it doesn't work that way. look at the faq
4667  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Disappearing solo miners on: June 01, 2011, 03:51:49 PM
I've been mining solo all along and plan to continue doing so, aside from a handful of CPUs that I don't pay electricity for.  My mining proceeds are running about 108% of theoretical, so I have no reason to join a pool.
if you pool hop, you can get 28% more
4668  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Multiple cards with PCI-E-x1 - newbie question on: June 01, 2011, 03:42:16 PM
Semi-relevant thread hijack:

What's the voltage that the PCI-E x1 can give? Is it possible to run a dual GPU card through a PCI-E x1 extender, a 5970 for example.
+12v i think

can't find it

nice try, noob.

You shouldn't try to deceive the faithful. I'll pray for you.
You shouldn't try to troll. I'll pray for you.

What do you spend the bitcoins people donate to you on?  CONTRACEPTIVES?!

This is exactly why I've started my own alternative: ChristCoin, which CAN'T be spent on anything the church disapproves of.  You can give your children their allowances in ChristCoin knowing that they can't be tempted.

There's probably more people like him. be careful when clicking links.

edit:
the user has since been banned, and all his post has been deleted. The site has also been taken down. But remember, be cautious.

I started mining with a new wallet, and got five orphans in a row. Are these transactions simply worthless?
yep
4676  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Reducing GPU load in mining (Diablo, python) on: May 31, 2011, 11:13:56 PM
why don't you just underclock? it's the same as reducing load, except there's no on-off-on-off-on cycle.
4677  Other / Obsolete (buying) / Re: Buying Namecoin for BTC on: May 31, 2011, 09:42:58 PM
at 225 namecoin per 1 btc, whoever is selling it to you is actually losing money, compared to mining bitcoins.
4678  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: "Mining sucks and I quit" Super Sale! on: May 31, 2011, 09:41:31 PM
those 5850s still in warranty..?

They're about a month old and I bought them new from TigerDirect, so presumably.  I haven't looked into the details of the warranty.
sapphire warren ties are non-transferable. They'll become suspicious when the address on the invoice does not match your return address.
4679  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: [SOLVED] Why transaction fee is so big? on: May 31, 2011, 09:39:38 PM
You must have received a ton of very small transactions. As a result, sending them all requires a lot of data. The fees are usually not so high.

I'm a newbie here, but this sets off a red flag in my mind.  If bitcoins really take off and end up being used for micro-transactions all over, won't this occur more and more often?  It just seems to me that as time goes on bitcoins will get more and more "fragmented" and split into tiny chunks, such that when you do need to spend a large amount it's going to be a "lot of data".

It seems that transaction fees will inexhaustibly increase without bound as time goes on and the data required just goes up and up.  Is there something I am missing that handles this issue?
transaction fees reflect the cost to process each transaction, so it will be adjusted over updates.
4680  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Multiple cards with PCI-E-x1 - newbie question on: May 31, 2011, 09:17:38 PM
I know crossfire isnt best way to mine, but my actual question is if mobo can support both cards.

@ buying MOBO - additional costs... I'm just trying to use hardware I already have.

@ cables - Im from europe - shipping cost and time are unacceptable
yes, pci-e x1 is pretty much the same as pci-e x16

oh, you can get x1 extenders for less than $5 shipped on ebay. although you'll have to cut it yourself. not hard.
