258 on the first day and with 4 wickets gone it seems the Pakistani bowlers were able to restrict the agressive batting of NZ. I still feel by the end of today the Kiwis batters will easily score 300+ runs. In case if they lose all of their wickets then still 300+ score would not be easy for Pakistani batters to chase knowing the inconsistent batting line up.

This is an alleged pitch for the next match, it has a good amount of grass so maybe things would be different tomorrow. Let's hope they don't trim grass too much or completely shaved it and turn it into another highway.  This is good news for the viewers, but bad news for punters like me who bet on the draw result thanks to the crappy pitches. Pakistan is to play against New Zealand for a long. Once after the test series Pakistan is playing ODI matches. Later during the month of April - May ODI and T20 matches are being played in home ground. This will make Pakistan get better over its future series against other teams.
They are getting worse with every game these days. Bad pitches are one of the primary reasons as to why they aren't playing well. Another reason is that several newbies aren't performing well. Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Wasim are at crease, and the former is having a test batting average of 55.86. If New Zealand gets 25 overs to chase a total of 100-110, then there is a chance for them. But if the target is 120 or higher, with ~20 overs, then the chances are that the match may end up as a draw. IMO, the Kiwis can give a short spell to Southee/Wagner, to see if they can get one of the batsmen out. At this point, they are playing spin with relative ease. Defiantly it will be a T20 now. Pakistan lead by 126 runs and 22 overs renaming and 2 wickets left. Saud is still on the pitch and he must try to take the lead to 180 to 200 only then Pakistan have a chance to draw the game. Right now, Pakistan is trailing by below 30 runs and possibly 4 players can bat which means they can manage for more than 1 session for sure and in another half session, I cannot imagine that New Zealand can score rapidly to defeat Pakistan. On papers it is an easy draw when the morning session started, but the pitch has worn off badly and the ball is spinning a lot and they lost 5 wickets and if not for the innings from Imam-ul-Haq and Sarfaraz Ahmed they would still be trailing and the New Zealand spinners are bowling well outside the leg stump expecting it to hit a crack and turn sharply and with 55 overs left in the day anything is possible. Croatia is a very strong and competitive team and they have been brilliant throughout this world cup. The way they defeated Brazil in the super 16 was great , and how they reached the semi finals and took third position is appreciating.
Croatia were in 2nd position instead world cup and this time too they maintained their performance.
Before the world cup, no one actually gave much chance for Croatia. Their performance during the qualifying tournament, and 2022–23 UEFA Nations League was not that great. But they surprised everyone by defeating the tournament favorites Brazil during the quarter-final match. However they were not competitive during the semi-finals and went down against France. Anyway they finished the tournament on a high by winning the 3rd place match in a convincing manner, as African representatives Morocco ran out of gas in the end. It's not incorrect to say Qatar 2022 was full of surprises as we saw France beaten by Tunisia in group stages and KSA beating Argentina in first match. Morrocco gave a hope to every Asian and African football playing team that fifa is open for them also. I wished Morrocco to finish 3rd but that wished remain unfulfilled. |

Pakistan recovering nicely as they are now 7 runs ahead of new zealand and important thing is both sarfraz and Imam are on the crease. Good come back by Sarfraz into test as he has made 86 in first innings and now 49 not out in second innings. He is fine with bat but need to pay attention to his skills behind wikcets. I have no idea as to how he managed to survive that without major injuries. This accident could have ended his life or career. He's one of the best cricketers at present and I hope that he recovers quickly. It's terrible news. Upon waking up, I heard this sad news. He suffered from a very dangerous accident. In accordance with reports, Rishabh Pant's knee and forehead are his main injuries. He will undergo surgery. Since he has been one of the major contributors for the last four years, the Indian test team will suffer. For India, this could be a fatal blow in the upcoming Australian series. A speedy recovery is wished to the Indian superstar. Best wishes for Pant speedy recovery. I saw some pictures of Pant on the hospital bed, and it seems like he is seriously injured. It will take a few months before he will be available for India playing 11. Can anyone share details of how he meet that fatal error? Is he is India or outside India. |

Way too risky. Pakistan can easily continue defending on this highway thanks to players like Imam, Babar etc which is why I bet on draw result at 1.18 odds. Babar Azam, who was a dependable player, is gone. Currently, Babar and Sarfaraz Ahmed are playing. The Pakistani team lost four wickets but still trailed by 63 runs. One possibility is that the match will be drawn, and the other is that New Zealand will win. For me, it is unfair to say that this game is already beyond New Zealand's control. India was in good terms with previous government of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani but Taliban are not in control of India or anyone. This decision of Afghanistan and UAE will definitely affect BCCI and future relations of them as many Afgani players participate in IPL and they had very strong terms.
I don't think that the BCCI will take any action against the Afghan players in the IPL. This time also a number of Afghan players were purchased by various IPL franchises during the auction and a fraction of their salaries will end up with the Afghanistan Cricket Board in the form of foreign player release fee. The BCCI can't ask the franchises to refrain from purchasing the Afghan players because it will be encroaching on their autonomy. Anyway, there is not much reason for the BCCI to get angry at the Afghanistan Cricket Board. It's not about money it's about politics. India no doubt have good relations with former Afghan government and they are trying there best to have same relations with current government and IPL is great way to show positive gestures towards current Afghan government. The Karachi test is going to end up as another boring draw. 90 overs remain in this match and Pakistan still have 8 wickets remaining. And the lead for New Zealand is not large enough for them to have a chance of bowling out Pakistan and then chasing the target in the same day. This series is turning out to be completely useless for both the teams. Pakistan is at 7th position (4 wins) and New Zealand at 8th position (2 wins) in the points table for the World Test Championship. Only Bangladesh is ranked lower than these two at this point.

Still not sure whether he will get a double today. Williamson is at 194 not out and New Zealand has lost 9 wickets till now. no.11 batsmen Ajaz Patel is with Williamson now. Spinners have taken almost all the wickets to fall till now, with Nauman Ali having figures of 62-4-185-3 and Abrar Ahmed having 66-7-200-5. The inexperienced Pakistani bowlers really struggled without much assistance from the pitch. Today is 4th day and some 123 overs remain in total for this match. Unless the Kiwi bowlers can come up with a miracle, the match will end up in a draw.
Kane has got his double century, and Pakistan again looks to be in trouble as they trail by 97 runs and lost 2 wickets. If New Zealand can get quick wickets in the first session of the 5th days then Newzealand might have a chance to win this test. Good decision by the selectors to remove Kholi, Rahul and Rohit from the T20 squad. KL Rahul should now be able to focus on his batting if not then he might get dropped from all format of cricket. I hope the vice captain responsibility does not affect SKY's batting. Big responsibility give to Hardik as he is the capitan and vice captain in both the format. Sanju Samson is in the squad but will he be part of 11 is still not certain. Strange Risha Panth dropped in both format in this bilateral series.
Agreed, the next t-20 WC is scheduled in 2024 so by that time Kohli and Sharma ji are going to be 36 and 37yo respectively so ideally the process of team transition should start right now and if selectors are considering this solution then prop to them. As the BCCI selects squads to play Sri Lanka in a bilateral series, some difficult decisions were made. It is important for the team transition to commence right now, as it was for their selection panel. Kohli and Rohit dropped out of the T20 squad, but how does this affect their performance? There was a time when they played like legends. It was a golden era. As the transition progresses, we'll see how it goes. Last few days ago India played two series against Bangladesh where both Rohit and Virat Kohli were there but nothing came out of their bat which led the Indian team to lose the ODI series. Other players did well when given the opportunity. Maybe the BCCI looked into those things and dropped due to lack of form even though they were once legends. Pakistan's batting looked like Pakistan would be able to put up a big score they set a target of 438 runs. As it was assumed that they are strong in bowling, this run will be enough for them. But despite the big score, New Zealand played that way. Pakistan Babar Azam and Agha Salman were two batsmen who were doing very well they both managed to score centuries. On the opposite side Tom Latham and Kane Williamson both also scored centuries. Kane Williamson remains unbeaten despite Tom Latham losing his wicket. Now New Zealand is leading by 2 runs.
After Pakistan scored 438 runs, I thought it was enough. Because their bowling line-up is very strong. We also saw a great performance by Pakistani bowlers against England. But they are not very effective against New Zealand. At the end of the third day, New Zealand collected 440 runs after losing 6 wickets. Unless Pakistan suffer a batting disaster in their second innings, this match will undoubtedly be a draw. I think New Zealand will be able to bat at least 20 overs tomorrow, and take a lead of 70-90 runs. Pakistan batting was good infact Babar Azam and Agha Salman played good but New Zealand batting is excellent they have chased target easily with help of Latham and Conway. Now kane Williamson is batting with full swing and he'll take lead to 100 runs tomorrow. |

Furthermore in my personal opinion Sethi starts with a clean chit, because the situation is totally different now and Pakistan cricket can grow a lot with the right support hence he’ll be foolish to do anything that can jeopardise their growth.
Well.. let's hope for the best. During his term, Rameez did a lot of good things. He resolved the issues between PSL franchise owners and PCB, convinced SENA nations to tour Pakistan, and started new franchise leagues such as PJL and WPSL. And more importantly he changed the format of domestic cricket as well. Najam Sethi doesn't need to do anything new. All the needs to do is to preserve the status quo. PCB achieved historic revenues under Rameez. Sethi needs to ensure that the revenue inflows continue and players (both national and domestic) benefit from it. Ramiz Raja was the best person for Pakistan cricket team and PCB and he had done soo much during his short tenure for the establishment and growth of pskdPakistani cricket but there was one thing with him that brought him to this point that he was short tempered and he doesn't go politically at all. He gave daring statements on World Cup and ICC which was a problem for Pakistan cricket in long run. So now whatever he has started and initiated will be leas by Najam Sethi hopefully in good dimensions. |

Jofra Archer is a right-arm fast bowler. And we know that fast bowlers are generally more prone to injury. Winning in cricket is unpredictable similarly injuries also happen suddenly. At the moment i think he is fully recovered his injury and now he can be regular in cricket. By using him only in T20 format, England team can get good output. He should be kept away from ODI and Test matches for few days so that he can adopt early in all the formats in cricket.
Some of the fast bowlers are more prone to injury. In India we have Jasprit Bumrah and T Natarajan who get injured at least once every year. Dale Steyn, one of the best fast bowlers in the history of cricket had his career cut short as a result of injury. On the other hand, we have bowlers such as James Anderson and Peter Siddle, who almost never gets injured. It depends a lot on the bowling action. Archer and Bumrah should seriously consider changing their bowling action, to prevent further injuries. But then, they need to maintain the pace as well. It is not that easy for a bowler to suddenly change his action. What they can do is reduce their pace and play less cricket than they are playing now. Muscle injuries are quite common with bowlers and that is why they have less career span than batters. I am still not certain whether Archer will be able to bowl in the same manner as he used to prior to his injury. Recently we had seen Shaheen Afridi struggling with his bowling after his come back from injury. If he recovers fully before the bilateral series he still would struggle in few matches and then might come to his original form. That's a struggle of fast ballers they are prone to injury due to their pace and than they will be on long break that effects their cricketing career. Shaheen Shah Afridi recovered from a knee injury and In T20 world cup his injury got strained again and now he's again on rest. So cricket boards should revise policies for fast ballers and limit their overs so that they won't get hurt again and specially check their pace and style of balling. |
