4641  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Automated Trading Challenge - Start 0.015 BTC on: January 09, 2020, 05:06:39 PM
If it's your mind, I have nothing to argue with you. I just see most of you are wasting a lot of money on some damn bot.

This “damn bot” is the reason why I have learned trading. It’s different for other people but for me, it’s just a risk I’m willing to take. Are you even sure I’m wasting money? This is a transparent way to share how one person could utilize a bot. This is not my main trading account, this is for people who are possibly interested with using one.

In fact, I don't know about anyone that has made a profit from what the bot does, they always lose at a few moments, but the amount of money is huge compared to the winning amount.
Then again, it’s not magic. There are a lot of factors to consider. It’s important that you know how to trade while optimizing, that’s why I’m here trying to be transparent in the parameters that I use and methods, etc.

Will enable notification and see your results
Hopefully, in the long run, there would be a great result.  Wink
4642  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin & Centralization on: January 09, 2020, 03:29:32 PM
It's not centralized, and it's nowhere going to be. You may think that, but everyone else had that opportunity to get some Bitcoins in insane amounts when you got in it earlier than the others. You could've mined that too if you had the time to discovered Bitcoin more previously. It's lucky timing with their holdings, and I don't think it's going to be scary knowing that there are those kinds of distributions. There's nothing you could do but continue your own business, right?
4643  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Automated Trading Challenge - Start 0.015 BTC on: January 09, 2020, 08:32:49 AM
Your experiment is a work that helps the community. But I do not support it. I have seen a few others doing experiments with trading bots like you. All they gain is the bot's botched truth. They have spent a considerable amount of money on those experiments. Do not waste your money Sad it is my advice
Thanks for your opinion but I don't think you understand the current reasons why this is being done. I suggest you show me those "a few others" you are talking about and I'm going to tell why it's different. Maybe you just don't understand trading at all. Probably they don't have the right tools or parameters but it's a work in progress. It's not magic like you think it would be. Thanks for not supporting this because I know you can't even support your own statement anyway. Lol.
4644  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Automated Trading Challenge - Start 0.015 BTC on: January 09, 2020, 03:32:12 AM
Have you checked for profitability of your strategy without rsi filter? That's what I'm talking about. I had a strategy that in my mind should perform better with this type of 'insurance' filter but actually it did hurt the performance. F.e. 2 moving averages crossover simply earned more money if i didn't use RSI filter or stop losses. In many markets that is.
I did but I think in general, it made more bad trades, maybe since I'm using the BB strategies and not what you suggested with the MA. Maybe I could try and find a better strategy and I could make more threads like this because it's good to actually see things happening. I'm just not yet satisfied with the current results now. Still not yet up to the resistance of my capital, Lol.

hmmm, gunbot doesn't seem to be as effective as what people say. I think that the person who executes the trade using the bot still has to make a lot of adjustments.
How could you say it's not effective when it's trading for you? The software is doing what it needs to do, it's the strategy that you need to optimize in order to have the best result. That's why I'm doing this to test the current strategy that I have, BB and RSI.

Would GunBot be suitable for trading using daily, or 3-day charts?
Yes. It would depend on the exchange that you have, so if it supports a 60-minute chart or weekly charts, you could set it.

4645  Economy / Reputation / Re: Overview of recent username changes in Bitcointalk on: January 08, 2020, 05:04:51 PM
I did notice a couple of users who have changed their usernames. Thank you for making a summary.

I remembered the time when I was still a newbie, and there are still a couple of signature campaigns back then that accept that rank. I luckily got taken in that campaign when someone impersonated my account, the link of the impersonator here and posted a change of BTC address IIRC. When that happened, I reported it to the mod, and I think it got banned.

So the point of my story above is that, after reporting it and whatnot, my username changed. From a capital "C" to a small letter "c". "Crwth" to "crwth" I know I registered it as a capital C, but I just remembered it now that that is the moment.

Do you guys think I will be given a chance to make it into a capital letter again? I know that it's a small thing, but it somewhat matters. Lol.
4646  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Qatar Bans CryptoCurrency on: January 08, 2020, 11:37:09 AM
I saw that the title has the phrase "Blanket Ban on Cryptocurrency Businesses."

I immediately searched for what does a blanket ban means, and what I saw is that it's a complete and total ban of a particular subject, in this case, cryptocurrency businesses. So I'm not sure that it's safe to say that cryptocurrencies are still allowed, but the act on companies and services that accept cryptocurrencies are not allowed? So I have done more research about it and saw this tweet by @QFCRA states the definitions of "Virtual Asset Services" [1]

It does include all the transfer, holding, exchange of assets, etc. So they made it clear that they don't want to be a part of the cryptocurrency community. But like what the others said, it's until further notice.

Maybe they have something behind the curtain, working on their technology or something. We still have to find out.

4647  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The reason behind creating Bitcoin. on: January 08, 2020, 10:06:57 AM
I would put my opinion on this as I understood from the Introduction in the Bitcoin Whitepaper [1]. The objective of Satoshi Nakamoto is that the need to have a cryptographic based electronic payment system instead of the trust that is usually given to the middlemen. No more third party. I don't think there's anything more to say because the objective is clear on that one.

4648  Local / Pamilihan / Re: How I Got Tricked and Lost all my Cryptos stored in Coins.ph on: January 08, 2020, 01:47:33 AM
Kasi even if you give your username and password, you should be protected by the 2FA, just like what the others said. It's recommended to activate something like that to protect your account. Ang hirap din naman kasi kung wala kang gagawin at sa tingin mo, simple username at password ay okay na, lalo na kung pareparehas pa yung password mo all through out your accounts.

Ang alarming lang nito, mukhang kaya na ng hacker mang hijack ng number ng mga online platforms to make the text look legit.
I'm just not sure how that happened. I think the hacker could be one of their employees? That or they have a weak system. I'm probably not going to store a lot of coins with them if this keeps up. Nakakaawa yung mga nag comment dun sa post nila na yun.  Sad
4649  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How would you define Blockchain Technology in a single phrase? on: January 07, 2020, 03:43:57 PM
Voted for “Decentralized recording of financial transactions”

I Think it doesn't capture everything that what blockchain means, but in a sense, I like that phrase because of the transparency of transactions that are recorded on the chain, and everything is correct and could be looked up by anyone who wants to check. Since cryptocurrencies are for transactions, peer to peer, it's appropriate to call it that.

I like how Coin_trader casually says his own definition. Lol.
4650  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You the local Bitcoin joke in town? on: January 07, 2020, 10:11:38 AM
My account registration has nothing to do with this. I bought bitcoins when the price was around $300 and I made very good profits on those coins. My friends saw this and they wanted to do the same, so I showed them what to do.
Sorry, I misunderstood the totality and didn't understand that it's just your friends . I thought you were included in it and I worried that why would you be included in those times? You're a veteran here already and I just didn't completely absorb what you posted.

Unfortunately most of them did not listen to my advice to buy low and sell high, so they jumped in at the ATH in 2017. I do not blame myself for their mistakes, because I gave them good advice at the time, they were just greedy. (I even softened the blow to some of them, by covering some of their losses, with some of profits that I made in previous years.)
If you have advised them, then it's not your fault. It's totally theirs unless you made it your mission to make them buy. Sadly, those days are gone for now. Maybe in a few years, we could go back to those all-time highs.

What a good friend you are, giving them BTC. I have bought it during the ATH, can you send me some too? Just kidding  Cheesy
4651  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker talk - Specifically Hold'em - Hands and or strategy on: January 07, 2020, 05:07:56 AM
I usually practice on a mobile phone where you play Texas Hold'em poker and play with imaginary chips. That's how I remember the possible strategies that could happen on the real table. Just like what others said, it's helpful to know how strong your hand you are dealt with and if it's still effective when the flop happens and when it's the end game. I play with my friends and bet a small amount of money, and it's just for fun.

Practicing the poker face is hard, though, especially when you are playing with friends who knows you a lot. Bluffing makes it even worse, and you will catch the lie given. Lol. Good times.
4652  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin pumping because of Tesla boy? on: January 06, 2020, 04:43:54 PM
It's so funny that you call him Tesla Boy instead of other things like "The Real Iron Man" or something related to that, lol. Anyway, someone as influential as Elon Musk has a large group of followers on Twitter. I did some research, and I found out that it wasn't a recent tweet, or maybe someone could point out the recent one? All I could find is this link below.

https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-45953747

I don't think it's the cause, and it's quite old news. I see as Tesla and Bitcoin has almost the same start. I don't imagine to have two coincidences where the stock price rose of Tesla and Bitcoin rose in price as well automatically are linked.
4653  Other / Meta / Re: Does this tread really deserve the attention it has got? on: January 06, 2020, 02:54:50 PM
The one TMAN gave is a whole lot better compared to this thread linked below.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5215183.msg53531936

Just like what I have said there on that topic, if it were during the time of the birth of merits, it would have been easily considered to be "suspicious" rather than spending their own merits to whatever post they want. Nowadays, it's best and easier to get merit just because of the users' accumulation or the circulation that merit sources get.

The OP shouldn't rely too much on checking others' posts and posting about it, maybe asking the giver, knowing that he is an active member, what he thought about the post, and why he gave it to the poster.
4654  Local / Pamilihan / Re: How I Got Tricked and Lost all my Cryptos stored in Coins.ph on: January 06, 2020, 09:21:45 AM
I recently saw the ad that they have with regards to that. Ang naalala ko is meron silang photos na iwas phishing sites which are not connected to the original one. Ang nakakapag taka talaga is pano nila na access yung pang text nila knowing na hindi naman dapat basta basta naaaccess yun. You should always have your accounts connected to 2FA no matter what because that's one of the things na could protect you when your username and password are compromised.

Saw this post on Facebook. Please be vigilant guys.

4655  Other / Meta / Re: 50 merit for an non-contribute topic on: January 06, 2020, 08:24:26 AM
If this happened during the time when Merit was introduced, it would almost automatically lead to the saying that it's an alt. Easily connected, but now that Merit has been part of the norm, all you could just say is it is an abuse. You can never really tell what happened unless the user gives an explanation but as long as you could see the quality of the post, it's really not worth that much IMHO.
4656  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Automated Trading Challenge - Start 0.015 BTC on: January 06, 2020, 04:59:46 AM
Yea I think it has only upsides. The history of screenshots/updates will still be visible in your posts but it will be way easier to navigate the thread when we get to these 100 pages Tongue
Thank you for your contribution, maybe, in the long run, there would be a great result. At least it's a humble beginning and transparent.

Think you should try backtesting. It's not only binary test as in working/not working for a strategy but you can simply tweak it easily and increase your edge without risking any capital. When I checked for crossings of moving averages, they worked way better without a stop loss. Also adding RSI filter has lowered the profitability.
I did a couple of backtesting before like this. See the picture below

You could check the profitability, net profit, percent profitability, and anything that you could get in TradingView. It's an additional extension for your Gunbot and you could test out your strategies there easily. I know that I haven't completely backtested it yet but I think it's okay to consider since I'm limiting my trades with RSI. It's better to make sure.
4657  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bot trading domination: Time to panic? on: January 06, 2020, 02:11:33 AM
I don't know why people think that it's terrifying to have a bot trade for you. It's something that could be done, and it's highly effective. It helps people who are busy to trade 24/7 without having to worry about anything else as long as the person makes sure that it is a trusted source. If you think about it, it's bots that are executing the trade, but there's always a person behind the account, who funds the capital, etc. Maybe there are more competition with bots in this year. A lot more algorithms could work and be invented, and we will not know this until we are there.
4658  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You the local Bitcoin joke in town? on: January 05, 2020, 10:36:25 PM
I don’t understand how that could happen because you registered your account in 2014 And it’s impossible to buy your bitcoin only on the year when it came to your all-time high. It’s just not right. Maybe it just happens to be your friend's story But not yourself. This is not cool, lol.
4659  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto Gambling on Mobile Devices on: January 05, 2020, 06:22:57 PM
I have gambled using my mobile phone only on the website. I didn’t have any trouble accessing it in the browser that I have (brave). I think that’s one of the critical Features that a gambling website Should have because a lot of people are on the go and want to be entertained for a couple of minutes and go back to the real world. I do that sometimes whenever I feel stressed or have the time to recover my thoughts. I don’t want to gamble for a long time because I think it’s going to be more unlucky for me.

My go-to sites now are Bitsler and Stake. They have great mobile GUI.
4660  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Survey: if you have $50k fiat ,will you invest in btc or put it in bank? on: January 05, 2020, 11:35:40 AM
I would consider a couple of things
  • is it my only money?
  • do I still have other assets and not just the 50k?

If I only have that money, I would consider prioritizing stuff that I need funds for, like living expenses, needs, education, etc. But if I have other assets to do, I would take it lightly and decide by researching different possible investments that I could have that would lead to my money grow even more.

Some parts that I should consider is the emergency funds, making sure I have money when the inevitable happens. That's the critical part.
