Being a longtime member doesn't mean you should be given activity points, since activity requires posting. You have options to post non-crappy but why you didn't?.

I also suggest that signature campaign manager should not accept non-english speakers, with this i think spammers and crap posters will be minimized.

Most of the problem campaigns have managers that don't do anything about the quality of users they accept and that's the issue here. Until badly run campaigns are severely punished then nothing is going to change.

Maybe remove signatures until you become a senior member? But that would only again lead to an increase in trading of accounts.
This is a tough question to resolve.

This would just encourage more farming. Look how bad it already is with people shitposting to get to Jnr Member etc.
4642  Other / Meta / Re: Rank Formula- Should it Change? on: September 01, 2017, 07:43:37 AM
No, the ranking system is too lenient and spammers aren't punished correctly as is.

Not only is it too lenient, it actually encourages spamming. Any suggestions as to what would improve it?

Remove signatures from ranks and make people pay to get a signature then problem solved. This would also stop account sales and farming 99% and stop people who can barely speak English signing up with hundreds of accounts and spamming nonsense day after day just to rank them up.

Funny how I thought I was going to do terrible and ended up coming second only ten points behind StephenCurry333 this round. Now joint third on the table.

But Manchester City's last gasp goal to give me an exact 2-1, tonight's WBA-Stoke goal apiece were the 80 points.

I got those ones right also. Narrowly missed out on another two by Everton and Leicester failing to score.
4644  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: August 25, 2017, 11:55:34 AM
No. You wont lose rank unless you delete old posts, but if you don't post at all you will just lose out on the activity points for that particular activity period.

I'm fairly confident that this is my week and I'm gonna blow everyone away this time.  So excited!

GL everyone!  Smiley

I think this week has some games that will be very close and too tough to call. I'm not expecting to get many points from this week to be honest but maybe I'll get lucky.

I also saved my predictions since yesterday , both in BBC predictor which is the main source for the competition but I also did post in the games and rounds thread for anyone who wants to have a look. I am not superstitious so I don't care if my predictions are public or not.

Well it's not really about superstition but if you're a good predictor people can just copy your results.

Ok thanks for letting me know. Just done it, now let me go and edit my post in the Games and Rounds so I do everything correctly and there is no room for misunderstandings. I will change correct score from 2-0 to 2-1 for Man.City for tomorrow game, just my feeling.

You can edit the scores right up until kick off on the BBC site. You don't need to update or even post your scores in games and rounds either. I've also gone for 2-1 for tomorrow's game but I've done shit this week haha.
4648  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting Discussion Thread on: August 20, 2017, 03:19:09 PM
The season is very long, and with all these surprises in the Premier League scores are very low. Potentially every day you can do 400 points (40 points x 10 matches)! In the middle of the season we will see if some player takes advantage of the opponents.

Ha, well yeah, potentially, but the odds of getting anywhere near 400 points is astronomical.

I wonder if Minho++ forgot to input his scores as he's the only one on zero points this week.

I got 40 points for this week, again... hahahaha... Not bad..  Cheesy

That's ten more than me currently.
4649  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting Discussion Thread on: August 20, 2017, 07:36:35 AM

The games I must say ended as predicted most of them except Arsenal which started (as expected) to screw up since the second week. I didn't yet catch a correct score this time so I guess I will be left in the bottom of the table although there are three more games to end this week.

I'm doing pretty shit so far with only 30 points. I think if you can get one correct score a week you're doing pretty well though.

It's cool to see that the leaderboard is getting updated now and I only failed to predict two correct outcomes. West Bromwich Albion with the suprise win and that 93th minute goal from Southampton. I was expecting both matches to end on a draw.

Yeah,  glad you can see everybody's points from the current round now.

Boy, do I suck in this game.  I actually thought I wasn't a bad predictor of these games but when you put it on paper where you can actually see it.  The truth comes out.  Lol.  Cheesy

I see that cicciobtc is having a good run at it, leading with 190 points.  He should post his betting picks in the EPL thread for everyone to see.  Grin

Ha, we'll that's one good reason why some people won't want to publicly post their scores because people can just copy the best tipsters.

It's only been two rounds so far so things can still drastically change if some people have a couple of bad or good weeks. I think results are harder to predict at the beginning of the season as well because teams are still rusty.
4650  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting Discussion Thread on: August 19, 2017, 03:38:21 PM
First game of this week starts in a little over an hour so please make sure your predictions are submitted to the BBC site. I've PMd hayhay and his are done so hopefully they'll be no slip ups this week.

I hope it is as you say but I have only seen very few people post also their predictions in the games and rounds thread. Hopefully they have put them in the BBC predictor so there are no misunderstandings this week. This competition is a lot of fun so far.

I'm sure nobody will forget. Most likely wont post their scores publicly now it is no longer needed. It will be interesting to see if those at the top of the board can continue their form or if they just got lucky  Grin.
4651  Other / Meta / Re: Wait 360 seconds.... on: August 19, 2017, 10:24:32 AM
Make sure you wait the full six minutes before you try post and this includes logging in. Logging in and attempting to post all reset the timer so you have to wait the full 360 seconds before you attempt again otherwise it'll be unsuccessful.

For a newbie rank try to be patient a little to post next, give pause 1 hour or more to keep your post not considered spam, do not force your activity nuat.

Waiting an hour is irrelevant on whether you posts will be considered spam or not. Plenty of people could make very constructive posts within a few minutes so it's always about quality over quantity but that doesn't mean to say you can't make lots of constructive posts fairly quickly.

4653  Economy / Services / Re: [FULL] ChipMixer Signature Campaign | 0.00075 BTC/post on: August 19, 2017, 10:04:28 AM
I'm going on a trip and will be gone for the next ~10 days, so I'll be unable to do post counting for the next pay period (Aug 19). ChipMixer and I agreed to make this round a double round that lasts for 2 weeks. Same rules as normal, except with a max counted posts of 100. Basically the same thing except you'll receive this week's payment next week.

Convenient for me seeing as I only did about 30 posts this week  Grin. Have a great trip.
4654  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: August 16, 2017, 03:42:24 PM
does commenting on some "off-topics" themes also count as an activity?

Yes, but posting exclusively in off topic threads is likely to get you banned because this is a bitcoin forum (see the sticky in off topic).

You guys should update the Donation amounts. 50 BTC = $20K USD ~!!

They wont be updated because it wouldn't be fair to the original donators, but new donator ranks have been suggested.
4655  Other / Meta / Re: vip membership on: August 16, 2017, 02:07:05 PM
The price will always be 50btc because that's what the original donators paid and wouldn't be fair to them to lower it now. New donator ranks have been suggested and pegged to fiat to avoid a similar situation happening but whether they'll get implemented is another matter.

If you still ask me to make a screenshot on BBC, this is a screenshot that's all empty because I did not make predictions on the BBC.

OK. That's all I wanted to confirm. We will credit you with the points you would have earned. Please make sure to submit your predictions to the BBC site which you can do now for this weeks games.

Add his points next year on last round.
It looks like honest mistake and misunderstanding.
(If he didn't edit post, of course.)

I've already said I would do this if he provided proof which he has now done.

It's hahay's fault for not carefully reading the thread.  He's the only guy here who made that mistake so it's pretty clear the rules shouldn't be bent just for you.

It was an honest misunderstanding so I don't think he should be penalised for it and it does no harm crediting him the points so everyone is happy.
4657  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting Discussion Thread on: August 15, 2017, 10:08:09 AM
If so, should be you tell again to all participants just for remind because lately I'm busy with my life so I do not notice to the rules like that, because at first you just asked me to register on BBC and I think it was just to create a table calculation of manually predicted results from games and rounds to placed there.
LOL this is really a very bad incident, I do not want this to happen, but I have lost points in the first week, it makes me despair.

I told you about signing up to the site but it's not my fault you misunderstood and didn't input your scores and everyone else managed this. Again, as I've said multiple times I will count your scores at the end of the season if you send me a screenshot of your results tab on the BBC site so you haven't lost out. They obviously wont be counted on the BBC table but we can take them into consideration at the end if it makes a difference so don't worry just send me the screenshot of your results on the BBC site and you will have your 80 points.
To be honest, once you tell me to register on the BBC I think that's enough and after registering on BBC, I never again access that site. Then i think posting in games and rounds is enough and then i think BBC just to show the rank on this contest.

Okay fine no problem, this is my mistake not seeing such rules.

I can not give a screenshot as you asked, because I did not put my prediction on BBC.

Sorry for my misunderstanding and prejudice to you.

I received a loss of points in this first week, sorry once again. Grin Grin

I know, but that's what I want you to prove. Send me a screenshot of that zero points because it's possible you changed your scores (though as I said initially this isn't likely and I don't believe it to be the case but just so there's no complaints from others). Once you've done that we can make note of the 80 points you should have had.

You should know, if someone changes/edits their posts below the date there is a dashed line and that is not in my post.

I'm well aware of that, but it's irrelevant to the table if you didn't put in the scores.

It looks like you have a personal problem with me but I do not know what your problem with me.

My personal problem is with you telling me to be careful, when it's you who wasn't careful and didn't input your scores to the site (everyone else managed this). I've already said if you sent me a screenshot of your results on the BBC predictor (to make sure you didn't change them) I will count them at the end of the season but I can't magically edit the BBC table to include them.

You are so arrogant, as a moderator you should not need emotions just to respond to a small problem like this.

At first, you did not ask us to make predictions on BBC, BBC is only used for tables of points count and I think that's enough if just join at BBC.

I have provided strong evidence but you are still evasive.

I do not see you telling me to make predictions on the BBC, you just ask participants to make predictions in games and rounds and not at BBC.

It has nothing at all to do with arrogance and I've been more than accepting of the situation and said I would count the scores but if anyone is being evasive it's you because you haven't yet provided any evidence that you didn't change your scores and that's all I asked. For all I know you could have made your predictions and they all lost. Everyone else managed to input their scores apart from you so it's nobody else's fault but your own. I mentioned several times that we were using the BBC site and posting your scores here wasn't mandatory:

I've created the thread in Games and Rounds here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2076240.msg20745851#msg20745851

Please follow the instructions in the op and only post your predictions (and/or results at the end of the week) there, though this is not mandatory now we're using the BBC predictor but you can share them if you wish. This thread will be used to discuss peoples results etc throughout the season if anyone wants to participate in that as well.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/predictor

We will be using the BBC's Premier League Predictor where you can input your predictions right up until kick off. Nobody else can see your picks put everyone can see the leader board. However, if you wish to post your choices in here you can do. Here's how the BBC Predictor works: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36230678
