4621  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hacker of FTX dumping ETH for BTC on: November 26, 2022, 06:25:31 PM
My understanding is that the hacker is using Bitcoin and ChipMixer the launder his stolen funds. This sort of thing is terrible for the Bitcoin community as it will only shine negative light on the infrastructure and lead to industry damaging regulation as a result to try and put a stop to these bad actors. It’s like FTX existed only to fuck over customers and lead to damaging regulation while funding the democrats with stolen funds. You paying attention yet?
4622  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 26, 2022, 06:21:26 PM
Lots of LeBron talk as he’s back in the rotation for the Lakers and helped them get a win yesterday. They’ve got a rematch again today against the San Antonio Spurs, so hopefully we see more domination from Anthony Davis and LeBron is able to play in the back to back. They’re slowly starting to show some life, but I think that team has a lot of issues that will keep them from postseason success.
4623  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 26, 2022, 03:29:31 AM
Another big night for Anthony Davis as he puts up 25 points and 15 rebounds in tonight’s Lakers victory. Another win without LeBron… They better keep winning when he gets back or there’s going to be even more trade talk.

I don’t know what was up with the Pelicans tonight. They didn’t look very good in their matchup against the Grizzlies and there were a lot of odd rotations. I think Thanksgiving might have played a bit of a role on that one.
4624  Other / Archival / Re: Is there a chance we get a takedown notice? on: November 25, 2022, 07:10:08 PM
I don’t think this sort of advertising would result in a takedown notice either. More likely it would be used as a honeypot or it’s participants investigated to see what other shady activities they’re involved in. This site though expects the community to take the responsible approach and not encourage or support users who would engage in the advertising of money laundering activities for their own benefit. Is it illegal to advertise? Probably not. Is it unethical and leads to scammers feeling empowered here, in my opinion, yes.

But ya, they’ll say it’s about privacy…

Did you lose money on FTX? Thank a Chipmixer advertiser today for supporting the laundering of your funds for the hacker.
4625  Economy / Collectibles / Re: How do you store your physical crypto collectibles? on: November 25, 2022, 07:03:49 PM
I can appreciate people’s hiding spots and that will most likely be good enough protection to allow you to live a normal life without fear of break ins or house guests stealing your collectibles. I’m not sure it’s good enough protection from a wrench attack though. There’s something to be said about not having access to your collection, although it sucks to not be able to view the items that are held so dear without jumping through all sorts of hoops.
4626  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everything you wanted to know about Grayscale BTC Trust but were afraid to ask! on: November 25, 2022, 07:00:21 PM
DCG's problematic asset is Genesis Global Capital and is currently working on all possible ways out of the current situation, judging by the fact that, according to The New York Times, the company hired the investment bank Moelis & Company to explore options, including potential bankruptcy, although according to a representative of Genesis, “Their goal is to resolve the current situation unnecessarily filing for bankruptcy”

I would love to grab GBTC at the current discount and I personally believe people who do so will be rewarded. However, I’m not familiar enough with the structure of everything to know all the liabilities involved. If the parent company goes bankrupt, is the fund liquidated and investors get a return as the premium is eliminated, or are the fund’s assets sold off and creditors of the company receive the funds first? These are things investors should be aware of before diving in.
4627  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 25, 2022, 06:56:52 PM
A lot of games today but sadly none that I will be able to watch. I would think the day after Thanksgiving will probably provide some interesting gambling results as you never know who was being good and who had a few too many helpings of pie.

I’m also curious how Anthony Davis is going to play once LeBron James is back in the lineup. If he could keep his recent numbers with LeBron along side him then the Lakers might again be a problem.
4628  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: November 25, 2022, 06:55:02 PM
I’m not much of a World Cup guy, but I have been enjoying reading about the upsets and seeing everyone’s reactions to them. Japan and Saudi Arabia along with the United States have provided some surprises to show that sports are much more global these days and there are no more “gimme’s” in sports at the highest level. Nowadays all of these athletes have similar opportunities and it shows. Love that things are leveling out.
4629  Other / Archival / Re: SONDORS Metacycle - $5,000 (now $6.5K) Electric Motorcycle on: November 25, 2022, 08:24:00 AM
Today I received an email to confirm my address for Sondors so that they could place me onto the delivery schedule and assign me a VIN #. No idea if that means I’ll be hearing from them soon or not, but it seems like things are happening. Last week I read that they were expanding shipping outside of California so it’s possible that everyone received the same confirmation request from Sondors.
4630  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The History of Bingo on: November 24, 2022, 07:47:20 PM
It was much later named "Bingo" in the US, when it hit the spotlight over there. You can read more about Bingo here

Bingo has always been very popular in the US.  Even before you started seeing different types of gambling houses start showing up in areas that had previously banned gambling, there was Bingo.  It's thought to be a pastime for old folks and is extremely popular amongst the older crowd.  Wherever there's Bingo, you can expect a packed house.  These folks come to play too.  They buy multiple cards to play at the same time and have all sorts of stuff with them.  I'm not sure why Bingo has always been an accepted form of gambling everywhere, but it has.  Great to learn more about it's history.
4631  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Issues a Statement Warning on: November 24, 2022, 07:42:52 PM
Seems to me like a clear cut case of fraud and I'm sure it will be dealt with quickly.  Things like this are the only good thing about centralized services controlling the internet.  The website domain should be withdrawn from it's owner or traffic directed to a black hole while authorities figure out who is behind it and handles it appropriately.

It would be awesome if Warren Buffett changed his stance on Bitcoin but I don't think he ever will.  He's too rich to worry about missing out on some gains at the risk of his reputation.  Bitcoin might outlive Buffett, but I'm sure if/when it does say it's final goodbye, we'll be hearing plenty of warnings from folks like Buffett repeated.
4632  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Two arrested in massive $575m cryptocurrency 'Ponzi scheme' on: November 24, 2022, 07:39:51 PM
This topic has been beaten to death on Twitter lately, but it's absolutely shocking that people are arrested and vilified for running Ponzi schemes, while Sam Bank-Fraud is able to live in the Bahamas and fly around giving paid talks.  It's like the folks in control aren't even hiding it anymore.  They're directly lying and manipulating people, stealing their money and not even scared there could be consequences.  Meanwhile the news outlets cover for them so long as they're willing to vote democrat or have any political ties to their party.  The fact Sammy Fraud Boy is not cuddling with large unsavory characters in a county jail while awaiting trial right now should piss off everyone.
4633  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Elon Musk Brings Back a Bunch of Huge Banned Twitter Accounts on: November 24, 2022, 07:36:48 PM
You guys see the closet full of #staywoke T-shirts that Elon found in the Twitter headquarters?  Elon taking over Twitter was so badly needed.  The way liberals have taken over media to push their ridiculous agendas has been shocking to me.  By at least restoring free speech Elon is allowing regular people to push back against the crazies.  The fact that the people saying to trust the science are the same ones saying you can't determine if a skeleton is male of female because you can't ask them is alarming.  The fact that government is fostering this sort of mental illness shows that they don't care about their citizenry.  They only want to foster mental illness and weaken the next generation so they will be easier to control.  Thank God for Elon.  He's restoring balance to a small piece of media and even that tiny victory is met with outcries.
4634  Other / Off-topic / Re: Elon Musk want to buy bitcointalk on: November 24, 2022, 07:33:02 PM
No, Elon Musk is most likely driven by financial gain

This.  Hispo hit the nail on the head.  This website wouldn't be worth Elon's time to even take a meeting on it.  I doubt you could even get a one word reply if you texted him with an offer to take ownership of this site for free.  The guy is worth so much, his time is heavily regulated and the idea that he would spend even his toilet time responding to an offer for a web forum is ridiculous.  Not to mention this site is actively reducing it's revenue sources while adding additional expenses and a replacement website has been in the works for a decade.

I think you'd have more luck trying to sell this site to Roger Ver or Craig Wright.
4635  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 24, 2022, 07:46:18 AM
No games tomorrow due to Thanksgiving in the US, but we do get an ESPN doubleheader today to help ease the pain. First up the Boston Celtics bs the Dallas Mavericks and then later we get to see the Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State Warriors match up. I like the Celtics and the Warriors today, but am looking forward to seeing both games. Good luck to the bettors out there!

Didn’t put a bet down but I should have as the Celtics and Warriors m came through with wins on ESPN tonight. Day off tomorrow for the NBA but we’ll be able to enjoy games on the next big holiday, Christmas. Enjoy Thanksgiving if you’re in the US and if you aren’t, sorry for the lack of basketball for a day. Smiley

Connor McGregor calling out Khabib over Khabib taking shots at him was something I didn’t really expect, but Connor wants to make it seem like Khabib retired to not have to fight him again. I’d personally love to see them run it back again, but I’d rather see McGregor fight a striker than a grappler. I want to see another one of those knockout punches not more tapping. I really hope we get to see McGregor in the octagon again in the next 8 months.
Conor seems to be gearing up towards a fight, and he did suffer a pretty nasty break. I expect we will see him, but hopefully it'll be someone outside the top five, and a striker as you say. He's still exciting, and tagged Poirier multiple times in both fights, and hurt Poirier. So, he's still dangerous he just hasn't got that same fear factor that he once did.

Not sure what the angle is with Khabib's little dig towards Conor. Also, thought Conor's response was a little deluded, and a bit nasty talking about his father's dream considering what happened.

Looking at how big Connor (bulking up) is nowadays, I wonder which division he will be fighting next. As big as his name, I don't think Connor will drain himself down to lightweight again. I doubt an inactive Connor can beat any welterweights ranked 6 to 10.

Michael Chandler keeps calling out Connor up to now despite losing his last fight. Maybe Dana White can arrange a welterweight match-up between the 2. It's still a big fight and a winnable fight for Connor as well if he trains early and hard. The weight can probably make this fight 50/50 or so.

I think Connor is indeed gearing up towards a fight and obviously it won’t be with Khabib who is retired and likely not in top tier fighting shape. For me though there’s the question of when Connor will actually fight again. He hasn’t been getting drug tested which is why he’s filming for a movie and looking like Rambo. I think when he does finally announce a fight, he’ll probably have to do it 6 months out and get on a drug testing program.
4637  Economy / Speculation / Re: How low will BTC's market price go? on: November 23, 2022, 10:39:01 PM
I don’t think that sentiment can get any lower, so it’s mostly about when the collapse is finally contained. Genesis is currently fighting to do right by their lenders and if they can’t then it’s likely we take another step down. Who knows who will be next. Possibly GBTC or even Binance. Once entities stop being forced to raise capital by selling their BTC then things will stabilize and start rising again.

Crazy night for betting in the NBA. All of the games were pretty massive upsets except for the Suns beating the Lakers. That would have been one hell of a parlay win if somebody picked all of those upsets. The Kings shining the beam wasn’t too crazy, but the 76ers winning without their starters and the Pistons beating the Nuggets were pretty shocking. Shows you that any team can win on any given night.
4640  Economy / Speculation / Re: Cathie wood says 1 btc $1m by 2030 how possible? on: November 23, 2022, 01:25:17 AM
Her funds have taken an absolute beating over the last year. What else can she say? She’s trying to reassure investors and she’s even been trying to raise new capital to start yet another fund. She’s putting her money where her mouth is though. Recently buying more Coinbase and GBTC for her funds. I think she’s in a difficult spot right now, but it seems like there will be better days ahead.
