600  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] - Union / League / Super / Sevens on: March 11, 2021, 07:47:05 PM
Ah right, you recon it was a case of being worn out, over training?

No.  The oposite, the team holds back just managing to scrape into the semis (last eight teams) THEN they play hard.  The rest of the teams play hard all year and so by the time of the semis, have either hit their stride, or, slow down and fall out of the competition.

I'm always amazed no one has put a stop to it before now.

So they are so dominant that they can plod along in third gear until the
business end of the season and then hit the gas and blow all others away.

is it really obvious and talked about openly?
I can see how it would be frustrating.
