4701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: To all people who think ether is the best thing to happen since sliced bread on: March 16, 2016, 04:36:31 PM
Show me one useful dapp that is not in beta that your average person on the street can use. Provide reasons why they would use a dapp instead of a regular app say a ipad.
The tech itself has ONLY just come out of BETA!! Your very same question was similarly asked in the 90's about the Internet. Read the white and yellow papers engage your brain and begin to imagine the possibilities.
4702  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH GETTING DUMPED HARD!!!! on: March 16, 2016, 04:16:27 PM
So many haters and the price is still solid. Should show you all something

It showed me something. As I write this, ETH is at 0.0317: well above $13. It hasn't careened downwards like Factom or XEM: it's stalled.
Shows me that there is support at this level as we await the next leg up. This should give others to opportunity to buy in at this level before we next shoot up. Great buying opportunity.
4703  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: I am buying Auger/Rep if you are selling on: March 16, 2016, 04:09:42 PM
Gatecoin.
4704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: March 16, 2016, 03:53:27 PM
at this point the smart developers for other coins are looking at the EVM and will figure out how to integrate it.

so don't worry if your coin doesn't have it yet... it will or it will be dead.
BTC bag hodlers can't even agree to raise the block size by 1Mb. Of course they'll have the EVM reverse engineered and implemented in no time.
4705  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Augur & REP on: March 16, 2016, 03:45:06 PM
I don't understand why REP is going up by 43% today. The coin is not officially released yet but the price is up a lot.

I only know that REP is linked to ETH.
There are only 11m REPs in existence and the system runs on ETH. ETH is now out of beta and has been successfully hard forked. (Something the BTC bag hodlers have yet to achieve). Augur and REP is based on gambling and big business is interested I those profits. Defiantly worth bagging some REP/ETH if you can get your hands on it.
4706  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: $12.90 on: March 16, 2016, 02:37:05 PM

There actually is a fixed supply. Once the change over to pos the inflation rate will be more less 0.

Ethereum is not the same as bitcoin. Ether is the oil to run the engine.

I don't understand why so much money is flowing into Ethereum. Given that Ethereum is inflationary, and therefore has no fixed supply - it seems like a terrible long term investment. Can someone please explain why so much money is getting pumped into it right now?

sorry still don't get it.
A billion dolla coin and I have not seen nor found a straight forward answer to how it is mined and how many coins will be mined.

just the straight facts on block rewards schedule like every other coin.
a nice production graphic would help, most coins x1000 smaller than ETH have those too.
Go on GitHub read and download the code and start mining yourself. It's not rocket surgery.
4707  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins are NOT btc. Enought!! on: March 16, 2016, 12:25:29 PM
Bitcoin is in trouble…

Ethereum has landed.

Everything has changed……………

ETH is not an alt - its a computer… and BTC is an old fart in this pace atm imo
Ethereum is the game changer. The Bitcoin Eva and community need to up their game from simply trying to spread FUD to protect their bag hodlings.
4708  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Augur & REP on: March 16, 2016, 10:42:24 AM
Let's not forget it runs on Ethereum too.
4709  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: $12.90 on: March 16, 2016, 10:35:48 AM
Measuring from my asshole makes my dick 12.9"
LOL.  Love bitcointalk.

But OK, so is it time to buy ETH?HuhHuh
Remember when BTC was $12? Nope neither do I because I missed that train. Don't make the same mistake.
4710  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH GETTING DUMPED HARD!!!! on: March 16, 2016, 06:47:33 AM
Let me ask you guys..
Would you have known about Ethereum if it was NOT super PUMPED by some Rich guys etc ?
Think about it & what that means..

Probably not, but then again how many would have known about Bitcoin back in 2013 if it wasn't pumped to $270 by (I believe) the Winklevoss twins. That brought in a lot more people that helped to push it to $1,200 later the same year. So why would this be any different? If it follows BTC's pattern, this initial pump will be sold off quite hard and then it will stabilize and grow more naturally.

The question now is, was this latest ETH rise equivalent to BTC's first $270 pump, or the second more spectacular $1,200 pump?

Not vaguely comparable in the slightest.

You are comparing the innovator first coin with coin #7,001 (yes thousands have been made)
That is silly ass bullshit and i know damn well that those Twins had fuck all to do with it.
I watched it go to $50 for the first time and before and after.. i was here buddy.
Your full of shit.

So what you are basically saying is you think that the stage Eth is currently at is most comparable to BTC's first rise to $50?

This is indeed interesting as I was originally figuring Eth was roughly operating on roughly a 1/20th scale of BTC, meaning that the $15 recent peak equated to BTCs $270 top and that we could expect to see a ~$60 peak this summer. According to your view on things this actually would be closer to 1/3 scale and we could potentially be looking at a $400 top...
$400 top minimum.
4711  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETHERUM will be 1st Crypto Currency..? on: March 16, 2016, 06:42:03 AM
I think etherum better than bitcoin in some case, like No anonymous owner. vitalik butterin is smart people. you can see more detail about it at wikipedia.
Ethereum have a fantastic development team and they seem united in their goal. BTC and other shitcoinage suffer from fragmented and indecisive community and devs. Ethereum just successfully completed a hard fork. Something the BTC community are big scaredy cats to do.
4712  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Simple questions about Ethereum nobody can answer !!! on: March 16, 2016, 06:37:31 AM

How can an ethereum application be called decentralized and unstoppable if the owner has full control over it ?

Well because normally, a Website or app, would be on a server somewhere on the planet, but because it is just on centralized server, it is really easy to attack.
And with Ethereum there is no centralized attack point so it is always decentralized.
And the owner only Writes the code and then uploads it to the Ethereum network, he can't change anything after, when he supplies the code it is final.
The owner would need to write the self destruction in the code already, when he does that people will find out and warn others.
Salient point well said.

4714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH GETTING DUMPED HARD!!!! on: March 15, 2016, 08:19:52 PM
This last dip was merely a correction.  The price is on an upward trend in general and there will be may dips, therefore many will panic. I have been there...panicking. Grin
Just hodl. Anyone who understands it knows it's a fantastic tech as we are looking at all known financial borders and boundaries being broken down.
4715  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most altcoin prices are dropping, why? on: March 15, 2016, 08:13:09 PM
People take profits from time to time. It's normal (and sensible) behavior. Markets zig-zag - if you see one going straight up relentlessly it's usually a bubble in it's upward stage.
Indeed. This is why it's good to see ETH correct and then slowly rise onwards. It's a healthy market and Ethereum is a fantastic new tech.
4716  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: EHEREUM SCAM EXPOSED: Garage In The Woods Operation on: March 15, 2016, 08:10:29 PM
looks like the price has gone up 20x over the life of this thread…
I pity those who believed this FUD…

Ethereum- best new tech of the year, and best investment opportunity of the decade!
Amen bro. The OP is a known large Litecoin bag hodler trying to talk down Ethereum so he can swap his LTC for ETH on the cheap.
4717  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Big Ethereum Pi Day Thread on: March 15, 2016, 05:20:33 PM
Ethereum was officially taken out of beta and a hard fork was performed with a number of EIP applied. I'd call that good news.
4718  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Simple questions about Ethereum nobody can answer !!! on: March 15, 2016, 04:50:25 PM
On ethereum.org website the team states "build unstoppable applications". But right now :

1. Any ethereum contract can be shut down by owner by sending a kill signal.

2. Any ethereum contract can be updated by owner that can change rules over night.

Simple unanswered question :

How can an ethereum application be called decentralized and unstoppable if the owner has full control over it ?

It's not a technical difficult question but nobody can answer me. For DAPPs holding customer funds points 1 and 2 spells disaster.

yes. it is possible that the owner can control everything. you have to read and understand the code. and you will know if it is possible or not.

CENTRALIZED ADMINISTRATOR
All dapps are fully decentralized by default, but that doesn't mean they can't have some sort of central manager, if you want them to. Maybe you want the ability to mint more coins, maybe you want to ban some people from using your currency. You can add any of those features, but the catch is that you can only add them at the beginning, so all the token holders will always know exactly the rules of the game before they decide to own one.

So you can add a central manager if you want to or not but it can only be specified from the outset. So anyone can read the code and discover if there's one or not. Seems reasonable enough. Not sure what the OPs amature dramatics are all about.
4719  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most altcoin prices are dropping, why? on: March 15, 2016, 04:02:03 PM
Shorters taking their ill gotten gains from the market ready for the next leg up. It's normal market behaviour and nothing to concern you if you are playing the long game.
4720  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Uncharted Territory ....... ? on: March 15, 2016, 01:00:48 PM
BTC bag hodlers suffer from tunnel vision. They can see no other than BTC and its failed payment system. The community and dev quarrels and indecisiveness killed it.
And from your signature we can see you are ETH supporter and this FUD have nothing to do with Bitcoin , you just trying to promote this declining star. Beware this is Bitcointalk and this can be considered as spam.
Nonsense. This is the alt coin section so all alt coins can be discussed.
