And the fact that your only defense is "lawl" just further reinforces things.

lawl    <--- just for ibian
I hope you die painfully.

thats the difference between you and i. i dont wish harm on you. even if youre an asshole.
You also do not wish to pay the 80% taxes your generation has imposed on me. That's the difference between you and I. I have not imposed anything on you.

Ibian reminds me of Colin Robinson from "What we do in the shadows".
Must have been a great feast for him today.

Imagine how exhausted people in Ibians office look when he leaves in the evening after talking everyone dry during the day about boomer taxes, destroying China and evil social how welfare is.

Ok, this is funny. Need something like it where a bingo means bitcoin moons....

Why does nobody ever mention a good old-fashioned zombie apocalypse?

we can use the free space for that. to each his/her favorite doom. mine is killer tomatoes.

Make it zombie ninja killer tomatoes and I'm in.
Now I start to wonder if I watched a tiny bit too much weird movies in lockdown...

That would certainly be more entertaining and less devastating than for example Donald the chief bunker inspector getting reelected

I prefer Gemini for quite a few reasons, but basically no shenanigans there and they have their shit together.

Isn't that the mother company of Blockfi who just lost my data and all my account information (like wallet addresses etc.) ?

Thank you, but no thank you.

Assuming some group is able to afford depositing bricks all over the country at convenient places for rioters, shouldn't we also assume that another group might exist that is able to hire a few twitter accounts to post pictures of pallets of bricks?
Don't get me wrong, I have no idea if one or the other is right, but wouldn't the latter be cheaper and easier to do?

Also I have some suspicions about this one:
https://twitter.com/Conserv17716651/status/1267458034273484808

Obviously it might have been terribly interesting to see what is written on the packing slip (things like a recipient, shipping company or manufacturer or maybe a date proving it is from now etc.), I wonder why that good american citizen taking this photo didn't think of that. At least I am hopeful this was all reported to the police first, before taking it to twitter.

You're right to have your suspicions - read down thread?
https://twitter.com/FriscoPD/status/1267499426689548290

Police have posted in thread to say 'nothing to see here' but the thread still rolls on with outrage at the conspiracy.  Even Warren Buffett is implicated apparently...

Everyone just believes what is on Twitter.  Don't trust, verify.

No, I haven't read any further, thanks for the info regarding the police statement, that indeed confirms it.
I normally don't waste too much time studying what social media has to say, I am happy when I can close that tab again.

I just wanted to point out that it is easy to post a (possibly age old) photo of a paletts of bricks compared to actually depositing one in time on the right place. And if it would be true, the police would be more than interested and either CNN or FOX would be covering ad nauseam. I was suggesting that this all is very unlikely from first view already.

It’s a bit sad how you many of you guys are all so thirsty for obvious propaganda

I am sorry, that I am sometimes not able to play out my irony in fullest since my english is just terribly weak, I apologize for that.

I have always dreamed of being in a gang. For too long my chicken legs, concave chest, fevered panting and micropenis have been the subject of persecution. Now the boot is on the other foot and it's time to round on someone else.

Kill, lash out, stomp, maim, disfigure.

GET HIM.

I'll be hiding round the corner if you need me.

Well...you could always sign up to work for these guys, I hear they pay well and are swamped with work right now:

Wow, just WOW!

I hear it's a great gig with benefits, such as they supply the equipment you'll need to do the job right:

<snip>
There are 65535 ports, some of them are standard, or reserved, like http (web, port 80) and https (web secure, port 443). Instead of "program" you refer to a communicating software like web servers as a "service".
<snap>

Sorry for being a total smartass, but I can't resist any further  Grin

To be correct there are twice 65k ports, each UDP and TCP.
And since I am being an asshat already, it is 65536 ports, 65535 is just the highest port, but we computer people start counting at 0.

* psycodad wanders off to make new friends elsewhere and murmurs something about not punching him in the face, belly is ok though.

But, but... port 0 is reserved and not really directly addressable (more like a wildcard, if anything) so there are, in fact, 65535 ports of each kind (tcp/udp).

Trying to outsmartass me, eh?

 Grin

(Got a point there, but I never agree with other smartasses on principle)

So, I got a letter in my mailbox, handwritten, no stamp, obviously delivered by hand, from someone called Mona.
I open it and it starts "My name is Mona, I'm one of Jehovas witnesses in Malmö.
Considering the current situation I choose to write to you instead of visiting you in person..."

Bloody hel, even Jehovas is doing social distancing.

Same here at my parents, came handwritten but unlike at you it came by postal mail.
Just glanced over it, but these sentences sound familiar.

Must be a worldwide Jehova-OP, these guys know how to grow their herd of (paying) sheep.

I have witnessed Last of the V8s give merit to quality posts in many different topics and threads in this forum over quite some time and I was always convinced he was already a merit source. As others already said, he is joy to read, friendly and polite and he regulary digs up gold nuggets from all corners of the intertubes and is one of the main reason WO is a place to be.

I support his application.

A while back I had Cannelloni for the first time in my life, I saw it in the ready foods section and thought I would try it out.
Big disappointment, it tasted exactly like lasagna, I could just as well have bought that.
I think I have figured Italian food out, they only have one dish but they serve it a little bit differently and give it a new name.
Ground meat with tomato sauce between pasta sheets and some cheese sprinkled on top = lasagna
Ground meat with tomato sauce between rolled up pasta sheets and some cheese sprinkled on top = cannelloni
Ground meat with tomato sauce in a heap of shredded pasta sheets with some cheese sprinkled on top = spaghetti
Ground meat with tomato sauce on a flat piece of almost pasta and some cheese sprinkled on top = Pizza
and so on.
I'm not trying any more versions of Italian food ever again.

You know, the difference might actually be between ready food and freshly prepared food as I think convenience food tastes all the same (like sh*t) no matter what country it tries to pretend to be from.

Get yourself some recipes from Italy for example for a bolognese, fresh made pizza (yeah, you're gonna make your own dough in a few minutes and your own tomato sauce too) or simply penne all'arrabbiata. It's actually quicker to make a good pizza all yourself than driving 5min to the supermarket to buy a frozen convenience one.

On a different note: Didn't you lose your taste recently to Corona? Maybe try a shot of vinegar and see if it tastes like Lasagne too, just to make sure  Grin *

* Just kidding, further quick recovery to you

Watched Assassination Nation yesterday.

Not the best movie I've seen but definitely worth the time and with some interesting twists.

Drumroll please!

I proudly present my new xhomerx hat:

The creation of the hat was a very intense process for xhomerx and I sincerely hope he recovers quickly from all the painful bites he got while trying to squeeze the little critters onto the hat to take a photo.

I know it is somewhat OT for WO, but since mimblewimble and grin were discussed here recently I'll drop the link that was posted on the cypherpunk ml by grarpamp yesterday as I found it an interesting read:

TL;DR: Mimblewimble’s privacy is fundamentally flawed. Using only $60/week of AWS spend, I was able to uncover the exact addresses of senders and recipients for 96% Grin transactions in real time.

You should ask in the Fedoragold thread regarding the wallet you try to compile, I was refering to the wallet from https://github.com/fedoracoin-dev/fedoracoin.

Need a updated wallet build.

Can you be a bit more specific as what problems you have?
The sources from https://github.com/fedoracoin-dev/fedoracoin compile just fine on Deb8 and Ubuntu 16.04 with:

Code:
./autogen.sh && ./configure --with-incompatible-bdb --without-miniupnpc --disable-tests && make -j 2

Honestly, if you need transactions to clear really quickly I'd suggest using litecoin at this point.

Yes, it's a shitcoin, but if you've got a hooker in your room, she's done her job, and you want her gone (that's why you pay hookers: To leave) a 2.5 minute confirmation time is of high value. Right now standing around for 30 minutes doing idle chitshat is not worth any amount in fees :-)

Bitcoin transfers are instant.

Care to elaborate? Or are you just trying to grind lightfoots gears?
What is the question? The transfer happens immediately. The processing before it can be sent somewhere else takes a little while. Payment does not need processing for the payment to happen.

So you are basically saying accepting payments once they are in the mempool is fine, waiting for confirmations is for sissys?

Good luck then with your funds.
Happens all the time. I do it, people I know do it, Cheapair does it. Last time I bought plane tickets I bought one part of the trip with plastic and another with bitcoin. Bitcoin confirmed faster.

Do you think Cheapair wouldn't just redraw your ticket if your transaction had not confirmed once the time for delivery of goods (you boarding their flight) has come?
Wake me when you have boarded a flight while your payment has still 0 confs.
