@TheQuin. My low range is high lighted in yellow in the lower right corner (Total Market Cap 215 billion).

Which is based on what?

As the time has passed I'm trying to see if my bottom ranges have highered.

So have they? Over a month has passed since you posted this chart and the market seems to be establishing a 8k-12k range. How does that affect your prediction?
4702  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kobayashi and his malicious sellout 400 million USD on: March 09, 2018, 05:45:22 PM
I believe his job is to get the best price possible to reimburse those that lost out in the bankruptcy. If he didn't do that he would he would be negligent and get fired. His job description doesn't include any consideration to what effect that has on Bitcoin.
4703  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: March 09, 2018, 05:35:18 PM
While introduce in merit system, every rank person is set to the lowest merit score in that rank. This is unfair.it should have prorated according to the activity at that point of time. Agree?

I would agree but that doesn't really matter because it's too late to change it now and the one person who's opinion does matter doesn't agree.

... I considered giving merit proportional to activity, but I decided not to because doing so would probably give far more undeserved merit than deserved merit in total. But undoubtedly some people got screwed by this.....

4704  Economy / Speculation / Re: Just drew this out. I'm hopeful its wrong, but found this curious. on: March 09, 2018, 04:52:55 PM
@timerland When I first ran the analysis and came up with multiple levels where the market can go people would not believe anything slightly bearish; but, by late January when I came up with this chart I shared, people were certain we were on the way up - everyone was saying 'this is a healthy correction, look at the consolidation blah blah'. We touched are very low in 2018 in February. I thought this forum would be a great place to share insights with the cryptocurrency community and to help people, even if it is against their confirmation biases. I don't think I'm alone with the realization of where we're at in the market, mainly because we're there, but it was lonely back then when everyone gave me crap about it.

Anyway, I will continue to post insightful things. I have a knack and strong grasp of how, where, and why things are moving in cryptos.  Wink

Thank you,
OverTheCounter

The chart goes up to 2 days after the 6th Feb lows which are still in place. It still does like like a healthy correction and consolidation. I'm not making any prediction as to which direction it will break out of that consolidation but I'm struggling to find any insight in that chart.
4705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Now We Know Who Sold The Bottom At $6k And Tried To Crash Bitcoin on: March 09, 2018, 04:18:14 PM
It is a good that this guy sell in batches than selling all bitcoin at once. It is worrying since he sold only 20k BTC and still have 180k on hand. Does this mean we will be seeing more price dips?

Those numbers are wrong so how do you want to predict price based on them? Have a read of the thread and you might find some more accurate data.
4706  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: March 09, 2018, 04:09:46 PM
I noticed no new coins in 2018 altogether. Is this pool still alive?

Maybe try reading back the last few pages of the thread? I'm pretty sure if the pool was dead someone would have mentioned it. You might also learn some interesting things about mining.

This felt salty but funny at the same time. Deserved I guess, not the “lucky” moment for certain statements.

I haven't mined for a long time but this thread still shows up in my unread replies. It brings back painful memories of what a run of bad luck feels like. I also find it a bit baffling that people can invest in mining without first fully understanding how it works..... and don't get me starting on people not reading just a tiny bit before posting.
4707  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: March 09, 2018, 03:19:05 PM
This made it virtually impossible to level up.

Even if I write a really high-quality post, maybe 100 people really like it but only 2 of them have spendable merit because they used it already.

I don't understand how this system is supposed to help anyone level up?

Instead, it just makes sure that the people who already put in the work previously, will be rewarded for it.

It's virtually impossible to gather 250/ 500/ 1000 merit scores if you don't have the rank yet.

Really? I started on 250 Merit as a Sr Member so I need 250 to rank up to Hero. Since 24th January I've got 147 of those so only another 103 to get. It takes 8.5 months to get the activity required, so this isn't going to slow people down at all, let alone make it impossible.

4708  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: March 09, 2018, 02:25:53 PM
I never meant that one should compromise with the quality of posts while making those posts. I do agree with you regarding new members spending more time to acquire some knowledge first. Once that part is done and if a member is able to give sufficient time, he can post frequently. He will no doubt have more chances of getting merits than a member making less number of posts of same quality. It is just my opinion though based on my personal experience. I am not active on this forum for all seven days of the forum though as my other works do not allow me to.

The chances of getting merit are only enhanced if more people read the posts, that's not necessarily increased by posting more. Engaging in debate is far more likely to result in that than simply more volume.
4709  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: March 09, 2018, 02:16:43 PM
hello admin,
My post activity is 126.But still in the member position can you please explain me.

Your inability to read the information provided and unnecessary use of coloured text. Those two factors together mean you are destined to remain at Member rank forever.

But since people believe more posts will increase their chance on getting merrited, isn't this proof that this system is not working? I believe it is.

No, it's proof that a lot of people are stupid.

You must know the quote:

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. - Albert Einstein

Eventually, after shitposting relentlessly they'll work out they need to do something other than more shitposting to get merit.
4712  Other / Meta / Re: Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ on: March 09, 2018, 12:49:42 PM
Actually, it falls under rule #33 Wink

I might have misunderstood the question. I thought he meant someone was reposting their own replies. Either way both against the rules.
4713  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gox coins dumpage - what the screeching hell? on: March 09, 2018, 12:45:31 PM

I still can't see how they could have caused the decline in price though from looking at the prices in that time period and the average price they attained. If they had been selling the highs to trigger this thing then they should have got much more than 10K average.

Actually $10k is a pretty decent average. Remember that bitcoin has only really been above $10k for one month, in December 2017. So the trustee did well to wait as long as he did (since 2014) and then cash out.

Oh yeah, I wasn't saying from that standpoint. I'm just pointing out if they caused the sell-off they would have to have sold the highs and probably got 15-18k range. Getting an average 10k in the time period they did tells me that's all a load of FUD.
4714  Other / Meta / Re: Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ on: March 09, 2018, 12:40:21 PM
I could have sworn I read somewhere that copying a previous reply and posting it as your own is against the rules, but I didn't see (or missed) it on the OP.

For example, I reported this post yesterday: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2525508.msg31880383#msg31880383

because I remembered seeing it before and sure enough found the original: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2525508.msg31359812#msg31359812

Was I correct to report the post, or is this filed under "unsavory, but permissible"?

You were correct. It kind of falls under rule 12.

"12. No duplicate posting in multiple boards (except for re-posting it in the local language boards if it's translated)."

Duplicate posting on the same board or even thread just makes it worse.

If someone wants to say the same thing again they should just quote the post from the original.
4715  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gox coins dumpage - what the screeching hell? on: March 09, 2018, 12:36:18 PM
The Trustee didn't sell the highs, the worst part being the sale of up to 18,000 BTC on the 5th February. But he depressed the market further.
If this was incompetence or malice (like insider trading), it's hard to tell, we have to wait for precise data and compare dumps on various exchanges.
To trigger a bearish channel you have to sell a lot at an inflection point, where the market is undecided about the direction.

Again where is this data coming from?

Also, a quick look at the chart shows that the market went up higher on 19th and 20th than it was on the 18th. The next down move didn't start until the 21st.
4716  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Now We Know Who Sold The Bottom At $6k And Tried To Crash Bitcoin on: March 09, 2018, 12:29:58 PM
The sale of just 20,000 bitcoins caused such a large drop in the crypto-currency market? If this guy has another 180,000 bitcoins, then he still puts us in trouble with the price of crypto currency. It seems that the further growth of the bitcoin course will not be cloudless.
that's almost half of the market cap we have today i don't know about the truth of this news but if it's true i don't know if it such a bad thing because as long as there is buyers there is sellers and i dont think the new holders would dump bitcoin like that guy did

You guys are not very good with numbers.

They sold 35,841.00701 BTC
They still have 166,344.35827254 BTC
There are 16,908,213 BTC mined at the time of writing.

How the hell do you make 166k half of market cap?

Report of the creditors meeting on March 7th 2018, Q&A Session, answer 4
https://mtgox-creditors.com/

There wasn't any more useful information in there but thanks for the link.

I still can't see how they could have caused the decline in price though from looking at the prices in that time period and the average price they attained. If they had been selling the highs to trigger this thing then they should have got much more than 10K average.
4718  Other / Meta / Re: Members applying in merit campaigns without being eligible on: March 09, 2018, 12:09:00 PM
Dont you have anything better to do? For example participating in campaigns to earn some money...
Stop wasting your time on things that don't affect you!
People are joining everything nowadays without reading the rules anyway.

Most of the members forget that anything affecting this forum is indirect affecting you as well as you are a member. If all people started ignoring the scammers and frauds happening here, what a nice place it will become ?

Regarding me joining a campaign, I am lucky that I was accepted even though I am new here. It does not mean that I got no responsibility towards this forum and I should be content with the money I am making with the campaign.

The Meta section is for issues directly about the forum. People not being able to read the requirements before applying for a campaign doesn't really fall into that category. That's really an issue for the relevant campaign manager to deal with by blacklisting or tagging them. If it concerns you that much maybe you could direct your comments at them rather than make a pointless thread.

4719  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gox coins dumpage - what the screeching hell? on: March 09, 2018, 11:49:21 AM
... My guess is that would have happened in a number of OTC deals staggered over that time period...

No, the Trustee did no OTC deal, he sold on an (yet unknown) exchange. His own answer:

We sold them at the market price through the cryptocurrency exchange service provider from December 2017 through February 2018.
The difference between the sales figures for BTC and BCH was just the timing of suspending sales; therefore, we did not have any particular intention.

Until we know the exchange those things are not mutually exclusive. Bitfinex, for example, offers OTC services. For large transactions like this that would be a sensible way to proceed.

BTW. Can you give a link to the source of that quote?
4720  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: March 09, 2018, 11:45:34 AM
2) Are you making enough posts: The number of posts you made so far are also very less. The more posts you make, more are the chances of getting noticed.

That is terrible advice. Spend 10x more time reading and learning from the forum than you do posting. That way you stand a chance to gain some knowledge and then make a valuable contribution when you do post. Over-posting just to increase activity was the very problem the merit system was brought in to solve. Making more posts if you have nothing to add to the conversation will certainly get you noticed, but only as a spammer.
