The current transfer market is super crazy, being serious in this market means spending chunks of money on overpriced players. Every club has to bid wisely and not be desperate, Chelsea are learning from their mistakes in the last window where they spent huge amounts to get Mudyrk, Enzo and to loan Felix with no result in the end.

I think Chelsea under the new owner aren't actually analyzing where they are lacking and what they need. They invested in areas where they didn't need to actually in my opinion. Their primary focus should have been defense when players like Christensen, Rudiger, Alonso left the squad back then. I feel like they lack defensively so much right now. Yes there are some potential players but they need players that are strong in defense and has experience to pair up well with Thiago Silva.

The Arsenal-City rivalry for Declan Rice shows how much a player can be overpriced. Brighton would also be looking to cash out big with Caicedo this window as he has been promised he would move.

Yeah it has become a slight difficult with City joining in for Declan Rice race. It will certainly raise the bar but lot of it depends on Gundogan's decision it seems. If Gundo stays then they will not go for Declan Rice as it seems. This month is very crucial on what will happen about Declan Rice. I feel like right now Arsenal are in pole position but things can easily go south if City really gets involved.

I agree, saying that David de Gea failed as goalkeeper for Manchester United, in my opinion, is not quite right, but I prefer to say that in his last season he was not able to perform optimally and made several fatal mistakes which resulted in losses for the team. But overall, as long as he's been in a Manchester United shirt I can say he deserves a lot between the sticks and that's not a mistake.
After all, David de Gea managed to show the best that is in him, especially during bad times, as you said during Ole's coaching, how he struggled in the defense of Manchester United.

Everyone does mistakes and De Gea does too but I don't think his contribution towards the club can be easily forgotten. He has pulled off lot of saves and I don't know but I think there will be points when other clubs interested in him but he still choose to play for United saving them lot of costs going out and looking for new goalkeeper and let alone secure it. Yeah he did mistakes but I don't think he deserves the sticks at all despite the contribution he made.

Right now, if you ask me there are only few goalkeepers that have been that committed to a club for such a long time. So in my books, despite the mistakes De Gea made I still consider him as one of the legend of the club.

There are two years left on Odegaard's contract now and he answered a question about his contract like in the image. He says that there is still a long time but 2 years is not that long for a player in my opinion. He is a wonderful talent and his performance this season just mesmerized me. He took a big responsibility about scoring many goals just like a striker.

2 years is a long time but if some club actually approaches him and gets a verbal agreement then things can go south by the time contract nears the end. From his words, it definitely gives a feeling that he is gonna say "No" to such approaches but really I think Odegaard needs to be secured since he is so much crucial to Arsenal right now.

This must be the most profitable transfer for Arsenal recently. Because they signed him for 35 million euros and his current market value is 80 million. His high effort has resulted in really well so far. Bayern Munich, PSG and Barcelona were interested in him according to rumours but it was around the end of May.

Yes, Odegaard has really become profitable to us. But I think he can give a lot of contribution to Arsenal and we need him right now since Arsenal are developing their squad. He should at least stay until our squad becomes strong and has mentality like Madrid. I am not surprised by the interest of other clubs on him but he is gonna say no for sure to them.

I don't know why Luciano Spalletti will just turn his back on Napoli when the star is shining brighter, I guess the guy did not believe in the second time of a good performance like this season, so, he stylishly exited. As for Rudi Garcia, I don't know much about the guy but I believe him as an old player and coach that he would be able to deliver in his own little way. I will not cast much doubt in a good performance of Napoli in the next season, but that is only if they do not eventually sell Victor Osimhen.

Maybe he just wants to take a break? Isn't that normal amongst managers too. We have seen lot of managers taking a break and its understandable with the way they have managed such top teams competing in lot of competitions so lot of pressure is there when it comes to managing. I don't think its "turning back" on Napoli as Spalletti left Napoli and just simply taking a break. However, it would have been different if he left and went on to manage a rival of Napoli in Serie A but that's not the case here.

@Avirunes there’s a rumour which says that Pep will depart in 2025 and I’ll be super glad when he does because until he’s at City it’s very difficult to stop them from winning the Premier League. Furthermore I believe in the work Ten Hag is doing but if he won’t be backed by the new owner then it’ll all go to waste because Manchester United need to spend big this season literally in all the departments (goal keeper, striker etc).

Well that's a rumour and yes he has contract until 2025 so most likely will be clear after that. From his message to Real Madrid after winning the CL, it could be slightly interpreted that right now he is thinking about long term at City.

Ten Haag can really lead United well and develop a competitive squad in coming years but I still believe it will take time despite backed by the new owner.

If Guardiola continues to manage this team for a long time, he can do as you say. But he has been managing for 7 years, how many more years will he want to continue in this team? I think after a while he might get bored and want to move to a different team or retire.
Guardiola's influence on the team is huge, the reason the team is at its current level is not just because it has good players. Pep's effort to hold the team together and his tactical success is too great to ignore Smiley

Nothing can be said for clear what he thinks but I think he still is young as compared to other managers and can really give the club a lot. He could be bored but what do you think of the competition he is gonna move next then? There are only two leagues left for him then- Serie A and Ligue 1 and I don't think these two are that competitive as compared to PL and he will be much bored at there.

Manchester city after getting the treble winner this year will definitely get so many bonuses that they have started to move to get new players in the summer. Gvardiol was one of the stars in last year's world cup and his performance with Leipzig is still fairly stable.

If I recall it properly then I think Romano had a tweet around World Cup about Gvardiol and City being interested in him before the WC. It's not a surprise and City seems desperate to get him from Leipzig. Personal terms seems to be agreed already but Leipzig expect a good amount of bid and I think they are expecting somewhat around 100m Euro at least for the defender.

Also City have opened talks with Chelsea over fee for Kovacic with personal terms already agreed. It really does seem that they are moving in transfer window now.
467  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: June 16, 2023, 12:16:06 PM
Chasing Manchester United premier league win will be very difficult or impossible to achieve, atleast in this our time. 6 English Premier League trophies means 6 seasons and looking at it, the highest Manchester City can go before being dethroned as the indisputable champions of England is 1 or 2 seasons. If you look very well, Newcastle is just building and Manchester United is gradually coming back to form and Liverpool is there to always contest. There will be a time the reign of Manchester City will also come to an end.

I think it is not that much difficult given how Guardiola has managed City ever since he took over as manager. He has made then PL champions 5 times out of 7 seasons and that really shows the kind of spectacular record Guardiola hold rights now. I think in 8-9 seasons he can make them equal to United if things goes like this. City are in control in whichever way you see and despite United and Newcastle improving, I don't see them getting dominant the way City are right now. I would say its very much achievable if Guardiola says for long term.

As far as I remember and I am aware that AS Roma has improved its performance because of Mourinho because before Morinho became the head coach at AS Roma, the reality is that AS Roma was always difficult to finish in the European zone. Therefore, it is not surprising that AS Roma plans to extend Mourinho's contract because I am quite sure, if Mourinho leaves, it is likely that AS Roma's performance will fall again.

What Mourinho has done at Roma is really commendable. Despite the lack of proper players he wanted he still managed to really compete with what squad he had in the last season. I think Roma should really buy some good players to make it more competitive. Mourinho has really done a lot over the years and I feel that if Roma had deep pockets and gave Mourinho what he wanted then he would have brought some really big achievements for Roma.

Right now Ndicka seems to be only one being bought by Roma so far, let's see what target they will be able to finalize by the end of the transfer window.

Ready with popcorn?

Oh yes, there is lot of tension between the club and Mbappe but Mbappe has been very clear about his stance but PSG are the ones dragging it the wrong way. Now that this has started, I am wondering how this is gonna end. As of now, Mbappe will leave if a proper bid acceptable to PSG arrives.

Arsenal can add more money for the next bid. The problem is some big clubs are also interesting to sign him as well. Arsenal must try to agree with price tag that being given by westham.

Talks between Arsenal and Rice is good and which is why despite other clubs being interested, we are leading the race. I would say a bit over 100m Euro mark should be OK for West Ham to accept. Rice can give us really a good edge in midfield

Even manchester city and chelsea have been rumored interested to sign him. I hope that city will try to buy him from westham. He is a valuable player for the future.

Last time I checked, City were advanced in Kovacic to City while Chelsea have been busy selling players and negotiating about their price tags. City might go for him but Chelsea in current situation, I don't think so.

He will able to become a replacement for gundogan once he leaves from manchester city. City will able to give what westham wanted easily.

*If he leaves*. There are lot of clubs interested in Gundogan right now but let's not forget that City has put a one year contract extension also before him. So its Gundogan's choice right now where he goes.

Arsenal are reported to be interested in Kai Havertz who has two years left on his contract at Chelsea [1]. Recently Real Madrid also were reported to be interested in Havertz but seems to have backed off after Chelsea tag on Havertz of 75-80m Euro around. 75m Euro was also reported to Arsenal and Arsenal also seems to uninterested in paying that much. But from Chelsea point of view, it is understandable given the price they paid to get Havertz from Leverkusen.

That price is too high for Arsenal, even if Chelsea want to keep the price of £75 million, it is likely that Arsenal will step back and prefer the purchase of Declan Rice from West Ham over Kai Havertz, it was also said in Fabrizio's statement that Real Madrid would not pay more than £50 million for Kai Havertz so according to some media the price set by Chelsea is indeed too high.

It's possible that Chelsea will lower the price, it could be that Kai Havertz will target him more quickly, on the other hand, as long as Real Madrid don't want it to be too high because they are eyeing other strikers who are more promising than Havertz

Yeah saw the *new* update from Romano and it seems that Chelsea might be able to go below 75m Euro since player also wants the move to happen. Declan Rice is priority for Arsenal so there is no way that they will try to sign Kai Havertz when they are near to making Declan Rice to Arsenal final. Let's see how far the negotiation goes and how much of price tag will be set on Havertz.

I would say get things moving(for Havertz move) after signing Declan Rice as Xhaka is set to leave and we need someone strong in defensive midfield and Declan Rice is the right piece for it.

Chelsea management are doing as much as possible to recover some of the money that they spent during the transfer season by choosing to put the sell off price of these players that they want to let go at very high price. Arsenal will be discouraged to continue because he will be too much for them to want to buy at that price with Declan Rice deal. Liverpool were at one time interested in Mason Mount but the price on his head discouraged them.

I would say there are two purposes actually: One that they will be able to recover the money like you said but they have to due to FFP regulations. Secondly, they need to make some space also in the squad. Given the situation Chelsea are in they might have to negotiate the player price tag they set if there aren't many interested in that player. This report [1]says that Chelsea will be making around 200m Euro worth of player sales as the FFP deadline (30th June) is approaching.

Anyway, Mbappe is indeed very suitable to play at Real Madrid. Because yes, at a young age at least Mbappe was not a greedy person with money, because at his young age Mbappe should have won many titles and to achieve many titles then of course Real Madrid is the right club. But yes, if Mbappe still prioritizes money, then maybe forever Mbappe will play at PSG with minimal achievements, of course this will be a regret in his old age. So, because Mbappe still has a big chance of getting a lot of awards, this moment is indeed the right moment for Mbappe to leave PSG and play for Real Madrid.

It was never about the money, I think. It was more about achievements. A young player will always think that a big club like PSG with money can bring in a better squad and will get some great achievements. Although PSG were able to win Ligue 1 and other cups from time to time but they failed to win CL which matters the most. A club like Madrid which has a squad with winning mentality can really give Mbappe the achievements he is looking for. But given how things went down last season, will Real Madrid go again for Mbappe this window or maybe next(when his contract ends). Right now, he just recently denied the rumours about him joining Madrid this transfer window as he wants to honor the contract but Romano has reported that PSG either wants the contract extension now or to be sold in this transfer window.
474  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: June 13, 2023, 11:52:38 AM
For now I haven't received any news regarding players who are really suitable for Real Madrid apart from Kane. it's just that Real Madrid are unlikely to go after Kane. But for next season, maybe Real Madrid will focus on pursuing Mbappe, who reportedly has only one year left on his contract at PSG and will not be renewed. so that next season Real Madrid will definitely want Mbappe no matter what.

The timing of Mbappe refusing for contract extension when Madrid has a striker option seems too perfect. It is being reported that PSG are furious at Mbappe about it and have no option but to sell him only. It's a perfect opportunity for Real Madrid here as they will be getting a perfect replacement and plus they have been targeting Mbappe since last season. Or Madrid can wait and can get him for free when his contract ends in June, 2024 but given how the space has been left by Benzema's departure I think now is the right moment.

Man Utd set to launch opening 'bid' for Harry Kane alternative amid concern over transfer

[...]
Quote
Manchester United are preparing to launch their first bid for Frankfurt star Randal Kolo Muani.
[...]

I am not surprised by United about to approach Spurs for Harry Kane. There is no surprise that United needs a striker right now despite the form of Rashford. Harry Kane can give a strong edge to United's squad for sure but are Spurs prepared to allow him to leave and most importantly do Kane wants to leave as well? If he and Spurs wants the change then it can go smoothly.

About Kolo Mauni, I am not much sure about him and I also feel likes Kane is top priority right now as compared to Kolo Muani. Harry Kane is an experienced player and knows PL too well and United can't have a better target than him given the situation right now. It's the best opportunity for United and hope that Spurs and Kane wants that change.
479  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: June 12, 2023, 07:41:07 AM
They won't let him go as a free agent. That would be the worst case scenario for Tottenham. He will leave Tottenham this summer and they are not even in the position anymore to ask for 100 million because if nobody is willing to pay that money, the risk is too high that he will indeed leave as a free agent and the incentive for Kane is quite high. If a club doesn't have to pay a transfer fee, they can offer Kane a massive signing bonus and Kane knows that as well. His position is comfortable and I am sure he is looking forward to all sorts of negotiations. He will finalize those negotiations as the winner. That is already certain.
as I said in another thread that Tottenham actually don't need to think too much about holding or extending the contract with Kane but if Kane can be sold at a higher price wouldn't that be better and being able to buy several other quality players to be able to strengthen Tottenham.
I don't know if this is just a rumor or if it's true that Kane will leave Tottenham but I'm just more convinced that Tottenham can be better without Kane if they improve their finances and get some new players or young players with more quality.

At the beginning of the season two years ago when Conte was about to be appointed as manager, Man City actually put a big bid of around 120m+ Euro bid for Harry Kane to Spurs but Spurs denied it right away. After then when many had their doubts about Kane then he confirmed on social platform that he is gonna stay at Spurs. I think lot of this depends on whether he wants to leave or not. Harry Kane respects Spurs a lot but a player of that stature needs to win trophies.

Now lets compare two players- Harry Kane and Kyle Walker. Kyle Walker was a Spurs player but he moved to City n 2017 and over all these years he has won 5 PL, 1 CL, 2 FA Cup, 4 EFL Cup. And Kane at Spurs, hasn't achieved anything. If Kane had moved to City in 2021, then he would have won 3 PL, 1 CL, 1 FA Cup and 1 EFL Cup and including a treble in a season and that would have been massive for him. Kane has to move as I don't see Spurs improving a lot by the end of his career.
480  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 12, 2023, 05:42:52 AM
David Raya (Brentford) who performed very well for Brentford since their promotion is reported to be close to agreeing to personal terms with Spurs [1] and is gonna be a long contract. However, discussion between the clubs is still yet to happen but fee of around 40m Euro is reported to be set by Brentford.

40M is decent with the way he played for Brentford but Spurs thinks it is too high. Possible that both clubs will negotiate and come to a fee where both agrees on. Even 35m Euro would be decent for both considering Raya has set his mind to move and has one year left on his contract.
