4601  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: OpenBazaar - decentralized eBay on: August 08, 2015, 11:00:35 AM
Tried to install the windows version today. No success after about an hour.

Installed GitHub for Windows, then Python, then py2exe, then (oops) had to install the py2exe for Python 3, then learn how powershell works for running ps1 files in unrestricted mode, then download pycountry1.8, install pycountry1.8, copy the egg file to OpenBazaar directory, run the setup/install (edit the python 2.7 reference to 3.4 in the setup script). No errors. Run the setup/create windows exe...
created an UNKNOWN-0.0.0.win-amd64.exe

Ran that, gave some sort of python install screen. Apparently something installed. And that's it. Nothing running.

Am I missing something?

I realize it is still in development so it is not ready for prime time but any documentation on how to install on windows would be great.

What will happen to the coins that were deposited by Multiple users.
will Brainwallet open after some Time or it has turned into Scam?
I see i am able to log in..
should i remove my coins from there?

EDIT: I am unable to log-in Now.
What do you mean by Empty String?

Yes, it was announced before DefCon that they would be hacking brain wallets and advised everyone to get their coins out of their brainwallets.

Even if you think you're super smart in your pass phrase, it can be hacked easier than a private key.
4603  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: WARNING: BillPayForCoins on: August 07, 2015, 04:45:16 PM
Same here. I have the Transaction IDs as proof of payment.

Their lack of response is disheartening.

No there's not. It is a hypothetical that one person who does not like that idea brought up to make sure we approach the block size enhancement in a smart way (or else something stupid like raising the total supply could be pushed through in the same way).
4606  Other / Politics & Society / Re: If you don't know which candidate you're going to vote for by now, don't vote on: August 06, 2015, 04:34:21 PM
What influences their vote now?

Whatever vote they believe will get them elected as president.

4607  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin becomes 100% unregulated in Japan!!! on: August 06, 2015, 03:50:44 PM
So with no ownership over bitcoin, I'd expect cryptocurrencies to never be widespread in Japan. Then again, we don't know hoe valid this order is and how seriously is going to be regarded.

The only thing you need to own a bitcoin is to hold the private key. The government cannot do anything to change that basic fact.
But then again, what happens if you can't pursue third party services for stealing your bitcoins, overcharging etc. I don't see Japan being a good place to start a bitcoin related business after this.

Use escrow services, multi-sig, all sorts of technology that make laws meaningless...
4608  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin becomes 100% unregulated in Japan!!! on: August 06, 2015, 02:30:35 PM
Can't really nitpick the wording too much since most likely the original wording is in Japanese.
4609  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin becomes 100% unregulated in Japan!!! on: August 06, 2015, 01:40:47 PM
Does this mean that you can freely open bitcoin casinos in japan, a country where gambling is strictly illegal except yakuza pachinko parlors?

Hmm, gambling with something that they see as having no value...I guess it would be allowed. Don't quote me on that though.
4610  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin becomes 100% unregulated in Japan!!! on: August 06, 2015, 01:36:21 PM
So anyone can do anything with bitcoin in Japan and not get arrested? Is this what this is saying? May need top stop using or not use any service/site hosted or out of Japan if it is related to Bitcoin.

If you're relying on the government to protect you when it comes to using Bitcoin, you're doing it wrong.

Judge Masumi Kurachi ruled that, due to their intangible nature and reliance on third parties, bitcoins cannot be covered under existing law.

This is quite awesome. Set up exchanges, set up payment processors, set up whatever you want with Bitcoin in Japan. It is not covered under the law.
4613  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Australia takes first step toward Bitcoin as currency on: August 06, 2015, 12:10:10 PM
Just a note from someone living in Germany where Bitcoin is treated as a currency. Any trading of the currency requires that you register as a foreign exchange dealer. Bitcoin is severely suppressed in Germany due to its classification as a currency.
4614  Other / Politics & Society / If you don't know which candidate you're going to vote for by now, don't vote on: August 06, 2015, 12:05:17 PM
All of the candidates that will be running for president are out there. They ALL have a history.

Decide how the candidates will be based on the decisions and actions they have made in the past when they weren't being paid for or the propaganda machine wasn't trying to paint a picture for you.

The whole "I want to see how this candidate does to see if I will vote for him" crap is just stupid. You are a sheep. Don't vote.

Just look into the histories and voting records and actions of each candidate. Do you like what they have done? Then vote for them.
4615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When getting a merchant to take Bitcoin on: August 05, 2015, 02:34:17 PM
Just help them go to BitPay and set up a merchant account. It's very simple, takes like 5 minutes.

Then they can either use their smart phone or have a tablet for it. But if they use a tablet make sure they don't just load it then stick the tablet in the corner so it can die after a while and need to be re-charged the next time someone comes in asking to pay with bitcoins.

Then you can go to coinmap.org and put them on there.

Ahhh, the good old dog days of summer... price is just barely limping along... feels like it could drop any minute now, but support has been pretty strong (or perhaps the sellers have just run out of steam?)

I remember one summer when the price was sideways.

Just watched Patrick Byrne's announcement.  Basically he announced "t0.com" (tee-zero), a registry for asset ownership that uses ~~the~~ a blockchain to record actual ownership of stocks and similar things.  He claims it will give shareholders actual ownership of the shares, and contrasted it with the current system, under which a shareholder does not actually own a share of the company, but only has an IOU from a privileged company that actually owns all the shares.

They are ging to use the Bitcoin blockchain at first, but he said something like "It is ledger agnostic - it can work on Bitcoin, on Ripple, and on another one we are working with but can't tell you yet".

This makes sense. t0.com will be an exchange. They are set up to use Open Assets right now but could probably integrate Colu, Counterparty, Factom, etc. It might be transparent as to which protocol you are using.

But each company will need to choose their protocol because once you choose it, you have to stick with it.

I guess that's a good way of seeing it.
Some, of course, might (due to brainwashing) get different take-away from Galt's Gulch.  Especially since all similar projects (arguably due to government infiltrators and bankster saboteurs) met similar ends.
Perhaps steading the sea is the answer?

I would agree.

I like how that fucking media tries to manipulate or kill or whatever bitcoin. On of my friend heard on tue radio that karpeles was arrested.guess what was the next sentence ? "Bitcoin is dead, bitcoin is abad investment, bitcoin is a stupid game, bla bla bla.

I heard something similar from one of my friends.  He asked me, "did you hear about bitcoin?"  "did you hear that the leader of bitcoin was arrested?"   hahahahahaha...   I did attempt to clarify for him, but he kept saying that he does NOT understand, and that he is NOT going to invest into anything that he does NOT understand.  I again attempted to explain a few more things to him, but it seems like he was willingly and purposefully trying NOT to understand anything related to bitcoin.

He's been brainwashed by the mass media, unable to think disruptively, in a paradigm-shifting manner.  Or a government agent (aka bankster) himself.
Stay away from him, JayJuanGee, he's nothing but trouble.

Yep, if it were Atlas Shrugged the people who willfully stay ignorant of Bitcoin are the ones left behind to participate in their own destruction. We all get to move forward with our bitcoins leaving them behind.

Who is John Galt?

...and what is Galt's Gulch??

Yep...centralized database of property ownership. Avoid like the plague.

Huh? A fat dude playing an old type video game? Wtf does this have to do with BTC? Nothing about BTC in that video?  Game credits.. I guess, but way to convoluted for ppl to understand

I guess it's showing how Bitcoin can be used to bet in video games.
