4701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Cardano (ADA) overvalued or undervalued? on: July 24, 2018, 10:08:49 AM
I bought into ADA when it was much lower than now. Now Cardano is sitting at a $14 billion market cap, it was $32 billion at the peak. Do you consider Cardano to be over- or undervalued ... and why?

Do you believe that it will be able to 'deliver more advanced features than any protocol previously developed' as it seeks to according to its website?

An old post, but what is still relevant is that when deciding whether a coin is overvalued, we need to consider how much it has been hyped. The whole market has declined since January, but Cardano is still in the top 10 in market cap. Most of the reason for this I think is still hype, in that everyone thinks it has huge potential even if they don't know the specifics of what they are trying to achieve. Really it's difficult to judge how much of the hype is justified, but it is certain that when a project is heavily hyped, then this is reflected in the price. If the hype cools, then the price will drop accordingly - even if the project is still just as good as it ever was.
4702  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Ethereum a good investment? on: July 24, 2018, 08:27:22 AM
Is Ethereum a good investment?

The short answer is yes.
Smart contracts will change the world, and bring in automation to what are now manual processes. ETH is the leading smart contract platform, and has a bright future. It's being used mainly as an ICO platform at the moment, but really its potential goes way way beyond that.
4703  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Your reaction to recent pump and then dump on: July 24, 2018, 08:07:02 AM
This is getting frustrating. I thought that we are now going to the moon because BTC surpassed $7000 resistance level and we saw that most altcoins follow. I bought ETH for $513 then now it is getting dump where the current price is $470. in just 12 hours, i lost $43. What is your reaction and strategy when altcoin gets pump?

I think patience is key. The signs are still that it will be a BTC pump followed by an alt pump. The options really are move your alts to BTC while BTC is rising, and then back to alts when BTC stops and alts start to rise. Or if you don't want to risk that, then just hold and wait. Personally I have both alts and BTC, and I don't trade much, so I'm just holding. There are better strategies, but these come with some risk.
4704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: will other coin beat btc in future ??? on: July 24, 2018, 07:47:30 AM
as we are seeing other coin such as litecoin ,monera, etherium , are faster in transaction than btc

They aren't all direct competitors with one another, and it's not a winner-takes-all situation. BTC seems to be mostly a store of value coin now, ETH is a smart contract platform, XRP is about fast cheap international banking.
So speed isn't necessarily the only consideration here. Each project has its own aims, and its own strengths and weaknesses.
4705  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: airdrop problems on: July 24, 2018, 07:34:13 AM
A lot of airdrops are worthless, some are good, and some are scam or phishing attempts.
Just remember to be careful, particularly in the rush for those with very limited places - never give away private key or any personal information. I have seen airdrops that ask for KYC - this is a big red flag for me - it's not worth the risk in giving away such valuable information in the hope of getting a few dollars worth of coins.
4706  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin in August? on: July 24, 2018, 07:14:35 AM
It is no longer news that Bitcoin went below 6k recently and all hell was let loosed but generally the coin remained within the 6k threshold. We are almost half of July and nothing drastic has happened as per the price of Bitcoin. Do we expect to see a serious upward trend beyond the current price in August?

It's looking good for BTC. Often when there is a bull run it starts with BTC going up and alts dropping as people sell alts to buy BTC, and then once BTC stops increasing, alts start their bull run. Fingers crossed that's what's happening this time. It does look quite likely, but in the end we are all guessing.
4707  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum ALL IN? on: July 23, 2018, 11:34:17 AM
Yes, it's a good time to buy most coins as I think another bull run is incoming.
And if you're buying, then ETH certainly is a great choice. It's one of the strongest projects in crypto.
4708  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH is falling. This numbers will blow your mind. on: July 23, 2018, 10:01:30 AM
I'm very confident that ETH is here to stay, and will always be a major player. It has happened before that ETH price falls when people decide to buy more BTC, and as others have said, projects that had ICOs last year on ETH are maturing and moving to their own chains. There is no reason to doubt the long-term value of ETH.

4710  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: This correction on Altcoins is just EPIC! on: July 20, 2018, 10:38:02 AM
I don't think it's that big a deal, and certainly not a reason to sell all of your long-term alts. Sometimes the market moves like this. If BTC pumps, some people sell some alts, if alts pump, some people sell some BTC.
Yes there is profit to be made by well-timed trading, but I don't think it spells the doom of the long-term holding strategy.
4711  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hodling requires perseverance on: July 20, 2018, 10:26:54 AM
The key to the long-term holding strategy is just buy your coins and then forget about them for however many months or years. So long as you have researched the coins, so you know it is a sound project with a big future, and so long as this isn't money that you might need to withdraw to cover real-world needs, then you can just buy and forget. Checking the markets every day or every hour isn't necessary if you have confidence in your coins and are planning to hold for the long-term.
4712  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who will be the new king on: July 20, 2018, 10:15:33 AM
Now the mainstream currency, BTC-ETH, has the upper hand, and they have the strength and technology, but the future is likely to be a new project to replace them more mature and more comprehensive. What do you think it would be?

Bitcoin and Ethereum don't really compete with one another. They have different purposes, different use-cases. They only seem to be competing in the sense that one coin has to have the highest market cap.

I don't think anything will necessarily replace them, but certainly other coins will rise to fill other functional niches. Fast and cheap payments for example isn't covered by either BTC or ETH, which is one reason that XRP has a high cap.
4713  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Worried about Crypto currency future on: July 20, 2018, 10:02:00 AM
Crypto is only just beginning to make its first moves towards the mainstream. We are starting to see institutional investment. Yes, prices have dipped this year, but that is only to be expected following the mega rise in December/January.

Crypto has almost limitless potential to change the world. It will definitely get adopted everywhere, for the simple reason that it is cheaper and more efficient than the alternatives. We live in a capitalist world - any company or country that doesn't adopt crypto will rapidly get left behind. Ignore all the FUD and scaremongering from the established global hegemony - they are scared of crypto because it is a threat to their own dominance.
4714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin down Altcoin down on: July 20, 2018, 09:29:01 AM
Is there any relationship between the two?
Whh must the fall of bitcoin after other altcoins?

Because of trading pairs. Everything tends to trade against either Bitcoin or Ethereum, but not against fiat. So if coin X has a price per coin of around 0.1 BTC, and then bitcoin shoots up in fiat value by 10%, the trading for coin X is likely to remain around 0.1 BTC... so effectively increasing in fiat value by 10% as well.
4715  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The Bull is Coming! on: July 19, 2018, 01:47:16 PM
I also think that a bull run is incoming. We have double-bottomed around $250 billion (whole crypto market). This is a demonstration of a lot of resistance to further drops past this point. This in turn leads to greater investor confidence. I think it is quite reasonable to expect this to be the lowest price point we'll see for the remainder of the year. I don't see much chance at all of the market dropping down past $200 billion.
4716  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is there still future for digital currency? on: July 19, 2018, 12:31:26 PM
As of now the price of each coin is very unstable, and the price of it just keeps going down. Ive seen a coin last year, that the price of each coin goes rapidly high. Its opposite as of now, almost below expected. Is this the end for the digital currency?

An old thread, but the answer is stil the same - no, it's not the end. Even if the whole crypto market falls another 50%, it's not the end. Crypto is here to stay. One explanation for this is that it is simply more efficient that what it is replacing, be that fiat money, or manual processes that are ripe for automation through smart contracts. Sometimes it may seem like the end of crypto because prices are so volatile - but this is just the sign of a young market.
4717  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sell token too early on: July 19, 2018, 11:24:12 AM
As a Bounty hunter I once made a mistake by selling tokens from Bounty that I received in a small market for $ 250. After 20 days the price of tokens that I sell is worth $ 1200. So the conclusion if you want to wait you will get maximum results. Believe every ICO project will prepare a good market in the future.

It does depend a lot on which project you have tokens from. The sad truth is that most projects fail, which is why many bounty hunters sell their tokens as soon as they can.
What this says to me is that it is very important to take part in bounties from only the best projects - that way you can feel confident in holding onto your tokens long term, and confident that the project will succeed as token price will increase.

4720  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Holding Altcoins Is Not Profitable Anymore on: July 06, 2018, 10:31:30 AM

This is based on my own experience as I still have any altcoins in my wallets right now and I don't want to sell as their value is just a small fraction compared to their ATH. I now realized that I should have sold them when they get into their ATH and use the funds for other endeavors that can produce more stable income or profits. We are in a very volatile and treacherous market and personally this is not suiting my personality as I am not a big risk taker myself. There is a big possibility that by next year I will be taking half of my attention and time to other ways to make money online since I can sense that there can be a coming realignment here that can shake the whole industry akin to the DotCom meltdown.

What is your experience with altcoins and cryptocurrency in general? And are you still a hard believer in the future of cryptocurrency?

Yes, I'm still a big believer. The price drops this year have been a response to the mega rise at the end of 2017. I don't think that crypto is in meltdown. A big correction was necessary, and is healthy for long-term growth. The market has now twice bottomed at around $250 billion, so there is plenty of resistance against further drops. I think we will see green again shortly, and that the pattern year on year will continue to be price increases and overall growth.
