4641  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Recommend me a POS coin on: October 10, 2015, 06:23:33 AM
I want to invest a bit in POS, as I have not a good computer for mining. I am currently trying with NET, which gives around a 27% annual rate and is very easy to stake.

Any recommendation for a good POS coin?

How much is a bit? The best investment is to get a good coin developer to make a Blackcoin fork for you. You will probably need a good deal of upfront funds for this. Get a good graphics designer too. Don't forget to get a shill or two as well. Then launch it as IPO on C-Cex or YoBit. Promise all kinds of vaporware. However, make sure you do not over promise or you risk not getting your IPO funds and be forced to refund. Make sure you have enough BTC to buy your own coin during IPO. As soon as your BTC are released to you, move off of exchange. Then in the wee hours of the morning US time, dump all the coins you bought during your IPO. Make sure you give a good cut to the developer. Repeat these steps every 3 weeks.
4642  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Recommended cryptocurrency creation service? on: October 10, 2015, 06:03:49 AM
I'm ignoring you. I haven't even created the crypto coin yet, and you're already saying, "It's a scam."

Oh, and what part of, "Insured against loss," did you miss?! As in I'm gonna buy INSURANCE to make sure the investors do not lose their money. What dumbass "scammer" would PAY money to buy insurance? Scammers TAKE money, right?!

Good luck getting that policy underwritten.
4643  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin creation on: October 10, 2015, 05:24:37 AM
When IPO/ICO  Huh

Never. Like I said many time, what I wanted was to know how it works. I thank UserVVIP to provide me the first constructive reply, but like I stated before, Scrypt is not what I'm interested in. But maybe the process is the same for every algo ? And how is the blockchain officialy "lauched" ?

The blockchain is launched when you succeed in creating the genesis hash, and establish a viable network. It is possible to try and bypass the genesis block and use the same hash as another coin. However; if you are wanting to learn, that would be taking a shortcut.(And if you tried to release your coin to the public, you would be called out on it.) I tried to learn this a couple of month ago myself, but got too impatient. I could never succeed compiling a Windows wallet on Windows. I had to run Ubuntu in a virtual machine and compile a Windows wallet with mxe. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1080289.0
4644  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MrPUMP - your guide to what whales are doing on: October 10, 2015, 04:43:59 AM
how does this pumping thing work exactly? several users pumping a coin?

Well i`m not an expert on it, but I just see HIFUN as a very good investment for short term, it is 1 satoshi now and can possibly go to 10-15 satoshi easily considering it has a market cap that is very low.

So if somebody buys now for 1 satoshi he can make a +1500% gain fairly easily Cheesy

This ICO scam has much better chances of going to 0 sats. 3,000,000,000 * 0.8 / 100,000,000 = 24 BTC loot. Not bad.

It cant go to 0 because 1 satoshi is the minimum price. I invested in this coin and so far tons of people are buying just check the trade history, you`ll be amazed:

https://yobit.net/en/trade/HIFUN/BTC

It's all green, after it breaks the 1 satoshi wall, it can go 3-4-5 and up very fast. Any coin can get big from yobit, this is not the first time it happened.

You can get to zero. If the ask goes all the way to 1 sat and no one is buying, the coin is effectively of zero value.

Seems everyone else can sync wallet but me.....  not fair, LOL

I have no clue why it won't work... have re-started, re-loaded, tried using the bootstrap.....  i'm dead in the water.

You've upgraded to v1.2, right?

Yes, I did.
Does the logfile show any errors at all? You could try to contact rat4 via IRC (#blackcoin @ freenode IRC)

If everything else fails: Backup everything, then you could try to export your private key, set up a completely fresh wallet, import your key into the new wallet, rescan.

Yes, looks like I'll have to start over......
the debug.log file is filled with errors, but at block 751......and it always stops at 136391 or 136392......

Here are the last few entries from the log; it is full of errors about orphan block 751.......
oops, i can't past here, i guess

Make sure your ant-virus isn't putting the blk0001.dat in quarantine. I was having trouble too, and found out my antivirus didn't like something that was added to the blockchain. Since blk0001.dat is not an executable, it shouldn't harm you computer. You may need to whitelist the file.

Just got my invitation to test POS3 beta  Smiley

Interesting, because I put my name in the hat and have heard nothing. Too bad, because if I did, I would have put a snip of the message and the beta wallet in my dropbox for all to see. Seeing is believing. (Well sort of since there is photoshop.) For now, I don't believe it at all.

Anyone who can share some working nodes?
Try these.
Code:
addnode=75.83.220.25
addnode=95.90.218.108
addnode=188.129.36.46
addnode=84.245.28.177
addnode=173.88.17.232
addnode=86.1.136.21
addnode=172.251.42.63
addnode=85.25.200.125
addnode=92.21.131.231
addnode=173.88.17.232
addnode=73.203.5.98

Don't forget to make sure to have port 45104 opened in your router and make sure cyrptbit.exe is allowed through your operating system's firewall. It appears that is how I finally got my wallet connected.

Let's get these coins moved over to C-CEx for quick dump on pump groups' heads. Grin

My wallet is still connected and staking. Not sure why others are having trouble.  Huh

Someone post some nodes.

Well, by some miracle, my wallet finally got one connection to 78.62.83.197:51242. Moved all the coins out of local on on to C-Cex. Dump incoming. Can't wait to wash this out of my hair.

lol if you really wanted to sell it faster, you would not be writing this post. This post is more like fud to buy more coins.

My dump of all 20 coins has been logged. You can see it yourself.

To think I believed in this coin and was cheering for it, now days later I come back I thought I was looking at the wrong coin the price is just ridiculous I've not tried logging into wallet is it broken? Whats gone on?

Looks like the seed nodes and block explorer are offline. I can't get my wallet to connect either.

Is the network dead too? I can't get any connections with the wallet. Was never able to get more than 2 connections, ever.

lol everyones crying scam, and I'm buying more.

Yep, people think it's game over when top 5 wallets on C-Cex still have over 600K coins. Do they think these whales are really just bag holding so they can lose BTC?

I can consider myself lucky selling at 11k. 10% is better than holding and waiting for miracles. Saying that I might re-buy some now.

Wait for mega-dump round 2 before placing your new orders. The 1st dump does not appear to have the effect of causing panic sell, yet.

any objection moving to full POS ?

I can try doing it with only hard fork (no coin-swap)

That seems like a good direction to take this coin.
4656  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Jahvinci's Marijuana Coin - Coming Soon! on: October 05, 2015, 03:24:57 AM
will watch very closely since this guy seems to have all the pre-work done already (not empty promises of vaporware tech like so many scam coins these days) and big connections/marketing background.  assuming he pulls it off it could be something solid.  good luck.

funny seeing ppl argue and froth when a person makes an attempt to actually create a LEGIT coin and infrastructure without a thread full of shills and smoke/mirrors.  what a shitshow this site is.

if you don't like or care about the coin or what it stands for, don't fucking buy it then.
+420 I'm watching this coin too. Would love to get in on the ground floor of one of these types of coins since I see the potential market on every street corner where I live. Smiley
4657  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Jahvinci's Marijuana Coin - Coming Soon! on: October 05, 2015, 02:29:44 AM
Given the right marketing even dirt has value. What do think the potting soil they sell at the gardening center is?

But PoW already gives value to coins and if you add marketing into the mix you get a coin with real value.

There are lots of POW coins that now have no value at all, despite how much electricity was put into creating them. How a coin is marketed is the only thing that gives a coin value. Besides, in order to create a POS coin, one needs a running CPU, RAM and an internet connection. Also one needs a running node that stores the block chain on a hard disk. POS coins really are not "free" at all.
4658  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Jahvinci's Marijuana Coin - Coming Soon! on: October 05, 2015, 01:33:23 AM
Ah, POS only. Pfft. Miners are a dying breed. I.....can't. ....feel ..my.....toes.!
 Anyway, good luck mate. It'll be good.

PoS only will never ever work long term.

Why's that? I believe it's the only viable long-term..

PoS doesn't have any floor value because they have no cost of production unlike PoW coins.
The sole value PoS coins have is coming from people convincing others that they're actually worth something but in reality they are just literally magic internet money with imaginary value and nothing to back them up.

You make a good point, my friend. As, on other posts, I look up to you. Proof of Stake is a value in, and of, itself, though. If you hold, the value holds with you. It only decreases in value when you get on the market again. I am not sure how to word it correctly, but the value is in the hold. And depending on the POS staking, one could walk away with a hefty accumulation.

Thanks mate, but since holding coins gives everyone who already own coins even more coins in a proportionate manner, I feel that completely offsets the increase in value because every single staker will end up with more coins for free (other than owning the coins). So in reality, the only way for stakers to get out with a profit is if there are new people in the market willing to buy the coins for whatever reason which means it's a very predictable and artificial market which is similar to ponzi's. PoS is like everyone winning the lottery and all expecting to get rich not realizing that their individual gain is negligible because they have to share with everyone else.

Your assumption is that the only purpose of this coin will be to attract altcoin investors. If the developer can properly market this coin, so that it actually has some use beyond mere speculation purposes, then it will create a demand. Unfortunately, none of the other coins using this theme have been overly successful at this. Time will tell.

Real life usage is still irrelevant when the base value of the coin is imaginary or agreed upon by a few people based on arbitrary things. Coins are completely free to create by staking so it doesn't matter what you can do with them. You might as well can ry giving dirt value by giving it use but at the end of the day dirt is useless because it's free to come by.

Given the right marketing even dirt has value. What do think the potting soil they sell at the gardening center is?
