Before entering in this discussion if you wanna read a little bit on PoS/PoW you can do it here (page 3). I've seen a lot of people in the community and even outside of it asking if/when we are gonna add PoS. Now that Reddcoin's new PoSV algorithm was announced I'd like to revive the discussion and get the feeling of what YOU, the community, think. I'll start and present you with my thoughts: I think PoS has it's advantages and it would fit nice into the concept of economic education we are trying to persuade, the "save coins in your piggybank and be reward for it" feature is really good one and it's something we should heavily take in consideration, I also like the environmental friendly position that PoS takes. In the other hand we have PoW and my honest opinion is that we should stick with it. And I have a simple reason why. Piggycoin's main objective is to educate kids and newcomers about cryptocurrencies and that's what we should be focusing on. The biggest cryptocurrencies are without any doubt PoW ones, so our code should be as similar as possible to those. I'm not saying economic education isn't another important aspect of this coin, don't get me wrong. I'm just saying crypto education is far more important to us than economic education. I'd love to hear your opinion too! ps: this has nothing to do with #piggyweek, just a random community brainstorm.

Will the announcement be made in an update to the first post, I assume? I don't want to have to hunt through a hundred pages for each when it comes up.
Looking forward to it! Piggycoin is one of a VERY few altcoins with a real niche and a valid point to its existence. People are going gaga today spiking up coins that won't even exist in a month, while Piggycoin will still be growing at that point.
Yes, we just created this topic so people don't have to scroll through endless pages in the ANN thread to see the annoucements... Anyways, let's keep the conversation in this one, shall we?

What is announcement week?
Maybe I will be wishing I'd held the 3 million PIG I amassed a week ago instead of selling it for a nice little profit. I was thinking I'd started something, until I ran across word of this...
Hey! We're gonna have a "piggyweek", this will be a week where we will announce a new thing each day, we have lots of good news, don't miss it! When does the piggyweek start? We were pointing to the first week of May but it can be sooner, we are finishing off the last projects.

I purchased the Piggycoin Mug 11oz was 30p but this Piggyville mug is too expensive. Is something wrong with the price? Can I buy it with the same price 30p? Hey! We are still making the final touches in the store, I won't process your order if you don't want. The prices for the mugs are 15 euro * pig/euro.

Testing the shop. Look at all those cheap prices! Good question ... I think launching in steps would be the best bet, maybe even just 1 a week, then do a writeup on the main blog and hopefully one of these will get picked up by the media.
It's hard to know which items would do well, maybe iphone/android cases since most everyone has a smartphone and the kids t-shirts. Just curious what demographic piggycoin would appeal too?
I really applaud you guys effort, most coin devs do no where near this amount of support development, even some of the bigger name coins. Maybe need to brainstorm how to get a mediabuzz about the coin or do some PR stunt to get the name out there.
I was thinking once most of the above is live, I'd do a reddit ad campaign targeting either parenting or teenagers?
I thought about the week thing too, maybe launch one thing each day? Has you can see we will offer iphone cases, i'll add galaxy cases too. The PR thing is the hardest thing to do, we need to prepare something big to get the name out there, I think that's one of the things that can project us. And a reddit campaign would be awesome! Target parents and kids subreddits.

Changed the title and I've been reading on this algo thing. If we change I think X11 is the way to go.
Another thought is to consider POS, that seems really popular now, it could also teach the kids the concept of 'earning interest' and saving ... This would seem to also better secure the network with such a low net hashrate I completely agree with PoS; hopefully it is implemented soon. POS might be a good idea, we need to discuss it further but I'd like to finish the current projects first. About the PiggyStore. I was thinking about starting off with 2 products between kids t-shirts, custom monopoly games, iphone cases, hoodies, mugs, clocks, calendars or bags. What would you guys choose?
