This miner is somehow similar to Bitmain latest generation miners, most of these issues are caused by the input voltage, according to Innosilicon T3 57th specs the input voltage needs to be whiting the 210-240 volt range.

I don't know how these PSUs work but I assume they have a sort of protection mode they go to if the voltage is not whiting the range for x amount of time. Another possibility is a faulty PSU. Since you have another gear to test with, the first thing I would do is try that PSU using a different socket and cable "just in case the damage was caused by one of those".

That is true but the cost of maintenance and labor applies to everyone regardless of how much they pay for power.

0 cents power cost + labor = 2 cents
6 cents power cost + labor = 8 cents

so it's a matter of ratio rather than exact numbers, in fact now that you mentioned labor and maintenance it's actually even worse for the guys who pay more for electricity, it is safer to assume that the higher the power rate, the higher the wages are.

in other words, if you were to hire someone to do your job in the U.S, you need to pay him 20$*600Hrs = 12,000$ a year, the guy with cheaper power in China can hire someone to do the exact job you do for 3$ an hour and end up paying 1,800$ instead of 12,000$, and they won't pay as much for gas and tolls.

think about this as a "glitch" in the game where a group of people uses exploits that can't be fixed and the rest have to compete against them that way.

There is another important factor that should be considered, people with free or close to free power sources, those will always "ruin" the game and make the most efficient gears way less profitable than they "should" be, Thus the economic incentives for making such gears will decline.

Imagine a network where having 100EH of 10w/TH and bitcoin price at 100k, the mining profitability is high enough to justify paying say 50$ per terahash. Take the same exact network but add 20EH at 50w/TH owned by those who have free or close enough to free power access, it now makes no sense to pay 50$ a TH for 10w/TH because of the "glitch" or the "unfair" distribution of electricity.

Before you waste your money and time on a new fan, you must first confirm that the control board is actually correctly reading the FANS' rpm by swapping fan 0 and fan 1


The S17 pro has 4 fans labeled as Fan0, Fan1,Fan2 and Fan3, after swapping the cable from fan0 to fan1 you will get one of two results

This indicates the original fan0 (now fan1) is bad and needs a replacement.

This indicates the fan has no problem but the control board fails to detect the fan due to a faulty socket or bad firmware.

also in your initial post, there is a pool-related issue, you must use a working pool, if you are using nicehash which is known to have issues with these new miners, use another pool, actually use two pools just incase.

I tend to agree to Artemis3's way of categorizing the board, IMO it should be ASICs vs everything else that is computer-related and that includes GPUs/CPUs, it does make a lot of sense to actually try and sell a GPU that was used for mining in a "mining" related board, but that is impossible to maintain, so the best split would be ASICs's child board, I think moving ASICs to their own board will fix 99% of the problem we have.

احسنت اخي, الموضوع كله في النهاية مرتبط بالجدوة الاقتصادية, مالفائدة من تسخير ملاين الدولارات للتبع البولكشين؟ الحالة الوحيدة التي يمكن ان يستفيد فيها الموقع او المنصة هوا في حال ان الاموال اتت اليه عن طريق اختراق منصة اخرى مثلا وعندها يمكن ان يقوم بحجز ذلك المبلغ او بالاحرى سرقته من السارق بطريقة قانونية, ولكن اعتمادا على قوانين الدولة قد تكون المنصة مجبرة على اعادة تلك الامول لصاحبها الاصلي او تسليمها للدولة, من وجهة نظري ان المنصات التي تقوم باتتبع تفعل ذلك لانها "مجبرة" قانونيا على فحص الاموال التي تدخل عليها, ولكن القانون لايمكن ان يجبرهم على اجراء فحوصات وتتبعات دقيقة تكلف ملاين الدولارت, بل ستكون ببساطة تتبع اخر عنوان كما شرحت انت, ونفس الشي ينطبق على قوانين KYC, فالمنصات تطلب منك مستندات اتبات الهوية ولكنها لاتقوم بأي مجهود للتأكد من كون الاوراق المقدمة فعلا لصاحب الحساب, لانه لايوجد قانون يجبرهم على فعل ذلك ولايوجد دافع مادي لفعل ذلك ايضا.

I wouldn't be too concerned about any upcoming improvements in the mining industry as far as efficiency is concerned. The Antminer S9 was built on 16nm and was released in 2016, four years later what do we have?

The S17 pro runs on low-power does 36w/th, the S9 now does 75w/th and that is 16nm to 7nm. the cost per terahash for the S17 pro is close to 50$, way too expensive for the amount of efficiency it gives.

5nm should be 15-20% improvement over 7nm, so what will 3nm bring us? 10% improvement over the 5nm specs? at what cost and when?

The way I see it, if you now own gears that do 40-45w/th you should be safe for years to come, the new 5nm gears will cost a lot to make and a fortune to buy, with rewards being cut in half, bitcoin price not going to the moon and adoption isn't skyrocketing, I see no economic incentives for mining gears manufacturers to actually try and rush into adopting 5nm based chips, let alone 3nm. It's not about just making the most efficient mining equipment, things are not that simple, you need to make gears that you can actually sell, gears that will ROI in a short period of time because making mining gear is like holding a hand grenade if you don't get rid of them fast enough, you are **** up.

I have had every single model of the Antminer 9 series and speaking from personal experience, this is how I rank them.

I would put the S9e somewhere at the top if the price per TH was not taken into consideration because the S9e runs pretty cool and it seems to be robust so far.

غير صحيح, فلقد قمت بارسال ايميل لشركة Bitmain امس بخصوص خدمة مابعد البيع لاحد اجهزة التعدين وقامو بالرد عليا اليوم ولايوجد اي تأخير او عرقلة بهدا الخصوص فالوضع يجري بصفة طبيعية تماما.


لا علاقة بفايروس كارونا بهدا السبب, السبب هوا العطلة الصينية المتعلقة برأس السنة الخاصة بهم والتي بدأت يوم 25-1-2020 والمعروف ان العطلة الصينية دائما تكوين 15 يوم وهده معلومة معروفة ومتاحة للبحث في قوقل.

طبعا هدا لايعني ان فايروس كارونا لم ولن يؤثر حتى ولو بنسبة بسيطة على وثيرة التسارع في الصين, ولكن الموضوع مبالغ فيه جدا فهو ليس بهدا السوء, وربما تم ايقاف بعض المزارع الموجودة في اماكن معينة لاغراض امنية ولكن الموضوع لايرقى لان نقول عنه "ايقاف التعدين في الصين" فالموضوع بعيد كل البعد عن هده الوصف, والوضع حتى الان تحت السيطرة وعلى مايرام.

الموضوع كله يعتمد الطريقة التي يقوم الميكسر باستخدامها لخلط البتكوين, بعضها سهل الكشف, بعضها صعب والبعض الاخر قد يكون مستحيل.

اعطيك مثال بسيط, يمكن للمكسر ان يقوم بتاجير قوة تعدين من موقع نايس هاش, ويقوم بتعدين على solo mode بحيث انها يتحصل على بتكوين "جديدة" ليس لها اي تاريخ ولاسجل سابق, عندما يقوم الزبون بطلب خلط بتكوين يرسل البتكوين الى احد عنواين المكسر, ويعطوه البرايفت كي للعنوان الذي يحتوي على مكافاءة التعدين المسبقة.

مكسر اخر, يقوم باستخدام الطريقة البدائية المعروفة بأسم Coinjoin , من سيكون الاسهل الاسهل للتتبع؟

تتبع تحويلات البتكوين يحتاج الى طاقة هائلة واموال طائلة, استعمال المكسر يزيد من تكلفة وصعوبة التتبع بدرجة قد تكون كبيرة, ولا يوجد طريقة مطلقة للتبع كل التحويلات والدليل ان ملاين الدولارت اختفت وتم سحبها الى اموال ولم يعرف من هوا صاحبها, ولكن خير مثال في سرقة المنصات حيث ان عنواين المخترقين معروفة ولكن يمر الوقت وتضيع تلك الاموال لانه يوجد الكثير من الطرق للهروب من التتبع ان احسن الشخص استعمالها.

That is correct, straight out of the box, installed on a good voltage regulator of 220v so this rules out any power related issues, there does not seem to be any physical damage from DHL shipping so this in a nutshell is a faulty control bored.

I will still mess with it to find out what's wrong and why isn't any lights coming up, that will take sometime but i will post my findings.

I did order a new one and it ships whiting 20 days so i might end up with at least a month of an expensive gear sitting there doing pretty nothing but loses value.

an update on the quoted issue, trying another known to work PSU did not solve the problem, trying a different control board fixed the problem and all hash boards work just fine.

This is probably the first time ever that I receive a miner with a faulty control board, what I am going to do now is order a new control board for the S17+ and then start "my war" against Bitmain, it makes no sense to delay the order to wait for them to respond to my complaints. the board costs about 100$ shipped, negotiating with Bitmain will take forever and chances are not high enough.

When I have the chance, I will try to inspect the control board and try to figure out what's wrong with it, will keep updating the situation.

The computer hardware child board has been "invaded" by the ASIC Miners' WTB/WTS topics, to the extent that actual "Computer Hardware" topics are no longer visible on the first a few pages.

This very board was intended for computer hardware before ASICs became mainstream, and in spite of the fact that many members have lost interest in Non-ASIC's products, other's who are computer savvy but not into ASICs might use their own board.

هده الفكرة غير مجدية فلا يمكن باي حال من الاحوال مقارنة جهاز البراد الذي تم تصميمه لتبريد اشياء لاتنتج حرارة باجهزة تعدين يصدر عنها مئات الامتار المكعبة من الحرارة.

يمكن تجريب هدا بنفسك بوضع مجفف شعر في فريزر وشاهد مالذي يسحدت، يعتقد البعض ان مجفف الشعر سيبرد بينما الواقع هوا ان المبرد سيسخن ويذوب.

الطريقة الامثل للتبريد في مجال التعدين هي حركة الهواء..بوجود مراوح تدخل هواء جديد واخرى لطرد الهواء الساخن فورا يمكن التعدين في المناطق الساخنة نسبيا.

المناخ ليس عامل اساسي في عدم انتشار التعدين في الوطن العربي، تكلفة الطاقة ايضا ليست مشكلة حسب ما اعتقد ان الكهرباء في معظم الدول العربية اقل من امريكا والدول الاوروبية.

المشكلة من وجة نظري تكمن في القوانين واللوائح وجهل السلطات، لذلك الكثير من الدول تمنع التعدين واغلب المعدنين يشتغلون في نطاق ضيق.

ولكن يوجد الكثير من احهزة التعدين في بعض الدول العربية، اغلبها يعمل في الخفاء لاسباب امنية.
