461  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Has Cex.io exchange started scamming people? on: June 06, 2017, 10:36:14 AM
i think cex.io good exchanger and trusted exchanger
if you have problem you can post in announcemen cex.io thread, sending support ticket and inbox official account cex.io in bitcointalk

I was actually surprised to see something like this because when it comes to exchange sites that have stand the test of time over the years cex.io is one of them so for them to have this issue could mean a lot. Exploiting all avenues to get the attention of support is necessary before creating a thread for that purpose which might cause unnecessary panic for users but I am now at rest because they have already announced of the technical issues they are currently witnessing.
462  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin reduces unemployment on: June 06, 2017, 09:56:13 AM
Bitcoin by virtue of the currency of this forum has equally in all sincerity provided employment even if its on a part-time basis. For a student who knows how to code but cannot go full time, can advertise his services to the world and be patronised, so likewise to those who have their daily jobs and needs to earn some amount online, that's another form of job to complement whatever they are earning offline. So bitcoin has not only provided employment but also a source of generating income in no illegal way.
463  Economy / Economics / Re: So, you want to be rich? All of you ? on: June 06, 2017, 06:50:19 AM
My Philosophy about life is that its a crime to be poor and its a decision to be rich. Whether others wanted to be or not, what I know is about myself and that is my motive. If you generalise that everybody wants to be rich, then you will be wrong in the sense that while every one wishes to be rich, not everyone wants to be rich as they just say it by mere wishful thinking and not even working towards it because how do one explain someone who does not have the basic qualification yet wants to be the president of his country in modern day democracy, it won't work.
464  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC near $3k on: June 06, 2017, 06:05:11 AM
I saw the price just now, and I was just simply amazed to the level that it has risen over night when last night before I slept it was hovering between the $2500s but now moving closer than ever to $3000 but at the same time, I won't want to alter my position because of that because what will happen in the next minute just like last night to this morning, nobody knows and this adds a sense consciousness to us to be more careful  more in dealing right now.
465  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Use Social Media for Bitcoin on: June 05, 2017, 09:40:10 AM
Sharing bitcoin ideas on social media so that friends and family can see will be successful depending on how liberal the close circle are. For me, I tried it once and out of over 1000 friends I have on Facebook not one even liked  the post or even cm clicked to know more about the bitcoin then I stopped that means but still try to explain to anyone who wants to learn one or two things about bitcoin from me.
466  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How did Satoshi Advertise Bitcoin ?? on: June 05, 2017, 09:06:51 AM
Back in the days when there was Bitcoin and just Satoshi testing it, how did other early adopters of bitcoins came to know about it? Did he advertise about btc somewhere to attract people's attention to this new technology? How did bitcoin users initially rose from zero to millions ?
This is something that actually I have been thinking about on how the whole situation started up to the point we have it today and even still growing to a level in which we all cannot phantom but my conclusion has come to the fact that when you have a good idea, people will buy into it without limitation and after it has been tested to be full proof and same thing goes with other successful project that have happened in the cryptospace from the idea of one person to the creation of a thread down to the several pages of the thread among other improvements.
467  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: cryptocurrencies are not just stores of value, they are networks on: June 05, 2017, 06:52:33 AM
A perfect understanding of bitcoin shows that its not only a form of currency or an asset to be stored but also an infrastructure and that is why the news we are reading that banks are adopting bitcoin does not necessarily means adopting bitcoin as a currency but blockchain technology for their process. The same thing for Etherum to the best of my understanding which is combination of several computers or softwares that can be developed for several uses.
468  Economy / Economics / Re: Interested to invest in REIT on: June 04, 2017, 05:19:16 PM
I have been thinking from about a month to invest in an investment fund in real estate in the USA. It is looking good from what I am reading from web pages online but I am a born skeptic and I don't believe these without seeing evidence. I was wondering if there is someone here in the forum who can give me a few hints where to look in the beginning. I think too many crooked traders and investors in this business.

Over here, real estate is one of the most lucrative investment anyone can think of simply because the law encourages individuals to build and own properties as much as possible then generate income from it to the best of ability. However, when it comes to united states since you are already skeptical, I think relying of web pages might not be the best option rather you can make friends with anyone in the industry who can give undiluted truth about situation of things because only an insider knows where the truth lies whether positive or negative.
469  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 3 years ago I wrote this bitcoin sci-fi short story! Today it is all spoiled! on: June 04, 2017, 05:06:56 PM
3 years ago I was trying to write the sci fi short story called MARS MINER about things happening in the bitcoin mining facility in MARS.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=668028.msg7574713#msg7574713

But the whole blocksize debate has spoiled everything. Clock is ticking for what they called flippening where some altcoin will overtake bitcoin.

we are not going to mars, we are going to fall into sea to the bottom.
After trying to get a glimpse of the story written there, I am more convinced that you wrote it because you believed in it and even at a time when anyone could have bolted out of the space considering the amount of challenger that would have surfaced you held still which is something that would have been rare at the time. Aside that, the vision you envisaged right there didn't actually take into consideration the several challenges that would come its way that might even shake the for being fabrics of bitcoin like the one we are having and when that happens, people improvise not to kill, but to make things better.
470  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoins value on: June 04, 2017, 01:05:41 PM
What are the factors that affect the bitcoins value ? Just curious guys. Wanted to learn more.

Bitcoin is an emerging currency that is just penetrating which means new entrants are coming in every day with their resources and speculation thereby forcing the market in a particular direction. Also, the people who have been in the game understand the forces of demand and supply, so they hoard there making the available BTC unable to go round the community which will force the price up. For the fall in price, there are other factors responsible such as news from certain quarters that cause unnecessary dumps.
471  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin for all levels of society, without any difference on: June 04, 2017, 07:09:13 AM
Bitcoin is decentralized so that whoever you are from wherever you are rich or poor, you are free to use bitcoin for any purpose. Bitcoin is freely used for anyone. anywhere

What is your response with this opinion?

Bitcoin is so decentralized to use whether the rich or the poor as you have rightly posited but the issue is that some basic conditions is to be met which include:

1. You must have bitcoin and to get it, you must part away with something which makes it not toatally free.

2. You must have access to the internet and be interested in understanding how it works. This is something we all know is still lacking in some areas.

In all, it is free for use by people who already own it and that's it.
472  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DCORP Crowdsale - Democratizing Venture Capitalism on: June 03, 2017, 10:10:13 PM
Here the new updating about DCORP.
The First Milestone has been reached! And still 4 weeks of crowdsale to go.

Yesterday was Angel Day - the start of the DCORP Crowdsale. Already after the first day, we have reached the first funding milestone!

Thanks for your contributions - both in ETH as well as in words!

We have lift-off... Onwards!

We hope you have all succeeded to join the crowdsale, or are still planning to do so. We have received a lot of positive reactions from everyone, which confirms our belief that we are really on to something here that has great potential for all of us (yes, this means you as a DCORP shareholder).
The first project: building a decentralized derivatives exchange on blockchain
Now it is key to keep on pushing forward, and spread the news about the success of DCORP. We aim to raise additional funding to also directly be able to launch the seed project, building the world's first decentralized derivatives exchange on blockchain.

As a reminder, more information about the derivatives exchange can be found here:
https://www.dcorp.it/#derivatives-exchange

I am so happy to be part of this and even part of those promoting the project. It is possible and it can be achieved. I hope this reached its potential and every proposed development is executed to the fullest so that the right amount of Return of Investment can be given to all investors and this would be one of the best decisions made in the crypto world.
473  Economy / Services / Re: Debt collector from Bitcoin loans. on: June 03, 2017, 10:03:53 PM
After reading some of the comments and response of OP, I still feel the cost that will be incurred in getting the debt will be more than the amount itself. Looking at a scenerio of even a defaulter in my country in which the cost to transport to his side is already high, aside that even if he is so close by, how do I make him pay? By threatening him or arresting him, or beg him?
474  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NAV coin founded by a scammer? or just forgetful? on: June 03, 2017, 08:59:22 PM
If what the scenario is actually what it is and not what we are made to believe, then I personally do not see any scam intention here he did his job, got his share and decided to sell off. If by virtue of morality he should have stayed longer, then that is another issue but what if the price kicked off to a high level immediately after he dumped his own share then he would have lost and so many people here would have blamed him for taking such decision. Its a risk and he took it and so many of us would have done the same thing if we were to be in his shoes.
475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should You be Concerned About a Bitcoin Chain Split on August 1st? on: May 31, 2017, 04:00:10 PM
It is likely that the user-activated soft fork (USAF) would be activated on August 1 which would result in a bitcoin chain split.

Likely outcomes:

1. Bitcoin core protocol would undergo some changes.

2. Blockchain split, leaving multiple or at least two types of bitcoins, on two different blockchains.

3. USAF lacks community support, the Chinese mining pools are against it so a split would end in one chain with Bitcoin and SegWit activation, whereas the other one will be dominated by the Chinese mining pools.

The first UASF bitcoin mining pool, http://pa.xro.ca, currently under maintenance.

There is a small possibility that blockchain split might happen and if that happens users would be left with two different bitcoins. No one is sure of what's going to happen in cryptosphere, as a precaution it is better to withdraw any funds from online wallets or exchanges before August 1.

Source: https://themerkle.com/should-you-be-concerned-about-a-bitcoin-chain-split-on-august-1st

I would rather not want to be concerned about what I cannot change or influence because whether I like it or not, August 1 will come and go and nothing will happen and I am not going to be the only one affected by the outcome of events of that day whether positive or negative. So, I just wait and let events unfolds itself. As simple as that.
476  Economy / Economics / Re: Can bitcoin improve the economy of a country? on: May 31, 2017, 02:44:40 PM
In as much as bitcoin has been reported to have been used to facilitate crime which is not something new to everyone, the source of income it has been to quite a number of people cannot be undermined because whether yes or not, it has increased the economic worth if every individual even if it is in a little way and this will in that little way contribute to the economic development of the country as a whole.
477  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your biggest loss with cryptocurrencies? on: May 31, 2017, 02:29:18 PM
My biggest loss to date was about 0.1btc although I have made quite some small amount but the largest amount to date at one goal is that. But I have learnt my lessons that knowing the right time to buy and sell is the soul of any trading activities and that's where the secret of this who will win and those who will lose their investment which is something I have made as a point of duty to always focus on.
478  Other / Off-topic / Re: What's your way of spreading Bitcoin knowledge? on: May 31, 2017, 12:27:08 PM
My way of contribution is just to first created an atmosphere to generate interest by intentionally leaving my phone or laptop with pages related to bitcoin activities so when friends and family sees it, they ask for more information because I don't have the energy to start teaching someone who is not interested to learn and the moment they are forced they see it as money making machine that when they lose, they look for someone to blame which I definitely not want to be.
479  Economy / Economics / Re: High volatility and sudden crashes will kill bitcoin, unless... on: May 31, 2017, 09:08:02 AM
Crashes like this are just mild compared to what have been witnessed in the past which in the real  sense does not kill bitcoin rather makes it come back stronger and more popular. To me, I see the crashes as lessons to both outsiders and those in the know that bitcoin is not a quick rich scheme that will just continue to increase like that but a little set back for us to go back to the drawing table and set our priorities right.
480  Economy / Economics / Re: Long-term storage on: May 31, 2017, 08:45:43 AM
What do you think,
How safe is to keep some BTC in the coldwallet for 20 years paying no attention to crypto world?

For me, keeping that amount of money which I am sure is not going to be a small amount of money, 20 years is too long without looking back even the little amount I have in exchange site for trading, I check in every time in other not to miss the most important time to sell or buy. Going longterm is good because it might turn into a fortune but the same risk is also involved which might turn it to worthlessness.
