The 5n payout makes it very hard to ROI even in case of a few blocks...
The 5N keeps paying each share for (currently) roughly 7 days ... in any blocks found during that 500% Diff after the share.

You can't predict luck - so it's not possible to affect your ROI in advance on this pool in any way at all.

As they say “Past performance is no guarantee of future results.”

Well, if you guys want, maybe we could pool some rentals sometime.
I'm sure we could figure out a person to hold the money, if not one of us 3 maybe buzz OGNasty. He might be interested.

If you don't mind that I ask...
What are each of your strategies?

Deposit X amount of BTC and use unlimited speed until the coin is depleted?
Deposit X amount of BTC and use speed ranging from 100TH - 500TH - 1000 or more, les, etc until the coin is depleted?
Deposit X amount of BTC and use low speed say in the range of 10TH until the coin is depleted?

I believe the last post I saw someone mentioned 200 TH was used a few times?

Appreciate any information you care to share.

I'm open to that...

I have done 1BTC at a time, limited to 200 or 250 till gone, then waited 10-12 shifts and done it again several times. I have done this when the rental price is under 80, around 78-79.

Then again, I have done a few times with 20-50th rental over a longer time till coin is used. Always comes down to picking the right time to hit 5 or more blocks in the N range. But I'm open to suggestions, I'm no expert at rentals, some I win and some I loose.

The N range is so long now renting as a whole to a new payout might not fair as well as maybe an organized group push? I am willing to spend in the area of .25 for a rental. No matter I am open to options to crack one.

I'm willing to do 2btc for 500Th at .0079, that should buy about 12 hours. I think if we can add a full 1 Ph to the pool for 12 hours that should get us over this block and maybe a couple green ones after to get the avg back toward 100%

And away we go........Hope this helps!

You're balls deep..  I'm buying in with my .25 lol

I started at Kano early June, payouts have been great so figure, give back to the community a little. Probably loose on this but if it helps get us back on a winning streak, all for it.

Is there a reason my 2 pac 3 contracts not made any btc for today? I have a 0 btc balance with only .6 of my 1 btc i paid in paid back..

I think related to the last 18 or so blocks from Antpool not being recorded in Hashnest yet, my last v3 payment is below

I've been ridiculed for asking for the pool restarts, so you're all on your own.  Tongue

Looks like you have been renting a lot of hash 200+th over the last couple weeks, that must hurt. I know, I rented 4 btc worth on/off and have not been able to get any shifts that paid more the 4x so lost coin. All luck, I know. if you time it right, then you can get 6X or 7x on some shift which really pays off when renting under .00080

Meh I guess I need to start making sacrifices to anime block Gods.
If this one goes to 200% again I'm sure everyone (including me) will be sad Sad

October is turning out to be a SCARY month so far.....keep this up and by Halloween we can be facing a 50% luck over 30 days....

Lets make this the end of the bad luck and get 20 blocks in 15 days

S5 vs S7 Profitability - You heard it here first.

For everybody panic selling their S5 hash, I welcome you to put together some simple maths on the profitability between S5 and S7 right now.

Let's assume that you have 10 Bitcoin that you want to invest in Hashnest, and you're torn between S5 and S7. Here's the maths:

S7 Profitability

With 10 bitcoins, you'll be able to buy 5195 GH/s at the current price of 0.00192468.

Those 5195 GH/s will earn you 0.0429617 BTC per day, assuming 100% luck.

You'll be charged 0.01228772 maintenance per day.

Leaving you with a total PER DAY profit of 0.03067398 per day.

S5 Profitability

With 10 bitcoins, you'll be able to buy 13967 GH/s at the current price of 0.00071593.

Those 13967 GH/s will earn you 0.11550452 BTC per day, assuming 100% luck.

You'll be charged 0.06697278 maintenance per day.

Leaving you with a total PER DAY profit of 0.04853174 per day.

TLDR:

With 10 Bitcoins, buying S5 at today's rate will earn you 0.04853174 per day.

With 10 Bitcoins, buying S7 at today's rate will earn you 0.03067398 per day.

also try to calculate badluck, with S7 if antpool findblock eithin 2 hours it still positive, what happe in s5, itll negative,

True, but can't look at it block to block, antpool is big enough that look at luck on a weekly basis and it will always hover around 99-101

If your day trading hash, then block to block maybe important to you.

I have a BTC spare and am seriously looking at the PACMiC. If it is now on the S7 its lifetime should be good. Still not sure though, the profit is hard to calculate.

That's because it's very low. This is the worst contract of them all. That's why they have sold so little of it compared to v3. Just buy the hash on s7 or s5 short term and make more profit that way.
470  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HASHNEST Discussion and Support Thread on: October 11, 2015, 03:25:18 AM
Hi,

I'm just typing some figures into the bitcoin mining calculators and i can't seem to see the s7 on hashnest making a profit in a year. Am I doing something wrong here ?

I've used :

http://jblevins.org/btcmpc/

and

https://tradeblock.com/bitcoin/mining/

using the dats :

Hash power - 4870 Ghs
Power consumption : 1210 watts
Maint fees : 0.0976
hardware cost - 1923.

Am I doing something wrong here ?

Most people using Hashnest will sell the hash before full ROI to get back some of the capital. This way you don't wait for full ROI and can make a profit faster, just depends on the value of the miner down the road, diff increase, BTC price and newer miners being shipped.
471  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HASHNEST Discussion and Support Thread on: October 10, 2015, 04:56:58 PM
Hashnest marked the shop "sold out" when S7 market opened Friday night. There were over 600 S7 miners still left for sale. Hashnest will be wanting to sell those GH/s.

S7 price is headed down and there is a good chance price will drop to .0015 where there is a 102 bitcoin buy wall.

Just maybe they removed from store to slowly sell above 161 into the market? Who knows, that's sleazy but who knows. I will buy at 151 if it goes that low. Better then buying from shop when they open that again.
472  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HASHNEST Discussion and Support Thread on: October 10, 2015, 03:15:02 PM
s7 market is out and its pretty lame, ill give it a couple days, see if price gets better or more volume. im going back to s5 for now

Yes, very expensive for now. I m sure these re just speculators trying to rip off unsuspecting noobs.

Give it a few days to sort out. S7 fair value based on the pre-sale is .001614/GH/s. Most bids at the market are at .00162 or less, which is where you should bid if you want to buy. Makes no sense to pay speculators a profit. There is no rush to buy.

right now price is at 0.0022.

Good thing is it's pulling S5 price up.
And even at this price S5 is still much more profitable than S7.

Bonus : do not expect S7 price to go below 0.0018 unless shop price decrease .

Already below 175, and shop is sold out. I think another 7-10 days before shop sells more into market. I think s5 is still a good deal at below 80 and at 73 now
473  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HASHNEST Discussion and Support Thread on: October 09, 2015, 05:35:10 PM
Just curious, market rate once S7 is released, should be around .00144 BTC per GH?  Given cost of Miner and PSU?

Well if you buy from stock its .00162 new, I don't think people that paid 162 will be selling any hash when it starts trading. Maybe even go up to 170'ish. After a few weeks, some may start selling around the 140-150 level once they have made some return on the units mining for them. I think the better deal is the s5 in the .0007 price, I'm expecting the s5 prince to go up to 75-80 once the s7 is released since the s5 is 1/2 as efficient then it should trade around 1/2 the s5 price in the short term.

Heh I replied last night but as is often the case, the forum timed out.
The post didn't arrive and I didn't check it did Tongue

Anyway, regarding ckpool/kano.is, our block handling is very fast and our network connectivity is excellent.
I can't really see a 'reasonable' block size increase causing much detriment for us.
I can see it causing problems for other pools ...

By reasonable, I mean megabytes, not gigabytes ...

Block switching, for any good pool, is a quick thing and being only a few seconds makes very little difference to the chances of finding the next block.
A pool with 15% of the network is expected on average to find one block every 4000 seconds, so even a large 4s extra is a small 1 in a 1000.

However, if there was a cartel of pools, then that cartel has the same risk of destroying BTC if they had 51% of the network, as a single pool with 51% would have.
If a group of pools was stupid enough to do such a thing ... then ... well they can say goodbye to their pool like everyone else.
Who know if they think ahead or not ... though the fact that pools SPV mine and mine empty blocks shows that certain pool operators don't care how long bitcoin lasts and would be better gone from the bitcoin landscape.

Thanks for the response, I kind of figured that also, but what made me consider this is a pool that has say 100Ph, and for them SOMETIMES blocks hit with VERY low diff and at 100Ph, even a few seconds makes a difference. So if they hit the last one, then switch to next one at 100Ph, they can find another block and maybe another within seconds. Pretty much before other pools have switched to the next block. When you looks at the history of some of these large pools, its 2,3,4 in a row and sometimes seconds apart. Anyway, thats what made me think of this scenario.

Now imagine what damage we could be with your code, top of the line servers, flash storage and backbone fiber links and 100PH.....Unstoppable

Kind of like high frequency stock trading with servers across the hall from NADAQ servers but in the mining space.

Can you remove this suggestion and PM it to kano? Cheesy

maybe it is information vailuable for CKpool!?!

Kind of a general questions for Kano on block finds, been thinking about it for a while. Not just at this pool, but looking at the block chain and other pool stats, It seams that quite often you see the same pool find blocks in a row, pretty quickly in most cases. My assumption was that if your pool & miner find a block, then your pool is the first one to switch mining the next block. Especially if you have good code and very fast servers. I would think it takes a few seconds for all the other pools to move to the next block and thus would seam IF that next block is to be a low diff block (luck) you would get it before others since you were the first to switch to mining the next bock. At least a few seconds before others.

Am I all wrong here, or its just dumb luck and no advantage like I see there might be.

Thanks,

Oh wow, a 0.8% block, is that a record for this pool?

Someone show me the odds of the same miner solving two blocks in such quick succession, that's simply amazing.

See, it must have been all that talk about chickens and restarts that did it!  Grin
We've had 4 under 1%
That one is the 3rd best.

I switched the block limit shown on the blocks page - you can currently see all history Smiley

Excellent, thank you. Always wanted to see the stats on all the blocks for the pool!

I am just outside Albany NY, not sure if you travel the 87 much, but I have 8 x s3+, 1 S4 and several S5's. Given shipping costs, maybe pickup is the way to go.

Let me know

Hello, i don't have a car ^_^". I'm tapped out in funds at the moment, but i will be looking to buy more S5's in the future. I may have to remove S3 and maybe S4 from my buying list, i only have 800watts of power free on my power grid for mining, so after that its replacing older gear, and replacing older gear with slightly less older gear is probably not going to be enough.

If the price is right i would buy a working S5 from anywhere. If you have a concrete offer for 1 or 2-3 S5, i'd be interested to hear it, however it will take me a bit of time to replenish my funds.

The next thing i'm picking up will be a single S5 blade, as soon as i can find one at a good price. So i was going to let this thread rest for a bit until i have budget again.

OK, thats fine. I have the hardware listed other places also so lets check back in a while when your ready and I'll see what I have left at that point.
