but I've read that they do not allow coupons to be used to purchase miners. Not correct. The problem is that they no longer seem to give out coupons EXCEPT in cases like yours. They used to give out coupons to buyers very frequently but methinks s7's are the last miners they did that with. If you get one then as long it has not expired -- go for it.

Something else to keep in mind is the 'shipping weight' is not necessarily the weight of the package. Package dimensions enter into that and there are trip points for HxWxL size = a certain minimum shipping weight and each carrier has different trip points. The R4 is a fairly large box.

if i place 3 different order below 2500 i can skip duties?
If they actually ship on different days, possibly. Thanks to computers Customs can easily match different orders being processed on the same day and they most likely will treat them as a single shipment ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Just a thought. The way it is viewed by the general public is nefarious, of no good use (which of course isnt true). But you may end up realizing the AC usage was the least damaging part--- rather your reputation.
That misconception can only be fought with education. For one, the plain and simple fact is that being an open Public ledger Bitcoins are far easier to trace than Fiat and normal banking that use off-shore accounts. It's a safe bet that governments LOVE it when criminals use BTC as it makes it easier to track their activity.

Between the order-now, delivery March 1 and very minor price between the 14THs s9 or 2x Avalon 721's + the matter of my R4b6 w/1 dead board -- I gotta gladly pass.

And honestly anymore I recommend VH's cgminer as outlined in the 2Pac thread; Novak's original Compac code was a rehash of the Icarus driver, and the BFG driver isn't much different, but VH's Gekko driver for cgminer is fully custom-built and handles the sticks much better overall. Which is why I will use it once I get the new sticks. Just like when I gave Linux a try again after IBM cut the support cord for OS/2 Warp so long ago <sniff>, trying CGminer back in Feb 2014 left me profound sense of - frustration -- whereas BFG was easy-peasy plug and play for my lil BFL cubes and now my Compac.

You guys are overlooking the stats. He is mining to a pool that has set the MINUMUM Share difficulty over 2000. Many pools won't lower the Min until you hit it at least once. His miners BEST SHARE so far in the screenshot is 75. He's got a ways to go. Now some pools will start hiding work if you don't submit a valid share fast enough, while others will begin lowering diff after a certain amount of time. What mmpool's strategy is I wouldn't know because I've not used it. The message "Share Above Target" really means that your miner submitted work that is not above the minimum share difficulty ie. 1/1 and 2/1 when what you need at mmpool was at least 2.5k/2.5k Diff.
Ah... Yes, that will certainly do it. Most pools disconnect slow btc miners. Point at solo.ckpool.org or AntPool's solo pool. They will take all comers but of course the payout is an all-or-nothing lottery.

I think the one accepted share was a fluke. It's only sent one other accepted share and is reading 0.00GH/s. Here's a screenshot. <snip> EDIT: After ten minutes it started operating normally. That's one hell of a start-up time but I'll take it over a dud unit.
Well once running, play with speed. Mine is at work but methinks 317MHz gives at least 12GHs for last number. Over a day or so of running the 1st number (highest) is around 19.6 or so. Check the OP for speeds that can be used without a fan or high power hub.

Yer welcome. With BFG you can play with clock speed on the fly. Press M for manage device, C for clock speed. With mine and a tiny fan blowing on it I use 317. Press enter to escape and all done. Let it run for a bit and play with speed (higher) until you are still comfortable with HW error rate and temp.

Did you let it run for very long, or turn it off immediately? I got the same error testing 2Pacs on solo.ckpool, but after a minute or so it started accepting shares regularly. Not sure what's the cause.
I let it run for about a minute or two. I'll try letting it run for longer to see if there's a change. EDIT: I've left it running for about 10-15 minutes now with no change. Then something else is up outside of my realm. I don't use CGminer though the new sticks look like I'll have to for them. The delay should only be a few min or less. I think with mine and BFGminer it's like a min or 2. edit: and if you try BFG - remove the Zadig USB driver that CG requires. As I recall it and the one built into BFG do not play well together.

Running under BFGminer I see the same delay with the Compac I bought from Phil with it pointed at solo.ckpool. After the delay a message is displayed saying something along the lines of "miner authorized for pool' and then the shares are accepted. Possibly the pool is verifying the send-to btc address before allowing real work to begin?

Most miners including all of Bitmain's only use the 6-pin PCIe connectors. If there is a 2pin 'flyer' on them (2 more returns) the flyer is only for GPU's that might need the extra grounds and is not an issue. Do NOT confuse them with full 8-pin connectors EPS you may see on a PSU. They are used for some mobo's and have 4 wires each for the positive and negative and are polarized differently! ref https://www.moddiy.com/pages/Power-Supply-Connectors-&-Pinouts.html

You can try to buy a converter for 110 to 220v About that... If you mean getting a step-up transformer -- beware of ANY sold as 'International voltage converters" such as sold by http://www.world-import.com/transformers.htmIn short, they are woefully over-rated for power. I had 2 of their 2,000w transformers with early s9's (1,450-1500w) on them. Ran very warm which is normal for xmfr's but after 3 months both transformers had failed. I opened them up to find charred windings. Now we know why they are so cheap... Replaced them with REAL transformers from AutomationDirect for around $189 each (vs $54) and as expected, being industrial units they should last forever.

Someone please tell me there is no way this dingy strand was actually doing anything?
Errant bristle from a brush used to clean it?

Hmm, I have some old RasPi's courtesy of the now defunct AMT dating from early 2014, prolly version-1's. Will the software run on them?

Phil, what you want to search for is "tangential blower suppliers". That will pull up a ton of links, now as to finding one that runs off of 12vdc and has the needed PWM control... that will probably be the hard part.

So guys, still didn't get an answer to the topic yet. I'm aware of the specs of the stock fans that come with the S9, but I am hoping to find out what is the pressure differential across the fan so I can calculate the actual CFM through the S9 considering pressure drop across heat sinks etc? ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) Probably because no one has measured the pressure differential. So -- get some clear flex PVC tubing and make your own manometer (google it -- very very simple) , poke a hole for access to the space between the fan and heatsinks and ya got yer answer.

I had a board repaired at the bitmainwarranty, but it still isn't working correctly. It occassionally keeps dropping to zero hash rate and asic status shows a full row of x's. Reboot fixes it again for a variable amount of time.
I've tried different communication port on the controller and the problematic board only moves to a different chain and the controller in functioning normally.
I'm keeping in touch with bitmainwarranty to find out a good solution, but as a back-up plan I was wondering if someone here would be familiar with a script for restarting the cgminer/bmminer in case of some of the boards dropping to a zero hash rate?
This is a 11.85Th/s 550M pre-autotune model.
Use Awesome miner and create a rule for the miner to restart or reboot whenever its rate drops below your trip point. Works well, Awesome for me, especially with my under-volted s7's. When one gets cranky and drops a card I have the rule set to start CGminer again and the card comes back up. So far with s9's that works as well which is great considering the s9's -- especially the auto-tune ones -- don't like reboots...
