461  Other / Meta / Re: New Year = New Password (...and new you, too!) on: December 29, 2023, 10:44:35 PM

Set your password to ten to twelve characters - but not ones that are only found on your phone (otherwise you'll be stuck logging on on you cell phone)  - source a random password generator app and don't use words or phone numbers/birthdays.  (which app do you use?)

Although password are suppose to be something that shouldn’t be easy to crack down easily by others i will say it is not something I will advice one to over do. First red flag is to rely on password generators online rather do a self password and use characters, uppercase and small letters and numbers. Do not use specialized keyboards to create or write down passwords. But overall I think the problem of worrying too much about passwords to the forum has reduce to me, the 2FA is added advantage and also the staking of one’s bitcoin address is another. A little tip if your account is permanently logged in try to sometimes log out to log in so that you can remember the password one or more time. But be advice that the best place to save passwords is offline in a secure place
462  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Not everyone deserves to hear of your winning in gambling. on: December 29, 2023, 10:30:27 PM
Very good advice and just as you said,  every story is either a motivation or course for depression,  taking a none gambler for example,  when you tell them how you use $3 to win $200 within a few hours can motivate them to start gambling without even checking the risk that is involved in gambling and that is why we have to be private as most as we can,  because we don't know who our stories may motivate and how it may motivate them on the long run.

It is always key to keep a secret life because it is the first point of protection. People can never destroy something they don’t have knowledge about. Concerning the issue betting or gambling, I don’t see much of a thing there about advising someone because this could be a motivation for the person, the problem remains how you pass the message, if you keep on bragging about how you win, it might inspire them to continue but if you actually relay the message continuously how it is for them to go back to having knowledge before coming back to gambling it will at least inspire true learning by that person
463  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help me to accelerate my transaction on: December 29, 2023, 03:11:40 PM
you can use ViaBTC service to accelerate. Additionally, you need to rebroadcast the transaction, otherwise it will be dropped.

I don’t think the viabtc service will be available for him since bots have taken over it, before he could broadcast any of the transaction it will be fill. Also the transaction looks like a very large transaction in size and viabtc has limit of 500KB.

Also he doesn’t need to rebroadcast the transaction because this fees are not looking like something that will come down now and as such a rebroadcast will mean with same transaction fee again. The best thing is for the transaction to be dropped so that he can broadcast another new transaction with a high transaction fee since he can’t do the rbf bumping method.
464  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: December 28, 2023, 09:26:27 PM
Leverkusen have no star players in their squad. But if we compare Leverkusen's overall squad performance then we have to say that this team is very strong. This team is yet to lose any match in the Bundesliga. They also drew the match 2-2 against Bayern Munich. At the same time, they have shown great dominance in every match of the Europa League. Leverkusen are also unbeaten in the Europa League and have managed to win all their matches. Leverkusen conceded only 3 goals in 6 matches in the Europa League and scored 19 goals. So this group cannot be called weak. Leverkusen are likely to win both the Bundesliga and Europa League titles. If Xabi receives big funds in the winter transfer, he will be able to strengthen the team.

I will disagree with that statement that They d not have stars, I think they do have stars but it is not a star studded team like the Bayern Munich team. The likes of  Xhaka are stars, Florian Writz is also a star already since his breakthrough last season and that’s why his Markets value is growing higher everyday. Also in the Bundesliga, Jonas Hoffman is a star too. This guy joined with the others have been the back bone of the team. Also at the defense i nearly forgot about Jonathan TAH who is also a rock solid defender for both club and country.

We all can say Leverkusen took us by surprise but I will say they actually looked like a club that will definitely threaten since from last season when Xabi Alonso took over. The club were in relegation battle until his appointment where he took the team to Europa League after falling just a little short off the champions league spot. I had the believe from them that they will go all the way this season and they are proving that already
465  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: December 28, 2023, 09:03:21 PM
Without luck it's bullshit. Several teams that reached the Champions League final including Real Madrid because to luck. In one season, Real Madrid lost in the first leg in the knockout round, but they were always able to come back when they played at home in the second leg to reach the final. Isn't that luck other than just hard work and team ability?

Something like that never happens every season to the same team, in fact last season Real Madrid had to admit defeat to Manchester City until Manchester City finally won its first title in the Champions League. Luck is part of the result of a game, this includes sports and whatever you do.

Yes there are times teams get unlucky and another get lucky. But in sport before you get that luck you have to show character and tenacity to stand the test of time. I remember one of the matches in the games you pointed out. The Madrid miraculous win against Man City, i wouldn’t outrightly call it luck because the Madrid players showed character and were in believe until the end of match. The part were there was luck was Mendy Goal clearance from Grealish cross, that was the moment that saved Madrid.

If we talk about luck, it seems to me that Barcelona were helped only by luck that they were able to take the first place in the group, although they did not have strong opponents. If we look at Inter's game, we can say that luck is only a small part of it.

Barcelona had a fairly good group the thing that got them easily promoted is that they won their home matches and that’s one thing about playing the champions league, win all your home games and try to take some points off your opponents in the away games
466  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: December 27, 2023, 10:30:54 PM
Man City pull things back into their favor after being down 1-0 at 29 mins against Everton. The game ends 1-3 in favor of Man city and City climb back into top 4. City are still in contention for the title, as they were having a slow phase during this time last year as well. I think they are just ironing out their kinks and experimenting their strats just so they could perfect their play when it really matters, the 2nd half of the season. They have the talent and a winning pedigree, I'm sure they will surely contest for the title this season again.

With the club World Cup over I think Pep and his boys can now fully focus on this season’s task and see how they can turn around a season that hasn’t started so well base on their standard. The first half against Everton showed us the display/performance of Manchester city this season and the second was a typical show of how ruthless and good Manchester city can be when their on top of their game. This win now takes them within five points gap from the table leaders Liverpool and also with a game at hand, Should they win that game then we all can say that they are definitely back into the title race once again. Although I still count them among the favourites but with their continuous injury woes I feel they would fall short if if continues because the team is not having that much of a squad depth like last season to deal with it
467  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: December 27, 2023, 10:01:55 PM
Talking about Arsenal who will try to make an offer to Osimhen I don't seem sure if Osimhen can be brought to Arsenal because the price is very high and on the one hand Napoli actually don't want to sell this player and this is what I know from several people who say about this too said the same thing.
Nothing is impossible, that's true, but still several big clubs also want this player, such as Liverpool and Real Madrid, but there is no certainty and what is certain is that it will be difficult to bring in Osimhen before his contract at Napoli approaches the end.

I have tried to analyze the Arsenal team and how they will cope with Victor Osimhen as the striker and seriously it will be the near perfect fit for Arsenal’s team and Arteta’s pattern. Arsenal are a possession club and they need a standing striker that is also every good in the air to help win their aerial battle and I will say Osihmen is currently one of the best in that battle. The problem now is Arsenal just of recent splashed out a whopping 100 million on Declan Rice and another 100-150 might be much for them and considering FFP they will be wary. Also Osihmen isn’t much of an Arsenal lover as he declears he used to watch Manchester United or Chelsea when he was younger and also picked Drogba as his idol then Chelsea has an upper hand in the bid war.

The club I will want him to move to is Real Madrid because to me they have the resources to buy him and also the current squad will just be a walk through for Osihmen to break into the starting eleven. Also his dream of winning the BO one day could be accomplished there because it is the place were greats are made
468  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin POW to POS the key? on: December 27, 2023, 09:47:21 PM
After switching to POS, the gas fee on Ethereum network became cheaper but it's still on a higher scale compared to other networks the offers similar so its not a solution. And there is no way that Bitcoin will ever switch to PoS and if it does then there is no reason for people to trust Bitcoin anymore because its not going to be as decentralized as it used to be.

We are mixing this things up, Ethereum didn’t actually switch to POS to solve any scalability problem, but rather they we’re looking for a way to reduce the energy consumption by the POW method according to them. This switch resulted into to validators been the verifiers of transactions and this validators are selected base on the amount of ETH Staked, although they say they shuffle the validators but still instead of all node been able to verify transactions like bitcoin it still looks like a centralized system since it is a group of people doing it.

I don’t see bitcoin switching to POS been a good solution to improve its scalability because if it actually solves the problem ethereum wouldn’t be looking at going into danksharding as scalability solution
469  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ELI5 - Transaction Fees on: December 27, 2023, 09:02:11 PM
Fees as you know are tips paid to miners to get your transaction been included into the next block. In bitcoin there is no standard or default amount set as transaction fee rather it depends on how congested the bitcoin network is at that time. There are some block explorers like mempool.space that suggest fee rates. For you to get your transaction confirmed in the next block you need to pay a higher fee according to those fee rates set by some of these explorers, although it is not a criteria but it’s best since mining pools sort there transactions into be included into blocks base on the fees paid.

Transaction fees are calculated base on the size of that transaction and that’s why you see discrepancies on the amounts usually paid for transactions and also the address formats matters too. Below is how they are calculated.

Legacy addresses starts from 1
Nested segwit starts from 3 (although not only nested segwit starts from 3)
Segwit version 0 starts from bc1q
Segwit version 1 starts from bc1p (pay-to-taproot)

This is the formula necessary for the calculation:

Formula:
For legacy address: vbyte= Input*148 + output*34 + 10 plus or minus input
For nested segwit: vbyte= Input*93 + output*32 + 10 plus or minus input
For segwit version 0: vbyte= Input*68 + output*31 + 10 plus or minus input
For pay-to-taproot: vbyte= Input*57.5 + output*43 + 10 plus or minus input

To know more about the input and output virtual size: https://bitcoinops.org/en/tools/calc-size/
To know more about the transaction virtual size: https://jlopp.github.io/bitcoin-transaction-size-calculator/
For mempool (beginners): https://mempool.space/
Mempool for advanced users: https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#BTC%20(default%20mempool),24h,weight

For example:
If you use the vbyte calculator or that formula above for 1 input and 2 outputs for native segwit addresses, you will get 110 vbyte as the virtual size of 1 input 2 outputs transaction.

To check the fee rate, click on the above second to the last, or last link.

Assuming the fee rate is 5 sat/vbyte.

Fee rate = fee ÷ vbyte

Fee = fee rate * vbyte

Fee = 5 * 110

Fee = 550 sat (0.0000055 BTC). I mean for 1 input and 2 outputs for segwit version 0.

Which means the higher the fee rate, the higher the fee. As mempool is becoming more congested, the fee rate will increase and the fee will increase.

Also if you understand ehat I explained above, you will noticed that as the input count is increasing, the fee will also increase.

Also as the output count is increasing, the fee is also increasing. But if you send to two different addresses separately, the fee would be more. So we can still say increase in the output will make the fee to decrease, despite that the fee is increasing, but lower than sending to each addresses separately.

From the virtual sizes, you can also know that you can save more in fee if you use segwit version 0 and pay-to-taproot addresses while legacy addresses have the highest fee.

Also you will know that pay-to-taproot will be good for consolidation, while segwit version 0 for paying to many addresses.
470  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Anyone can succeed as a bitcoin trader on: December 26, 2023, 10:35:03 PM

I suspect that people who are interested in crypto academies are newbies eager to learn, rather than traders.

All learners of a thing are actually newbies to it, an established trader wouldn’t be going there except as a tutor.

Quote
Yes. But that still doesn't prove that there are more bitcoin traders than bitcoin holders.

Definitely the difference is clear, I was just pointing it out that traders too aren’t that little in number, in fact there are quite number of holders who also trade daily. They have some coins in holding as back up in case they lose out on trading they can bounce back to something
471  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Anyone can succeed as a bitcoin trader on: December 26, 2023, 09:21:40 PM
What statistics? I don't think that's right.  To most people Bitcoin's a long play, not a quick flip.  Sure, some traders might be making bank from all the volatility.  But those day traders are the minority, imho.

Traders in my opinion are currently large in number and you can easily see this with the new update of people opening crypto academy where they teach others about crypto. The most hardest part in trading is learning the Technical Analysis, those with this knowledge are traders that earn even a little daily by placing trades mostly on Alticoins because of their volatility.

The reason many traders actually fail in trading can be traced to greed which forces them to  either use a very high capital or high leverage.

OP it is not at easy as you think, if overcoming addicted to something is much easier I think we wouldn’t be having to consult Counselors or therapist to actually help. Everyone has a way they deal with stuffs for some People once they get into something it is hard for them to get out and this addiction is as a result of their expectations from that stuff.

Most people that start gambling start it on a wrong foot which is they believe they easily become rich from, rather than treating it as a game and if it doesn’t happen they stick to betting or gambling and then the addiction sets in. For some people at some point they identify the danger easily and back out but for some they can’t which is why we are created different
473  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: have a question about cancel a transaction on: December 25, 2023, 10:11:09 PM
Difficulty adjustment right now isn't that much so if OP can simply put his TXID here, we can see if it's already confirmed or not. And depending on the fees on how low it is because it is also changing from time to time.

I don’t think difficulty adjustment has much of a thing to do about bitcoin congestion. Rather it is to adjust the average time it is expected to get a block confirmed to the default time of 10 minutes. This changes is caused by either a higher hashrate or a lower one. This adjustment helps to keep in check some bitcoin protocols like the halving period which happens every four years. The only thing that actually reduces the congestion on the mempool is when lesser transactions are made.

Also it is not just advisable to OP to just show his TXID everywhere as it can affect its privacy rather he can simply use the block explorer himself to check the status of the transaction
474  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some tips to help protect yourself from crypto scam on: December 25, 2023, 09:25:04 PM
The most recent gist. BE CAREFUL OF FAKE TWITTER ACCOUNTSS.

Recently, scammers have turned twitter (X APP) to their abode. Every time a legit project make a post on their page, the scammers post immediately after the original post (IF YOU ARE NOT VIGILANT, YOU WILL FALL VICTIM)

Twitter is seriously becoming a den of scammers the way the telegram app is. The issue of this twitter is first made worse when the current owner (Elon Musk) decided to make the blue tick a form of subscription which was actually a sign before of a reputable account. Social media is always risky to take information from most especially that which concerns anything monetary related. Just as it is on the OP’s thread it is always good to first make your own proper research before investing or do anything.
475  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: December 25, 2023, 09:02:27 PM
Chelsea's dilemma is still on as they lost their last 3 games out of 4 and having 10th spot after spending huge amount on quality players which are fail to give their best after having spot into Chelsea is surely wired situation for the management and fans as well but here we have no quick solution now it's time for them to give more chance to Pochettino which is capable of bringing positive changes and have enough experience to do things without any doubt.

I wouldn’t call Chelsea players quality players but rather talents with potentials because most of them haven’t proved their best in the top league before. Almost all of them are young players which is not bad to start a rebuild with but the problem is Chelsea as a club at ambitious to either be at the top or be contending for the tittle which sincerely is a task too much for this young and new squad that haven’t played together before. My opinion is Chelsea should forget about winning any important trophies for now and focus on the rebuilding of the squad with that less pressure Chelsea could play better and starts been consistent. Then after two years we can start accessing the team to see maybe it is that young squad or the coach.

I don't think Aston Villa will win the league, in fact I don't even think they'll qualify for the champions league because I don't think they'll be able to keep up this form and compete with the other teams till the end. These teams are in good form this season, but so far they've been very impressive and that should be applauded.

I also don’t think they will win either because they are not yet ready but are on track with the current performances, qualifying for champions league? I will give them same chance as to what I will give Tottenham because I feel they are on par with each other. Last season Newcastle did it and that can still happen
476  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: December 24, 2023, 10:02:24 PM

Perhaps, yes, brighter. But given the difficulty of the current season I think it would be no less a beautiful victory story, because it's a lot of work and very hard to face such giant clubs. They are only 1 point behind first place, things can change at any moment

They will actually be doing something memorable but the miraculous title win was that of Leicester city because of the odd given to them, they struggle to survive the season before that winning season and so everyone doubted their ambition. As for Aston Villa since last season they have shown that character to challenge those big clubs and that could be seen as then went on to qualify for European competitions last season at expense of Tottenham and Chelsea. Unai Emery will be the most joyous person if it goes like that because it will be like stealing the title from the hands of its former employees Arsenal.

Absolutely, coaches should bear the brunt of the blame for any team's poor performance. While players may also share some of the blame, coaches should bear the brunt of the criticism since they have complete authority over every choice made by the team. Therefore, the best course of action for Manchester United at this point would be to fire Ten Hag and try a different, competent coach if there is no improvement in the team's performance.

I don’t buy the idea that coaches to bear the brunt, yes coaches set out tactical plans but are the coaches also responsible for the clear chances that his players miss? If you say Manchester United should sack the coach and then bring another new one I would say it is a wrong decision this time around. This bunch of players have long been in the club and have been coached with different top managers and yet they couldn’t deliver, funny part most of these coaches are doing well in their new adventures which shows they weren’t the problem at Manchester United.

What I think Manchester United need is squad overhaul: send out old players and bring in new players that suit the coach pattern after this if he doesn’t delivers you can go ahead and sack him
477  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would happen if BTC were to be adopted as a global reserve currency? on: December 24, 2023, 09:41:35 PM
would the Government of the Nations adopt BTC, a decentralized form of digital currency?

If they do, dont you think we should raise eyebrows and be suspicious of what they could be up to?

how would it affect the crypto market and individual traders?

Adoption can be done by the government by them relaxing bans on bitcoin or going further to add it to some of the countries legal tender which is the most hard part. The decentralized system which bitcoin is actually seems to pose threat to bitcoin censorship and they will never want to let that go.

This will affect bitcoin adoption rate as it will grow in large number but the question will be whether the maximum supply of 21 million bitcoin be ok for everyone.
478  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: December 23, 2023, 09:06:04 PM
Barcelona current downfall cannot be separated from Messi departure, so far Messi has become the icon and soul of Barcelona game so that when Messi leaves, we can see that Barcelona performance continues to decline over time because the impact from Messi departure, apart that, of course financial is issues are the main problem for Barcelona is currently due to their carelessness when buying many players in the past, Barcelona current condition will makes slumped later on if their finances are still deteriorating..

Nobody actually expected Barcelona to have it easy in the first seasons after Messi left because you can’t just replace a player who guarantees you at least 40 goal contributions each season. But Barca decline actually stated before Messi left Barca. Barcelona had the best team in history around 2009 and they were the most feared team before Some of them started retiring, This changes meant that Barca needed a team built around young players and when they started recruiting they made another mistake of recruiting some old players. Look at Real Madrid, they change all the attacking options with young stars and right now they can use same players to compete for upto 10 more years . Also the midfield of Madrid is also well occupied with youngsters which shows the difference in terms of future plans than Barcelona and that’s why the later falls in to crisis more often
479  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Shouldn't Deposits Into A Wallet Show Under Transactions? on: December 23, 2023, 08:06:47 PM
Yes every transaction both deposit and sent are shown on your transaction history in the wallet. You can also confirm a transaction propagation by using any blockchain explorer. If someone needs to send you bitcoin the only thing they need to ask is the address and this is gotten from  your  wallet. Once it is sent you will see the amount reflecting on that wallet. The only way you wouldn’t see it is if it is sent to a wrong address or a wrong chain/network is used

I have not compared YouTube and Bitcoin.
I have compared YouTube and Bitcointalk - from an educational viewpoint, like where we have better content for education.

Base on This I will simply say Bitcointalk is far more ahead in terms of giving more accurate information than YouTube. This doesn’t mean one needs to rely on every information from here too and that’s why the phrase Do your own research is always attached to each information given here.

The reason why Bitcointalk gives more accurate information is because if a fake one is given by a member, other knowledgeable people will easily debunk it and if it is even malicious it will get deleted by the Mods.
