461  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: my linux box was hacked today and almost 400 BTC were stolen! on: June 23, 2011, 12:56:29 AM
send out the 4 and sell the other 6.
If you sell them for bitcoins, once you get them distribute them into tiny caches seems like the only option.
462  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 8:09 am in japan! on: June 22, 2011, 11:33:35 PM
will today we get our accounts back?

pretty please??

Also, who will compensate.

I propose:
1 BTC (because email+password leaked to internet etc)
+ 1% of account balance at rollback point (USD/17 + BTC) for the stress of loosing all money
+ 1% of account balance per day waiting  of lost interest

And Kevin DAY should get imo like 50% of monthly mtgox profit (last month) because he saved their ass - what if otherwise hackers would be taking out not 600 but 600 BTC x 100 accounts?

Interesting proposal.

You can get your account back here.

url shorteners were such a bad idea.

Whatever is on the otherside of the link it doesn't matter, most people have already made their claims.
I'm talking about getting into our accounts again, "logging in", checking everything, seeing what happened to our accounts, etc.

i ran it in a sandbox and it told me about buffer overflows.

But the other video of using a mini fridge for cooling was cool.
467  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: trades over the weekend at Mt Gox were -1.3% not -0.65% on: June 22, 2011, 02:13:25 PM
even if I suck at calculator.

it was happening.

I was being charged 1.3% each trade.

Yeah, I really believe you now. Especially since you've such a great grasp of mathematics and how mt gox takes commission.

when I noticed it I typed "25 minus 0.65%" into google.

the result was different than my logbook, it didn't make sense.

so i typed "25 minus 1.3%" and it matched.

I don't care if you believe me or not.

If Mt. Gox still has the CSV associated with my account I'll show you.

"25 minus 1.3%" gives you the wrong value, you need to type "25 minus 1.3% of 25". So if your story is true, it does not mean that mt gox was charging 1.3%. You just got your numbers wrong.

Honestly, the google thing looks like a bug. It should be able to calculate "25 minus 1.3%" correctly. So it isn't completely your fault.

Did your trades happen to be for 2 btc, because if so then your story checks out, the numbers are just wrong because of google.

I was making a lot of trades between 1-39BTC trying to figure out how the bots were working with the percentages, while also trying to get back to my 50BTC I started with.
Was also trying to learn how to beat the bots who were setting up and making huge amounts of sub BTC (0.00XXX) trades.

As You, Savaron and benCoder showed me, I was in error.
468  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: trades over the weekend at Mt Gox were -1.3% not -0.65% on: June 22, 2011, 01:50:43 PM
It is wrong to google "25 minus 1.3%".

wrong: 25 minus 1.3% = 24.98700 ==> -0,052%
right: 25 minus (1.3% of 25) = 24.67500 ==> -1,3%

25 minus (0,65% of 25) = 24,8375

That makes sense, thank-you very much.
469  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: trades over the weekend at Mt Gox were -1.3% not -0.65% on: June 22, 2011, 01:39:54 PM
Damn, you guys made me feel like a retard for a bit.

That wasn't very nice.

that shit ^ right there is a calculator.

see:

25 "plus" (1.3%) = 25.01300 <--------THAT MUCH
473  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: trades over the weekend at Mt Gox were -1.3% not -0.65% on: June 22, 2011, 01:13:53 PM
Yes,

place a sell for 25 BTC

you sell

25BTC plus (1.3%) = 25.01300 sold.

you place a buy for 25 BTC

you buy

25BTC minus (1.3%) = 24.98700 bought.

had this happening all over my logbook during the weekend.

That isn't even 1.3%. What are you smoking? 1.3% of 25 is .325, not .013. If you are going to troll something random at least get the math right.

You are charged 0.65%

if you bought AND sold, you are charged 0.65% twice. Thus 1.3%

That is basic knowledge for daytraders.

How did this not register with you?

EACH TRADE, BUY AND SELL were being charged 1.3%.
476  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: trades over the weekend at Mt Gox were -1.3% not -0.65% on: June 22, 2011, 12:50:53 PM
did anyone even notice this was happening?
477  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / trades over the weekend at Mt Gox were -1.3% not -0.65% on: June 22, 2011, 12:46:18 PM
I have noticed others that are curious as to why this was happening too.
Everytime I bought and sold on mtgox the trade charge was 1.3%.

that is double.

Then it crashed sunday night.

will anyone else confirm this was happening to them?
478  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Making it public: I have moved the disputed 643.2771 BTC into an escrow account on: June 22, 2011, 12:34:10 PM
Heaven forbid some company that made 0.65% of millions of $$ A day should have to take a minor loss!  Kevin.. take the money and run and dont listen to a buncha random guys on the internet.

Losses like those are what incentivize companies to spend $$ on security.  2 guys earning 0.65% of millions a day is just greed without laying out some bucks to get a security guy on staff.. anyone who saw that website knew they were skimping on costs/safety.

And I hear the money went into buying luxury office space and stuff like that, and flippant remarks about making a shoddy service to 'incentivize competition' or whatever..  and the computer geeks all saying well u should no all these best practices would cry if some carnival ride operator used cheap screws or non-code building materials then the guy scoffs and says 'well everyone should know that that chamfer joint requires 4" of thickness so it must be the CUSTOMERS fault cuz everyone should know that'

it was 1.3% the entire operating weekend.

479  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Mt Gox Master Plan on: June 22, 2011, 12:09:49 PM
especially with the 1.3% Mt. Gox was putting on each trade during the entire operating weekend.
