WOW!

I really am getting 200% profitability.

I went to cex.io/r/0/Virosa/0/
Yeesh... screw off with the referal links, douche.

Talking about ghash.io's promo and how it affects CM is one thing, but that post was just stupid.

Wow relax, dude.

No need to be an ass, i hadn't realized, i was just excited to have doubled my profitability, as a sign of good faith i edited out the link...

Its just a 1 week thing, it doesn't look like they are switching so as soon as the week is over, i bet people will rush back here. =/
4642  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Apparently GHash is having a promo, doubling LTC profitability for one week. on: March 13, 2014, 11:26:57 PM
I went to cex.io/r/0/Virosa/0/, registered, clicked the ltc tab, was easy to setup and i apparently already made a small fragment of a LTC.

I saw there was some flame about Ghash because they were going to get 51% of BTC miners. Are they trying to get monopoly on LTC by paying 200%?

So far it seem legit, you can easily withdraw LTC balance and the khash and payout seem to be instant/whenever requested.

Is this too good to be true?

4644  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is the Stilt's BIOSES still a thing to do? on: March 13, 2014, 12:09:37 AM
The bios for R9 290 requires 2 conditions (if I remember correctly):

1. HynixMFR or Elpida
2. Under 70% ASIC

If you got HynixAFR and are above 70% ASIC than there's no point doing so.

It was written somewhere here: https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=12830.0 if you care to read through all the pages Smiley

Thanks for your support again. I totally missed that ASIC% part, i have "Hynix" and look like ASIC is 79.8%... look like i'm screwed but this is annoying. I get performance losses at anything other than 1250 and 1500 memclock(and 1500&+ is innately unstable).

I was also hoping i could improve stability and power efficiency by changing Voltage.

-Are there other optimized Bioses out there?

P.S.: (I solved my 1 hour stability by unbolting the video card, i think the bolt pulled the card away from the socket and the plastic pin holding it isint too good. So i think that high fan speed vibration might cause the card to be slightly unproperly connected at time causing the flickers, now the card just wont accept any kind of core OC for more than 20 minutes, maybe i'll try to re-oc it with lower optimized xitensity )

Anyways if you still run 290s you might wanna give my TC a shot :3.
4645  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Is the Stilt's BIOSES still a thing to do? on: March 12, 2014, 09:59:34 PM
I'm asking cuz some people says he closed his thread and i've tried the links he has for 290s but they dont work. They flash okay and then it boot but as soon as amd drivers are loaded, i get BSOD.

For example i can boot in safe mode, but not regular mode.

I get SSID error if i try to flash in bios with -p i need to add -f. Report says flash successful 10000/10000, shouldnt it says 20000/20000?

What should i try? Find an app to properly clean amd drivers and try again or i missed something?
4646  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Issues with my new tri-x r9 290 on: March 12, 2014, 07:10:05 PM
I use Sgminer, not Cgminer so i dont know if its different. When i use vector 4, i get the very high WU for 10 minutes and a 30mhs bump, vector 2 work bad, i get a big (100-150) drop in khash and vector 1 seem average. Also it is a scrypt-only setting in cgwatcher.
There's no difference in that regard, vectors does nothing (I am also running sgminer 4.1.0 and don't even have it set up).

I didnt specify my settings further because volt is locked, stock bios doesnt let me ajust it. I heard somewhere its 1.225v or something like that. And i have (edit:) NOT touched core, which is at stock 1ghz, changing it to reference didnt fix the issue but i will try again (i have barely touched clock settings, except i been using gpu tune 20).
You should be able to change the voltage using MSI Afterburner or Trixx (Sapphires software). If you're going to use Afterburner than you need to check 'allow voltage control'.
But since you haven't touched your voltage than it can't be the issue.

Now i just set -w to 512 and vector to 1(i believe thats what is autodetected), it yield much lower khash (low 700s) with 500-600 wu and it just crashed after 20 minutes at stock (not reference) settings.

Now i will run your settings.

-w 512 doesn't matter to R9 290 because the maximum size you can set for it is 256. You can confirm it by seeing the binary file that is being created and see that part of its name will contain w256 and not w512.

Anyway, did you check the temperature of the VRAM?

I keep forgetting to bring up temp ; its under 70c at all time with fan at 50-60%. Running borderlands 2 maxed net me 41c and a solid 60 fps with minimal gpu usage. No tearing. These looks pristine to me. I dont think the temp sensor is busted because it behave normally when i lower fan. The temp then sky rocket and i crash there and then.

I can re-say that volt is locked, thats what it says on the bios info, it use a different setting control. To unlock it, i'd need to install Stilt's bios but i get BSOD after i flash it and i havent gotten any reply to my post since yesterday. To compare, i can change volt just fine on my 2 other cards. It bothers me because i would like to undervolt to see if it solve my stabilities issues.

Vector is odd because i clearly get +60 mhs and +300 Initial WU and big boost for 10 minutes consistently everytime ( and i tried at least a dozen time) vs vector 1 or not vector set. My pool confirm that by paying me 200 extra mh for that 10min period. Regardless.

Then i guess setting 512 actually made me set it up from 128 to 256.

So anyways, i put your settings, effectively changed -w to 256(512), removed vector.

Two things happened:
-No artifacts from this OC/UC
-Crashed after 2 minutes, i will run it again after i check something

Khash was at upper 700s so fairly low. I'm getting a bit worried that the chain crash episode of this morning caused perm damage. I never, never crashed so fast so i will rerun it a few times.

I hope we find a fix or something change because i can't RMA it for 3 weeks and i fiddled with BIOSes so i dont know if they can access a log to see that i attempted to update the vBIOS.
4647  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Issues with my new tri-x r9 290 on: March 12, 2014, 06:20:33 PM
Thank you very much for the reply.

Yes you have good memory, it is Hynix. Reference is 1250 memclock, stock on tri x is 1300. I have issues when i so much sneeze as any memclock or power settings (like memclock and gputune).

I have a 130 khs gain/loss with 1250memclock and 1300 memclock. Artifacts only happen when i change any of those and last until i run a 3d application ( i have no idea why ) then if i so much sneeze at it or run mining with modified clocks/settings they start again. However, the flicker is not my concern. It is merely a symptom. The cause is the sharp decline in khash that lead to a driver crash, which happen after WU drops by from 900 to 600. As soon as it get there, the khash start plummeting and then crash.

For TC, i did shader x n + 1 i tried 1-14 for n, both extreme = doesnt run, lesser extreme = hardware errors, shader x 10 +1 yielded best results.

And i have (edit:) NOT touched core, which is at stock 1ghz, changing it to reference didnt fix the issue but i will try again (i have barely touched clock settings, except i been using gpu tune 20).

Lastly, i might have said something unclear. I can't mine for more than 40-60minute before issues start to arise. It takes about 3 hours before it become critical and i need to intervene, however performance after 1h30 is abysmal.

Now i just set -w to 512 and vector to 1(i believe thats what is autodetected), it yield much lower khash (low 700s) with 500-600 wu and it just crashed after 20 minutes at stock (not reference) settings.

Now i will run your settings.

4648  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Issues with my new tri-x r9 290 on: March 12, 2014, 05:00:32 PM
I get 900~ khs and 900~ wu for a solid 10 minutes (average) then i get a sharp decline (drop to 750 wu and khs always stays around 865khs), then it get slow decline by about 1 average WU per minute and then hash rate and then drivers crash, cgwatcher eventually restart the miner after that. For a while, i get alot of artefacts and black lines. Restarting or leave the gpu alone for a while clear that up. I dont get artefacts when i game at 1250 memclock nor 1300.

According to the logs, the process happens faster and faster until drivers insta crash like so :

[2014-03-12 12:02:32]        Total hashrate is below Scrypt cutoff 700 Kh/s (0 Kh/s); but am inside the miner's startup grace period (Elapsed:36 sec;GracePeriod:3 min) so did not attempt to restart yet, but I will if the condition exists after the grace period expires.

[2014-03-12 12:04:16]        SGMiner started successfully.
[2014-03-12 12:04:36]        Total hashrate is below Scrypt cutoff 700 Kh/s (0 Kh/s); but am inside the miner's startup grace period (Elapsed:26 sec;GracePeriod:3 min) so did not attempt to restart yet, but I will if the condition exists after the grace period expires.
[2014-03-12 12:06:16]        SGMiner process closed outside of CGWatcher!
[2014-03-12 12:06:16]        The miner is closed outside of CGWatcher and you've requested for me to ensure it stays running. Attempting to start...

I find it odd that it says the process was closed outside CGWatcher. But whatever, there it is.

So since i have CGwatcher now restart my miner after hashing drop too much. (As you can see at 700, but on the previous logs, by the time the grace period is over, its already down to 500s khs.

So in a nutshell. First critical drop occured after 40 minutes, then after 20, then 10 (its honestly that clean), then 10, 10, 10, 10, 20 (it did go back up), then it goes bad, 3 (was at 690 khs and 3 is minimum grace period), then 3 again (khs was at 300), then insta crash and restart every 3 minutes for about half an hour, then i wake up and stop this madness.

Here's my dxdiag

http://pastebin.com/XM5HW22H

This is my config:

"api-allow" : "W:127.0.0.1",
"api-listen" : true,
"failover-only" : true,
"gpu-threads" : "1",
"gpu-memclock" : "1250",
"gpu-powertune" : "20",
"temp-target" : "85",
"temp-overheat" : "90",
"temp-cutoff" : "95",
"vectors" : "4", (that and -w together is the only way to get khs and wu to a reasonable amount)
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"thread-concurrency" : "25601"

And these are the only 2 .bat arguments used --xintensity 512 -w 128 (its the -w 128 that yield high khs + high WU/kh ratio).

I use SGminer 4.1.0

I already spent days trying different things and settings and next step is changing a setting and not touch the computer for an hour to see if its more stable but i'd like to be stopped right here if there is an obvious issue, as there are prolly weeks worth of combinations to try still.
4649  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUTO-SWITCH] Profit-switch auto-exchange pool: CleverMining.com on: March 10, 2014, 10:42:04 AM

All three of my rigs are doing this now as well. Different locations, different setups, all <6 months old. Probably started doing this maybe with in the last week.

Exactly same here. When I was mining in the US server all was well. This started happening about a week ago when the EU server opened. Never had these problems before when I was at the US server (now I have them here too).

Power is not an issue. I have a kill-a-watt and all is well. Also, I have the PCs (4 of them) on a 25 Amp circuit (220V) which can support up to 5500W (My rigs use around 2000 Watts).

I can confirm seeing the same here - on the eu server.
Most of the time I have seen this, the cudaminer reports "GPU #0    12345678 hashes    200kh/s"
Then the miner seems to have no work for 5-60 seconds - GPU usage is 0%
It only becomes active again after "Stratum detected new block" is received.

No connection timeout or accepted/rejected is reported in this "pause".

Aha, then so far, three of us have the same problem. Perhaps others havent noticed this yet.

I also notice a few "Stratum connection timed out". It could be related.
Maybe the shorter periods also are "lost connections", but shorter than the miners "timeout" value?

I asked around several time about this and i never got any answers.

If i didn't receive a accepted/refused share for a while and i get a disconnection (stratum connection timed out/interrupted), do that work become wasted?
4651  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: An (even more) optimized version of cpuminer on: March 07, 2014, 11:19:02 PM
Is there a way to hide the "Stratum Detected" spam? -q only hide half the spam, the hash part.

Now, why would the efficiency ever be below 100% of LTC, why not mine LTC if it's more profitable?

I'm going to guess that the profitability% is based on expected LTC gain. It is silly to think that we'd be mining something worth 70% of LTCs.

Which means only the overall matters. If the profitability dip under for a bit, it is not relevant.

The reason could simply be that even if we're mining something worth 140% LTC, mining isint garanteed thing. You can get alot of tokens one hour (more than expected) and then for a few hours get less token that expected.

Or not, i just got here. Maybe i don't know what i'm talking about, since i'm just basing this on the stats available on the main page.

I'm getting alot of

[2014-03-06 22:02:36] Stratum connection timed out
[2014-03-06 22:02:36] Stratum connection interrupted

this evening.

Is it my connection, my cudaminer or the pool?

Also, When i try to add my cpu's 40khs to my gpu's 170khs, (by running 2 different worker) over the course of the day, the site report i've been doing 130khs(with 9khs wasted). Why does it look like my cpu's khs is being substracted from my gpu's work?

data is slower to show a true picture of lower hash rates because samples are sparse compared to higher hashing set up, so it would be hard to pin down what you are experiencing.  I would start by checking the BTC address in your cpu miner.

minerd.exe --url=stratum+tcp://us.clevermining.com:3333 --userpass=u:p

Its running, and rarely i get work accepted/rejected on the cpu. So the command line should be fine. This isint an instant thing, this is over the course of a day, the cpu worker doesnt seem to get credited even tho it says work accepted and my khs credited is much lower than what it should be. Like my CPU get 20khs accepted and my GPU 170khs, site says 130khs over the day, 9khs wasted while it should be around 190khs. When i turn off my cpu worker, i get 160khs to 180khs daily average. Seem fair since i get a 172khs accepted average on my miner.

The only thing i see is they are both on same computer so same IP.

Either way, i just shut off my cpu miner, seem to be alot of trouble for little.

I'M more worried about the random DC

Is this only for YAC?

I'm trying to mine us.clevermining.com but any of those additional .exe won't run with

minerd.exe --url=stratum+tcp://us.clevermining.com:3333 --userpass=user:pass -t 10

nor same above but based on minerd_scrypt_jane_x64_ssse3.exe -a scrypt-jane -o http://URL:PORT -O USER:PASSWORD

nor a combination of new exe with -o instead of --url= and vis versa.

I'm just trying to get the most out of my i3-3220, i get 24 kh/s with pooler's 2.3.3
