4661  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Your opinion on recreational drug use on: May 13, 2017, 06:00:10 PM
My opinion is that all drugs are evil. You offer a choice between quick death and slow. What's the difference, you will still die. Why? Even better would be all drugs .
How can an inanimate object be evil? Please explain.

From all types of death I'd pick painless, so I might need drugs in future, especially if I get cancer or any other painful disease. You can choose not to take them and suffer, but it won't change the facts. Drugs have their purpose and can be helpful if used correctly.
4662  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-05-11]Maryland Man Gets Scammed Buying Car via a Bitcoin ATM on: May 13, 2017, 05:55:39 PM
He had no idea how to use Bitcoin, but used it without spending a minute to read how it works. He was all head in the clouds driving his dream car.
If it wasn't Bitcoin, but someone came to pick up the cash, he would have fallen for the scam all the same. I don't know how you guys do it in the US of A, but we usually drive there and take a look at the car before buying it, because the pictures usually don't show much.
4663  Other / Meta / Re: What to do if you blocked the accounts of the whole office? on: May 13, 2017, 05:28:54 PM
Many of them are the same person:

Yes, it is better to share with others Cheesy For one person this is too much alcohol even such good.

Yes, so did many.

Yes, I do not have too much earning for bitcoins so I can afford to give up the main job and live only for the profits from bitcoin.

Yes, sometimes it can be useful. But I doubt that people want to run a robot for good purposes.

Same paid avatar, posts in Russian, very similar style of writing, where he frequently opens with "yes,"
Nice office you had there.

This account fizamcc https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=914279 is very similar to nizamcc https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=914279
The real one seems to be from India and the other from Russia, so i'd say an impersonation attempt, not an alt.
I'm actually amazed that he managed to run so many accounts for so long. Even the sole amount of impersonated (stolen?) nicknames should have got him discovered and banned.
4664  Other / Meta / Re: Accounts waking up on: May 13, 2017, 04:56:26 PM
Read part of the list and you can find some interesting examples, like alts waking up at the exact same second:
Today at 12:17:20 AM - test016 - woke up
Today at 12:17:20 AM - test022 - woke up
Today at 12:17:15 AM - test021 - woke up

I guess he used some kind of bot or script to load all of them so fast.

Or obvious bannable names like theyimos https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=355834
4665  Other / Meta / Re: Lauda has Broken the GuideLine of the Trust System by theymos own words, ban her on: May 13, 2017, 04:32:23 PM
I think that a guideline is not a rule, so banning someone for not following guidelines is a bit too much.

Of course the trust system is being spammed and abused, and I don't agree with people giving negative trust to people they don't like or consider spammers. Spamming is bannable, so these people should be reported and it's up to a mod to decide their fate. Trust comments should be given only if you transacted with that person or were a witness of an obvious scam attempt.
4666  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is the right number of BTC to own in order to become rich in 10 years?? on: May 09, 2017, 07:28:29 PM
All i need in this life is 500k$. For me, it is enough to feel rich.

I don't care if it is 1btc=500k$ or 500btc=500k$. 500k$ is the constant, any other number which stands on the opposite side of the equation can change freely. Because of my aim is considerably high for average people (and me), I  consider myself as a long term investor. That's why I built a portfolio of various assets and when once of those loses value dramatically, i buy more of it.

I sometimes think, i wish i've bought 20 bitcoins when it was 200$ but it is pointless now because it is past time.
You're not a true Bitcoiner if you keep looking at USD and you treat BTC like a way to obtain USD. The ultimate goal should be to drop USD completely in favor of BTC and be able to transact with cryptos everywhere you go starting from a public toilet and ending with a Bugatti dealership Wink

Also I can bet here and now that once you get $500 and start living on it, being able to buy all the things you need at the moment, you'll soon want more. You'll wish you had another $500k, because then you'd be able to also buy stuff for your wife, parents, kids, and so on. There's never enough money!
4667  Bitcoin / BitcoinJ / Re: Received and Lost Bitcoins in 1 minute!!! on: May 09, 2017, 07:20:12 PM
for someone to steal ur coins so fast means they have your private key.

things to check

think about all bitcoin related downloads you have
have you ever downloaded any of them scammy "bitcoin generators"
where did you get your bitcoinJ from

did the bitcoinj program generate your address or did you import it from another program/pc previously.
Those are great points. Also check if:
you have an antivirus software and it's up to date, try scanning your pc.
you are sharing a connection with other people via lan/wifi? It's quite easy to access pc through wifi and even easier through LAN
anybody else have access to your computer (roommates, friends)

Someone suggested a keylogger. This would only give away his wallet passphrase, not his private key. If he only generated the address and never displayed or copied the private key, he'd be safe. It looks like full access hack with the thief being in control of his OS account and logging in remotely, or his Bitcoin address was generated in a hacked wallet (not downloaded from a trusted site) that shared the priv key with the hacker.
4668  Bitcoin / BitcoinJ / Re: Received and Lost Bitcoins in 1 minute!!! on: May 09, 2017, 07:05:34 PM
The money ended up in a very big wallet, that contains almost 80 thousand addresses. Looks like an exchange.
https://www.walletexplorer.com/wallet/00015efc88765e70/addresses
Maybe someone can identify it. It's not impossible to track down the thief, but you'd have to get in touch with the owners of this exchange.

This person had access to your address before you even got the money. He waited until the transaction is confirmed and instantly sent the money to a brand new address in an empty wallet (1Ja8Kxn7oeYbc7wWqoVCCqCmygRLEVR3qv).
4669  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Good way to mine on: May 09, 2017, 06:54:24 PM
What is the best way to mine bitcoin today?
By having "ASIC" mining rigs (lots of it).

Is it always profitable?
No, it's not. A lot come into factor when profit is the target, like electricity rate, having a miner that functions normally, the difficulty factor (that mostly goes up) and the possible repair fees that add up along the process.
You forgot about the possibility of a fire, theft, miners breaking due to surges, lightning strikes, or just component failure.
There's also an issue with transport, fees, the possibility of equipment being lost, stolen or damaged in transport.
There are also losses coming from downtime due to from network failure, so it's needed to monitor the miners 24/7. The Chinese, who are really serious about this business,  basically live in their mines.
4670  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining as a business?? on: May 09, 2017, 06:44:57 PM
It's not worth your time. All the paperwork, hiring staff, security, converting a location into a data center...
If you go completely legal with it, business style, you won't make much. Profits from mining aren't that high if the price stays in the same range, most of the profits usually come from the increased value of your coins. That's why in 2014 miners got in trouble, because the price was much lower than the cost of mining. If you have a small operation in your backyard you can sit and wait, but if you have to pay your employees and the price stays low for a year or 2, then you're in trouble.
4671  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What do I get? on: May 09, 2017, 06:38:36 PM
for bitcoin you can only mine with some profit, using antminer s9, which is the top one, until they make the new more effiicient miners

You really can't make your own miner due to technical issues. You could, but it'd be immensely expensive and it'sd take lots of programming and effort. Due to this you have several choices, all from Bitmain or Avalon, the A7, S9, R4, or T9. Bitmain tends to have worse durability and support as well as horrible repairs so I usually tell people to go with Avalon for serious mining operations. They're not efficiency-wise better than Bitmain's miners but they're reliable and that matters when mining.

i would be curious to know about the cost production for making antminers s9 on large scale, if they sell them for $1k or so, they are not spending more than $500, usually the aim is to have 2x of the cost of production
They must have access to cheap Chinese or Malaysian production lines, the same lines that assemble fake electronics like Iphones and stuff. They can make anything you want, you just have to provide the schematics and the cost is very low, so i'd say a lot of the price goes for the designer of the new chip and a PCB it's put on.
4672  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BTC getting too expensive to gamble with on: May 09, 2017, 06:27:14 PM
It will never get too expensive. The reality is that gambling will continue to exist even if Bitcoin is worth $10000. Want to know why? Because the price in USD is relative. It can go up or down and it has never affected people's choices. A couple years back Bitcoin was worth $300 and people gambled, now it's 1,5 thousand and people gamble. Most people don't and won't see a reason to stop.
4673  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Somali minister shot dead near presidential palace on: May 09, 2017, 06:21:00 PM
I always look for a second bottom, so i'd say they were paid to assassinate him. "identified as a threat" WTF? A guy was driving a bulletproof limo with (most likely) government plates or other signs and they started shooting at him? No terrorist would choose an expensive bulletproof car as his transport. Also how the hell did they go through the armor? I bet the car looked like a swiss cheese after that "accident"
4674  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Gay "Recruitment" on: May 08, 2017, 03:27:38 PM
I'm not against gays as long as they keep to themselves. How come some people can be gay and nobody apart from their family and friends know about it? I'm not going to invade their privacy and discuss their sex life. It's their life and their choice.
I'm against raging gays who parade half naked, scream for gay rights and want to teach kids at school how good it is to be gay.
4675  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Where would society be without the internet? on: May 08, 2017, 03:22:56 PM
It's not to difficult to answer this question.
Just ask your parents about their life before Internet age.
I remember that we, as kids, played outside whole day.
Now, kids are all day on social networks, and have only virtual friends.
After job, I will come back home and have free and relax time with my family.
Now, my boss can find you at any moment, and ask to work at home, if necessary.
Yes, Internet is great for business or communication but now, we have less freedom and free time than before.
True, I'm sure we'd be healthier if we didn't spend as much time online. Nowadays half of the population is having sight problems and have to wear glasses or lenses and people are making billions on laser corrections.
The only downside of life without the internet is lack of information. You wouldn't know that someone in your area is selling a house or renting a flat without buying a newspaper and looking something up would take much more time. No Wikipedia, no Google maps...
4676  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Would killing the minimum wage help? on: May 08, 2017, 03:18:43 PM
It's okay to be part of the minimum wage community because you have no tax. (That's in my country, I'm not sure with other places) I'm a minimum wage earner and I currently enjoy what I'm doing because of the possibilities that I could do and be thankful that I have a job is what keeps me going, it's not all about the money. I thank Bitcoin for being a part of my sources of income too.
In most countries you unfortunately are taxed. In the EU most countries have a tax threshold set below the minimum, so you have to be employed half-time to avoid it.
In some countries the tax threshold is set below the level of welfare. This means that if you are poor and receive welfare throughout the year, you'll come up above the threshold! That's one of the dumbest laws, but who am I to argue?
4677  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: where can i buy bitcoins? on: May 08, 2017, 03:11:40 PM
Localbitcoins is the best place to buy bitcoins as there are many trusted traders with high trust ratings and as soon as they receive your deposit they will transfer bitcoins instantly to your wallet.
It's as good as any other. Localbitcoins is ok only if you're willing to meet up and have time for it all. Also in many areas there are no nearby vendors.
It's much easier and faster to simply make an account on one of the more anonymous exchanges like btc-e and have coins on your personal wallet in 30 min.

Localbitcoins is the go to place to really buy bitcoins. But sometimes the rates there are pretty bad, it just depends on your area, I guess. Though all other service will likely charge more, others even charge about 10% which is totally outrageous already.
And it's totally not worth it if you're thinking about trading, because you'll have to set up an account with one of the exchanges either way and that 10% can make a huge difference. It can take months for Bitcoin to gain enough value for you to earn anything. Localbitcoins is ok only if you're trying to stay anonymous and avoid the big brother Wink
4678  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-05-08] Unconfirmed Bitcoin Transactions Reach 150k on: May 08, 2017, 03:05:37 PM
I suspect Ver and company, because he's the only unhinged rich asshole that has enough funds to screw with Bitcoin, and the agenda to do it.

Ver & Co could indeed play a major role, but don't rule out the hidden agendas of the larger mining farms that have absolutely no moral problems with forcing people to pay a higher fee by choking the network with rubbish transactions - especially if it is a combined effort. Rubbish transactions will likely not confirm, and thus drop with the result that the entity behind the spam attack doesn't lose anything. In that regard, to a certain extent it's free to do for them, with a major impact on the network as result.
Such spam can not only be used to push an agenda like BU, but it could also be an attempt to crash the price. It's all about the money, do not forget that.
If you look at charts it worked. Bitcoin went up by $200 and down by about $150 when the spam started. Somebody made a lot of money on that move.

4680  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Top 5 reasons to trust Bitcoin on: May 05, 2017, 01:32:18 PM
This Monday for my weekly video I made a quick list of reasons that Bitcoin is trustworthy. This is mostly geared towards new users.

https://youtu.be/m74t8gBjtcY

Nicely done, I liked the story about a mud pie boy Smiley You're covering the basics in a nice and easy to understand way. If I were a new user it would get me interested.
Keep up the good work.
